At the opening time of DS/MGM would you ride RNR first or TOT (or another ride) first and if so why? Any answers along the line of go to RNR, get an FP and then standby for TOT or vice-versa would be welcome as well
thanks

I'm paying no attention to this thread. I am not supposed to commando on my MGM day. I am to be kicking it back and taking it easy. I will not rush through collecting fast passess and running from ride to ride. I will take it easy.
Nope, not gonna' work. Sombody please let us know! ;)

If I had to wait in a standby line, I'd rather wait in line at TOT vs. RnR. A good friend of mine is the exact opposite. She'd rather listen to the music in line at RnR. One of the few things we disagree on.
To me, it seems like the line for RnR can be feast or famine. It seems as if when I get a fastpass for it, the line is crazy. When I go back to use the fastpass, the line is non existant. TOT seems to move more quickly and seems to be more steady.

Carrie, you should've been there a couple of years ago when they did the TOT AP event. For three hours after park closing, they had TOT and RnR open for annual passholders only. They had a couple of fast food places open on Sunset Blvd. and a band too. We got in a total of 12 rides combined between TOT and RnR and still had a good half hour to spare.

Pooh commando is the only way to do the parks we always have and always will it just wouldn't be a good trip if we didn't. I would grab fast pass for TOT and run to RnR then when you get done RnR grab a fast pass for that and head over to ToT to use that one and then head back to RnR. We do this along with using kid switch it is great 4 rides on each attraction in under 15 minutes it rocks.

That's the spirit - now I have to get a designated runner and convince DW of doing a kid switch

The problem is, we are all commando all the time and exhausted when we get home on a normal trip. We've only been to MGM once and it rained so we only did a couple things. Long story.
This trip, we planned MGM with Brown Derby (sit down dinner is amazing for us) with Fantasmic, as it will be the day after the marathon for us. So, we were going to try more shows and such, not so much running from ine to line. We'll see. ;)

We are commando all day every day for parks we are out early and home at closing even with dragging the kids around with us for our family there is no other way to do the parks we aren't the stroll around look at teh sights kinda family which is also why teh slower paced resorts don't appeal to us. We are commando even at the resort if we aren't at teh pool swimming then we are at the playground with the kids or walking around the resort checking things out it is just who we are.

You leave time for swimming?;)

No more commando here until we get to the last day of a trip. Then we run around like banshees trying to do all the things we like best before we have to go home.
I'd say jride RNR first and get a fast pass for RNR when you exit. Then go get a FP at TOT and ride in the standby line. By the time you get done there, it might be time for your RNR fastpass. We did this several times with firends with us.

We do the water slides at the pool so I guess that could be called swimming LOL.

We like to line up for Playhouse Disney first.... Then we will tackle RnR with DD 6 who is finally tall enough to ride on it, and DD 5 will ride ToT....
Then check out the times for Beauty and the Beast, and this time we are adding in the Car Stunt show.

This tread brings back memories!
I guess we were kinda commando as a young couple. And still commando with our DD when she was a baby. But at the same time, we always stopped to enjoy the little things. We once went with a couple and had a grand time; but after they had 3 kids and we had our 1....well , we finally took their oldest and went off to do the parks without stopping every minute for one person to use the bathroom or get a drink. ARGGGG
Nowadays, I pretty much take my lead from whomever I'm with...I think my only problem is that I walk fast and it is actually uncomfortable to stroll. And I used to go NUTZ (before cell phones) waiting to meet others long past the waiting time. I'm not sure how I survived Disney without cell phones!
So, back to the question: because of the single line and Fast passes...doing the TOT RnR combo has been easypeasy. I check out the RNR line times and if crowded, get a fast pass and then move over to TOT which usually isn't as crowded, esp. early or late. I try to 'fit' Beauty and the Beast in while I'm on that side of the park, and if I am not doing fantasmic, then always do TOT and RnR while everyone else is doing fantasmic!
When RnR was in 'trial' opening, I must have done it 5 times in a row...WOW
I agree with Lefti, wait for ToT if you have too and FP the RnR. The ToT line moves pretty fast and ihas more interesting features to stare at.
But basically its "24/7 All Commando All The Time" for our visits to the park. THus we gather FP's like the Times gathers leaks and do all the big rides as often as possible.
We did enjoy the Stunt show this summer. Kids loved it. A bit contrived, but was expected.
Only slowdown at MGM is for a Turkey Leg and Fantasmic and we stopped waiting for that line years ago. Sort of go at the last minutes, sit in the back, and get out early.

For us it seems like RnR gets a longer crowd faster so we'll get a fast pass for RnR and then go stand in line for ToT.
BTW -- if you haven't done it, be sure to do ToT after dark. It is the most awesome experience!!! :faint: :goodvibes

Hmmm, never thought of that. Is it the park lights at night that give it that extra chill/thrill?
Thanks for the tip. We'll keep this in mind.

Yes. The darkness inside is magnified by the darkness outside --- and it is absolutely gorgeous with all the park lights twinkling at night. Makes it more exciting, IMO -- and a bit more terrifying!
