View Full Version : Most Romantic Disney Moment?
DH and I were thinking of our first trip to WDW, and brought up our most cherished and romantic moment at the World together.
We stayed at the Poly in 1994. Since our honeymoon was only a weekend, we were finally doing the "big trip." One early morning at about 2:30 a.m., after we had just closed the Jazz Club at PI, we decided to go swimming in the quiet pool. No one was there, so we had it to ourselves. The night was chilly, but the pool was warm, causing steam to rise from it. We got in, it was so warm. We swam for about an hour, laughing. Then we figured, "the pool is probably closed." Nobody around. We finally left, but still remember having that beautiful heated pool to ourselves on a chilly December night, surrounded by beautiful flowers, laughing and listening to the Hawaiian music at the Poly.
Anyone else have some romantic moments to share?

It would be hard to pick a most romantic moment---whether it be an evening stroll around the BW, our first stay at WL during our thirteenth year (because of a delayed honeymoon!), watching the fireworks at EPCOT from pontoon: or even though this isn't Disney proper, giving me my refurbished engagement ring on our first Disney Cruise during our twenty-first year, it could be any of those! Probably my most romantic moment will be during our upcoming trip with our family to Poly (first time stay) in 2008 to celebrate our 25th wedding annaversary! (I'll let you know!) There's no doubt about it, DW is a very romantic place to be! (Non-Disney people have no concept!) :sosad:

Our first trip together was our honeymoon back in 2001. Some moments I clearly remember and often daydream about:
~ PI fireworks on NYE 01 - 02
~ Laying side by side on Orient Beach in St. Maarten on Christmas Day during our 7-night Eastern Cruise
~ Sitting on our verandah in the middle of the night while sailing past Puerto Rico - you could hear music and see lights on the island. I actually captured some video of it. It was absolutely beautiful out!
~ May 04 - our first official DVC trip -- we did the Illuminations Cruise. Although we were with friends, I'll always remember it as being magical and romantic.

1993 - DH asking me to marry him inside the castle during dinner, then as if on cue as we walked outside the fireworks started. I've seen many WDW fireworks over the years, but I remember those fireworks exactly.
I can think of three...
1. Honeymoon in the Grand Floridian Turret Honeymoon room in late late 80s...
2. Being asked to get married at midnight on top of the Contemporary in late late 90s...
3. H asking, "Do we need more points?" while walking around WDW in mid 00s....
:)

Mnnnnnn, the POLY beach is almost sacred to me and Mr. Roz. I remember one particular night like it was just a few moments ago. It wasen't a birthday, or anniversary, or even a planned event. Just one of those moments in time that will live forever...:lovestruc
just a side note, we've never done the Wishes or illuminations cruise. For some reason, I'm saving that experience to celebrate something really special. Maybe our 10th, or maybe a birthday, not quite sure. I have a bad habit of "saving" stuff for special occasions.

Two instances come to mind...Watching the fireworks at the MK during our honeymoon in'96, and giving Rachel her Mickey Ring on the Poly beach for our 10th anniversary.

Allright - so it's Disneyland - but close enough.
DH and I were just dating at the time. was a Senior in high school and he had just graduated and was getting ready to leave for basic training. We went to LA with my sister, her DH, and my mom and dad to help sister move into an apartment there. Me being the Disney nut I already was, I could not go to LA without going to DLR for a day!
Do DH and I (remember - just dating then) took a day and headed to the parks. We had the most romantic day we'd ever had there. Had a wonderful time. Got our pictures sketched, even got to be the only ones on POC together - we rode it right before they shut down the lines. The most romatic part, however, is kinda odd.... DH always called me Kristine. Only family really called me Kristy then. As we were walking down Main Street DH was holdind my hand, he started calling me Kristy. I was suprised, but didn't call his attention to it. He told me 2 months laster when he asked me to marry him, that it was at Disney that he really started to realize he wanted us to be together forever. That he could picture us then walking our kids down main street together, and then our grandkids.....

Okay, being married for like.... 50 years or so, picking up on romance isn't exactly something that This Dense Viking pcks up on too easily, ( of course, this is the same Viking that wouldn't remember whatshername's eye color if it weren't for Van Morrison ). So, I went to the expert.
DW quickly recalled two of her favorite:
Couple years ago we bought the Bike & Boat plan at VWL ( unlimited access to all types of boats and standard bikes ). We packed a "picanic lunch Boo Boo" and took a poontan..... er... pontoon boat out for a couple hours.
Second was during same trip. We packed another lunch - we have one of those packpack picanic basket thingies - and started riding bikes over to FW from WL. Well, one of them sudden Florida thunderstorms brewed up real quick. Winds blowing, sky's black, we made it to a small pavilion at FW near the blacksmith shop before the rains hit. We set up our picanic and noticed about a dozen big old peacocks milling around us, just outside the shelter. Soon as it started raining , they all rain into the shelter with us. Kinda spooky at first, but they just hung around, didn't bother us, and left as soon as the rain blew thru.
She thinks they were romantic episodes.
Wait a minute..... I know this story...... Romantic ??? If so, than dark ride gooses gotta count.
I never said yours didn't count!
And in my life, that #2 counts, though :shhh: on the nitty gritty details, OK?

Secret is safe with me,nono.
Thanks for all the shared memories, guys. Your right, non-Disney people just don't understand. Seems like the Poly is a recurring theme for romance.
By the way Viking, :viking: goosing on dark rides, especially POTC, do count. If I had to name no. 2 most romantic, it was being goosed by hubby while we had POTC all to ourselves. LOL

While I understand how these kind of events can be considered romantic, I think WDW proposals are very dangerous.
In the US, marriage is the #1 cause of divorce. Most times divorce is an ugly event. Why would you want to risk ruining future WDW with ugly memories stemming from a previous trip proposal.
Better to save proposals for Six Flaggs.

It happened on a trip just after joining DVC.
We stopped by the front desk on the night before check out and the CM slipped me my 'invoice' that had a $0 balance due. It brought tears to my eyes and a warm tingly feeling all over. I clutched that invoice all night long, holding it close to my heart for fear it was all a dream that would slip away...

We have had soo many moments over the years but our first trip will always be my most romatic. It was our honeymoon in 1996. We stayed at OKW in a one bedroom. I remember the first time my wife used the jacuzzi, she had put bubble bath in it and the bubbles overflowed onto the floor. We had many magical dinners during our trip (because if Disney's know's why you are there, they go the extra mile) but there are two of them that just stand out. One was at the Castle. They had our table decorated with Mickey and Minnie bride and groom confettie and a white chocolate Mickey and Minnie bride groom. The other dinner that will be forever in my heart was at Victoria and Alberts at the Grand Floridian. They only had an few tables and we had our own Victoria and Albert taking care of us the entire time. We just could not ask for a better dinner. Our last night, I surprised her with a ride on Breathless(Disney's replica Chris Craft Cruiser) just for the two of us to see Illuminations. It was the best because they did not have the pontoons at that time and we were the only one's that got to have that experience at Disney that day. My wife still tells me that she felt like princess or a movie star that night. We have been many times since then and We leave in 6 days for our first December trip. I know the romance will be in the air as always. :wearenumb

I don't think we have had any really romantic moments since we have always had kids in tow. Maybe after the January trip when we send the kids to the kids club and have some quality adult time, I may have something to report.
Well, the showers at Old Key West big enough for two and champagne and candles in the Jacuzzi come to mind but asking Susan to marry me at a dinner with our kids at California Grill should probably take precedence.

We were staying at SSR for a few nts after 8 days over at BWV. We had all gone for a swim in the quiet pool - which is so beautiful with the lights from DTD. Just a great relaxing family night. Depsite the fact it was August, it was a cold walk back to the room, and the kids each got a warm shower and then climbed in our big king bed like 3 peas in a pod to watch TV - next thing we knew, all 3 were asleep. DH and I decided not to move them - let sleeping cherubs lie - and we took the sleeper sofa. That may not sound romantic to some of you - but for us, seeing their sweet little faces all tucked in like Whos in Whoville and then having our own bed in the other room illuminated by the twinkling lights of DTD was heavenly AND romantic, even if in a parentally domesticated sort of way!!.
Another time that comes to mind - hearing my DH tell people about our DVC trips and especially about how great a planner his wife is, and how she makes vacations so special for everyone involved, especailly him. Flattery will get ya anywhere. ;)

Wow after 4 years of get a ways with DH there are soooo many it is hard to pick just 1. There's the many times DH pinched me in a dark ride, held me during fireworks, took me to a romantic dinner, or just spent time alone with me without a tv to distract us.
Still I think our most romantic time wasn't a specific moment but a series of events that has made our ultimate dream possible. See each time we'd watch Wishes, we'd pray that our biggest wish would come true and we could bring a child to Disney. Four years and some 30 trips would come and go, and still we'd wish for a sweet baby boy.
Then we had a trip planned in April when the call came, a 4 month old baby boy was needing a foster Mom and Dad and they thought he might become available for adoption. I called my DH and asked if he wanted to take a chance and bring someone along on our trip to Disney. We agreed and a week later we took our FS on his first trip to Disney. That trip was hard -- he was teething with his first teeth, unsure of his new surroundings, and unfamiliar with us; we were new to being parents, not sure how to sooth his painful teeth, and unsure if this dream was real.
Fast forward to this past week when we took our little man back to Disney and now we have forged a bond and starting to become a family. He squealed with delight at the sight of the characters, jumped up and down rides like Small World, POC, and HM; my DH played with him and smiled at every moment; and I cried hoping that our wish had come true and knowing it is everything we ever hoped it would be. We even decided to join DVC, something we'd talked about for years but were never sure it right for us, but know it was for our family.
Then, when we got home, word came from our social worker that they are going to recomend that the courts grant our wish by starting the proceedings whereby our foster son will become our forever son.
That is our romantic moment... the love of a child and a wish come true.

I convinced DH to buy into DVC a few years ago- he wasn't hard to convince- he likes Disney and thought it was a good product... but never would have done it except that I LOVE Disney so much. Well on our 1st trip as DVC members we were walking through Epcot, just the 2 of us and a really cute elderly couple was in front of us, holding hands and taking in the scenery and DH put his arm around me and whispered in my ear, "That will be us someday."

Absolutely! There is a line in wishes where Jimmy says "Some wishes happen in the most unexpected ways" and he is right.
Everyone's story has a similar thread -- we made our romantic moments happen and while some were life changing (engagement, marriage, child), some were the simple things (compliments, quiet times, sleeping children). Seems if we look for joy in the little things rather than wait for that WOW moment, then we realize how wonderful life really is and how many of our wishes really do come true! :loveisint
Thanks everyone for sharing their stories...

PS... Also thanks for your good wishes, I would love to post a picture of our fs, but a foster child can not have a picture published in the public domain. Someday there will be a picture under my name and you will know he is our forever son.:clappingh

In October of 2006 I went to WDW for the first time with my girlfriend's family. I made reservations at the California Grill for one night, and then we took a fireworks cruise from the resort. While we watched the fireworks show from seven seas lagoon, the boat CM brought a silver covered serving tray over to us and said that our "desert" was ready. When she uncovered it there was a glass slipper with our names engraved on it and the date. Inside was a diamond engagement ring! I immediately got down on one knee and proposed, to which my beautiful wife responded "are you kidding me"! lol. once the shock wore off she said yes and now we are happily married and looking forward to being DVC Owners.

On our trip in 2006, I planned out a "scavenger hunt" for my husband. I left an envelope in the room for my husband which gave him instructions: to go to the concierge desk and as for his next assignment. The castmember at concierge was EXCELLENT!!! As soon as he saw my husband, he said "Agent Goofy, I presume...we've been waiting for you." He handed him another envelope with instructions: grab two beers and try to head off the serpent (we were staying at the Carribean on our first night). When he got to the pool, I had dinner all set up. After we were done, another cast member came over with the final evelope which was a map...leading to a horse drawn carriage ride with our kids (up until that point the kids were with grandma in the room!)
It took a little planning, but it was REALLY nice... and a great way to start our vacation!

One of our most "Romanic Disney Moments" was dinner at Victoria & Albert's in celebration of our 39th Wedding Anniversary this year, and after dinner listening to the piano player in the lobby of GF before returning to our room. We have had many other romanic moments on Disney propery over the years...watching fireworks while lying on the Poly beach, kissing (grabby, grabby) in the little caves on Tom Salyer's Island :) and leaving our DD with the GPs at MK while we sneeked over to the CR to have a drink and be alone. Our most recent "Romanic Disney Moment" was our first trip as a DVC member at the SSR in July...hand in hand exploring the resort and sharing moments together that are unique to a couple in love.

One of ours was at DL. It was park closing and we were all the way back in Critter Country. We pretty much had the place to ourselves. We were walking hand in hand just enjoying the sights and quietness of the mostly empty park (at least that far back in the park it was, Main St was a different story!). It was wonderful!
It's also when we ran into the DVC cart closing up and finally stopped to check it out, then ended up signing up for our tour of DVC the next day. :p
