They are here this week shooting an episode that will air in February. Hubby and I went and watched the demolition today, and it was cool. We stood out in the cold for about 2 hours to see all this. We had awful, awful rain here yesterday, and it was a good thing that it ended before today. We saw all the Designers and got to talk to the new guy, Johnny, and shook his hand :handshake . Would have done the same with Ty, but hubby said let's go and as we walk away from where we were standing, up walks Ty, just my luck  . Ed had his left hand all bandaged up, I mean, huge bandage and was keeping the hand elevated. I don't know if that happened today or previously, but I don't recall seeing the bandage when we first saw Ed.

As you would expect, the process is very different than what you see on t.v. A lot of waiting and more waiting. The reveal here will be Thursday, but I don't think I will get there for that, will probably be at work :worried: .

We learned that the family was told it was between them and five other families, but really only they were involved. They are actually surprised, but it is not the surprise visit you see on t.v.--the family is prepared for it when that happens. I asked Johnny how many of these they do and he said one every 3 weeks. He said that they have another one already in the works and that Ty goes between the two shoots. They did send this family to Disney World--don't you always love figuring out where they are when they show shots of them on the t.v. :bluebloun

The house is on a very small lot, and it looks as if the neighbors on both sides were getting their yards trashed, so it will be interesting to see how the fix those up after all is said and done.

Hubby took about 100 pictures, so I will post a couple when he e-mails them to me. This was a very neat thing to experience, and I can't wait to see how it plays out on t.v.

That's neat. There was an article in our paper about the family. They sound very deserving.

My wife watches the show but I don't really know who Ed might be. However, last week I remember reading a story about how one of the folks on that show sliced his hand wide open with a table saw. (Ouch) Must have been him.

Of course, the article stated that the incident would be featured prominently during the show in which it occurred (queue soft piano music and teary video footage of concerned coworkers.)

Actually, they usually rip on teh person who hurts themselves for not taking safety precautions.

I love that show! My friend saw one tha twas done in MI. She said Ty was not there but the rest of teh cast was just as friendly s they show on tv. Not sure if I'd love that job or hate it. My heart breaks for the peole when I see the show. Can you imagine meeting them after seeing their videos?

I am in Raleigh too (well, live in Durham but work in Raleigh).

The paper said that some of the Hurricanes are going to be by and participate. I have also heard that the volunteer opportunities are now completely full.
