I have to borrow points from my December 2006 UY (into my Dec 2005 UY) to do the member cruise in Oct 2006.... Which means... if for some reason we have to cancel within the deadlines, we would have to use a lot of points before November 2006 or loose them.
Since this is a DCL reservation do these points become reservation points or do they revert back to just borrowed points if we cancel before the deadlines? If we cancel after the deadline (gotta ask, wont be doing it) what happens to the points....

Disney Cruise Line®
Cancelling a reservation 60 or more days before the sailing date:
All Reservation Points will be returned to the Use Year in which the reservation falls.*
*Restored Reservation Points may not be used for Disney Vacation Club Resorts or Interval International® exchanges and will expire at the end of the Use Year.
Looks like points turn into ressie points as soon as you book.

Your points will become ressies points, you just wont be able to use the points at DVC resorts and you will loose your $75 booking fee.
You still have alot of goods choices to use your ressies points, non dvc resorts, DL, another cruise, etc... How about the Atlantis in the Bahamas :Pokepoke:

I'm confused. So just call me Pooh.
I really think that DVC points are the best VALUE if used for DVC. So if you are taking a cruise (and I realize that the members cruise makes you use points for at least one passenger), the number of points is generally, at an $11 per point rental cost, more than paying cash..in which case you don't have to worry about cancelling (if you get insurance.)
So why not rent OUT your points at $11 (or transfer them) and then use the money to book the cruise and use the left over money to buy boat drinks? :goodvibes

If you are willing to pursue renters and deal with the business of renting your advice makes absolute sense
