By way of some background, a local quilt shop has a monthly UFO (UnFinished Object) Night. My quilting buddies and I don't belong to a guild, so we try to get together every month during UFO night.

Since my quilting buddy, Barbara, and her husband take two cruises a year, I had already told her about my Disney Cruise. During UFO night last month I decided to tell the rest of my buddies about it.

Pat responded with, "So you're going on the Big Red Boat."

I had to tell her it hasn't been the Big Red Boat for years. I explained (I hope I was correct) that Disney used to lease a boat from another cruise company and it was called the Big Red Boat. But Disney started their own cruise line several years ago.

I'm just surprised that the Big Red Boat is so well known, and people haven't caught up with the times about DCL.

Anyone else have a similar Big Red Boat story to share?

Nope, no Big Red Boat stories to share, but that is funny!

So when is your DCL cruise???

I agree Rita. It always suprises me that people clearly recall the Big Red Boat but never heard of DCL. It says something about DCL's marketing for sure.

When I first told my MIL about us going on a DCL cruise back in '02 , she kept asking me if it was the big red boat. I explained several times that it was not. When we went again last year, she AGAIN ( I think she is ADD) asked about the big red boat. UGH!:hammer: When we cruised DCL back in '02 the Big Red Boat was docked in Nassau, just sitting there empty. Frankly I was really glad that we were on a DCL ship, as the big red boat didn't look quite so nice!

The big red boat's relationship with Disney ended before 1998.
