DVC Member's Cruise-you weren't selected, yes you are!

Boy, is my Irish temper going now! Exactly two weeks after MS told me I wasn't selected for the first timers' member's cruise, I got a phone call about 1/2 hour ago from them. Two weeks ago would have been fine, I was going with another solo (Hi, Kathleena!) and we were making plans. After the Email, we stopped planning, and now she's on a Mousefest cruise. Besides, from what I've heard in the past two weeks, it's just as well-payment terms sound rather difficult. For one thing, they want FULL payment during the holiday season?! And if this is how they organize reservations, I don't have a good feeling about the organization on the 2007 cruise itself. I'm just so upset at how this went down! Oh, well-the up side of not going on the cruise is that I'll have more vacation time, more points, and more money for the Mouseowners meet next December. Thanks for letting me rant.

Is the selection process a matter of putting names in the hat and pulling out the lucky winners ?

If so, you may not have been originally selected, but as members that were selected suddenly had to turn down the offer, now you've become "a winner" so to speak.

We just got a call today and we had to turn it down also. We spent a little more on our recent trip, because we figured that we would not get picked. When I mentioned the total cost being due at the time of reservation as a hinderance the CM agreed that a lot of people had the same opinion

I can't believe that you have to pay in full at time of booking! That's crazy!

I got a call yesterday morning after being sent the initial email that I was not chosen....told them no thanks.....

I talked to Rick Burnley Manager of Member services after the SSR condo meeting about it and they said that was something they were going to work on. Right now they aren't set up for billing. Told him this is why I have to decline when we get the lucky/special phone call on the 2nd.

I made a comment about that it would be a couple of years before this was possible and he thought it would be much sooner, so we will see I guess.

After getting the e-mail saying we were not selected, I got the same phone call on Monday saying, do you want a cabin? I told them no thank you, I don't wish to pay in full right now. So, if they are still making those phone calls, 4 days later, they must have been turned down a lot .

It would not surprise me if they changed the "pay in full" policy in the near future. Especially when they have a hard time getting enough people to commit when they open it up tomorrow. IMHO

I was not happy not being picked and getting the email on my birthday.I got a call Wed and called back Thurs night and I did book the cruise.We wanted to go to Castaway Cay and not Nassau so this trip was for us.They only had Cat 9,10,11 on the first and 2nd floor available.I got room #2035 and I used points for wife and I but payed for daughter.I can see why people are not happy with the policy and most are hurt like me that we did not get picked first but last chance qualifiers.
We are happy to be going and I guess we got caught up in the hype of last years member cruise.

I was on the cruise and when we docked on 12/7 I went out on Deck 4 and fired up the cell phone - only to hear MS saying I could now call back and book the cruise. So I called - I was on the phone while riding on the transfer back to WDW -and was on hold for 45 minutes - only to be told that Cat 4, 10, 11 and 12 were the only available.

I feel like I've lost out twice - once because I wasn't picked in the lottery. And twice because they didn't tell us that they would do a second chance drawing. Their email said to call on Dec 9th PLUS I called MS after the email came out and they said to call on Dec 9th.

Just returned last night from WDW and plan to send an email to MS with a thanks for thinking of us, but they have only added to the frustrations!

Are there any special deals to be had or do they just pack the ship with members and sail away?
