It had to be done. The closet door is open...

I suggest that all those entering nothingness should be required to introduce themselves. I'll start:

I am Rash, High Emperor of Rightland, 2008 Presidential candidate, portuguese-fluent talking horse (I use translation software for these boards), Yuengling addict. I possess intelligence outside the comprehension of the feeble human mind. My time spent on these boards is akin to that of a scientist studying insects. It is actually a tedious waste of my time typing this sentence.

I have been incarcerated for the last 13 years in a maximum security stable. I cannot speak of my crime, but will say that it involved lighter fluid, olive loaf, a sombrero, and a duck, When I am released, I plan to resume my relationship with Salma Hayek and pursue my lifelong dream of inventing grape-flavored bread. I am most proud of my third place finish in the 2003 state mosquito bite contest. This past July, I almost died choking on a fruit loop. I have recently become very adept with a flamethrower. I am in the process of attaching a handle to everything I own. I continue to suffer from nightmares about the metric system. I have taken a part-time job cleaning billboards to help pay for my spleen transplant. I recently bought a penguin on ebay. I've hired a live-in dentist. Apparently, mowing the lawn wearing only pantyhose and a goalie mask is frowned upon by my homeowners association. You'll be happy to know I still wear my orange tank top. I like to wire my Christmas lights so that they flash obsecenities in morse code at the neighbors. There's something pungent and metallic smelling in my crawl space. My thumbtack collection continues to grow, but I'm not so sure it's worth the scars. I broke my cheek bone back in April - this time it wasn't my fault. Wednesday nights I annoy the dog. I believe my clown suit may need altering. I weep openly when eating fish sticks.

Also, I enjoy shouting words in public for no apparent reason. I will share those words weekly (Sundays) in this thread.

But enough about me....

Commence nothing.

I think I'm scared.

Let me give my intro. I'm not sure why I'm here. It may only be to keep the rif raf in line. I'd like to assure you that the above talking horse was just kidding and is really quite harmless, but did I mention I'm scared?

I do believe I'm best know for putting on the coffee in the closet. **Fresh and hot BTW*&** Just in case giong into the closet with us scares you, let me tell you a bit about the closet.

The closet is a place of refuge fo Disney loving fols that need to get out of the real world (escape from work, in-laws, crises of the world). So, while you may be floundering with any variety of issues (a talking horse that speaks portuguese), your spirit can be in the closet with Starbucks (or Yeungling) in hand and good friends by your side.

So sit back, grab a beverage of choice and tell us your story! Or, just say "Nothing". Just don't forget to shout the word of the week.

ARM!!

Hanname!

PS - O'Hana means family and family means no one gets left behind or forgotten. Hanname means DVC family!

*sneakng a look into the closet*

Something smells sooooo good in there! Coffee and Birthday Cake!! I would wish the High Fruit Loop choker a happy birthday, but apparently he is beneath listening to me anyway...or it that just beneath me...hmmm - might be onto something here. *giddy up*

I am the resident Funyon eater and preggo lady. No one knows anything else about me because that is ALL I talk about. 24/7 Apparently my one talent lies in eating doughnuts off the top of Yuengling bottles, but just wait until I can once again devour the contents of said bottle and perhaps more talents will appear....like my ability to juggle teacup poodles one handed while frying eggs. My goal is life is to complete Rash's thumb tack collection, but he is getting whiny about it, so I might never reach my one true calling of discovering ......What will the world be like with a tackful horse? or a horse full of tacks....or something like that.

I cannot tell you all how happy I am to once again be hiding in the closet....*sigh* feels like home....

Smells like beer....ok -who made the mess?

Laura :p

Mmmmmm! Birthday cake...I sure hope it has some kind of chocolate on it! I really need chocolate today and I especially like it on birthday cake!!!!

Happy Birthday, Rash!!!!!

Thanks for re-starting the Nothing thread! I want to have my spirit in the closet today because it is nearing the end of the month (and a doozy it is!). As a mortgage loan officer, this particular month is one of the worst of the year! So, I'll just hang with y'all for awhile having coffee and cake :p My bod is going to leave in a half hour to go to another loan closing...

A nothing thread deserves a rhyme-
Poets do it all the time.
Before we suck up Rash’s beer,
Lets take a mo for why we’re here:

We came from ‘there’ where nothing threads
Confused some grumpy dunderheads,
Who deleted more than a score
of postings about nothing more
….or nothing less than randomness. :(

Threatened by what they didn’t know
some overactive ego flow
They banned a few whose only crime
was shouting random words or rhyme
Like Belle, whom we all know, is pure as Colorado snow. ;)
(And Greenban’s trip reports were fine-
He didn’t once step out of line...
Well maybe once or twice, but then
There just aren’t any perfect men.
And Dr T dropped of the face
Without a word about his case.
Could it be that Dr.T
is keeping Greenban company?)
And Kim says that she knows a few
of People just like me and you
Who need some closet refuge from
A world not like the Disney One.

Nothing is as nothing does
So Forest said and Forest was
The kinda guy who, much like us
Knew that the mind can fill with fuzz.
And then it needs a calm respite
A place where no one screams or fights
A timeout to enjoy
The birthing of a baby boy.
And other things that fill our Hearts
with Joy and Love and tasty ( pop) tarts. :p

Tis true that Pooh and others know
that filling up our heads with so
much thinking bout the heavy stuff,
needs offset by DeepThots of Fluff
…and nothingness, so that is why
Idratherbe's thread can never die.
More nothing threads need to appear
and randomly, we need to cheer
on words that have no meaning here.

So without much further ado
About nothing , a word or two:
The mind sucks up quite like a sponge
The nothingness of one long plunge
Into the abyss of Deepthot
Relying on my clean crockpot
Of Spinach, slimy greenish stuff
To keep me in the land of Fluff.
When Luging down this slippery slope
Arms akimbo filled with hope
Of puppy love and aardvark brew
Pass a Yeungling , one or two

And keep in mind just why we’re here
(Tho some of us just for the beer)
Tis freedom we desire the most
To speak without the fear our host
Will take offense where none was meant
Our time and smilies here well spent :)

And now with serendipity
For all the camaraderie
WELCOME HOME to DVC
Hanname community! :D

(I really need to get a job)

This reminds me of our local baseball team. Each game, the announcer picks an opposing player. If he strikes out, everyone gets a free Waffle from Waffle House. They have this vintage dancing waffle iron cartoon w/campy song on the big board.

Morning everyone. I am the one sitting in the closet today with her coffee ALL OVER her shirt. I don't mean a little bit - I mean ALL OVER me. I thought about going home but decided if I did, I was going to crawl into bed and not come out. So here I sit - coffee covered (with a white shirt no less).

Oh well - I suppose there are worse things :)

I love oatmeal - just too hot for it here still. Grits too. Eat those this time of year and I "glow" from the heat inside. bleeck! Hopefully, cooler weather soon!

wow - I KNOW I am "off" when talk of chocolate no bake cookies with oatmeal doesn't appeal to me! Blah!

I was going to go and purchase a new shirt to wear, but it is silly to buy a maternity shirt with a week left lol so here I sit! So far, not one person has mentioned it and the biggest spot is bigger than my hand, so there is no missing it lol

I think what I need is a good nap. I think I might just work 1/2 a day and head home and snooze until the boys come home from their grandparents!
(I have got to stop saying "the boys" lol Poor PJ is going to get a complex!)

Everyone is back from vacation, which is actually a good thing. I am getting all the checks written for the first of the month a few days early and have even gotten the payroll stuff done for the 15th of October! I sent and e-mail begging for one person to be my contact on this and the one who's causing problems told me which one of them to talk to for what. No, one contact. CAn you comprehend. You talked to me about this months ago. I told you I've never used my model this way and that I only use the model once every 6 to 9 months. You now give me a week to do this on 2 sites. And, you're contradicting each other. Arghhhhh! DO they realize how much venting I need to do here to calm down when they do this to me?

I hope there's chocolate in teh closet. I'm trying to stay away from it in the real world. then again, I'm trying to stay away from the real world right now.

Yay Toon! You made it!!!

ETA: So, are you really living in the garage?

Yep Carrie he is, on an airbed. Toon's home was flooded out during Katrina, and he's with his in-laws who have 5 cats. You'd never think a Toon would have allergies, but you'd be wrong, this one does. So the rest of the family is in the house, and poor Toon has to be exiled to the garage, which he has nicknamed The Shack. His daughter made an official sign for him to put on the door, LOL. He can go in the house for short periods of time, but if he stays too long his throat starts to close up and he has trouble breathing.

I'm sure he'll pop up here eventually and tell you the whole story himself, as you can imagine he's pretty busy trying to piece his life back together. Hopefully he'll write us a great poem about his exploits soon.

PoohsPal
09-28-2005, 12:48 PM
OK. Back to thinking his Toon's profile should not say maturity impaired. It's a good thing Toon has a sense of humor and can laugh about this. Toon - I really hope things get easier for you soon!

Morning all! Coffee's on. Day 3 of eating better, so still doing the oatment thing.

Had a depressing running shoe shopping trip yesterday. 40 minutes in the store and came out empty handed. I'll try again today.

As of 4:30, we had changes the modeling input again and one of the people tugging on me had some good attittude going. I see they sent me more info last night, though. Good thing I had not had time to get too far.

That's ok. I'll get there. Just be nice to get some cooperation. Have a good one all!

lllovell

I can understand your frustrations Carrie. It is the one thing that I don't have quite finished that is ALWAYS the one thing I get asked about. It doesn't fail! No matter how much planning, working smart, etc I do - - -that one thing bites me.

I told my boss earlier this week that I was going to bill water this week. (we get one bill and I have to break it down per tenant and it never works out right so I hate doing it). So, what did I meet this morning on the way in? A voicemail about Red Lobster looking for a water bill and "I need to let her know about anything else that I won't be getting done while I am out". Now - water used to be her job and she did it 2-3 times a year max. (I actually do her whole job from 5 years ago at this point...slowly, it ALL got moved to my desk and I am ok with that) I had also just told her I was going to do it this week (which today is Wed right?), so it just irks me. Its kind of the "nothing is ever good enough" thing. Oh well. After the 5th, things will just have to wait won't they, because trust me - she won't be going to my desk and pulling off things to be done, she will be making the pile higher. ARGH!!!

Other than that :) one more week and weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! for me!!!!!

Have my last pre-natal dr appt in about 40 minutes and I am so ready. Just one more milestone to get through. So close!

Have a great Wednesday!

I guess its time we turn the closet into a Shack, you know, give us some room to spread out...throw some more hay down for his highness.

Nice progression really, since we started all this in the attic. What's next, a rubbermaid shed in the yard?

While I'm sure the circumstances are really not at all funny, you are making me chuckle at the thought of it....in-laws, allergies, air mattresses...Sounds like a sitcom. Adds a new meaning to being in the dog house.

I finally said Disney Vacation Club and she said oh yes...we have been members for a while. Going to Saratoga in October for the first time. I blabbed for just a second about being "semi-new" members and how much we love it and that we were going to SSR for Christmas and got the blank look back....so I hastily said, "Didn't mean to hold you up. Just wanted to say hi. Have a good one." and walked to my car disappointed. I mean REALLY - a DVC member who shows NO excitement over meeting a fellow DVC member! Blasphamy!!! :p But - at least I got my school year mission accomplished!

How goes the project Carrie? I think what you need is some chocolate to go with your coffee and it will perk it right up! Maybe I will head to Starbucks later today for that decaf mocha iced thingie and some chocolate mousse cheesecake....mmmmmm...haven't had it in months because it just been too hot to go outside in the afternoons! Want me to bring you back something?

TW1 - I am ashamed to say that I had forgotten about the attic...guess I need HRH or Greenban to remind us why they were locked there or attempting to be locked there in the first place! :p ;)

Yes, I had forgotten about the attic myself. It was Mar's attic, wasn't it?

Geez Laura what a disappointment! You'd certainly think anyone with their car decorated with DVC stuff would really be into it. Maybe in your excitement she thought you were coming on to her? (as Seinfeld would say, "Not that there's anything wrong with that"). Well at least you accomplished your mission, and Yes, I am indeed proud of you!

To jog your memory: The Attic was where I supposedly had Greenban "tied up" while he was missing. I must confess now that it was all a lie. :o Actually that's where Toon is right now, the whole "Garage" thing is a huge cover-up.

If you have a tream like the Tigers, baseball is not a season! If it weren't for college, football might not be a season either. DArn good thing hockey goes long!

Good morning people!!!!

TGIF!!!

mmmmm brownies and coffee! Thanks Carrie. Always nice to have a special treat on Friday morning (and I am not buying you NOT being good to hubby - it sounds like you two are good to each other :) )

I am down to the straggles of work! Going to work today and hopefully a few hours on Monday (have some billings to do that can't be done until after I close out today...so only planning on working 4 hours on Monday - but we will see how it goes).

The countdown is really on! (and boy am I getting nervous and anxious all at the same time lol)

Lisa - I played sports all through high school (even basketball - which is semi-humurous for a 5'4" woman...but I was agressive to make up for my height ;) ) and I LOVED my parents being so supportative and being there for all my games, etc. I have 2 youngers sisters and we all were so lucky to have parents that gave us so much, so it really thrills me to hear you are looking forward to your son's basketball season to start!

*jotting notes for my hockey lessons* Soon Carrie! It won't be long now and being up at 3:30 am for a feeding will become the norm...so hockey - here I come. :D

I just didn't want people to get the picture of me being the little wifey who packs her hubby's lunch and makes his goodies. (nothing against those people, but I'm not that good of a wife) I think this is the first time he's even asked if I'd do it for him. I've offered before, but he tends to do it himself. He is really good to me. In return, he was sure to leave me a small plate of brownies this morning.

Darn Laura, I should have taped Fox Sports Detroit's special on the new hockey rules for you last night!

Yes, parental support is so imprtant. My parent's only missed 2 of my hs sporting events. (They were taking db to college) It makes all thedifference in the world. Then there were the kids who couldn't even get a ride to practice... Now that I'm in the working world, however, I knwo how difficults it must have been for my dad to have made all of my meets. He ahd a flexible scghedule, thankfull, but there must have still been days where it was not easy.

More on the topic of Nothing, what's your favorite Schoolhouse Rock song? Growing up, it was I'm just a bill. These days, it's No Kings. Very Catchy.

No Kings

Rockin' and rollin', splishin' and a-splashin',
Over the horizon, what can it be?

The pilgrims sailed the sea
To find a place to call their own.
In their ship, Mayflower,
They hoped to find a better home.
They finally knocked
On Plymouth Rock
And someone said, "We're there."
It may not look like home
But at this point I don't care.

Oh, they were missing Mother England,
They swore their loyalty until the very end.

Anything you say, King,
It's OK, King,
You know it's kinda scary on your own.
Gonna build a new land
The way we planned.
Could you help us run it till it's grown?

They planted corn, you know
They built their houses one by one,
And bit by bit they worked
Until the colonies were done.
They looked around,
Yeah, up and down,
And someone said, "Hurray!"
If the king could only see us now
He would be proud of us today.

They knew that now they'd run their own land,
But George the Third still vowed
He'd rule them to the end.

Anything I say, do it my way now.
Anything I say, do it my way.
Don't you get to feeling independent
'Cause I'm gonna force you to obey.

He taxed their property,
He didn't give them any choice,
And back in England
He didn't give them any voice.
(That's called taxation without representation,
And it's not fair!)
But when the Colonies complained
The king said: "I don't care!"

He even has the nerve
To tax our cup of tea.
To put it kindly, King,
We really don't agree.

Gonna show you how we feel.
We're gonna dump this tea
And turn this harbor into
The biggest cup of tea in history!

They wanted no more Mother England.
They knew the time had come
For them to take command.

It's very clear you're being unfair, King,
No matter what you say, we won't obey.
Gonna hold a revolution now, King,
And we're gonna run it all our way
With no more kings...

We're gonna elect a president! (No more kings)
He's gonna do what the people want! (No more kings)
We're gonna run things our way! (No more kings)
Nobody's gonna tell us what to do!

Rockin' and rollin', splishin' and a-splashing,
Over the horizon, what can it be?
Looks like it's going to be a free country.

I like the new rules. Lots more offense last night and not as many icing calls. I like the two-line pass and the extra four feet between blue line and goal.

Flyers played well, huge roar went up when the Artos Cubs score was posted and Artos looked to be losing.

Yes, Phillies are on life-support, but not flat lined just yet.

If we can make it as the wild card we can make mince meat out of those Braves. (oops sorry Laura., well not really.)

We like the fact that the goalie cannot really abuse his protection in the corners any more. I'm curious to see how teh power plays look this year. It's kind of hard to tell in exhibition play with players that will not really stay.

Hope I can get to a game this year. My ticket source is dry. :(

We've got their AHL primarily affiliates locally, though. That's fun. Not the same, but it's cool to watcha guy locally one night and see them on TV with the Wings the next.

Yeah yeah - I hear you! I am used to the Braves not being well liked. :p Doesn't bother me a bit. (I mean come on - 14 Div titles in a row...its hard to like teams like that ;) ) It is actually harder I think for them to get there over and over again and then do the nosedive that they have done for most of the years. Those games early on in the playoffs (and of course beating the Indians in '96) were incredible to watch. I would love to see more of those types of games no matter who is in the playoffs (one run tight races....nail biters...makes it a much more entertaining night - even if I am pacing and making everyone in my house nervous LOL)

Hope the Phillies make it to the playoffs! It will be fun (for one of us at least lol)

Hanging in there. Taking it easy as she is giving me a run for my money this weekend. Trying to hold out til at least Monday when more doctors are around so I can get the c-section I need to get rid of the cyst. The good thing is that I don't have a medical reason due to the pregnancy for needing it, so if she decides to come early, so be it. Just have to go back in the hospital later (poor hubby - home alone with 3 kids under 6 if that happens) and get the cyst removed. Either way will work :)

Lisa - I know exactly what you mean about kids and sports (and parents more specifically). There were a lot of kids that were very close to my parents because they were always around when we were in school...sports, band, fund raisers, etc. Sometimes it crimped my style ;) but I am so glad for it now of course and can't wait to do that for mine!

In honor of our coastally-challanged friends, I've become an Angels fan, mostly though because they are playing the Yanks.

Other than that, St Louis is the team to beat.

I guess I could throw in a go Flyers, too, as long as they're not playing the Wings. I'm pretty nice that way. :D

In honor of our coastally-challanged friends, I've become an Angels fan, mostly though because they are playing the Yanks.

Other than that, St Louis is the team to beat.

Now, if I were a betting man, I'd call MS and use some points to get a room in DL and enjoy a Padres Angels World Series! Then we could have a DVC mee-up with Left Coasted!

Ah, a fine event that would be. Maybe the Angels losing the game last night is a good sign. Afterall, in 2002, they lost the first game to the Yanks and then went on to win it all. It was a really cool time to be around DL too. They had jumbo trons set up all over Downtown Disney and it was just sucha fun, festive atmosphere.

Not much of a Hockey fan here but, my loyalties would stay with my old hometown, San Jose.
No loyalties for basketball though. Other than I like to see the Lakers lose. To much ego and not enough team there.

Love too, but I'm in the process of caffeinating my system for a long (and bound to be extremely boring) meeting. I cannot be seen nodding off at the table, thus a big mug of joe is steaming away in front of me. Man how a chocolate doughnut would go with this right now!

Hey, three cheers for the Angels kicking Yankee butt last night. And I guess for the Red Wings too, though my Flyers drop their opener. (NOTE: I wrote "my Flyers" though in a few months I'll probably be calling them "those Flyers" :o )

Well here's to long after work meetings...

Okay, did you miss me? How long did it take me to read everything on these boards, but I did, I did, I did! And what does that say about me, hmmm?

So I saved you all for last, because, well, I got a lot more satisfaction out of checking off all these little threads, and I knew I'd have to be good and slap happy to start this one from the beginning. So here I am!

And let's see, I'm afraid that I have to be the one to tell you that the last few pages have been alarmingly overwhelmed with subjects of the sporting sort. Now for those of us who do not care so much for these activities, I find your entire conversation to be cliquish and exclusionary. Please either cease and desist, or add 4 or 5 other random topics to the mix to be discussed simultaneously, and we'll have us a nothing thread.

And hey, through a great series of strange events that are basically uninteresting (although this IS the Nothing Thread), I had to hire a new producer for my album today. Checked out a new studio, and oh my gosh, how hip are we? I want to move in. Purple leather couches. Pinball. Amps and guitars strewn in a random, yet hip way. Lots of hip art including dogs listening to various musical instruments. Pool table. Darth Vader busts. I'm telling you, I'd never be able to do this place myself, but boy do I want to hang out here. And, oh yeah, I get to (for only millions of $ a day)!

Funny thing, I walked in and felt so at home, and then I realized, this must be what the Nothing Thread Closet looks like!

On another note, Laura, please! I gotta know! Hoping everything's good in the lllovell household.

MMMMMMM. Hockey. Eric (not Toon) and I share season tix to the Devils with another couple. Yummy. We used to have our own tix, but really, hauling butt to see 40+ games is a bit much. Seeing 20 plus playoffs (and the rest on HDTV) is just about perfect!!! It was just awesome watching the Devils paste those flightless birds! Very satisfying!! (Yes, I am hardcore. Yes, we order CenterIce.)

Carrie, I notice we also have the Schoolhouse fave "No More Kings" in common (and yes, I own the DVD set, even though we are childless. I also own DDRMax2 and a kick butt dance pad along with a pinball machine. Now, who is maturity impaired????)

Kim! Good to see you again! My parents had Wings tic's split 4-ways. They got them for someone who got tired of having to go to all 40 games, too. That really is a lot. That worked out really well. Unfortunately (for me, not them), they retired and gave up the tic's. This is my first season w/o a couple games scheduled. We live about 3 hours from Detroit, so we couldn't make that many games. Good thing for cable/satellite.

North of the Mason Dixon we enjoy gooey cinnamon rolls cut, buttered and grilled in a pan. Known far and wide for their grilled stickies is Ye Old College Diner near the Penn State campus. Locally, I buy a box of these ultra-carb delicacies at the supermarket. You get about six in a box, and seeing as I'm the one who makes breakfast in the morning, and am algebraically challenged, I simply prepare one each for DW, DD and DS and eat the rest before they wake up so as to not have hurt feelings about who gets more.

You can even order them online, ungrilled of course at:

Thanks for the grilled sticky explanation, I had no idea.

And what link, what picture?!?! Oh help.

And random funny or horrifying story depending on who you are from my HS years, brought back to me by this gilled sticky exchange. Here goes:

I was working at a bakery where we had the stickiest sticky buns ever (I mean in the case, not on ourselves, thank you very much). I was also doing the play "Steel Magnolias" in which I had to wear giant fake nails since I was getting a manicure during most of the play. You see where this is going. A woman orders a dozen sticky buns, I box them up (they wouldn't let us wear gloves because they got caught in the bread slicer, and that, my friends, is a BAD THING!), hand them to her, and she goes on her merry way. As I watch her leaving the store (we had a good view of the front) I happen to glance down and notice that my giant, bright red pinkie nail is missing. Pretty sure it was glued to one of her sticky buns. The ones in the box, I mean, I make no comments on her personal self. Eiyiyi! I never heard if there was a suit of any kind, but I never did see her again, and she was a regular before that, hmmm...

And Carrie, that's like my favorite thing ever, as long as you discount chocolate from the world. And in fact, I have occassionally chosen that even when cholcolate was available, if that tells you anything.

We stop in Orlando on the way down but I stay on he plane....but on the way back, I have about a 2.5 hour layover....hmmm, I wonder if I could run over to ME, catch a bus....make the rounds at WDW and make it back in time....

TGIF everybody.

What a MILK week this has been. Not sure what I'd give for some sunshine right now. It has rained every friggin day for a solid week without an ounce of sun.

And I have points burning a hole in my pocket that I can't use!

Arrgghh I need some sun and a weekend SOON.

Anybody have weekend plans the want to share. Or better yet, lets sit in the closet and think "if I could do anything this weekend, what would it be?"
(probably a stupid question on the DVC board :p )

Yes, I'd be in WDW. Next best thing is to just be home with no plans, though.

So, TW1, you have expiring points? Want me to take 9 off your hands for my cruise? ;)

OK, closet trip to WDW!

Have a good weekend all!

Be happy to, if I really had them for this year. I was able to bank a few this year, so I sorta feel like I should have used them and would be happy to spend them on a weekend at my happy place.

Yup, just looked, pouring buckets again, though they are promising a great weekend.

Saw a commercial for a new Nicholas Cage movie in which he's a weatherman and people hate him. After a week like this, premise sounds all to real.

Any Yuengling in the closet?

Hellllllllooooooooo People!!!

I have just caught up a bit, and for some reason I am craving sticky gooey things to eat! I have been doing pretty well staying away from the sweets, but this might just do me in.

Things are going well here. Baby is sleeping VERY well for me (betwee 5-6 hours at a clip at night) so that is extra nice. I have a cold and am trying hard not to make her sick, which is not so easy to do when all I want to do is let her snuggle on my chest. Feeling better today, so hopefully by tomorrow, I will not have to worry so much about it anymore.

Rash...I hope you enjoyed your vacation - - - it sure sounds like you needed it! LEfty is gone as well isn't he? Mar just got back from a big trip to the world...and Cruise is heading out again (go for that 2.5 hour layover ME mad dash Cruise! you can make it!). I need a vacation!!! *counting down until December*

Jnrrt, I can fill in if you need a sax player :) but I might be a bit rusty. Been a while for me, but my sister is back to teaching music this year and might be the better pick between the two of us.

Carrie - Caffine is an evil thing - its ALMOST worse than DVC points and the addiction it causes :p Good luck with the whole "cutting" thing. I just limit myself to one or two cups a day....of course, they are Star Wars Weekend coffee cups and probably hold 2-3 regular cups of coffee, so I fake myself out by mixing the decaf and reg coffee BEFORE making it so I don't feel slighted ;)

TW1 - I am thinking about going out for mexican tonight. The mother in law has arrived (yesterday) and as I predicted, if I don't ask her to do everything, she does nothing :( and its not my style to ask "guests" to do things, so I am thinking dinner out instead of me cooking tonight....SOOOOOOO, where I was going with this is, I won't be having a Yuengling tonight, but perhaps a nice Tecate or XX with dinner. Wanna join us?

Take care everyone! I need to run off and nap (knowing full well that little bit is just waiting for me to crash to wake up to eat lol).

Gotta go check out Mar's trip report as well! Glad you are back!

Later!!

Laura

Bad News/Good News....

Found out today that 51 people were notified under the WARN act :( ...I was not one of them...

The good, yet ironic, news is that while I was at the State Fair today in Raleigh, I finally received an email for a positon I've been pursuing the past several weeks :) ...they wanted to meet on Monday, but I'll be in FLA...so if I land this one, I won't get a severance check that I could use to buy the current SSR promo  ....Anyway, need major Pixie Dust for this one :) :) :) :)

Probably won't do the ME dash...can't afford to miss my connecting flight ;)

Just had to say how much fun this would be! I have no idea how you play, but can you get yourself to Ohio? I'd put you on my album just because it would be so cool!

Can any of you play maracas or the cowbell ;) ? We should make a DVC board album - I know lots of you could write me some fun lyrics :p !

wow Cruise!!! Sometimes really wonderful things happen just when you least expect it. Wishing you the best for Monday!!!

A DVC album sounds GREAT! I am good at turning a phrase, but it usually ends up getting me fussed at for misbehaving :p so I better leave the lyrics up to others. I have played for years Jnrrt. If it is a woodwind, chances are pretty good I can handle it (at least making a good showing), but sax was my first choice. My sister has Sadie <---my sax but she is close enough again to get it back in a flash. (She recently moved back to the Atlanta area from Orlando when she took the high school music teaching job. I am glad she is close, but hate losing our "orlando connection" ;) )

ARGH!!! My mother in law is making me NUTS. She treats the boys like they are babies one minute and then does stupid things leaving them alone where they might get hurt the next (like on top of the 4 foot high rubbermaid storage shed out back when she had to run to the rest room - she said my 3 year old said he would be still so she didnt see the harm  This is the child that has already broken his arm. ) *sigh* She is here for 10 more days. I am going to be wacky loopy. Well - wacky loopier :p

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!

Laura

Speaking of Cruise..
I am just back from a lovely one!
18 nights of having someone else clean my abode, cook my meals, take out my trash, entertain me.
AHA! I think I've died and gone to heaven .
But now back to harsh reality.
SIGH.

It was a GREAT cruise...Met lots of fun people, did the zip lines in Costa Rica (highlight of the trip), discovered the killer of Captain Lars, my lover, in the murder mystery dinner night (it was Tim, the First Mate, who at our table was really Joan. Never trust a transvestite who wears pearls before 5PM is wot I say!

And yes, I shouted lots of words of the week from both fore and aft AND when I did the superman zipline (go to www.turubari to see what I mean) at 55 miles per hour for a mile....what a hoot!

CAme home to happy pets and living plants and still some snow on the ground from a snowstorm a week back...but today was lovely and warm and there were still some fall colors to see!

I am still smiling folks...and that is a really good thing!

still some snow on the ground from a snowstorm a week back...CB

S-s-s-s-s-s-snow? Between this four-letter word and frequent trips to our happy place we usually have a conversation about this time of year that goes something like.."so, do you really think we should look into moving south?" Thankfully we haven't even turned the heat on yet, but its coming. (now that we have the water pumped out of the oil tank - long story  )

Glad to hear the cruise was a hit.

CB, your cruise sounds wonderful! Wish I was there!

Laura, I just had my IL's here for the weekend, I have not had a new baby, or a c-section, and I like them both, and I was still glad to have my space back. Hang in there! And I'm sending you pixie dust that no one falls off the shed or anywhere else, for that matter. And heck, you should just leave and come up here to record. Then you don't have to deal with the MIL ;) .

Carrie, we made out scratch recording yesterday (everyone on the same track, done quickly so you can play each part seperately to it in the real recording, and I don't lose my voice singing for 12 hours in a row), and pretty much anytime we finished a song (we did 15 in a day, shoot me now) someone would say "Cowbell, we need more cowbell!". We were getting awfully slap happy. It was pretty pathetic by the end, but hey, we got it done. I haven't been brave enough to listen to it yet, though. :p

Ain't so Happy today! Now, only if the Astros could get bumped out. Sympathies to LeftCoaster on his Angels loss.

Starbucks! WooHoo what's the occasion? Win the lottery this weekend?

After 8 days at the beach, 3 days at our house, Evan's baptism, 2 sets of parents, sisters, brothers, nephews crammed into our house (so much so that my wife and I actually slept at the neighbors), I finally can hear myself think. We've got some MAJOR cleaning and organizing to do, and one set of parents are still here, so I will make this brief and hopefully be able to get back into normal posting mode later (as long as the work scenario isn't too mind-bending - I can't even beging to fathom the mountain of tasks waiting for attention when I return tomorrow).

This week's Word-To-Scream-In-Public-For-No-Apparent-Reason is: kumquat.

Hope everyone is well. Congratulations again, lllovell, on sweet little PJ. :)
