Bavaria you must watch out for those benches, they can get pretty shifty.
Hubby is doing very well, thanks for asking.
Viking, while I'm not a vegetarian, I do not eat meat. I eat fish and dairy.
I tell people that I eat nothing with eyelashes:Pokepoke:
AFMom I hope all turns out well for your Ds. Pixie dust and prayers for you:hug:
PoohsPal cinnamon is my favorite flavor, want to share?
Erin I hope you feel better real soon. Must not show roots:hahahaha:

Hallo!!!!
Glad to see everyone is doing fairly well. Nono - is the knee still bummed or is this a "time to time" issue? nothing like a little knee troubles to make life oh so fun!
Erin - I am not sure if they still have those for sale or not. But, I bet if you pulled in past the front desk, walked back and asked to buy them, they wouldn't care what room you are in. I realize that you probably don't want to risk that but it might be worth a shot. Have you checked AAA prices? I bet there are other discounts available up there as well, but I am not sure how to find them exactly. Sort of like Six Flags where we went on Sunday. I knew SOMEONE had to have discounts and I finally found out it was Home Depot with the BOGO ticket coupon. You might try googling Dollywood discounts and see what you find.
btw - Six Flags was a BLAST! I was so expecting to be disappointed after loving WDW so much, but we had a fantastic time. I told hubby it was the kind of day that would trick you into buying a season pass only to return and never have it that enjoyable again. Not hotter than 80 degrees, only one wait in line for 20 minutes, the rest were pretty much walk ons. Not a lot of roaming packs of teens (which is my main memory of Six Flags...a teenager walking around with my friends - probably being totally annoying in a self-absorbed teenage sorta way). This was Charlie's treat for working so hard this summer on his reading.
Speaking of, I had his fall quarter conference yesterday and he is doing GREAT! A big worry off my mind since he wasn't reading well at the end of last year. He is reading on a 2nd grade level now (he is 6 - in the equalivent of 1st grade at a Montessori school) so I think all that hard work really paid off :) Lots and lots of praise for my boy last night :)

Wow, nothing thread certainly perked up this morning! Must have been the coffee!
Bavaria, hope the bruises and pride heal quickly. Erin, hope you are feeling well enough to make that appointment.
We did the ferry from Lewes (I think...can't scroll back that far LOL) to Cape May after visiting my sister in Rehobeth/Dewey for week a few years back. Ride was nice, we just wanted to avoid driving miles and miles and miles through DE again! Hope Dsis never reads this! :Paranoid:
That reminds me! Any of you NJ'ers know a decent hotel/motel near the Meadowlands/Continental Arena? We're going to a concert there in 2 weeks and thought it would be better to stay over night than drive the 2 hours home afterward. Doesn't have to be the Ritz Carlton, but I don't want to pay by the hour either IYKWIM. :hahahaha: Thanks!

Ouchie Bavaria! Not sure which would hurt more...your knees and ankle or your bruised ego doing all that in front of co-workers. I hope you mend quickly!
Good thing the nothing bus is very well padded these days. We seem to be developing a number of knee/ankle/foot issues!
Maybe it is too much yuengling :P
Yikes Stimpy - good luck with that hotel search! One of the reasons I am always concerned when booking hotels in places I am not familar with. :Paranoid:

I need one of these chasing me around :drillserg
Maybe I can get Rozzie or Erin to help me out since they are both watching what they eat, etc. It is just time.

Beach was great!!!! You should have called in sick, The Viking, and come for a visit! :sunny:
ETA: Daughter is so helpful with the mouse these days! Also wanted to say knee feels great right now...but I'm supposed to run 6 tomorrow...we'll see if the extra yoga I did the last two days helped stretch out this thigh band at all (IT band -- iliotibial band).

Soozaay,
Um, what are you planning on purchasing??? The ferry with a car is about $80 (with the reservation fee) and you are staying over....when does the savings kick in? BTW, airfare to MCO for the middle of the week of 10/18 is $148 on CO. Might be cheaper to go to Disney! :)
It's really just the shopping experience that I'm looking the most forward to :kickingco ... we're driving down & taking the ferry back (that way we're not on a time schedule on Saturday - - believe it or not, it takes us just about the same amount of time if we drive vs. the ferry - - we're going to AC on Sunday, otherwise we'd drive home too....we're staying at the Comfort Inn for $59 (I have NO idea how I got that deal....now they're sold out :woohoo: ). We had to get away & this is something (outlets in DE) we haven't done in about 3 years....the last time we were staying in Ocean City, MD. I would LOVE to go to Disney instead, but since all Studios are sold out, we'll just go more times in 07. Did you know that there's a Disney Store Outlet there? If so, have you been & can you rate it?
$5.99 beach towels at the Disney Outlets there. They are the thin kind that dry in coastal humidity!!! We really gave them a workout this summer, and they are still very vivid at the end of a season. Didn't really look for anything else.
Good luck in A.C. Boy, you really aren't on a "savings" trip, are you? :veryconfu I was misled with your NO SALES TAX excitement. :o

Ok, so the whole going to AC defeats the purpose of saving $$...Harry was able to get 2 nights at Harrah's for free (hotel), so, we're basing the rest of the extended weekend from there to visit other places along the shore....Wildwood, Ocean City, etc. I just love not having to pay tax on anything...my $$ will only be spent on FUN....tax is not fun. (Does that make sense?!?)
We could've gone to WDW and paid for a hotel room, but Harry has a real problem with paying for a hotel room when we're already "paying" for DVC  .... I'm not fighting it...at least I get to get out of my house for the weekend, to somewhere new.
Lots of :dust to you, Soozaay for the A.C. part of your trip!!! Maybe it'll be a free trip afterall!!!
BTW, we gotta work on your hubby about this deal about no spending on a room at Disney 'cause of DVC. Hmmm....we have to introduce him to weekend points charts for a start....

Okay, read of all yesterdays posts, still can't stop laughing.....:hahahaha: :hahahaha: the thought of Viking taking his church youth group anywhere...........:hahahaha: :hahahaha: Okay, Okay, I'm going to try to control myself.....:hahahaha:
I can't believe it's only Wed. It seems like this week is dragging. I did manage to go and get my hair done yesterday. I'm hoping that I'm not going to end up wishing that I would have stayed home. My "regular" girl is working two jobs right now, so she couldn't arrange to get my hair done for a few weeks. I couldn't stand to wait that long, so she worked it out for one of the other girls at the salon to color it for me. Only problem was that she couldn't find my history card that lists the color we used in the past. So we had to just look through the book and pick a color (I sooo hate that). Last time I had some reddish highlights put in and I really liked it. Well, lets just say that Raggedy Ann and I might have some things in common these days. DH promised me that "it looks fine". We had a soccer game for DD10 last night (lost again, like 12-0, I lost count it was soo bad) and DD7 looked at me and says "MOMMMM, what did you do to your hair...did you dye it or something??? It looks like it has red streaks in it (she starts poking at my head) red, dark, red, dark, red, dark!" DH is trying to contain his laughter, my Mom and Dad are both laughing. I start quoting scripture ( I always do this when my children drive me insane or make fun of me) proverbs 31. "And her children will rise up and call her blessed...." My Mother starts laughing again, and of course has to remind me that I am only getting back what I dished out to her growing up. Don't you just love having your parents around to remind you of that?? Still feeling yucky today. I've gotta get over it before Sat. We are supposed to go deep sea fishing with a big group from church. I've never been bothered in the past, but I didn't go out already feeling nauseous. Raggedy Ann signing off for the day......
19 inch - and holy moly it is big :holymoly: I feel like I need to back up!

Howdy from the burrow! Actually, more like the doghouse last night. Kids had a soccer game, so I went to watch, then had to leave right at the end for a school mtg. Well, mtg ran late, then went to Lowe's to get DS11's stuff for his project so he could work on it today... came home around 8:30.... to a family that had never eaten dinner! They were basically waiting on me to fix it. Uh, hellloooo, plenty of spaghetti or gumbo in the fridge, people. I swear, survival skills, they have none. Except for my dd - who apparently, at some point, got fed up and had the sense and ability to grab some bread and make toast for herself and have a glass of milk with it! Is the ability to forage somehow comprimised by a Y chromosone?!? I wonder!! In addition to spaghetti and gumbo, we had pizza in the freezer, and plenty of fixin's for subs, salads, etc. We are NEVER low on food. DH said he thought I was "bringing something home with me." Uh, yeah, like I would risk THAT, only to be told, "Why did you do that? We have all those left-overs in the fridge!!" No thanky, pal. I figured at that point, he was just determined to put the blame on me, and the REAL issue was that I was "off at a meeting". Whatever.
Soooooo... today I get the pleasure of overseeing DS11 as he sorts through bunny poop and digs up dirt in our yard for his sci fair project. Oh joy. THe other day, DS was "collecting" poo from Mr. Buns cage and complaining MIGHTILY about it. Welcome to my world, kiddo - DS scoops the litter box one time, and nearly dies from it, while I do it the other 99.9% of the time and somehow manage to survive. Go figure. Mr. BUns was funny about it, though - he would NOT leave Evan alone while he was scooping... kept rubbing his chin all over him, nuzzling up under Evan's hand, etc. It was like he was trying to say, "WOW! Someone besides Mom loves me enough to scoop my poop!" I have to agree wtih the little lagomorph - it IS a pretty strong statement of dedication! Based on all the internet sites advocating bun poo for gardens and compositing, I am beginning to think we could make some moolah off that rabbit's waste, LOL. Maybe Evan's sci project will be a big success and we'll have a whole new source of monetary input from Mr. Bun's.. er, output!
Do your kids ever watch that show "Mythbusters"? I love for our kids to watch it b/c it really does teach good scientific principle (Get Curious? Get data!) Anyway, we were watching an episode recently where they explored the "5 second rule". Basically, they busted that myth wide open (especially if the food is wet or can meet flush with the floor surface; a slice of cheese is much worse than a dry cracker, for example, but none were too good!) The food was contaminated within a single contact - even at 1 or 2 seconds. What was interesting, however, was where they found the least bacteria. THey tested all sorts of surfaces: kitchen floor, carpet, bathroom floor... and yes, even a toilet seat. Oddly enough - toilet seat had the LEAST bacterial growth! Must be all those bottom ends buffin' it clean, LOL. That, or maybe assuming it is dirtiest, it gets cleaned more often with anti-bacterial products? I had all sorts of ideas for projects after watching that show. I suggested DS10 he should do a study on antibacterial soap and see if he could tell who is dirtier (or doesn't clean as well) - boys or girls? He could have kids press their thumbs on the petris before lunch (before and then after they wash with soap) or after recess (when they are grubbiest) and then after washing hands after recess... COuld be cool seeing who grows the most colonies, LOL. But DS wanted to do something "fun" (i.e. involving edibles and working with a friend) so he's doing that candy thing instead. I guess that's what is important - it has to be something HE is curious about, not me!
Well, speaking of science experiments, I have a few right here I need to get crackin' on. LATER!
I'm a priceless example of consequences.
That's a good one, mind if I borrow it?

Erin, had to laugh (sorry!) about the hair story. Similar thing happened to me a few years ago when i went to have "highlights" put in my med. brown hair. My "usual" person was out, but hey ASSURED me someone else could do that for me... and from around the corner came this fella with combat boots, chains attached here there and everywhere, his own less than lovely locks pulled back hap-hazardly into a ponytail of sorts, and a smock that, instead of his name, read only: "FREAK".
I should have run.... but I didn't.
No, instead, I let the Freak tell me his life story of his band, play9ing in the mosh pits, how many bones he has broken, yadayada, all while supposedly highlighting my hair. At one point he peeked under the dryer and said, "I dunno... whaddya think, you done yet?" He was totally serious.
I looked in the mirror - my hair was now a glorious multi-hued tuft of white, yellow, and orange... with two big medium-brown tufts poking out on each side at the bottom down near my neck. It was like Madonna gone wrong.... and I didn't even like Madonna gone right, so just IMAGINE. He then asks if I want it cut (I respond NO!) and proceeds to style it.... by holding the hairdryer about 6" away to my head and just blowing my hair to kingdom come. I swear I was looking for the hidden cameras but there were none. He said, "Wow, man, your hair is getting frizzy." I responded, "Yeah, USUALLY I use a BRUSH to STYLE it while I dry it." "Oh yeah? Huh.... I don't have one.... lemme see what I can dig up..." He returns with 3 or 4 different type brushes and nary a clue which one to use. I took the dryer and a brush, toldhim to stand clear, and finished the job (which was pointless, because as soon as I could get to my car, I slapped a hat on my head!) 3 days later, after a lot of attempts to console me by DH, and way-too honest reactions from my kids (Ds was 6 at the time and wouldn't let me pick him up from school that day - said, "Um, that's not MY mommy!" and DS7 wouldn't let me so much as walk out the door without saying, "Don't forget your hat, Mom!") I got the whole thing fixed. Took 2 hours, but it was worth it. SInce then, I have dabbled with coloring my own hair. Had some success.. and some less than what I expceted experiences, LOL. RIght now I'm a bit too orange for my likes. Clashes with my wardrobe! I am waiting just a few more days and then going back to my good ol' reliable just-like-God-intended-me-to-be-if-the-gray-didn't-keep-interfering-BROWN. Hope you either learn to love yours or find a way to make it work as painlessly as possible!

well won't be a long post for sure. It has been a week of all weeks!
First the bank "lost" a $4,000 deposit. (it's still in dispute, I did get MY money, as I always keep the deposit slip. Can you imagine if I lost it????) Oh yeah the whole Postal Service losing a months worth of mail, well 2 1/2 weeks. Mail that is lost forever.
So Scott and I go out of town to Biloxi. Stay at the Beau Rivage. Sweet! Pampered luxury, plamsa screens, triple sheets, service incredible. My parents drive over yesterday, to play some and eat at the Buffet. Soon as I see my mom, she is all out of breath and her face is white as a ghost. The boarding facility we had our greyhound Inky at been trying to call me. (my cell wasen't working over there for some reason) Inky had broken her leg, and needs surgery, a specialist. I booked her a suite. Her own private room, with a raised bed and TV, and pillows, etc. All glass front, very swank, and very $$$. She stayed there on our May trip, and seemed to have a good experience, and the staff really loved her.
Well sometime in the night, she jumped from the bed, and they believe as she jumped her Right rear leg got caught in the railing of the bed, and it broke. So my precious baby layed all night suffering. When they discovered her the next morning, and saw she couldn't walk, did a xray, and walaaa, a broken tibia. Gave her some pain meds and tried to call me at home. Now why in hell would they try me there if I boarded her because I was going out of town? Then they tried on cell phone, never tried DH's phone, but tried my mom's #, they had on file from our May trip. Fast forward, I talk to the vet, go ballastic, she is transported to a specialist in Mobile (30 min away) , a canine orthopedic miracle worker, and first thing this morning she had surgery. We ended staying last night in MS, and drove first thing this morning. By the time they got a hold of us, the kennel was closing. We had our cousin who is a vet in Mobile go and see her last night, and study with the ortho vet the xrays. The ortho vet was incredible, and very compassionate. Of course they are picking up the vet bill, which should easily reach several thou by the end of this mess. I am waiting to see if she survives the recovery before I decide on a attorney for other losses. Her prognosis is good, I guess I see way too much bad stuff. Trying to stay positive.
Oh yeah, she will be non weight bearing for 6 weeks. If anyone has any ideas on how to keep a greyhound non weight bearing for 6 weeks, let me know! :worried: Scott and I will be making a pallette on the floor with her for the first week. I visited with her today at the big canine hospital, and layed on the floor with her forever. Scott laying down on the other side of her. She was so dopey, and has a bright hot pink cast. When she heard our voices whe picked her head up, and raised her paw like she always does to get loved. There is a big sign on her cage that says "under no circumstances are Inky's bed or frog animal to be moved". Yikes, I remember yelling about that before my xanax. I wanted to make sure she had her beloved frog when they trasnported her.
Tomorrow, back to the hospital. We stopped by petsmart and got her a new "baby" that matches her cast. She should be discharged on Friday. She is old, and it will be a long recovery. I so blame myself, she is so innocent and relies on me to protect her from harm. So helpless she is, and probably wants to know why her mom would send her somewhere where she could be so treated. I really thought it was a good place. Why in hell would they have a bed where there foot could get caught? Why didn't I inspect the bed? When I dropped her off I had this mother bear instinct, and asked to see her again. It was my 6th sense telling me something was going to go wrong. It only I would have listened!!
Well sorry to be so long. Just so many emotions. Thanks for listenig. <<hug>>

aw, Rozzie, sending big hugs your way..... I think that we have a special responsibility to look after animals and do the things for them that they can't do for themselves. I know that you have such a big heart for animals.....please don't blame yourself.
Wishing a speedy recovery for Inky, and hopefully a less stressful time for you.

#1 -- OUCH -- that's horrible! Hang in there, Rozzie! And Inky!
#2 -- To answer your question above, try a 2 yr. old lab who had knee surgery and needed 8 weeks....that was my life. What we did: We put her leash on her and secured it under the living room couch (pull out so very, very heavy). Then we made her a mini-apartment there in the LR, so other dog could lay with her, as could H and me. (different H than you know). She was allowed out 2x a day for potty breaks...that was IT! After 6 weeks, she was in swim therapy with the horses...got an infection...I said, heck, let's open the pool early. She did swim therapy at home. Got better. Lived 'till 15.5. She was a good girl! Best of luck!!!

Rozzie - honey...you know you are a good doggy mommy! Don't beat yourself up for things that happen when you had no control. It no doubt IS a good place, just as with small children, animals sometimes find ways to hurt themselves that we don't see coming. You would have never left her in a dangerous place and i know that and you know that as well deep down. I know you are heartbroken and so worried. Please don't do this to yourself!!!
We are all here if you need us hun.

Oh, Roz - it was just one of those flukes. Who'd a thunk she'd get her leg caught? You certainly can't be hard on yourself. Thing happen - it could have been some other way, at your house, whatever - animlas and children all manage to injure themselves!!!
We rescued a 6 mo old Anatolian Shepherd that had been hit by a car 2 years ago. She had to have extensive reconstructive surgery on both front legs. She had to keep off her legs for 8 weeks as well. Boy was that a challenge. On top of that, all of the skin on her right paw had come off, and we had to take her to the vet everyday for bandage changes for 4 weeks. Ug.
Anyway - The first week, she didn't want to move - so it was no problem. Be aware that the anitbiotics they give your puppy will probably make her have loose stools (sorry :blech: - a bit gross,,,, but hey....) and not feel well. You'll have to carry Inky out to use the potty and then support her while she is going. A towell used as a sling under her belly will work great. (this Anatolian already weighed 78 lbs when I was doing this). On top of that - the cast and splint, etc have to stay dry and clean, so you'll have to cover it everytime you take her out (we made booties out of waterproof vinyl that slipped over the casts).
After the first week, she'll probably want to move around and play - we actually had to give our dog sedatives to keep her from injuring herself (multiple fractures, pins in both legs, etc). Hopefully you won't have to go this route, but it may be neccessary. Usually after 2 weeks they can support enough weight to go potty by themselves, but still no playing.
It is heartbreaking, and a lot of work. Hang in there. I'll be empathizing with you from afar!!!

thanks for all the good wishes and advice. Nono and Kristy, hats off to you. Sounds like you have had way more to deal with than me. I can't imagine the extent of those rehabs. Talked to the vet tonight, and he said Inky is waking up more, and complemented her so many times on how sweet and calm she is. That is her personality all the time. So I was relieved to hear she is getting back to her old self. She is mamma's sweet baby for sure. The vet said she should do well with rehab, as her demeaner is so calm. I can't say enough great things about the ortho vet. I guess I am used dealing with docs everyday who roll their eyes when having to talk to family members. He has been so patient and kind. He said he has no kids either (he's in his 50s), and understands fully my anger, shock, and anxiety, and doesn't blow off when I say, "this is my child".
Nono, I am taking your idea and running with it, about the "apartment" --- we also have a heavy pull out. Think it's a great idea. And Kristy, that's a excellent idea about the towel and potty breaks. I tell ya what, who needs wikipedia when we have the Nothing thread!!
Thanks again for all the hugs and understanding. Ya'll are the best group of friends a girl could ask for.

Oh Polly, I can't imagine the horror. Big <<hug>> to you. Sounds like a really freak thing though. It's so easy to blame ourselves isn't it?? Heart conditions are one of those hidden, very hidden issues. I had my other "daughter", oldest greyhound, die in my arms last year with a heart attack. I thought she was healthy as a horse. She just had a clean "bill of health" from the vet. :tearsaref

Rozzie, so so sorry to hear about Inky, and like the others said, cut yourself a break - accidents happen. I know how hard it is NOT to look for a way you could have "prevented" it, but hindsight really is 20/20 and we're all human. ANd you'll give her 110% in your care, that's certain! HOpe the recovery is swift and sure!
Before DH and I had little gophers, we had our 2 cats ("his" cat Spice and "MY" cat Sugar, from same litter). I pointed out to DH that "his" cat appeared to have a problem. As the kittens neared their 1st birthday, every time the phone rang, his cat would seemingly chase its tail. Then it got a bit worse - sudden movement or noise would seem to make it disoriented - it was having small seizures. So I insisted he take the kitty to the vet - no more awaiting - so on a Friday afternoon, that's what he did... and the vet decided they wanted to keep her overnight for observation. So that's what we did. The next morning, we got a call : there had been a fire, and the vet clinic, and the 20 animals housed at the clinic, everything - all were gone. We were devastated. And I felt incredible guilt that had I not "forced" Dh to take "his" kitty, it would still be here. We were angry too (if she was being observed... who was observing her? Turns out the "observer" was in the upstairs apt. playing video games and having a few brewskis.) But we at least make peace with the fact she was likely uder heavy sedation and passed peacefully. And in no human possible way could we have ever known it would happen - tragically, it simply did.
Polly, we too had a cat with an issue due to tooth cleaning. I think I've told this sage before, but the cat we got after SPice died had a cerebral hemorrhage after a tooth cleaning. THe vet claims she must have been "predisposed" to it, but she had her teeth cleaned before with no issues. Another vet suspected there was a mishap during the procedure, but wouldn't go any further than to say that. All we know si that this poor kitty came home to us deaf, blind, and unable to control any muscle in her body. She would try to eat and just totally spasm and fall flat on her face in the food. She couldn not swallow. They inserted a tube in her and kept her at the vets for a while, until I finally said ENOUGH - she is NOT happy here, this is NOT home, let me take her home and see if we can at least give her a reason to LIVE! I took her home, and out of safety, kept her in my closet by day, coming home from work every 2 hrs to feed her through the tube. At night ,when our small kids were sleeping, I would carry her downstairs to encourage her to walk about, regain her senses. She never did get her hearing back, and her vision is probably not what it was, though she is able to see well enough. Her equilibrium isn't too great (if you startle her, she trips over herself). And she thinks she is a kitten again, so there's some form of mental regression there. She's been this way now for 8 years, though, (she's now 15) and a sweeter, more loving cat you have never met.
Well speaking of critters, DS11 and DH and I spent the better part of the afternoon sorting through bunny poop and diggin in the dirt. Man, the composted rabbit poo sure does smell a WHOLE LOT BETTER than the "fresh" stuff. We gave up on picking poop out of the bunny litter (which is that biodegradable fluff-stuff) so DS had the great idea: Let's change the project to how bunny "litter" improves soil quality, instead of just bunny "poop". Works for me, especailly since that's exactly what DH has been doing - taking the bunny LITTER out to the compost heap and later tilling it all into the garden / flower beds area. From everything DS has found on the internet, this project should work. We'll see.
Got a call from the parent of the kid my other son is supposed to be working with for their project. Man, this mom sounds like she is gonna do the project herself! Everything I said the kids would need to do, she piped up, "Oh, I can do that. I'll type that up. I can make the board. I can arrange that." What?!? I think not. At least the chemistry stuff I KNOW the kids will get to do, cuz I'll make sure of that! As a judge, I think seeing boards that look TOO adult are a big red light for me to find out WHO did the work - and does the kid even have a clue what it's about?!? One kid last year had a thermo equation with a delta in it... I asked him "say, what's the triangle about here?" and got a totally blank expression - he had no idea. Said his dad put it there. I think too often, thanks to grading systems and class pressure, parents push their kids for that grade or ribbon, not the learning experience. (It's times like these I envy homeschooling, Kristy!) It should be about what's learned, not the grade. I am betting that if there were no awards involved, no grades, and this science fair were held on a Saturday afternoon "let's explore science together " type event, the kids that come would get a whole lot more out of it. I loved the reactions of the kids during the Halloween science fun day I helped host last year - the kids were SO into it, they were totally ready to fore-go recess just to do all the experiments. Now THAT is real learning.
Gopher hopping off soapbox and into the shower... another day, another dollar, and tomorrow I have to get kids to school, put in 7 hrs, then host girl scout mtg bike safety segment, then get dd fed, dressed and over to soccer, exchange dd for the boys, put them both in uniforms and haul them to a church in town to sing, then grab them some food somewhere along the way, then buy flowers at Lowe's for DS11's project, then head home to check homework, get showers and put kids in bed.
Whew. I'm tired already. :faint: Friday, you can't come fast enough!

Rozzie  It's so hard to be a Mommy! Let the mommy guilt go, you did what you thought was best! It sounds like a freak unfortunate accident, maybe it was preventible but you didn't know something like this would happen. (And that is no bad reflection on you! Sounds like the kennel has alot of explaining to do!) I'm definately sending you and Inky so much pixie dust and good vibes for a quick recovery!! :goodvibes
We were just at a festival on Saturday where a Greyhound Rescue group was there. I was explaining to DS (& DD but she didn't quite get it  ) how Rozzie rescued her dogs that way. He wanted to take one home, but we gave a donation instead!
To all the other "fur baby" parents.... to you guys too! So many sad stories. It's so nice to hear about the great outcomes for some and heartbreaking to hear some of the others. Having lost 4 pets in a 2 year span, 2 medically related after many surgeries, a few years back, I know how upsetting it can be. They were all part of our family and I still miss them.
Stimpy
10-05-2006, 02:27 PM
On to some personal nothingness....DS lost his first "toof" yesterday at school and didn't know it! He came off the bus, I took one look at him and asked "where is your tooth??" He felt his mouth and said I don't know! How do you not know you have a loose tooth and how do you not know it fell out?? After asking a million questions, he told me he had some blood in his mouth at lunch and just spit the blood out. So I assume the tooth went with it. He immediately wrote a letter to the tooth fairy when we got home to put under his pillow. The Fairy could've got off so easy b/c after explaining what happened he wrote "can you please leave me a quarter or something?" Heck I used to get silver dollars and that was ... ahem.... a few years back.
This kid has always had an extremely high threshold for pain. He literally never felt shots, never felt pain when teething, he's been know to show up with blood all over him and have no idea what happened or where it hurt! We honestly thought we would be spending lots of time in the ER with him since he feels no pain. (So far only 1 trip...knock on wood!) So it doesn't surprise me so much that he didn't feel it fall out. But wouldn't you know it was loose??? I mean doesn't every kid play with it when it's loose? I remember constantly moving it back and forth and doing gross "kid type" things with loose teeth :lmbo:
Anyway, I was a little sad last night :worried: None of his other "firsts" made me feel that way. First steps....great! First time leaving with a babysitter...couldn't wait! First day of school...exciting! First tooth, I was so upset that I'll never see that cute little boy smile with all the "perfect" tiny teeth anymore. Now he'll be a big boy with a "adult" smile....ok first he'll have that really awkward smile with the mix of giant teeth, gaps from missing teeth and some babies still in there!
And on that note....have to go get supplies and crap ready for the ding dang dern cub scout meeting tonight! :ROTFL:

Rozzie- so sorry about Inky. Don't beat yourself up, you did the best you could. Accidents happen. Hopefully Inky will heal quickly.
Stimpy- your story about DS lost tooth brought a smile to my face. You should see DD7 right now, she's lost about 6 teeth in the last couple of months. She has holes everywhere! We used to laugh at my niece. She never had any teeth to give the tooth fairy. She either swallowed them, or lost them, but never had any to give to the tooth fairy.:tinker: She was always writing notes to leave under her pillow. It's hard not to be sad about the milestones in our kids lives sometimes. I'm kinda like you, going off to school didn't bother me, babysitting didn't bother me, some of the smaller stuff does. The first days of Kindergarten walking my oldest DD in didn't bother me at all. But the first day that I used the car line, she hopped out of the car and walked away from me into her Kindergarten class, I bawled all the way home.
I'm feeling a little better today. I went to the drugstore last night on the way home and bought some Zantac. Not sure if Acid reflux might be the issue, but the medicine seems to be helping.
Kristy- how did the evaluation go yesterday??
AFMom
10-05-2006, 03:21 PM
Eval went fine - actually I was a bit disappointed - she barely looked at all of the stuff we brought! I wanted more feedback that I got. Anyway - I have the paper signed and ready to send to the school board - that's all that matters, really.
Ya know, Gopherit - I'm in hcarge of our homeschooling group's science day once a month - I do a few demos in front of te group (last month it was weather, this month it'll be simple machines), and then the kids get to go around to stations and do about 6 experiments. They love it. I do wish our group had a science fair - but I'm not up to organizing it. We do have an art show once a year- which is awesome!
Milestones that made me cry..... oh - well - that'd take all day to list!!!! I get more weepy now just looking at old pictures of them when they were small. They change so fast!
OK - 10 minutes until we have to leve for DS's therapy.....
Caught a cold, feeling a bit miserable at the moment. I hope this one clears up soon!
Rozzie - hope all is going well with Inky today.....

Just a quick update: Inky is home! :goodvibes When we went to visit her today, they said if we wanted we could take her home, that she is being really well behaved. Also she is losing weight, probably from the stress of the kennel hospital. (picture the Lady and the Tramp kennel pound scene) So home she is now, laying by my feet. Of course, she has meds to take, bandages to change, appts every week. But she is HOME! I'll fatten her back up. One thing I know how to do, is fatten myself up, and dogs up, LOL. (oh, husbands too...) Going know to give her a big ole spoon of peanut butter. Protein's good for wound healing too! :fingerscr

You know what's good for the puppy - ribeyes and t-bones. Nothing makes a puppy feel better than gnawing on some raw meat.
When my dog Bismark (aka Plasma TV) ripped the bumper off some pickup truck, he was in pretty bad shape (huge gash from his hip across his belly to the other side of his body). Yet, the day we brought him home, he managed to pull himself up to the counter and partake of a small roast. Seems that made him feel better, for he has survived and is once again escaping the house in pursuit of cats and cars....
So, give Inky a nice ribeye and some Beggin' Strips....

Carrie, maybe the Tigers, err Tiggers, are hoping the noise from the football fans will psych out the Yankees. The Tiggers looked good last night, gave the Yanks a run for their money.

Brownies, did someone say Brownies??????? I'll take one, or two. With nuts, thanks!! Yuuuuuuum!
Last night Mr Roz cooked a welcome home pot of Jambalaya for Inky's homecoming. Lots left over, don't leave without getting a bowl for lunch! Watch out, it's spicy, huge shrimp too. The shrimp boat brought in some goodies last night. Call us shrimp snobs. We get our shrimp before it's hardly 24 hours old.
Inky Update: we made pallets on the floor in the reading room last night, and the whole family slept together. She is the smartest dog. I always said my Bordercollie mix Angel was the whiz, but Inky has her beat. She lays just so not to put any weight on her cast, and when she tinkles, she sets her leg way out and only puts a tiny pit on weight on, and by sticking it way out, it stays dry. No bag needed. She feels really weak, but is eating. Spoon fed peanut butter, and cheese, and some of her dog food. Greyhounds, have about a 5 lb weight area that they cannot cross. 5lbs over weight? Bad. 5lbs underweight? Bad...... And they look like a picuture out of the Humane Society. Proper weight is you must see their last 3 ribs. Poor Inky has all of her's showing. :( Sorry, don't mean to take up so much room about Inky, the Nothing Thread is a good outlet for me. :tearsaref
Stimpy--people who don't RSVP, groooooooowl.....what is the deal?? :headbrick I never could understand people. I think the majority of this world is so self absorbed, they believe nothing needs to be done outside of their bubble.
Did someone say Sports?? Me being the Auburn girl, we've had some nail biters for sure. I have access to tickets to the FLA/AUB game, but really feel like I'm a jinx. Last game a drove up for, they lost in the last 10 seconds. My dad wants me to ride up there with him. Another issue all in itself. :Pokepoke:
Hope everyone has a great weekend, work for me. Have a great Birthday Gopher!!!!!!!!!:jumpingbe :birthdayc

Greetings to all from the burrow - TGIF!!!!!
Erin - if you can't find a particular item for that set, let me know. We seem to be blissfully naive here as to what is "hot"; I frequently "come through" for my SIL when her kids need some osrt of toy that can't be found in most cities. An ebayer could kick butt here, LOL.
You know, it irks me to no end when a toy item gets "hot" like that, and the feeding frenzy ensues. I remember getting Tickle Me Elmo for my son for xmas and then all the hoopla ensued. Could have sold that laughing furball for big time bucks - but would NOT do it. Why? (a) My kid wanted it. (b) I'm not going to capitalize on another parent's misfortune and (c) I didn't want some schmo to buy it off me only to scalp someone else! SO on xmas day, my kid opened it up and guess what - he played with it about 30 seconds, then he was done! SO VERY GLAD I hadn't paid mega-bucks for it! Same thing nearly happened to me two yrs ago with Bella Dancerella. It was the one item DD wanted. Next thing I knew, I heard it was on the "hot toys" list. UH OH. In an immediate panic, I race to Wal Mart, Target, you name it - no one has it. On-line, it's backordered through January. On eBay, it was double and triple the price. I was really starting to sweat about it. Fortuantely, I was patient enough to wait a few weeks and managed to get it via a "Buy It Now" on eBay that was priced (even with shipping) only a few bucks (maybe 4?) over what I would have paid at Wal-Mart. I felt that was reasonable, given that it came straight to my door, and the shipper even wrapped it in brown paper to preserve the surprise, lest my DD see it. But you know what, I was in Wal-Mart two days beofer Xmas getting some last minute stuff, and guess waht they had on the shelves, like 30 of 'em - you got it, Bella Dancerella. When I was visiting my ILs once, I watched as people compbed the after-TGiving sales with the full intent of re-sale via internet. Disgusting. I guess that's how they make their xmas moolah. Frankly - it's my wish that they get stuck with a big fat pile of inventory. Our TRUs now has a policy that you have to return items within 30 days with receipt, I think. So if they don't sell those items, they would be stuck with 'em. When it comes to eBay, once you get past mid-October (or probably even by now, sadly) it's a seller's market. The same item they couldn't GIVE away becomes higher-priced this time o' year.
Ok, enough rambling soap-boxing! Gimme a pop-tart! I'm tanked on hi-test coffee and chocolate already!! Goin' out for lunch AND dinner today so any diet is already out da window!! Eh, what's the point in living longer anyway if you can't enjoy it, right? Live for today, tomorrow we die...(t) !

You see, PoohsPal, you have made the mistake of believing football, nay college football :catchingz , is far more important that baseball. Sure, you might get a crisp autumn day... but, you'll be surrounded by 100,000 drunken wolverines or spartans, all screamin' and spilling beer down your back... not to mention trying to get out of the stadium afterwards...
You go to a baseball game, and it's relaxing. Half the crowd, and so many more happy children in that number. You sip your beer, munch casually on your hot dog... sing a song or two... listen to that unmistakable crack of the bat...
Besides, you saw Michigan and Michigan State last year... when was the last time you saw the Tigers in the playoffs?

Unfortunately, I had to pick my fototball game before the Tiger game was scheduled. I practically grew up in the Big House, so that means fall to me. Ummm, that's the football Big House, not that barred big house, reallly!
Believe it or not, I have never had a beer spilled on me there. Oh, and that's why I love football adn hockey. the thrill. Baseball can be a little slow to me. Then again, the games seem to go much faster when we're winning.
So, my options are: Give up some teckets coveted throughout MI or stay home and watch teh Tiggers on TV. Not a big decision. ;) I will have my radio, though.

Them fightn' words in my family. We live and breathe SEC football. Weddings are scheduled around it, we even had a wake once scheduled around a game. Sorry rabble, there ain't nuttin like a autumn SEC day, with our families 15 ft smoker cookin' since dawn. Hi everyone. Just back from the hospital. Dad is there for the duration which means he is there until he gets a new heart or his current one can't sustain him anymore.
The doctors keep saying "we are going to get you a heart this weekend but if we don't....." and listing things they will have to do next week. His spirits seem good and I didn't stay long so he can rest. they are doing all they can to keep him going until a heart comes along (so sad to me - praying for him to get a new heart means someone else has to die....it is so terribly hard to even wrap my mind around it). You would be shocked if you saw him because he looks so good. Hopefully, when I check on Monday (or the next time I check in) he will be safely on the other side of the transplant surgery but this could certainly go on for a long time.
I really would appreciate all your good thoughts and prayers for him. He has at times been a jerko in my life, but he loves my babies and has become so much of a better man in the last 15 years so I really hope and pray we get more time together. 57 is just too young for all this (and he has been going through it for over 5 years now.)

Laura, I'm sending extra thoughts and prayers for your family this weekend. I know exactly what you mean by the 'looking so healthy' comment - my father faces the same challenge. First of all, Laura, major prayers for the health of your dad. I have a college friend waiting for a heart and 2 lungs - I can see how it might seem like you're wishing someone else's life away, but actually, what you're wishing for is that some piece of someone who died might find a way to live inside someone you know - so it's not like you're "hoping" for someone's death, it's more like you're hoping to provide someone who is dead a chance to live -- to live inside someone you love and therefore you are actually praying to save two lives in the process.
That said, I am afraid my tone will be very much a rant tonight, for I have had a stellarly crappy day!! Poor DH has listened to me yell about it all night, God love him. The church situation has completely gotten out of control - my K/1st grade teacher quit today, decided to switch churches, which meant now my 3rd grade teacher says SHE may have a problem, because her son was "only going to come if [1st grade teacher's son] was in the class." I spent another 2 extra hrs at church this morning, taking care of stuff I would do if were the still the director of rel. ed... which I thought I resigned from... but GEE, that's funny, now I'm not only doing my old job, but I'm doing EVEN MORE. So I go home, get kids readdy (who BTWE are now complaining that I am "ruining their day" by making them accompany me to take dd to a birthday party, but they had a choice - play second-fiddle to their sister (and still get some fast-food lunch out of the deal) or go to a funeral for the 30 yr old raft accident victim with their dad. Naturally they came with me, but complained and bickered over to Ohio and back for the party. Then from there had to go to a picnic at our "adopted grandmother's" church (she has taken care of our kids since our eldest was 3 mos old, and is like family - perhaps better han family, LOL - to us!) THe kids had a blast, but I felt like their big "thing holder" as they went from carnival booth to booth, garnering goodies. We left at 5, got them home, grabbed my books and went BACK to our church, where I had agreed to help teach the confirmation class. This class totally torqued me off, namely because a few weeks prior, two of the kids and their parents got upset with me because I didn't think we should even do the class. We didn't have the resources, nor enough kids, nor enough church support. But it somehow all got contrued that I was copping out with all that, and that they were mature and ready and DESERVED to have this, and we adults of our parish OWED them this, and should RESPECT their desires. So I caved and said alrighty, let's do it, and yes, I will help teach the class. THis means basically giving up every one of my SUnday evenings for 3 hrs every week, either to plan a class or run one. It also means many hours of reading for me, because I've never taught this type class, and they need me because, as I noted, we are very short on resources (i.e. trained experienced teachers for this level). SO.... we had 8 kids there tonight, along with their parents, and let me tell you, I expected some frivolity and levity now and then - heck, you need that, to break things up a bit! But by the time I left htat church, I was so torqued off, you could have fried an egg on my forehead. 2 of those kids were absolutely RUDE. They sat snickering, joking, throwing things at each other while instructors spoke, made childish remarks, and whined the ENTIRE 2.5 hrs. Their attitude was like, we OWED them this, and they woyuld pass regardless, it was one big silly formality for them to poke fun at. The parents said nothing to these kids (or at least not in my presence). I did hear one parent telling their kid they should behave and listen / participate more as he went out the door - but that kid didn't do anything wrong, in my book! The two youngest kids in the class (by a good 2 years) that we had feared might not work out due to maturity - NO PROBLEM. No, it was the two OLDEST kids, the very ones who, with their parents, told us we MUST have this class, that were so OBNOXIOUS. We asked them to give feedback, and one them wrote they were ticked off because we were making them miss a particular TV show, and that they wanted a certain pop musician's music next time during prayer service. After I got home, I discreetly called the other instructor (he has a kid in the class and I didn't want to say anything in front of his kid) and asked if tonight was indicative of other classes he has taught - because if so, there was no way in God's greenest earth I could do this. So..... just when I think I'm cooled down a bit, phone rings. By now it is about 10 minutes til 10 pm. It is my ds10's scout leader - says their next mtg (they only have 1 per month IF THAT) is THIS TUES at 7:30. He has "no idea yet what the mtg will be about", and that it will last at least an hour. This is how he plans EVERY MTG. I told DH I have HAD IT - our DS has the potential to take scouting to its highest level and he is getting robbed every step of the way with this guy. The mtgs are always planned at the last possible second (if that) and the merits earned are meaningless. 44 hours notice is actually GOOD for this guy, and the calls always come late at night. I have volunteered countless countless times to run a program for the boys - for example, do their scientist or engineer badge - this guy will NOT let me do it. He wants to run the show his way. This would not bother me... if his way weren't complete slackard CRAP. If you are gonna be a control freak, by golly at LEAST be GOOD at it, for cryin' out loud. So after I got off the phone with this guy, I started my rant again. I am a giving gopher, but by today, I had met one too many people who were on the getting end of life and really not giving anything back in my direction. Now all I feel like giving people is a big fat piece of my mind!
Well, I'm off to burrow under my covers. If Monday starts as bad as Sunday ended, I may dive back in 'em and not come out til Thursday, at the earliest. My friends are taking me out that day to celebrate (belatedly) my 40th with food and alcohol, LOL. I figure that's worth facing the cruel world for! :ale:

Congrats to TW on teh Philly win! Not pretty and I was glad I had no emotional stake in it, except that I awlays want Dallas to lose, as it would have been a tough game to take. But, it wa sa win vs. a team MUCH better than GB none the less! I'm pretty sure I saw you at the game, but it was hard to tell through the blue & green paint! ;)
Thanks TW1! However, if you listen to ESPN, the Tiggers didn't beat teh Yanks, teh Yanks failed. However, after teh Yank's failure, tehy think the Tiggers can win it all. :headscrat
I must take back my rant: Keep teh $ in the vent har, but I must apologize fro Fridays rant about game times. Being where I was (not saying specific name to keep song out of Kristy's head), was awesome. Dbrother adn I had radios, which made us very popular with fans of both teh home and away teams. being 2 MI teams, we had 114,000+ Tigers ffans there. They showed most of the runs scored on teh big screen durign breaks and the crowd went nuts. Giving updates to area fans when we scored was awesome. I never saw so many fans with head sets or watching their cell phones either. Here's the coolest part, though. It was getitng ahrd to hear in the 9th over the roar of COmerica Park. However, I was pretty sure I heard teh last out, althuogh the announcer's voice was lost in the cheers. It was during a break in the action and about 20% of the stadium had their hands up cheering. It caught on pretty quickly and the whole stadium was going nuts a minute before it was announced. Very cool place to be. Accordign to friends, they coudl tell by fan reactions on TV from teh football stadium tha twe had scored before they coudl see it on teh ticker. tehr ewer also random Let's Go Tigers chants. Very, very cool. It didn't hurt that my football team won either. ;)

Yeah, beating Dallas is an obsession in Philly, by far the biggest rivalry for many years compounded with the TO factor this year. But it was a bit harrowing with a 57 yard penalty with about 1 minute to go!
That must have been really great being in the (you know where) and getting all the reactions to the Tigers win.

Welcome BC Mum!!!!!!!! PAsing the chocolate down! It's never too early to open the bar, especially fro a new NOthinger! We've got Yeungling on tap. Nono's the best mixologist, but I'll give it a whirl if you're up for something harder!
Rozzie - I kno what you mean abut not deserving ot win. I route fro MSU whenever they don't play U of M. As I told dh Saturday, I wanted to see U of M beat MSU, but I did not want to see MSU beat themselves. Lack of discipline was obvious.
OK, looking for Laura. SHe's no thiding in the closet already, is she?
Here's some serious Nothing for you. The brownies Friday were made by dh for a pot luck at work. He was telling me about his pot luck and I almost said, "Oh, by the way, teh Nothingers really enjoyed them today." :jawdroppi I may be starting to have some serious reality issues.
Hey, hey, beachclubmum, welcome aboard....sliding one down...the application can wait.

Hope all is well with Laura's Father.
Red snapper,Yum! We had some for dinner Saturday night. Though I know it wasn't straight out of the sea like Erin's. Erin, how you are fixing it? We grilled ours, but I'm always looking for new ways to fix things.
Too much work to do, not enough time to chat.

RAn out of heating oil while I was goine.....hoping they will bring some today, as it gets kinda cold in here. Why is it that BOTH times I've come back from DisneyWorld, the weather turns from nice to SNOW????? Well, no snow this time (yet), just cold and damp.
I'm trying to find my Halloween decorations for a Bunko girls party on Wednesday.
I once had this HUGE box, but I have no idea in hades where it might now be. Did I mention that th ehouse is COLD and that looking for missing spiders/ghosts/pumkins in the basement is not fun?
I have to get my insurance in order....seems that even tho court ordered that X pay for home insurance and my health insurance (since 2003) that he has never paid it, and the judge doesn't seem to care..thinks it is funny. I've been paying my health insurance but I refuse to keep paying for stuff for this house because I have NEVER been reimbursed by this Court. TW, could we ram the judge's house with the Nothing Bus, please? I had a kid who wanted to cut down the beetle kill pine trees (many) for $100 bucks each (a deal) but since i have no insurance I don't think I should let anyone on the property with a chain saw in hand IYKWIM.
Which means I'll lose even more trees next year.
And I have a scummy lawyer that I WOULDNT hire to represent me in 2003 after he screwed up a simple motion he was hired to argue trying to garnish my wages (what wages?) to pay him $$21,000 that he now says he is owed for failure to perform what he was hired to do. Did I mention that I hate divorce lawyers?
So here i sit venting instead of getting to work....seems easier to complain than to try to do something, anything (cuz it ends up feeling a lot like beating my head against a concrete wall.):jawdroppi
Well, the only thing I can say positive is that I bought a pass to our rec center and will be working out EVERY day from now until whenever I lose 30lbs because WHEN I DO, my good friend in Tampa promises to QUIT SMOKING! Yipee!!! So wish me luck.....it usually takes 2 hours a day of fairly intense workout for my body to release fat (and now that I'm older, I fear it will take longer. Maybe that scum lawyer can take a piece outta that!!!!! LOL
on a good note (for the Viking)....I have downloaded my photos and their is definitely some wenches cleavage going on!

I walked in, expecting to be hit with that wonderful warmth of home...... Yeah, tehy turned the heat down to 60 when they left. I was freezing. I can only imagine whow cold you must be with 0 heat in CO!!! :dust that you get oil soon!
Sending some heating oil over to CB's house, anyone wanna go for the ride?

Got my heating oil, thanks TW....and I even got the dangdern heater to fire up!
Now I need the 'commando' Nothing bus to create havoc and destruction of divorce attorney Ass-ets...as in bodily harm. Are we insured for that?
Just talked to my insurance man and evidentally the homeowners insurance WAS paid for and the mistake was his (he is SO cute when he tells me these things). Also, insurance should cover the damage to my carpet (silk, oriental), table and wood floor vis a vis roof leak...never would have thought so! He says that even tho X may have stolen his own jeep (back in 2003 an old jeep was stolen that I used to plow the driveway...always suspected X of the thievery) that he retained salvage. Interesting that the 3 year missing Jeep turns up on a homesite Verrry close to the place where X was living at the time of theft. X got the money from the insurance company and I got zilch. So much for 'equalization'. Now I have to decide what to do with the salvage...actually it belongs to X according to crooked judge.

Hoping for a better day in the burrow. Leaving at 3 to fix toilet and kitchen sink (ALSO leaking like a sieve... when it rains, it pours... right into my basement!) Ran into a mom of a schoolmate of my 4th grade son last night while I was getting my fix-it stuff at Lowe's last night. SHe says, "Hey - so glad I ran into you! Can you get me two bottles of ethanol... Oh, and also, some... what's the name... ummm, EMTA? No, that's not it - Um, ETDA?"
(Picture me - with blank stare) "You mean EDTA?"
"YEAH, that's it! So you can get that for me, right?"
What do I look like, a black market chemical sales person? I can see me now, sneaking out of our company incognito toting two 4 liter jugs of ethanol. :grouchodi (A company, I should note, with a big gate around it that requires passes to get in and out, and has cameras at every exit, and has been known to do gate checks. I have to have a property pass signed by management just to bring out empty cardboard boxes!) I asked her WHY she needed these things and she said her daughter "is doing her science project on the 'extrapolation' of DNA out of vegetables and seeing if they can live on their own!" Uh, sure - let me talk to your kid to see what SHE thinks her science project is on. Way too often people choose projects for their kid that (a) the kid has no interest in (b) is a topic of complexity beyond their current level (c) sounds "cool" but means nothing if the kid has no clue what they are doing. Some people should have their internet access taken away, LOL. I told her to go back to the 'net, gave her specific sites, and said find a kit for that, if she still plans to do that project. I suspect these people are going to need step-by-step instructions all the way....
Beautiful day here... but a cold snap is coming. So DS11 will need to bring his potted plants in or his science project will be toast! I sure hope he remembers to tend those babies every day - I have a feeling I am wearing my new Beaker watch today...every time I look down, I have to chuckle, seeing that face looking back at me! I told DH, "See how LUCKY you are? Some women want diamonds and perfume, you lucked out and got a girl who's thrilled with a 40-dollar Muppet watch." ;)

Hi everyone - just checking in.....
To borrow an update from an email I sent earlier to Kathleena....
I am not online much right now myself as my father is in the hospital waiting for a heart transplant. He is doing “ok” but they are starting to mention artificial heart to us as an alternative if a donor heart doesn’t appear soon (maybe as soon as this weekend). Send us a little pixie dust and I will be sure to send you some back for your neck. I hope it is something that will soon be ok for you.
As for the party, I have asked my sister to take my place during that weekend. (she is my ˝ sister…so this isn’t her father in the hospital). We were taking her daughter with us originally and now my sister and her baby will also be joining Chuck, the boys and little PJ. I would love to have been there to meet you and if something happens in the next day or two with my father (where he can be stable and somewhat recovered by the 20th) I might still go, but for now it looks like I will be hanging around the hospital. Such a helpless feeling!
So, I will tell them to look out for an especially nice fairy godmother and you be on the look out for a baby panda (my baby niece Maggie who is 9 months), a baby Piglet (my daughter Paula Jean), a 4 year old brave Zorro (son Richard), a nice looking 6 year old Harry Potter complete with a scarf I am currently crocheting (son Charlie), and a pretty 5 year old blonde Lilo in her hula outfit (my niece Elise). They will be with two very ragged looking adults, my hubby Chuck and my sister Suzanne
I hope you have a wonderful time and that I get to meet you in December during Mousefest and perhaps even with a bit of faith, hope and pixie dust, I will be with the motley crew on the 20th at MNSSHP!
Laura
So, recap....dad is "stable" but they can't keep him in this condition because it will soon begin to damage things. We are looking at possibly two major major surgeries now. One for an artificial heart, which, if he survives it, will have a 3 week period afterwards where he is off the list for a donor heart while he recovers. Then, we have the wait again for a donor heart and that major surgery, possible rejection, etc. I had an honest to goodness panic attack for the first time in my life on Sunday. Even when mom died, this didn't happen. I just couldn't breath. No fun and I can do without that. I suspect that when they all go to Orlando for the halloween party, I am not going to pump anymore (I am still nursing PJ at night and in the morning) so I will probably call the doctor after that for something to help me not feel so ummmm well - freaked out would probably be a good way to describe it.
Thank you so much everyone for your thoughts and prayers. Nono and Ginger - - - I am hoping for a miracle that will put me at WDW while you all are there, but for now, I suspect that isn't going to happen. I hope everyone that is going down soon has a magical time :)
You all mean so much to me. Whowouldathunkit? :beatinghe :grouphug:

Hugs to you lovell and good thoughts for your father.
Sorry I missed breakfast with everyone, I was up early this morning pissing off the neighbors. There is an excavator in my backyard gobbling up the natural area (natural meaning volunteer oak trees and poison ivy and some ugly holly bushes and a few million weeds). However we live in a planned community so the neighbors are a little anal. Did I mention I didn't get permission? Bwa-ha-ha. We also ripped down three trees.....we (me and my landscaper and his crew) are trying to hide that fact and act surprised. Pass the Yuengling!

Welcome beachclubmum! sliding a nice cold one your way! :ale:
Just got back from Target and they had the new Jimmy Buffet CD so I'm more in a :margarita state of mind.
Finally got the final RSVP for DS's party this morning! Mom apologized, felt bad and asked if it was too late to add her DS. Of course not! (Although you are 4DAYS LATE!!! And we already called with the final number yesterday!:burningma ) So I have to go back to Target to get one more ding dang dern Hot Wheel car for part of the favor bags, call the place to add him (which at $17.00 per child, I'm sure they'll be more than happy to squeeze him in LOL) Told DH about it when he got home from work, he told me he would have told her it was too late! And considering he just walked in the door after working 17 hours straight, it was a good thing I talked to her and not him :innocent: He tends to be a little cranky after about 12 hours at work
Speaking of DH, I'm still waiting for him to notice my hair! I only dye my hair once a year in the fall since I get very dark brown roots coming in and I look like a backwards skunk by November if I don't. I went from light brown
