TW - No cable??? I thought my parents were the last ones on earth. I don't htink they would have gone down tha troad if they had not been stuck at home so much this year. Living near a large city helps a lot too. ALl I culd have gotten from my house would have been 1 fuzzy CBS.
TW1,
So....when we are considering an add-on, a small HHI contract might be in order?

nono - hubby and I are seriously talking about a "small" add-on at HHI (of course finding a small contract, actually getting past ROFR, etc - might not ever happen). Our problem is not enough vacation time each year. I mean am I going to be expected to give up my two weeks at WDW??? Don't forget about the week at the beach with my family (St. George Island not Hilton Head). So, my little wheels are turning and I am thinking a small add on where we can borrow and bank and go for a week every other year or every 3rd year would be HEAVEN!!!
Now...someone slap me because I have too much debt and its not a good time...but but but - what if...I mean...Tom can look for a stripped contract for me right? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA :teleport: Beam me up Scotty - I have lost my mind!!!

TW1,
So....when we are considering an add-on, a small HHI contract might be in order?
Highly recommended.
Since we're practically neighbors you can relate to our frustration in vacationing at the Jersey shore. I mean is OC or LBI really worth $3000+ a week? I had a hard time with that for sure. Thus 5 or so years ago we went to HHI and the rest is history.
I spent my chilhood summers on LBI and longed to share that with my family. But it was SOOO out of reach!
Most folks I know who are familiar with the Jersey shore and enjoy "beachy" vacations, really love the HHI.
TW - No cable??? I thought my parents were the last ones on earth.
When the kids asked I said it would cost about $600. DD, 11, quickly said "that's almost 4 plane tickets to Orlando!" To which I said, "you are your father's daughter." Thus peace in my house over the fuzzy picture vs. cable issue.

Happy Tuesday all! Went to the dentist, had no cavities, no you don't floss enough lectures, hygientist actually indicated I had been a good girl. Yay for me! (OK still some issues that are not my fault, but I can deal with that.)
CAn I rant? (OK, who's gonna' stop me?)
I ordered teh 50th watch fo rdh for his b-day. He's very hard to buy for and I was really excited. 1st, it came and teh box was chipped. NOt a big deal. I'm really hoping he can keep the watch and I can just send the box back, though. In general, life happens. I can deal with that. What do I have to rant about you ask? (OK, pretend you're interested.) Well I had said watch shilled to work, because, duh, it's a birthday present. DH gets the mail. So, watch come Thursday adn I get home last night and what's in teh mail that dh brought in? Well, a survey card deom WDW Mail order Merchandise stating the we recently made a purchase through them and can we please fill out an on-line survey. You bet your sweet poatoot I'm filling that out! I'm hoping he did not notice it btwn 2 marathon ohoto cds, our DVCc ruise confirmation letter and some other fun stuff that cam. (Hey the only bills belong to our new neighbor. DOn't ge tme started on the postal service round here...)
However, if he did see it, I know he'll knnow what I got him. Chalk off that surprise gift. So I filled out the survey and when completed it says they won't contact you. So, I'm thining I'll go through WDW customer service and send an e-mail. I don't want to ask for anything, as really, what can make up for that, but I think I deserve an apology, because that really stinks!
OK, back to your regularly scheduled nothing. Happy day, happy thoughts. :clappingh

aaawww Carrie - I am sorry but I hope the cat isn't out of the bag!!! We will keep our fingers crossed! In this day and age where computers do everything, I am sure that is why it happened like that. There is no thought used on most things anymore and it is quite distressing to me.
Here is a good "no thought" one from my work that I have been dealing with for the last several years. We owned a shopping center with a KMart in it. Kmart went bankrupt a while back, but has become very solvent with lots of land sales, store closings and this whole merge with Sears thing. We had received shared of Kmart stock when the store closed to "buy out" the lease they had with us. SOOOO, they started allowing us to sell our shares a while back and we had to use a brokerage firm. Now, the first thing we did was correct our address from an incomplete address (not only is it missing the building and suite number line, but the street address is not complete - only about 1/2 the words are there). They correct it....then changed it back. We called again - they wanted 8,000 pounds of paperwork, corporate minutes, affidavits from all the partners, etc....we said - HELLO - WE ARENT CHANGING OUR ADDRESS, WE ARE CORRECTING IT!!! They changed it...and changed it back!!! This went on, I promise you for 6 months. Luckily, we got all of our money finally (we are talking $25000 at a time on each check and we could sell every so many days - so lots of checks!). Well, there is a little more stock being released and I got a notice yesterday that THEY HAD CHANGED OUR ADDRESS BACK TO THE INCORRECT ADDRESS AGAIN!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAA I haven't even tried to contact them to fix it again, but I am going to have to soon so we can sell that stock, etc. What I think happens here is that they have a computer program that checks the stock name and address it was issued to, then checks the computer and changes it back to how it was issued. Now, I am 99.99% sure I dont have to live at one address for the rest of my life to get stock dividends and money if I decide to sell it, so it sure seems like they have a MAJOR problem there. *smacking head* I couldn't believe it when I saw that yesterday. I laughed - one of those sad laughs, but I can assure you that first they are going to try to require me to send in all those documents again (can you imagine me being a meanie and saying no and getting my way? ) and then they will finally change it and MAYBE it will stay changed long enough for us to sell this little bit of stock! Maybe! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Anywho....hehe I am actually feeling great today and I might call them just to be annoying. :woohoo:
Peanut anyone?

I called MS this morning, to try to upgrade to a 1BR and surprise DH, as he is kinda bummed about the "slumming" in the studio for a week. No can do. Of course :hammer: , but it is always nice to try, right? It really is hard to go back to studios after the 1BRs. ack! That Tally to Orlando drive is a LONG one too! Hubby and I did that fall 2004. Went to Orlando with the kids where my dad was working to help with hurricane recovery (bellsouth). He kept the kids while we went to the Florida State football game. Another hurricane was barrelling in and I remember thinking how STUPID it was to go all the way to Tallahassee when my babies were in Orlando.... ALL THE WAY BACK IN THE CAR! One of the longest drives of my life. Ugh. We have done it under normal conditions as well, heading past Tallahassee from St. George Island to Orlando and it does take a long long time. We are going to end up doing it this spring break again I think.
We scattered Mom's ashes on St. George and she passed away on April 2nd, so my dad wants to go every year (which is fine) but he got really upset with me since we planned our WDW trip that same week two years in a row. He said, "I do this every year" but sadly I had to point out that this is only the 2nd anniv on Mom's death coming up. Poor guy. My world is still so out of balance and empty without her - his world is just destroyed. I tried to get him to come to da mouse with us....but that isn't happening! So, we wil go down the weekend before, stay at the beach Sat and Sun morning then after breakfast with the family on Sunday head to our OKW GRAND VILLA *big announcer voice* with our friends!!! Woo hoo!!! :headache: Sometimes I dont think my family realizes how much they ask...good thing I love them so

*waving* Hey AFMOM!!!
We used to be able to go pretty much all the way to WDW only stopping for one potty break, but now we are starting over again with the baby on board. I drive about an hour each day each way (by the time I take the kids to school and then myself to work, etc), so we are considered the "drivers" in my family.
The problem with the beach then WDW trip is a 5 hour drive after work on Friday night (or very early Sat morning - which makes me more tired Sat night than a lack of sleep on Friday for some reason) and then 6 hours or so again on Sunday over to WDW. One or the other would be fine but both in one weekend is a lot.
I was plesantly surprised to find HHI a little over 4 hours! To us, that is a perfectly doable weekend trip! (and we have done WDW for a weekend trip before to see a spring training game...7 hours each way if we stop to eat and let the kids play - weeeeee)

ARRRGGGGG
I am TIRED.
Today I had to dig out my garages. The deal is that my truck with a snowplow got 'ransonmed' back on Dec 16th. Tho someone TOOK it without aurthorization and won't give it back....it is a CIVIL matter....go figure.
I had to rely on the kindness of strangers to do my driveway, which is long....very, very long. And the kind people who did the dirieway didn't deal with the garages and about 2 car lenghts in front of the garages. I have 3 garages. I dug myself out of one of them, but someone pushed snow (with both a plow AND a snowblower) into this massive mound in front of the other two. It kept getting bigger and bigger and since I didn't have the truck I decided that I'd just keep the one garage free.
But it wasn't working well. So day by day I have been cutting into the mountain.
I was about 1/3 done as of yesterday and I just couldn't take it anymore....besides my elelctricity has been out all morning until aout a half hour ago. So...I went outside and dug and pushed and moved and got rid of the mountain of snow.
ANd I am soooo tired. So pass me a Yoengling or four unless you think I might stroke out from all the exertion. I did manage to call MS just now and got 5 nights at BW for the first week of October...when mar and jiggerj are also there.
Guess we may do another minnie-meet after all!!!!!
I'll be cancelling my Halloween two days that I snagged soon, unless someone is interested?

Laura, :grouphug: hugs for you and your dad! I don't know what my dad would do without my mom...
CB, sounds like you got a workout, was it the one from you know where? So, you are in a lawsuit over your truck:bugeyed: :(
Coffee's on....
Gotta go take my 2 hour (each way) drive to deliver groceries to my parents. Yep, my Dad can't figure out how to work part-time, shop, and cook. (My Mom can no longer be relied upon to go to the store and come back with all the ingredients to make meals for the week). But, there's NO PROBLEM there. And THEY DON'T WANT TO BE A BURDEN.
It's very frustrating that between my sister and me, we can not get them to make a plan! We've both offered for them to move closer to us so we can help -- and they HATE where they live...but my parents like to wait until things get critical before doing something, which generally means a panic. My sister and I prefer to get everyone thinking about solutions and then making a plan. Both of them are already going downhill fast, so we may end up in panic mode soon. :headbange :headbange :headbange :headbange Oh why oh why don't they like avoiding stressors??????

Oh, nono, that's terrible! And very frustrating. I'm in your camp, and really like to plan ahead. It must be hard for them to admit how things are going - admitting to needing help or giving up independence is very hard.
Thanks for the coffee, and under the circumstances, why don't you let one of us make it for you next time, hey?

People are great, but I don't know them well. But, I'd have access to full kitchen and could close the door if I wanted privacy. I don't spend much time in my room anyway. I'm leaning towards yes, but dh is not the social guy, although these people made a great impression on him too. Just curious which on eof us is nuts? ;) OK, we already know I am, but I'd still like to know your thoughts.

first things first....hugs to nono, CB, and llovell. CB, guess the truck isn't back yet? Yikes, sounds like a horrible situation to be in. How many more months of snow do you got? April. I can't Imagine. llovell and nono, hope things get better real quick with all your familys. Family stress is horrible stress. My parents are still independent, travel all over the country RVing. I know it's coming, though. And they haven't planned a thing.
(Reaches Minnie mug out) oh, thanks for the go juice nono. :coffee1: Yes, I am starting to pack. I dragged all the suitcases out. See, aren't you proud? :hammer:
okay, Carrie you're up. Is it this board? If it is this board, I would go in a heartbeat, everyone I have met on here has been great. Does it mean not going if you don't do it? I would do it, you will have a lockoff right? But then again, are those things guarannteed or not? I can't figure that one out. But if it meant a trip or not a trip, I would do it. just MHO. I mean you are not going to hang out the whole time, right? That is when it gets weird for me, when you go with people and they want to do everything together. That is why I guess DH and I have never brought family or friends. We are surronded by DISNEY HATERS.

Rozzie - It's not this board, but it's someone in my other marathon training team. So, I've been posting with her for over a year, met her and her dh and talked to her on teh phone for a GPS emergency. I don't think you can guarantee lockoff. It would not mean no trip, but I could end up at Pop. Not what I want. (yup, I'm spoiled). Also, great time to try SAB as their points are BCV.

I like that SSR has so many lock-offs! When we were at HHI this past weekend, hubby and I were commenting about how GREAT a lock off that studio would make. We have GOT to get our friends that travel with us to buy into DVC!!! She is currently going back to school to get her Masters in education and going to return to work. They have a deal that when she is done with her schooling, they will buy in. I can't wait!!! :doublejum

thanks for the reminder. We got some cool SSR mugs (with the horses racing) that are 4 cuppers that are a necessaity. Have to pack those. I would buy some more, but we got coffee mugs coming out of our ears. One whole cabinet in the kitchen. Those studio mugs, as DH says, don't last after 4 steps away from the pot. :D
go for it Carrie, We are so excited to try out BCV this trip. I don't think I could ever go back to normal rooms (for a whole trip) even the studios offer so much more. Love having the micro and the coffeepot. Great for leftovers. The only normal room we would stay is if I could ever snag a code rate over at AKL for Savannah view. But that is just my snobby self talking. :D They are always gone when the idea hits me.
So go and have a great time!! You will be fine, and ya'll will have a great time!:jumpingbe

Yes, do go!!!! But Rozzie makes a really good point. Find out what the expectations are re doing things together....Maybe you could bring it up by asking about dinner ressies to get the ball rolling. I have made so many firends via the internet the last few years. We go on vacations together and visit each other...it really is amazing to me how the internet has changed our lives.
Thanks all for your warm fuzzies. Awoke this morning to a huge blister on my hand and a humungous black and blue makr on my pelvic bone (where the handle sometimes jabbed when I was pushing snow rather than shoveling it.
It is supposed to snow 3 feet today. SIgh.
So is everybody keeping up with the calendar after planning those trips?
(Then we can live vicariously through each other!)

Oh, CB, I really hate shoveling snow! I really, really, do! What's up with the truck? Any expectation of getting it back? And expectation of suing them for all the plowing you've missed out on?!?!
Here, however, we are having the mildest winter ever. It seems like we just had March instead of January. Kind of weird.
Carrie, I say go too. But I also agree that you should address expectations. If you're in a lock-off, it's basically just ensuring that you'll be next door. I think I'd also find out if they're really okay with you coming in to use the kitchen and laundry, etc., but hey, I'd do it if it were someone that I'd known for a while. And you're right - it'll certainly beat the Pop!

I shoveled a stall or two back in the day, and those things would get as big as half dollars. My palms just sting thinking about your poor hands. Hopefully this will all be over soon for you.

Your empathy never fails to brighten my spirits and make me smile. (and if I were honest, I'd let you know that I often tear up too, but then I cry at McDonalds commercials.)
Yes, I am filing suit in small claims court. I will cite 'loss of use' and try to get back all the money for the snowplowing of my drive. ($80 a pop). while one can never second guess judges, or justice, I can't think of anyone who hasn't ever felt screwed with on a car repair...and I can be pretty helplessly plaintiff sweet if I set my mind to it (they don't call me 'belle' for NUTTIN). The problem is that the courts are so booked up, I'm not sure when it will be heard...and then collecting is yet another thing...no automatic judgments in small claims.
Yes, it snows through May...a long season.

Hi guys,
Have a great time on your trips. I'm jealous. My dd7's best friend is flying out this morning with her family, minus the dad who hates Disney (gasp!) and my daughter asked me last night if it would be okay if we just met them at the airport at 6 this morning and asked them to take us. How I wish!
Went to the darker side last night and thought of Gopherit. Saw Disney on Ice. Actually, I thought it was really cute, and we came in a door right by our seats, so literally did not see any of the hoopla that made our gopher so sad. I will say, though, that watching in the hockey arena, and sitting in a chair that had obviously RECENTLY had a vat of beer dumped all over it was a weird juxtapostion. I kept checking to see which of the tiny princesses might be imbibing. Just glad it wasn't one of mine. And very glad I wasn't pulled over on the way home, because I smelled like a brewery. I don't think it was Yeungling either.
Question for those who have seen it - was the Ariel who did the pairs routine without skates the same one? Did she have lightening release boots, or what? And was that man very tired after carrying her around for 3 full minutes? "Mom, I want to know!"

TW1: Sometimes our parents are embarrassed to ask for help. The really sad part is that if they 'downsize' into an easier to take care of place like a thriving retirment community, they stay independent so much longer. Do you or your bros and sisters have any young ones that you could use to maybe get your rents to move closer? Like, gee mom and dad, with both of us working, we could really use a little babysitting help now and then. It would be so nice if you lived closer by.
All: well the guy who used to take care of things like shoveling lost his job and so called this morning to see if I had any shoveling. Sigh. Of course there is another foot of snow on my driveway, so maybe I'll have him shovel instead of getting a plow in here. That 's the problem tho in this area....hard to find people who don't need full time jobs.
CAnt believe I haven't been skiing!

Well they are thinking about moving, which is a good thing. A simple apartment or smaller one floor living arrangement, where other folks do the grounds keeping, would make me sleep better.
They are very independent still. Dad puts in about 30 hours a week on a variety of township committees etc. and my mother still tutors and teaches english in the local Latin migrant farming community. And they have their health. All very good things considering they are in their late 70's.
So this leaves them with no time (an honestly little interest) in watching any of their grandchildren for any extended time.
I am very thankful they do not need any help from us. But at the same time, even if they did, they would never admit it and ask. And, when the time comes when they do ask, they live 240 miles away. Sure its pretty up there, a peaceful safe community, but its 8 miles to the closest store and the next time he totals his car from hitting a deer he may not bounce back so quickly.
ANYWAY....
Lots of PD for our travelling compadres who are lucky enough to be heading off to the happiest place on earth. Bring back some magic for us!

Title credits fade, we see a Pooh-sized bearded academic, examining the above post....
Ahhhh.... Yesss, this is clearly a fragment of so-called 'internet communication', popular in early 21st century America.......
PIUXIES, SUT and cheky-cheeky monkey dance.....
I have two theroies on this.
Piuxies Sut could be a reference to the famous Pixie Suite, a magical dance that was quite popular along the same time as the cheeky-cheeky mon$ey dance, Yuengling Beer, and Nothing in general. This was right around the first time Rash was elected President I believe.
However, one of my graduate students, a Dr. Morrow, Thomas Morrow has another theroy, Tom, Tom Morrow.......
Thank you Dr. Greenbanned, I believe PIUXIES SUT is a typo for one of two possibilities. I need to warn the audiance that both possibilities are illegal, rude and disturbing, and that small children need to be restrained at this point.
Using advanced algorhythms, I believe PIUXIES SUT could be:
1) Pixie Dust
or
2) Pixie Sluts
#1, Pixie Dust is an illegal substance frequently consummed in a crowded closet with other users (or addicts). It prodced a sensation of Euphoria, Happiness, and often in severe cases caused terminal addonitis or even worse, the highly contagious Hanname!
#2) I believe is self-explanatory, and I will not delve further at this time.......
Our show will return momentarily.......
PS my wave machine is still broken :thewave: Yours?

Dodecahedron!!!!!! Just rolls off the tounge!
We actually almost bought a house here in FL that was that shape. It was overpriced and had no garage, though.
I think I'm getting sick. Woke up and couldn't swallow.... hate that feeling. Stuffy nose (which is the most likely cause for the sore throat.....). Don't have time for a cold.
The closets offerings this morning sound wonderful. I love Earl Grey! Chocolate chip scones...... mmmmmmmmm.
Well - I have to vent about dh. We've been gearing the kids up for the Cub Scouts Blue and Gold Banquet for weeks now - they have to finish all of their requirements for their rank before it so that they can get theie "Bear" and "Wolf" rank awarded. Its this Friday at 6:30. Known about the date for weeks, it's been on the calendar, I've had to bug DH about getting some of the tool using requirements done - reiterating the date they have to be done by, etc. Well - he was obviously never really listening to the date, day, time, etc. Last night he says, oh yeah - I have a flight on Friday night! I about flipped my lid. This means so much to the kids, and he's not gone yet - so they'll never usnderstand why he can't be there. But I'll be the one dealing with their disappointment - as usual. They get the whole deployment thing, and he'll miss Easter, and some other stuff. But if he's in town - he needs to be at something like this. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
So now he tells me that he'll try to get it changed - but he would have had to have it in the schedule by last Wed.... and is blaming me for not making sure he knew the date. I'm so angry. I'm all sensitive anyway - the closer we get to the day he leaves the more sensitive I get.:boohoohoo
Sorry - had to rant.:worried:

AFMom  I know a little bit how you feel. We don't have to deal with deployment issues (but I am in awe to all the families that do!!!) but with DH's job, I kind of know how you feel about missing the important stuff. He misses many holidays and several school events. Although he tries to work around the things he can, it's not always possible. It's hard to be the one there to comfort the kids when DH is the one they feel disappointed with. :(
This is our first year with the cub scouts. DS is a Tiger, DH is the leader.....well, figurehead! He runs the meetings and wears the uniform but I do all the real work, the organizing, the meeting outlines, the supplies, recordkeeping, dealing with the parents, dealing with the committees, dealing with the extremely disorganized Pack, etc. :tsktsk: We've gotten in many disagreements about this. I told him not to sign up to be leader basically b/c I knew this would happen and I didn't want to sign onto all this stuff myself. Ok, my own little rant is over now. Sorry!!
Good Luck to you and your boys and I hope you have a great time at the Blue & Gold. (Ours is in the end of March ) I hope your DH is able to reschedule and make the big night!!!! :dust

This week's Word-To-Scream-In-Public-For-No-Apparent-Reason is: dodecahedron.
It's easier to say than it is to draw... mine always come out looking like a circle!
Greetings from the gopher hole, where it's time to hibernate! My poor tulips are so confused - had to pile the mulch on 'em extra high yesterday in anticipation for a blast of winter, NO THANKS to my distant cousin up in PA who ran from his own outline....that chicken-butt Phil. Not that I can blame him, though - if anybody hauled my furry fanny out of my heated burrow into this weather, I'd high-tail it back in the hole, too, and bite the hand that dared try to stop me, sez I....
Tired crew today - traveled last week on business, then stayed up til 3 am THurs night getting ready for Friday, which I spent at the Elem. school hosting a creative thinking program for grades 1-6. It was a blast - but WHEW, lots of work! Then hit road with fam right afterwards for a basketball tourney for son's b'ball team. Finished that mid-day Sat, then Sunday did some speedy shopping for pants for boys that grow TOO DARN FAST before heading to Super Bowl party. Didn't really care who won, though DH was sort of pulling for Seahawks in a room filled with Steelers (we're only a few hrs from Pittsburgh, so you can just imagine!) At least the food/beverage was good, haha! :yummy:
Well, lots to do today - got to catch up from taking Friday off and being gone last week - never ends. My house looks like a cyclone swept through. Poor DH turns 40 Wednesday. They announce his b'day at church Sunday and I followed it with a loud "coughcough FORTY cough cough..." He turned eight shades of red. :bagovermy He's so cute when he's embarrased. Last night folks were giving him the Super Bowl decorations (which also have "40" emblazoned all over them). I'm trying to be nice - I turn 40 in October and paybacks can be... well, you know!
Rant away Kristy! That's why the closet is open and the tea is flowing, (and a few yuenglings) We're here for this sort of thing!

I believe his attitude is one of the AF's requirements for a pilot.
They all seem to have it. What's funny, though, is that he really, honestly doesn't see this as being an issue, and expects our DS's (wo are only 8 and 9) to understand these things. I can understand them - but they can't. My older DS is having some emotional problems right now - I'm assuming because he's already getting bothered by his Dad leaving again - so this will just be icing on the cake! I'm so worried they will grow up resenting their dad - but DH is oblivious to it. Ug.
This is way too much something for a thread about nothing. I will now go back to the regularly scheduled nothingness.
Harry Potter 5 will be out on video in 1 month!!!! Yay!!!!!! Saw it in the theater - but I always like to watch again to see what I missed the first time around.

Good Morning everyone!
Cold and Blustery day here, the windows are rattling away. :brrrrrr:
On the bright side, DS's science project is finally working...with 3 days to spare! The first EBay auction I ever bid on (for a Maclaren Stroller) was out-bid 2 minutes before the ending time....which was a good thing in the long run! I have no idea how to "ebay"! So it would have taken me all day to figure out how to use Paypal and what ever else I have to do.
Hope everyone has a great day!!!

Okay, I'm just catching up everywhere, and this is too much to leap in on, but, Kristy, if you're getting a cold, run, don't walk, to the store and get Zicam. It actually works. Take it from me, I'm a singer, and one cannot sing with a head cold. If you take it early enough and it won't be a zinger, you don't get the cold. If you're a bit late, or it would have been really bad, it'll be a lot shorter, and a lot less bad.
That's the end of this commercial. Not as funny as the ones last night. As you were, people.

Speaking of kneading... Poor poor Mr. Buns (our resident house rabbit). Had to rush him to the vet today. 4 hours and 2 xrays and some IV water/meds later, doc says he is in GI stasis (in short - his stomach won't empty). SHowed me the xray showing a mass of "stuff (food, hair, etc) and big pockets of gas. If we can't get that stuff out, the gas will grow, the rabbit will give up in pain - and that will be the end of our incredibly sweet Mr. Buns. :(
So we just GOTTA get this bunny fluffin'.
The doc gave him all sorts of treatments while we were there, the most critical being water (subcutaneously). I have to administer some pedialyte-lookin stuff every 3 hrs to him, then take him back to the vet tomorrow a.m. for more hydration treatment. Meanwhile - I've been reading up on this condition, and many websites advocate gentle massage as providing comfort and relief... one site strongly recommends a vibrating massager, even. I can see me now - buying a vibrating massager for Mr. Buns.
A rabbit-owner's gotta do what a rabbit owner's gotta do, though, right?
SO I'm off to gently knead a bunny belly. Wish us luck... and fluff. :help:

So, last night dh and I went out to dinner, tried a place we've been meaning to try for a long time, liked everything, loved nothing, except for the "bruschetta with garlic glazed shrimp in lobster butter sauce and bruschetta with vinaigrette over fresh mozarella and olive oil seared sweet peppers."
Oh my. Pretty sure that didn't fit into my healthy Valentine's Day challenge. But it was very, very nice. Too bad the rest of the meal was just pretty good. Not worth the drive just for lobster butter sauce (kind of like hollandaise, but so much better). If we were closer, we'd go back, but we're spoiled with everything that's right next door.

The teachers at the school are distressed because Sunny Bunny was the first school pet and now he is gone. (school is 12 years old now...so he entertained MANY children over the years). Boy could I use some Starbucks high-test today... wonder if it comes in an IV?
Stayed up much of the night on the Mr. Buns vigil. That - and I have contracted some sort of weird thing that feels like one of my kids is sitting on my upper chest / neck. Some sort of viral thing I'm sure - dunno what's up with that. ANyhooo - I am VERY pleased to say the bunny came 'round the bend at about 1 am last night. If he passed gas, he did it discreetly, for I never heard it, LOL. BUt he sure acts like a better bun today! At about midnight I was giving him some of the supplemental solution from a syringe, and he was rubbing his little chin on me (a rabbitary sign of affection). I thought his ears felt a bit warmer (a good sign) and he seemd a trifle perkier, so I thought... hmm, let's give it a shot and gave him a leaf of romaine. He nibbled it right on down. I left him with his warm water bottle to sleep with and thought he looked at least a little better. THis morning, he was much more himself, and it appeared he had left his usual calling cards in his litter box... who knew a family could rejoice over bunny droppings? I also was able to get him to drink really well from his water bottle, thus negating the need to take him back in today for rehydration therapy. So it appears - at least for now - we have survived bunny peril. :clappingh :dancingba :goodvibes You should have seen him with me this morning - he was rubbing his face into me, kissing me, making his grunty little purr sounds, his own way of saying "thanks" I guess.... heck, not sure I've felt that appreciated by the HUMANS in my house, LOL!
As for the bunny massager... I didn't end up getting one. I had visions of picking one out, and when the clerks eyes looked at it, then at me, I'd get all flustered and say defensively, "It's not for ME - It's for Mr. BUns!" and the clerk would say, "SUre, lady - you call it whateeeeeeever you want..." (wink wink)
No thanks!
The vet did say, however, that rabbits who have had this can be more prone to have it again.... maybe I'll look into something on-line? :bagovermy

btw - Did you get hubby something equally exciting as he did you for his birthday? hehehe How about a nice pre-paid funeral??? hmmm not really personal enough. How about you pick out your retirement home together? You can do it after a nice lunch. lol!!
Well, actually, I got him a GPS (after all, when lots of folks turn 40, they have a mid-life crisis and lose their direction in life... figured this would help him stay on track, LOL!) The kids got him some videos and that ESPN DVD game. I think he's expecting me to do something evil (like plaster the yard with flamingos or tombstones or post burma-shave style placards on the main route into work, etc.) He's such a low-profile, ISTJ kind of guy, and would be mortified! But alas - I didn't do it. I'm taking a subtler approach... sort of. I submitted countless "40" decor items to his office mates, who decorated his office after he left tonight, including a classic shot of my DH when he was just 7 (my DH looked a LOT like Opie Taylor / aka Ron Howard from Mayberry RFD when was young - freckles and all). He's got his mouth totally agape and his hand on his head (like he could have had a V-8) so I added a bubble with the words, "Oh No! I'm the Big 4-0 !" They scanned the photo and now it's all over the building, I guess. ANd since their building also houses the plant cafeteria, that means exposure to 2000+ people. THey are having a party for him tomorrow so maybe some cake will make up for his embarrasment, haha. Later we're taking DH out for mexican food and then he wants to go to the high school basketball game.... where I already have it set-up to have his birthday announced at the game. Several times. With the birthday anthem, no less. :slyasafox And he has no clue.
Oh I am SUCH dead-meat in October.... :Paranoid:

Can't wait for an update on DH's birthday festivities, Gopherit!!!! My DH sounds a lot like yours:hahahaha:
Gopherit...Doc was right (not THAT Doc, the real Doc) "women are full of black magic!"
Oh, to be your DH! I hope you've prompted his office mates to take lots of pictures of his bright red face. He may be an ISTJ on the outside, but secretly on the inside I'm sure he'll love it!
Good work!

Well, mornin' all from the birthday-festive gopher-hole! :happybirt
In typical fashion, DH nearly ruined his own party today! I caught him setting the alarm clock for 5:20 am last night - uh oh, Houston, we got a problem - that meant he planed to be at work before 6 am, which meant they wouldn't have his "Big 4-0" decorations up yet! So when his alarm went off today, I got up too, made him a big breakfast, tried my best to delay him (which is really another story not fit for prime time, especially since dd picked today to do some early-morning sleepwalking.... :jawdroppi ) DH did get suspicious at one point, when I went downstairs to put the french toast casserole in the oven (lots of leftovers, folks - help yourselves!) I guess I was downstairs so long, maybe he thought I was putting flamingos in the yard or something - who knows? So he asked point-blank if I was "doing something to embarrass" him. ( And I'm thinking, if having our 5 yr old dd walk in on us isn't embarrasing, then what possible shame can some balloons and a few banners do? ) ANYWAY, he finally left at around 6:20 am, so that gave the office mates a bit more time to work. I called a colleague at 10 am who visited his office to extend her birthday congrats / condolences - she said they are handing out black "40" armbands to all who enter his building. Too funny. I'm going over at noon for the cake... and the flack from DH, I'm sure!
Meanwhile, Mr. Buns is clearly his hoppy, happy self again. Gotta love that. Now if we could just win Powerball tonight, life would be complete....

Is that where the song "Got a Black Magic Woman" comes from? Funny - I don't recall hearing it on the Snow White soundtrack.... :tunes:
Yup, my poor ISTJ hubby puts up with a lot from his ESTJ wicked wifey! :Pokepoke:

That is so awesome, you little sneaky rodent! You are my role model in life now.:wearenumb You'll pay for it - but isn't it worth it!!!!!?????
My DH's b'day is tomorrow, and he won't even let me tell the waitresses to sing him Happy Birthday when we go out to dinner. He's a party pooper. No way can I tell his work. Have any idea what a squardon of pilots and gunners do to you on your b'day??? Especially if the little wife calls in??? Talk about not fit for prime time! Lets just say it isn't very nice and probably includes the use of duct tape and a blindfold......:jawdroppi These guys quit maturing at about the age of 12. SO we keep it hush hush there and hope the commander doesn't look at his files very often! They know it's this month (he has to have a physical and a check-ride (a test flight), but hopefully not the day!
Anyway - does your DH know anything about geocaching? It's a great way to put that GPS to use! Go to www.geocaching.com and look around. We LOVE it - the kids have a blast - it's great quality time with the family.
My cold is finally here, I did go get Zicam - praying it helps! I'm moving like a slug toady - but this extra strong coffee should help. I made extra - help yourselves. It's the kind that can hold a spoon upright - so beware!
Gotta function soon - have to go buy stuff to make a b'day cake, and I think I'll make that recipe for the casserole on the dining thread tomorrow morning. Low-carb, schmo carb!

Laura, that's a rallying cry I can get behind! But not too energetically, or it'll ruin the momentum.
Gopherit, you crack me up. My dh would absolutely kill me. Not to mention that it sounds more complicated than plotting the Normandy invasion. I'm so not worthy.
I went to the gym last night which is so not normal, and ran 3.5 miles, which is so not me, and came home to dh who had a migraine, and said, "Honey, could you walk the dog tonight?" Aaaahhhh! No, no I can't ! And I don't mean I don't want to , I mean, I really don't think I can! How mean am I?

Just had to post - I got up at 4:50 this morning to make that Crystal Palace Breakfast Lasagna for his B'Day.... DH has to eat before 5:30 to leave for work. Ug! Early mornings not good! He's not out of bed yet - the man can get ready in about 5 minutes! Maybe I should get a flat-top.....:p
I really hope it turns out - never made it before!
On a plus note.... after all "disappointing the children" argument regarding their award banquet - well, the powers that be decided to make Friday a "Down Day"... no flights and DH now has the whole day off work. So he can go... YAY! Of course - I pick that day to volunteer at the kids' once per week zoo-school. :hammer: Oh well - what can you do????

You must be living right, Kristy! I hope your lasagna gives him WDW daydreams today...
Great news Kristy.
BTW any leftovers?
OK at least its sunny outside, almost enough to calm my nerves.
Here's my tale of woe for today.
I drive the kids to school every morning. Well, DD can be a bit scattered sometimes and can forget to pack things in her bag that she may need. While we do go over things before we get in the car, inevitably there will come a day when something doesn't make it.
Well, guess what today was...one of those days.
One day last year, in a typical fatherly-rage, I refused to turn the car around and go home to get whatever she forgot. Well that quickly became the rule..."daddy does not turn the car around..." and it has been enforced on her and her brother a few times.
So, today, we're about a mile from home and she forgets a notebook.
I broke my own rule and turned around. And, yes, she was very appreciative to say the least. I got them to school and was half-way to the office when the cell phone rings. DW calling to say DD has forgotten something else and can I go home to get it?
Anyone wanna guess what I said?

TW1 - :grrrrr:
My youngest DS is the same way..... I have to check and double check everything before we leave to go anywhere. He's 8 and I still remind him to put socks on before his shoes, to go to the bathrooom before we leave, to get his backpack on Fridays when we go to Zoo School. I'm thiking of making a gigantic poster for his room with a checklist - but then I'd have to remind him to look at it. :headbrick Don't even start me on brushing his teeth. I have to be the toothbrush dictator! God love him - but on my short temper days, I can really loose it!
Yes - there were leftovers, and I just ate more!!!!! Bad, bad, bad........
Sadly - I don't really want DH to have any WDW daydreams - most likely he won't be coming with us in December. He's scheduled right now to deploy again that week. Ug. I have guilt. :bagovermy But we promised DS (the forgetful one didn't forget this) that in 2006 we would go for his birthday. So off we go with DH's mom and dad. We're hoping things might change, but you never know.

Awww nuts Carrie!
Here is some Pixie Dust! :dust I hope you get your work situation calmed down soon and here is some more for the inlaws! :dust Hang in there. We will all be here when you get back. :) I mean where would we go? Other than WDW :lovestruc I think the Nothing Thread is where many of us live!
OMG Kristy! I want that recipe please! I bet it was uber yummy! Heck, if it is easy enough, I might even make it for breakfast for us when we go down in April (already make my easy peasy sausage and egg cassaerole when we are down. Toast a bagle and it is breakfast for 2 days for the 4 of us!)
I think your ideas about the list are actually g
