Had a chance to book an 18 night cruise for the price of a week on the Dream repositioning cruise through the Panama Canal...so off I go in less than a week.
If I could link things, they have a live web cam that shows the bow of the ship and what lies beyond ...thought I might try to fly a Mickey balloon out there one night and see if I can broadcast it to all the mouseowners.....
just getting into trouble again, I guess!

How fun! We had booked the May repo but ended up canceling at the last minute (thus this 3 day cruise next week)
What cruise line is the Dream??

Hi Laura...it is NCL. The Dream is the old Dreamward that they split in half (honest!) in 1997 and added a bunch of cabins. So now it is 'expanded' and kinda weird in that getting around is sometimes difficult without going through the dining room and such.
But the Canal is the Canal and a good deal is hard for me to pass up...I really need this after the ugly divorce life I've lived far too many years. And the best part: I always LOSE weight on cruises! Yahoo!!!!
Thanks for the hugs!

I'm terrified that I'm going to gain on a 4 night DCL!!

IMO a vacation's not a success unless you've gained a pound or two. :mickeybar
Though we're cruisin on DCL for our maiden voyage. It will be hard to resist the military rate that Carnival has been offering us (less than 1/2 DCL for higher type of cabin). Especially since the little one will be in his teens the next go around, I think we can safely expose him to the evils of the Belly Smacker Contests & (horrors!) on-board gambling besides Bingo :) .

I'm baaaaaack...and duly reporting in stages my trip report.
How do I lose weight when cruising? My theory is that I eat soooooo much that one meal pushes the other meal out the bottom end so fast that all the calories don't get sucked out of it before it's gone.
Ok...ahem....the biological medical theory is: that when you don't consume enough calories, your body goes into starvation mode and retains calories as fat storage. So eat more and keep that metabolism going!
Yes, I lost weight on this 18 night cruise despite many meals a day, at least one dessert a day, lots of wine and margaritas and much less exercise than normal.
Maybe I should just book a life cruise?
KS: a teen you say? I'm sure he/she knows all there is to know about bikini bingo IYKWIM.

Soooooo, that's why I'm not losing weight fast enough, I've got to eat more (forget counting carbs - I like your plan better). :sherlock:
My pre-teen still is "down with" the Mouse; my older two are passing & hoping I'll spring for Aruba for spring break - solo (something to do w/hot chicks & bikinis)...fat chance!

When my DD was a high school senior, she wanted to go on spring break with her friends to Mexico. Yep, like THAT was gonna happen.
We booked a cruise and....a couple families from OHIO had decided to 'chaperone' their kids and a whole slew of their high school buds (also with parents) on this cruise...our DD became part of this group (much to dismay of the other girls, but the boys sure were happy!) and did they have fun...
So, I'd recommend trying to get your older teens to try to get their friends and families to join you on your cruise...that way everyone can have a good time!
