We finally got the new planning DVD that you can order free through disneyworld.com. It has both WDW and DL on it and is a nice update....but I miss Dave! :hahahaha:

We got ours yesterday.
I recommended the DVD to a friend from California who's thinking about going to WDW next year. It has a nice section about hotels, and I thought it would help her choose where to stay.

No DVD here, yet. But I did get my set of custom touring maps in the mail last week. I have to admit that was a pretty cool freebie from TWDC. I like them even better than the maps they hand out in the parks. :D
Looking forward to the new DVD.

Here's a link:
http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/myVacation/customizedMaps/index?id=CustomizedMapsSampleMapsPage
Hopefully that will work. If not, go to www.waltdisneyworld.com and click on "My Disney Vacation." You should see the info there.
It allows you to select your favorite attractions at each park, and then sends you huge printed maps (on great heavy paper) that even have your family name listed on the map. I'll post a couple of photos later. It's more than worth the cost (free!)

Getting back to the topic at hand, I did receive our DVD the other day. Watched it a little but still need to get into it more thoroughly. The one thing that I noticed that disappointed me a bit was that they went back to a narrator-driven style rather than the host-driven presentation they had with the previous video. Some of the bits of the Happiest Celebration video were tiresome, but overall I thought it was a nice change of pace from the last half-dozen preview videos which were virtually interchangable.
More comments later.

I finally watched the new planning DVD yesterday. To be blunt, I hated it. I thought the attraction descriptions were as bland as ever. And the whole routine with people talking about their dreams just felt so contrived. Blech!
It reminded me of the voiceovers on the old Tapestry of Dreams parade...except that the DVD would have you believe that all children dream about is Disney. "I dream of being a pirate!" "I dream of being a princess!"
I dream of never watching that DVD again. :yuck:
