Sorry to sound crude, but the DIS is reporting a new drink menu rolled out on Sunday, even more standardized drinks than that horrilbe generic menu they had out this year.
Maybe nono can spy for us, if there are any speciality drinks left. Posters on the other board are reporting lots of MIAs on our favorite speciality drinks.
Take away my fat. Fine, I might need to lose a few. Take away from Mickey pat butters. Okay, I'll live. Standardize the menu, I'll eat off site. But pleaaaase for the life of all that is joy and fun, don't take away the speciality drinks!! Where will it end folks? Bud, bud light that's it? Where is the orginality? Where is this Walmart ideology coming from? Please don't say the numbers, what about the guests, what about being different and special?
I would link the thread, if someone tells me it's kosher. I am so peeeved!!
nono, are the lapu lapu's still safe?? :reporter:

Well I know one bartender at Pop who will be very happy to see that :innocent:
This standardizing is getting way out of control! Part of the fun of going to DIsney is having variety that you don't get often at home.
For the record, I'm a Bud Light girl myself but occasionally like a nice frozen BFD on vacation!:margarita

I'm not sure-what does "standardizing drinks" mean? Does it mean that they're no longer offering the Rollercoaster drink at the Boardwalk, the Nahtazu (or whatever) at AKL, and the Turtle Krawl at OKW? Actually, I don't mind the demise of the Turtle Crawl, but touch my Sultry Seahorse and there's gonna be serious problems. If "standardizing" means taking away the drinks that were special to each resort (come to think of it, I also remember some Jazz thing in POFQ, some Dixie drink at POR, and the Blue Spoodletini). These aren't gone, I hope.

I don't claim to 'know' any of these drinks myself, but I can't understand WHY they would 'do away' with them. It really doesn't make any economic sense because they charge and arm and a leg for these drinks. I think it would be funny if these drinks had different names but were actually all the same drink! HA!
But IF DIsney continues to standardize, I think I've found myself a job!!! I'll just move into a DVC 1 bedroom unit and set up a bar and youse guys can order whatever concoction you want!!!! I'll charge just enough to cover the cost of booze and points. We'd have to go on the honor system during Wishes ....
Goody, a job for Colorado Belle!!!:hahahaha:

I'm VERY sorry to tell you, but this transition has been in progress over the past year. I am NOT in favor of it - the economics might prove out, but I think guests would be willing to pay an extra .50 cents per speciality drink that's themed to the location - which, by my calculations, would net a larger return to the bottom line then compared to the cost saving by standardizations!!!!....but -- what do I know. :(

From what I understand, the Rollercoaster meltdown is no longer available. I plan to do some serious scoping out in a week and few days. :reporter:
yep Stimpy, Mr. Friendly the bartender might not have a problem with this new menu! :slyasafox

:O But I never got to try one!!! What's $0.50 at WDW. I'd pay that in a heartbeat for a special drink. COme on, anyone who can afford the drinks now (not complaining), can give an xtra 50 cents!
DO tehy still have the Kitchen sink at B&C or has that been standardized out too?
Yes, it is the same menu all over now...as I just PMed Rozzie, the upside is that I can now get mojitos all over the property ('cept for MK of course!). I guess I should try to get to the bar over at BWV to see if I can order a Roller Coaster Meltdown...but the Turtle Krawl was still available this week at The Suitcase, along with the Sultry Seahorse I believe, as specials.
The drink menus are slick and nicely shot, and my D has enjoyed thumbing through the book and picking out which drinks the 9 of us adults have ordered each day. I could see where the drink menus could entice non-professional drinkers like ourselves :hahahaha: to loosen their wallets and order something with a higher profit margin....
I think the simple solution is to have each bar have the standard menu, and then traditional drinks as "special" to that bar. It keeps the standardization and enticement factors at work for the company, while keeping the traditions and a bit of individualization of each bar at play for the customer. :ale:

What the heck is Ohana without a Lapu Lapu????!!!!

I sincerely hope that they aren't messign with the beverages now, too. It's disheartening what they're doing to the menus (including standardizing the kiddo's options). One of our biggest attractions for continually going to WDW would be the food and libations. I'd be seriously disappointed if they messed with the alcohol options now, too!

Oh, my gosh! Now that I understand, I'm really upset. One thing I loved the most was going to the different resorts and having a "specialty" drink that was unique to that resort. No more Rollercoaster Meltdowns? And I bet no more Sultry Seahorses at OKW. This upsets me sooo much!

The names of the drinks won't change, just the ingredients. For instance, a rum & coke won't be called a rum & coke, It's now a Rollercoaster Meltdown at one resort and a Sultry Seahorse at another.
