The kids are just enthralled with the older Disney movies like Son of Flubber and Swiss Family Robinson and Bedknobs and broomsticks and Mary Poppins. I just ordered from Amazon.ca teh Apple Dumpling Gang and the Apple Dumpling gang rides again 28 dollars CDN for both movies shipped to my door. I really want to get The Song of teh South for them next. Are anyone elses kids into the old Disney live action shows?

We love the Apple Dumpling gang rides again. I recently showed my kids "Condorman" They loved it!
Give me all the old ones. They're corny, but good clean fun.

My kids also always liked all the old originals, and since I saw them as a kid it was fun to re-discover them with my own kids. "Dumbo" was one of the first words my 21 year old said, although she could only say the "bo" part back then. :) Funny thing is not all kids seem to feel this way. I gave my neighbor's son Swiss Family Robinson and neither he nor his two brothers liked it at all. I think some of today's kids are so "dazzled" by what they see that the old time movies seem lame to them. I'm glad there are still many kids like ours that still enjoy the old classics. :sunny:

You mentioned Song of the South. I think you will find this link interesting if you aren't already aware of it:

I agree my little brother will not sit through any of the older movies but he loves the new digital animation from Pixar I am just glad our kids love them and will sit with us and watch them it makes for a great Sunday evening after dinner if the Wonderfull World of Disney show is one we do not want to watch. Thanks for the link I have found another place in Michigan that sells it on DVD for 18 bucks but they do not ship to Canada.

Here is the link to the site that sells the movie.

My dd was a Mary Poppins nut...well she really still is at 20! I remember making her a bonnet with a daisy in it and she wore that hat EVERYWHERE! :ROTFL: She also enjoyed Petes Dragon and the Parent Trap with Hailey Mills and umm...Hailey Mills :D!

Laura I can picture Taylor with her little doll, she had to have been so cute! And hey guess what, the Trash and Vaudeville/Flogging Molly girls have another thing in common, as Becky always loved Mary Poppins too. We had a running joke where I'd hold a tape measure up next to her and say "You're extremely stubborn and suspicious". Actually we still say that every now and then, but without the tape measure, LOL.

:bugeyed: Sorry, I don't see how an omitted "tar baby" scene is a must see for anyone. For me, not just this season is the season for peace and goodwill for all.

Besides, doesn't Disney own the copyright? And therefore, the rights to distribute or not? I know for one if I had something (say, my bank acct. number or something else) that I wanted to keep private and not distributed, I'd sure appreciate it if folks who might have access to that info. (bank workers, etc) keep that info out of the public domain. Therefore, I couldn't support that type of endeavor.

While there are some good songs in the movie I do think the movie enforces a negative stereotype, and I prefer it stays retired.

Last Dec we headed over to FW for campfire & movie. They showed Apple Dumplin Gang. What a silly but thuroughly fun movie.

Side note: The campfire/movie at FW is the cheapest evening of pure fun you'll ever have in WDW.

I agree we take the kids over every trip this trip we saw the Great Mouse Detective and made smores by the fire. So my sister ordered the song of the south for me I guess for 18 bucks I hope it is a fairly good quality conversion from tape to DVD.
