View Full Version : how to make SSR spa better (inspired by my gripes)

OK,

More than once, I've groused about SSR's spa here on this board (and probably others). Sooo, what would I do to make it better? And, what would YOU do to make it better?

1. Practitioners are great -- don't do a thing.
2. Hire a floater to go through the single gender areas....Why do I have to pick out my locker? Figure out the combo thing myself -- I know I can -- but shouldn't help be offered? Shouldn't someone poke their head in the sauna and see if I'm alive? Offer a cool towel? I know there's a self-service area, but hey, why should I have to leave the sauna walk across the room, open a nice wooden cabinet to see, yep, a college refrig holding washcloths. A floater would bring SSR up to the level of other spas in servicing the non-treatment areas.
3. Put lots of flowers around the place. And make sure they aren't white! I find the absence of color weird. Maybe even just lots of green plants. Green's a good color to go with all the lack of color. :goodvibes
4. Put some real offerings in the lounge area and single gender areas. It looks cheap to simply have a few bananas and a tea service.

That's all I can think of now. But, for the premium price we pay for services, that is what I feel is missing.

I don't have a lot of experience with spas, but I agree that flowers would help. Green plants are OK, but flowers would add a lot more color.

Make a couples steam room, hot tub, etc. Not to "misbehave" but to have someone to talk to. :)

My favorite spa is in Puerto Vallarta at paradise Village.
There are candles EVERYWHERE and it's just so pretty and so peaceful.
I believe that the refreshment area is still self serve, but it included a lovely unsweet water lite 'juice' with oranges and limes and watermelon floating around in it, herbal tea, and in the fridge, verbena scented washcloths.

I haven't been in SSR Spa, so I can't imagine what it needs, but I still like the $20 pedicure that I got last trip at Walmart! Heigh-ho!

Do you mean couples only or just a "for everyone" area? Our club here (certainly no spa) has a fairly large steam room that holds about all the winter residents of our island in one shot. It's where to find everyone in town when the temps drop below 0.

My guide comes in and brings me a Yuengling. You should get a new guide.

Somthing like that would be good.
