I was thinking about doing the 2007 member only cruise, but found out it only goes to Castaway Cay...twice. A private island is a nice touch, but I thought part of the point of a cruise was to go different places, not the same one multiple times. I've noticed some people on this board seem to be excited about the two visits and I have to ask why? Is the regular 4 day cruise itinerary a bad experience? Is Castaway Cay that spectacular? I hope someone can please enlighten me. Thanks

I would rather do Castaway 2x vs visiting Freeport or Nassau or simply stay overnight on Castaway Cay. The private island is more relaxed than the other Bahamas and less comercialized.
It is a shame that member cruises are not during the summer when the kids are off school.

Us too. I've been to Nassau one too many times and don't care to ever go back. When we go on 4-night cruises, we don't even get off the ship at that Port. One cruise we stopped at Freeport and we never even got off the ship.
Edited to add - We were on the last Disney Wonder stop in Freeport - that was December 2003 and Disney hasn't been back since.

Castaway Cay is the best part of the 3 or 4 day cruise. We did the 4 day and it rained on our CC day. I would have loved to have had 2 days there. If we ever did the 4 day again, I probably wouldn't step foot off the boat in Nassau. The locals just hound you when you get off the ship. We loved our 7 day Western. Next to Grand Cayman, CC was our favorite again.

So if you decide against getting off at Nassau, what do you do on the ship?
I was thinking about signing up for the Nassau city tour for our cruise next year.

Swim.
Spa appointments.
Movies.
Any ship tour or demonstration.
Lay around on deck reading a good book while drinking something tropical.
Enjoying the somewhat silence across the ship because most people have debarked.
It's nice.
p.s. -- THANKS ALLISON! Tonight at our house is the official showing of Pirates II! Can't wait to see it again!

Rita, If you have never been than I would get off the ship and see it. The city tour would probably be a great choice. I would have some type of plan. I just wasn't prepared to step off the ship and be inundated with locals trying to braid my childrens hair, kept asking me over and over what my plans were. I just needed a few minutes to get my thoughts straight! It was almost unnerving to me. If I went again I would be more prepared for it, it might not be so bad. But if you have a plan in place you would probably be better off. Dh and I walked through town a little bit. It was some type of holiday there, so many of the shops were closed. We then took a very SCARY taxi ride over to Atlantis and just walked through the hotel and looked at the aquariums from the public viewing spots. After that we headed back to the ship and hit the pool. If you chose not to get off the ship, it's a great time to use the pool, or get a massage in the spa if that appeals to you. If those things don't appeal there is always something to do on a the Disney cruise.

Rita - The beack on Paradise Island was wonderful. We walked there adn roamed through Atlantis. that was great. Nassau was ok. A quick wakling tour (You can get a map for that) is plenty for teh CIty IMO.

Brian,
I would go in a heartbeat! I just can't see paying in cash, for double what a normal 4 day cruise costs. The cash prices are sky higfh! Its what mom & I are planning to pay for a 7 night. I would pay in points either. Just my opinion!
Enjoy!
