So what's the advantage of going on the DVC members cruise?

Are the cruises limited to DVC members only, or still open to other guests?

Is the price reduced, either in points or cost?

Any special activities just for DVC members?

If you book a DVC members cruise, can you book an additional cabin for people who a non-members at the members price (I'm thinking of my friend Tim and his family here who want to go on a cruise with us)?

Are the members cruises always the same time of the year?

Inquiring minds want to know. If we like our cruise next year, I may consider a member's cruise in the future.

Sorry, Rita - can't answer a single question - but you did jar my memory. DVC is all over the cruises, every single one of them. There's a members' reception on Day 2, usually, and constant invitations to buy more points, etc. We received a mysterious gift basket of the best chocolate treats in the world and sparkling cider on our first day, which we think came from DVC. The must cross-check passenger lists with DVC membership lists.

So what's the advantage of going on the DVC members cruise?

Mingling with members, I guess. Plus a few DVC-specific give-aways.

It's pretty much limited to members. They normally open the phones on a Saturday just for cruise reservations. Most cabin categories will be completely booked before the end of the day--some before noon.

Is the price reduced, either in points or cost?

HA! Actually it costs more than a standard cruise.

Any special activities just for DVC members?

Everything is tailored to DVC members.

If you book a DVC members cruise, can you book an additional cabin for people who a non-members at the members price (I'm thinking of my friend Tim and his family here who want to go on a cruise with us)?

I don't think there's anything preventing you from doing that. But, as I said, you do pay a premium price for the member cruises.

Are the members cruises always the same time of the year?

I believe they've always been in September/October. Makes sense--not a popular time to cruise with it being hurricane season, yet many DVC members seem more than willing to pay extra (points or cash) to attend the special cruise. It's a no-brainer for DCL to charter the ship to DVC during that timeframe.

The DVC member cruise is something I never understood. They actually sail at the worst time of the year, and charge you more to do it (no, I don't need any more 'stuff' in my house!). And it gets totally booked in record time.

No, I do not understand DVC member cruises.
I do not understand many DVC members for that matter.
Guess I am too cynical?:sosad:

I do not like the Member's Cruise.
I do not even like the booze.
I do not like them in a house.
I do not like them with a mouse.
I do not like them here or there.
I do not like them anywhere.
I do not like green eggs and ham.
I do not like them, Sam-I-am.

ghost...too funny! When Muushka posted Green Eggs and Ham in DVC version immediately went through my head. Ah...great minds think alike!

Rita;
Realizing your inclination to suspicious behavior...you could always call MS or DCL to ask! ;)

My "take" is much like Tim's reply -- it's designed to be an opportunity for DVC members to enjoy a cruise predominately with other DVC members. There has been/are specific events-give aways/presentations for members during the member cruises :)

So for those that went this year, how did you like it??

I would really like to try member cruise at least once. I think they would be a lot of fun.

I want to know more about children though, do there seem to be kids on board? Is it pretty child friendly or more adult oriented?

How much do excursions cost - roughly?

details, I want details.
Please.
