Vero Beach (from WDW) best way to get there

What is the best way to get from WDW to Vero Beach?

I am looking into a WDW trip with a hop over to Vero Beach depending on how the best way it would be to get there.

Is it a good idea to stay at WDW - visit Vero Beach for say 3 days - then go back to WDW?

I'm just a little brainstorming on my nexty WDW trip...

I haven't planned that far ahead myself, but maybe someone else here has. I think it is about 2 hours away on the east coast, probably down 95. I wasn't planning on getting stuff from AAA until after the new year, since I am going in March.

VB can be an excellent mid WDW break, or a great wind-down spot, or a wonderful de-stress site prior to WDW :) I know that might not help, but I think it really depends on what you prefer.


I usually get on the Florida Turnpike at Osceola Parkway, then go down to Ft. Pierce (exit 152 I think), then over to and north on Route 1. Don't know if it's the best - but I when once (and only once) via 192 -- the stop n go traffic wasn't fun!
I think you can make it (via the turnpike) in slightly less then 2 hours - I'd figure 3 hours if traveling Rt. 192.

Convert nailed it. Use the turnpike. 2 hours. Purely your preference as to front end or rear end of the trip. We would slightly prefer the front end to relax before the inevitable mad dash to the parks. It's fun for the kids to build anticipation. We tried going at the end once and the kids tended to complain that there wasn't enough to do after having been in "Disney." They kept calling it Zero Beach. A break in the middle would mean packing three times which in my book is a fate worse than death.

ThanX for the info so far. It looks like a car is the only option. I hoped that maybe there would have been another way. (Like Disney transportation - one can dream....)
