Just lurking on the DIS and was reading a purty bad TR on a SV 1 BR. Elsewhere I also heard about some pretty big disappointments. I realize it's not going to be a great view, or maybe not even a okiedokie view, but is it really a BAD view? I would have reserved something different, but believe it or not, SV was all they had for my dates, and I didn't feel like stressing with a waitlist.

We're going in Jan., so I thought that maybe we wouldn't be all into the balcony that much. What was I thinking?? :Paranoid:

any tips for what to request?? All I have now is NS, high floor. Any BWV experts wanna hold my hand on this??

We've had 4 different SV studios. Every one was better looking than Jersey.

YES...CB to the rescue. I have this one DOWN!!!!!!

Request a high floor from half way down the wing to the end. The front desk told me that they prefer having room number requests instead of things like "over the Big River Grill" . In the case of standard...and if you have a color map, the best place IMHO is in the yellow key building. Rooms 3123-3136 or the top floor 4123-4136 are the best. ( Pretty sure it is only odd numbers which are standard)My room was studio 3131 and my view was of the water (a little pond) and to my right the TOT (FAntasmic). If you are getting a 1 bedroom, then you want one of the 3 very end units because you have a 'wrap around' view with 3 French Doors to the balcony. THere is a photo of this suite on the DIS DVC picture thread (post# 153 or 157)and I think Mar had that end room once so she might have the room number. Again if you have a map, second choice would be the green building roooms starting with room 3121 or 4121. (I can email you a photo that I copy /pasted but I can't get it to link here.)

Best thing was it was QUIET because if you end up near the elevators over by the valet stand, the trucks that haul luggage for ME have metal racks that clang ALL NIGHT LONG. Rumor has it if you are deaf or if you keep the balcony window closed that you can actually sleep through it, but after the POP...you don't want to take any chances on this. Another nice thing about being at the end is that you can take the stairs and walk over to your car or to the quiet pool or MGM or the bus stop.

yes, yes, yes CB!! That is what I heard, this TR had the clanging luggage racks that kept them up all night. I can take a Dumpster View all day long and be happy, but clanging luggage racks at all hours of the night won't cut it. (I like to sleep with the balcony door open for fresh air in the winter, see we are alike!!)

So if I request "Yellow Key Building" I should be on the right track, with those room #'s? Granted I get the requests? I know nothing is guaranteed in life, but it is nice to at least try to help the cause. That way I know I at least tried.

Does anyone know what area the luggage valet racks are in? I think the DIS TR has the room #'s, better go look again. :teleport:

NICE! I didn't know these existed...but now I do! Thanks CB! :) :)

(I have a one bed standard for Jan so I am going to cross fingers and press thumbs! :dust: )

Hey Rozzie and Jiggerj--

Last Feb. we were on the 3rd floor 1 br standard view...no noise...we were basically across from the bus stop -- if you look at the map and draw a line straight across from it, that was our room. Based on CB's advice, I'd say anywhere from where we stayed on down towards the end would be very good. We had a tree in front of the bedroom which was great - we could leave the drapes open and get natural light but not worry about anyone "seeing" in (though I'm sure their eyes would have been singed if they had!). The view from the LR was quite nice. Not a BW view, but not crap by any means.

You'll love it!!! Just, depending on the weather, don't plan too much porch time unless you are wearing your ski outfit. (yeah, I'm still not over it...:hahahaha: )

In reference to “that other board”, I think some people set their expectations too high. So they will be disappointed no matter what. Or they are the type that will complain no matter what (I’ve got some relatives like this, there is no pleasing them).

LOL, Ginger, you've read about my mother, she is exactly this way! Good thing it's just Mr. Roz, as long as there's a corkscrew, he's happy! ;)

Ginger, I would agree with you EXCEPT I had the room right by the clanging luggage traps...and it was HORRIBLE. Air conditioning is really hard on my joints, so I leave the balcony door open at night for the breeze. The sounds from the valet stand: voices, car starting etc were doable, but whenever that luggage truck pulled up and started to unload (and it took them FOREVER) it was horrible.
I think we were there 3 nights before they moved us, and I don't think I slept more than 3 hours a night.

Roz those rooms start with 1067-1085 (the first number (1) stands for the floor) On the key it's themauve buiding and the worst is up by the elevator. So you could request FAR AWAY from the elevator. Believe me, they are now aware of the problem and these rooms are the last to fill. Thus my concern this trip when I arrive after midnight.

hey I think those rooms use to be preferred.

most of the standard rooms will face the drive way and parking lot.

so far we have some pretty wonderful standard view.

the worst was probably close to the elevators (mother wanted it then she complained) - for some reason there were big trucks delivering to the lobby area one night.

if you feel you might get one of these rooms - just bring ear plugs with you.

Rozzie,
We are just back from BWV, having stayed there 6 night in a Std view 1BR (came home on Monday :tearsaref ). We had the Best Std View Ever! We were in room 2119, a Std View dedicated 1BR (very few of those at BWV). It is at the corner of the second-to-last building along that side, in a corner unit - the balcony was HUGE and the room was somewhat bigger too.

But the View was just tremendous: we had a view of the bus stop, and the bridge over the canal there, and behind those, the conference center. Now the Conference Center is about 1 storey in all, maybe 1.5, so the view of IllumiNations is absolutely stunning! We really enjoyed the view; very quiet and peaceful, except during IllumiNations, of course.

Altho you are pretty far from the elevators, you have easy access to the stairs down to the busstop (very fast), to the Quiet pool or out to the walkway to MGM. This works great for those of us who can use stairs (unfortunately, DS is wheelchair-bound, so no stairs for him). It is pretty distant from the BW itself, it did not seem that bad to us.

The one drawback to the room is that even tho it is a non-smoking room, it absolutely reeked of smoke when we arrived at 7:30 the first night. Housekeeping had clearly been working on the problem for quite a while, as all of the fans were running and they had sprayed something to try to kill the smell. I called the front desk immediately and they came up with an air purifier, which made it bearable. We stayed in that room bcs it would have been very difficult to change rooms two days before Thxgiving, and as I mentioned, the view was tremendous. The cost, however, was that my athsmatic 7 yr old DD needed nebulizers a couple of times a day, and we all came home with coughs. We checked in on Tuesday, and the smell was still there on Saturday; I called again and they came up and put in another purifier and sprayed some more, so the residue was mostly gone by the time we checked out on Monday. I must say, the Housekeeping staff was just great about everything. I continue to enjoy great service at BWV, better than anywhere else I have stayed (other than perhaps the W in Montréal). I will be writing the manager to compliment the service, and also to suggest some sort of cleaning fee be imposed on those who pollute NS rooms like that.

As for room location, I'd say actually a lower floor, further out from the lobby. 2119, or maybe the first floor 1119 for even easier access, and just as good a view. YMMV

We were also in a dedicated 1 br at BWV. I think we were in 3121, almost as far as possible from the elevators. The balcony stretched from the br to the living area, and was wonderful. We overlooked the bridge to the parking lots and the canal. And with no leaves on the trees, you can see the high elements of IllumiNations. Great room!

Thanks PB! Sounds like a great room.

Makes me angry about the person who smoked in a NS room. People are so self centered, and have no idea that there are those who have serious medical issues, and they are actually endangering their lives by their dern stupid smoke. Okay, I feel better now. Just picturing your son having to get extra treatments because of some jerk threw me into a spin. I hope he is feeling better, all of you are feeling better.

Keep us updated if you will on the response by BWV management. I wish they would implement a cleaning fee, I wonder if they legally could put it somewhere in our contracts. (?)

Thanks again for the update, crossing fingers to have your room! :tilt:

Spicey , what you were hearing were the trucks delivering ME guest luggage. They use metal storage containers and the 'pass through' to storage is right below your room....Awful!

I think we should hunt down those evil ciggie in NS room smokers and skin them.
Gee, is that too violent? Maybe just tar and feather and then throw them from the monorail. Or cover them with peanut butter and stake them by the canal for the alligators?

I just returned. Had a room not quite far enough down the long hall, about even with the bus stop. Still heard the clanging and the late night drunks. Ear plugs WORK!!!!!! so you can leave the door open, thank god! (I had the ear plugs for my friend who snores a bit....couldn't believe how silent ear plugs make the world. Didn't hear a thing all night...and slept through phone call in the morning.

So it seems from comments here and from InstImpres' BWV room locator (http://members.aol.com/InstImpres/boardwalk.pdf), that on floors 1 thru 4 that those corner Std view 1BR units X117, X119, X121 and X123 are bus stop view. I am not sure if the 5th floor extends that far. But this is a great location.

Good luck!

Had 2 standard views one was the longest walk from the elevators, good view of the tennis court area. The other was as close as you can get to the elevators view of valet area. Also love the boardwalk views they are the best in Disney IMHO.

I'm not a BWV expert; my first stay years ago was standard view studio, ground floor. I am usually not a fan of ground floor but it was great - very peaceful.

I've also enjoyed the 'restricted' view studios - last year it was overlooking the main pool although the view of the clown was somewhat blocked by a tree.

I think that BWV seems to have the most variables even within a category of room.

5th floor doesn't go that far. We were in 5087 or 89 once and there was just one room after us.

I was in room 3111 once (lock off studio) and it was far enough down the hall to be away from the drop off area. I had no objections to any noise.

This last trip we were further back - 4083 I think? It was high enough to not be bothered by the noise of the cars and luggage racks. I never heard anything at night. I do think the 1st and 2nd floors would be a lot noisier. I as in 2097 for one night in March 05 (was that before DME?) and I don't remember any noise issues.

I was also in 4133 last May. It was the 2nd to last room in the hall. It was great - ToT to the right, canal to the right, pond right below me.

IMHO - the main pool view I had once was MUCH noiser than any SV or BW view I have ever had.

Does such a thing exist? And if it does, does anyone have a room # suggestion?
I would love to stay in a 2 bedroom at BWV, but would only have points for the standard view. I don't really care about the view, but noise is a wee bit of a problem.

Thanks y'all!
