Not long ago our very own Viking put a link to a site in one of his posts. Let me tell you, I have been having FUN with this site! If you are familiar with Google Earth it's similar, except this site has an option for some areas to show a bird's eye view. I have been able to see BWV and all of DVC much closer with this site than I can with Google Earth. Plus you have the option of changing the view by clicking N, S, W or E. I can even see BEHIND the off kilter stage at epcot, as well as many other "offstage" areas at WDW.

Here's the link to BWV and BCV:
http://local.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&cp=28.419~-81.581658&style=o&lvl=1&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&scene=3950538

To get as close as you can be sure you have clicked the birds eye view option in the box on the upper left. And move the slidey thing (It's within that same box) all the way up for the closest view.

When you want to look at something else just type in want to look at in the box on top that says "enter city address or landmark". You can't put in the name of a resort, but you can put in the closest Disney park and then click your mouse to move around until you find the resort you're looking for. (ie I found BWV by starting at Epcot). The search engine recognized all four disney parks (cool photos of ee under construction in AK) as well as downtown disney. :woohoodan

Thanks vikaroo, I love this stuff!! :dancingba :viking:

I had completely forgotten about this site. Was fun to check it out again!

I'm not sure how much it has been updated but originally, when you looked at SSR, it showed the old Disney Institute. Then, when you zoomed in and did the birds eye view, you actually got SSR pictures.

The photo databases are HUGE... And dated... Most of the large-scale stuff is from satellite photography taken over the last 30 years (you can still find 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea at MK). The bird's-eye stuff is pretty recent aircraft photography.

It's a fun site, but don't be surprised to see trees or a corn field where your house now sits!
