Well my wife and I decided to sign our life away and join the DVC club. I have never liked time shares and really thought I would never buy into something like this. When we visited Disney with our kids a few weeks ago we happened to meet someone on one of our many bus rides between Fort Wilderness and a park that was a DVC member.
By chance she mentioned it and I asked her about it and she was so excited and happy with her purchase that it peaked my interest. This lady owned 600 points and would come and stay at the campground for 3+ months a year with her points. After our brief encounter I stopped by a booth in MK and made an appointment for the next day before we left.
We saw SS, liked it, liked the flexibility the point system gave us and with the referall program were able to buy at a $15 discount and decided to go for it. We have 3 children 4, 3, and 1 and we loved coming to WDW and even if we don't visit the parks we love the Disney resorts and can make a vacation out of them on their own.
I wanted to thank everyone on this board that has posted or replied as I spent my "10 day" review period reading your posts to see if we made a good decision. I have to say that every member we personally spoke and most of the posts on this board to had nothing bad to say and that ultimately convinced us to go for it.

Like you, Doug and I would never have joined the traditional timeshare that dictates you must vacation the same week every year. We even used to avoid the DVC kiosks. Then last year I started doing some serious looking at DVC and liked what I saw.
Welcome home!

As a new owner also, I truly believe that in the years to come we will all look back on our purchases and be truly happy with our decisions. Ok, those of us who actually use our ownerships will be happy!! (Its hard to believe but some people actually let their points expire unused :yuck: ) Anyways, :welcome:

Congrats!
We're the same - traditional timeshares just won't work for us. But Disney is perfect!
We've loved it!

Thank you for all the responses and welcomes. Maybe our paths will cross one of these trips.
We already booked our first full week vacation at SSR in October in a 3BD villa and are taking my wifes mother, father, sister and Brother-in-law along with their two kids plus us and our three children.
Should be an adventure.

welcome and congrats. we purchased a little over a year ago and have no regrets except that we should've done it sooner.
Good luck with the upcoming trip! I've done that and know how much of an "adventure" it can be. Discuss the details upfront to avoid any "issues" also unless you want to be the tour guide let them make their own touring & dinner plans & make it known that you can part ways when need be.

Yeah, well that's a great excuse for avoiding the inevitable purchase of dining room furniture isn't it Nono?
Anyway, welcome to the Stein Family.
