Has anyone attended the Merry Member Mixer before? What's it all about? When would they announce this year's dates? And where has it been held in the past?

We have done it every year they've offered it, will miss it this year though - no Dec trip.

They hold it at the International Gateway, just outside Epcot - not in the park. It is a lot of fun. Carolers, Streetmosphere, cookies, juice, memento giveaways, big door prize.

Don't miss it if you have the opportunity to attend.

I attended last year. Kinda caught the tale end.
Ran into Athenna there. And jiggerj and I ran into each other as she was leaving and I was going!

Although I caught the tail end, I could see that everyone had had fun; children especially. They had cider and cookies and the characters were there. Games and music. And as we left, we each got a pewter Xmas ornament .

If a group of mouseowners will be at the World during a scheduled mixer, it's a great place to meet up!

From this month's Vacation Magic:

Enjoy the Merry Member Mixer
Disney Vacation Club Members are invited to enjoy the Merry Member Mixer at the Walt Disney World Resort on Thursdays in December from 3-5 p.m.
This complimentary Member event, set in the courtyard just outside of the International Gateway entrance to Epcot, will let Members and their Guests mingle with their Disney neighbors while enjoying the sights, sounds and smells of the holidays, including music, festive entertainment and refreshments.
************************************************** ************************************************** ***********

Also, for anyone who will be there on 12/1, from the same newsletter:
Be part of holiday parade broadcast
As promised in the fall edition of Vacation Magic magazine, Disney Vacation Club Members will have an opportunity to be on hand as television crews tape segments for this year's "Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade" broadcast on ABC.
Disney Vacation Club Members will gather in a reserved viewing section on Dec. 1* from 7 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Castle Stage in the Magic KingdomŪ Park, where crews will tape Disney characters and celebrity guests performing festive production numbers.
Here's what you need to do. Visit www.dvcmember.com (http://dvc.chtah.com/a/hBFSnh9AQdwcTAvcR9QAOd$QFQ7/dvcmem) to register your party to participate in this event. (Act quickly, as space is limited.) Then, print out your registration information as prompted on the site. Present that printout to the Cast Member at the Magic Kingdom toll plaza on Dec. 1 to receive complimentary parking, and then proceed to the Audience Check-In area at the Park's far-right turnstiles. There, organizers will confirm that your party is on the sign-up list, grant you complimentary admission into the Park and direct you to your viewing section.
(If you're unable to take part in this taping, note that every Guest with paid Magic Kingdom admission will have the opportunity to enjoy general segment tapings at various times until 3 p.m. on Dec. 1* and 2*.)
Vacation Magic wants you to look and feel your best in front of the cameras, so we've gathered a few tips from producers to get you ready for the big day. First, be sure to wear casual, comfortable clothing, as organizers ask that you be in place for the entire taping (even during those brief production breaks). Wear bright colors especially holiday colors and avoid any items that include logos or advertising. (Of course, Disney logos are perfectly acceptable, so break out your Disney Vacation Club couture!) Finally, producers encourage children ages 10 or younger to wear their favorite Disney character costumes, and they encourage Guests of all ages to wear festive holiday clothing and hats.
Enjoy the show!
*Taping dates are subject to change, so be sure to watch www.dvcmember.com (http://dvc.chtah.com/a/hBFSnh9AQdwcTAvcR9QAOd$QFQ7/dvcmem) for updates.

Considering the time and date, I don't think we'll be able to make it this year. We have a 5:30 reservation at Liberty Tree Tavern on 12/14, and that night we'll be doing MVMCP. Even if we try to get there by 3:00 it wouldn't give us a lot of time before we'd have to rush out.

I guess there's always next year. We can make it one of our Mouseowners gathering events.

Absolutely, I was thinking the same thing. Hope they have it again in '07.

I'm still upset that there won't be one on the 30th :crymearivMe, too! :tearsaref :tearsaref

I'm writing the calendar people and complaining about it! November has too many days anyway - they could just as well move 11/30 into December and call it December's Eve! Then we could have a mixer before we leave the World.:dancingba

What happens if there's a thunderstorm? Weather.com is predicting scattered T-storms for 12/21, the only Thursday we'll be in WDW.

The area is under a tent. Also if you are interested in merchandise get there 1/2 hr before the mixer starts.
