Teens and college students are the worst - - - heck young people in general!!!
I see "kids" (meaning anyone younger than myself) spending money of crazy lavish things and I want to scream - DONT DO THAT!!! If you saved 1/2 of that money, you would be so far ahead of your peers in 5-10 years. I think the whole entertainment technology market (tvs, stereos, gadgets, computers, etc) would collapse if youth were told they can't buy these things until they are older. I myself spent STUPID amounts of money socalizing and doing other things and now that I have children and dont have extra time to work OT or pick up a few bucks extra here and there, I wish I had kept some of that $$$ lol
Think of the points we could have bought!!!

Ginger and others who have nosy friends and relatives....he's a sure fire way to kill the "Trying" comments and questions. Worked 100% of the time for me.
When someone would ask me, "Are you trying?" I would look them dead in the eye and say (quietly), "Are you asking me if I have sex with my husband?" And then give them the one eyebrow-raised look. Even the densest person got it that they had just asked an impolite question and backed off.
As for infertility, I personally have no idea. I have geographic infertility for sure -- my husband travels just enough that he's NEVER around at the appropriate time. But the whole concept of birth is something that I know most folks consider a miracle, but I consider, well, mostly...hmmm...well "blech" would basically cover it. After Sex Ed. covered birth in grade school, I looked like this ----->:bugeyed: and I haven't fully recovered yet. Luckily, both H & I have clean records, so adopting has worked out well for us.
Rozzie, I don't read much, or see regular TV either, but cripes, I know WTF global warming is. And, what the heck are gummy worms?
That is awesome Nono!! I'm going to use that next time. It IS amazing what people will ask me....they just assume that I'm selfish....how about if we just CAN'T have kids...no one ever considers that.
Wow....I didn't mean to open such a deep conversation in the closet! Sorry! :innocent:
Now onto a funner topic! I'm going to Colorado in the morning (to go see my sister and meet my new nephew! - my first REAL nephew -- all other nieces/nephews are from my DH's side of the family). I can't wait! But I will miss not being able to talk with my MO friends until Sunday! I'll have withdrawals!! I'll do my best to catch-up!!
Thank you again everyone for being so supportive....life would be so much better if we all lived closer to each other so we could just hang-out...but until that day comes, at least we have MO!!!

"Are you asking if I have sex with my husband?"
I love it!!!!!!:ROTFL:
I had a friend who had an early teen pregnancy and gave the baby up for adoption. After she got married, she could NOT conceive,a nd it was killing her.
When I got pregnant (the first night we tried), i know that it was hard on her.
She held my baby at 3 weeks old (she lived in SC while I was in Co) and i could see the hurt in her eyes. The good news is that she finally got pregnant and ended up with 3 kids, so a good ending. But I cn't imagine what she went through.
It seems that for the most part, DINKS need to gravitate to other DINKS re social life. And PWK (parents with kids) need to do the same. Just easier insofar as get togethers, travel, car pooling etc. But the need to criticize those who made different choices than we did...well, that comes from being confused or unhappy about the choice we ourselves made. And of course, I doubt there is anyone who is ALWAYS happy with the choice made (well, I was always happy until my DD became a teenager, and then, even I had my moments of doubt!)
Some people mean well, and they say dumb things. Others might not mean so well...and they need to be taught a lesson. Deciding not to have kids may indeed be 'selfish' according to some people....but isn't it better to decide not to have a kid BEFORE you have one? ANd think of all the money you save...each kid costs around 1 million bucks...that is a LOT of moolah! Think of how many DVC points......whoa!
I didn't get any response to a separate post re the premiere of POC II in DisneyLand. I'd love to go to this for my birthday present to me, but it looks like it ain't happening. Well, it was a fun idea while it lasted. Guess I'll jsut have to find someone to go to the movie with me on opening day!

Lisa, when we went for our mortgage on the house we are in now the loan officer ran my credit 3 times b/c she couldn't believe it :ROTFL: My credit score was about 20 points(?) below the highest possible number and I have no debt. (I have few credit cards that I never carry a balance on, car was paid off, and my name wasn't on our first house and/or mortgage) She kept telling everyone how she had never actually seen a report like mine!
Nono, love your response! That's exactly what I felt like saying but never had the guts LOL I think I did tell someone, after a few drinks :innocent: , that my sex life was none of their business...and maybe they should speak to DH about it instead.
Erin, we "lucked" out of the big male/name thing. But I remember the pressure from that too. Both DH's brothers and sister-in-laws had to go through that and all through my pregnancy we heard it too. Our DS is the ONLY boy in DH's family to carry on the family name! We kiddingly call him the Prince, but the Irish-born in-laws are much more serious about it. There has been mention of inheritences, land, valuables all going to him to "keep in the family". It's a little scary and I get so mad at them for my nieces sake! MIL especially treats them much differently...which is weird since she's a woman herself!
BTW, I know about Global warming too! :birhdaypa I have my BA in communications/journalism so I am still a bit of a news person. The whole gummy worms type conversations are probably why I couldn't socialize too often with neighborhood moms....talking about the kids all the time gets a wee bit dull after awhile!
Rozzie, hope everything goes smoothly tomorrow!

Lisa! That teaching teens is a great idea!! We had to takes COnsumers Econ in HS. I'm sure the teacher would have loved you as a guest speaker! SOmething to think about in all your spare time! ;) RIght? You've got older kids, so you must have the louycky combo that gives you lots of free time. ;) ;)
I only hope that one day that will be true - can you promise me??!! :ROTFL:  I have taken to bribing my older son at times to ferry around the younger one so I can stay at work:help: He just wants money, of course!!
Stimpy, you are every loan officers dream!:cheerlead I only pull your credit once though. Did she give you a copy to frame?
You are so right, Laura! I really work at teaching my own! You can never start too young, in my opinion. I've been doing some heavy talking at mine about the proper use of credit cards and what your credit score is actually worth :D I made my share of mistakes and I want my kiddos to benefit from them:crazy:

Yes - there are the SAHMs that basically don't want to talk about anything but the kids and shopping - but keep in mind - they drive SAHMs like me CRAZY!!!! In fact - I have a hard time finding women in "real life' to hang out with. But anyway - even worse are the military SAHMs - they have no outside social life from their DH's squarons and that's ALL they want to talk about:crazy: - so - kids, the squadron gossip, and shopping. Woo Hoo. Needless to say - I don't hang out with them much either.
Some of the homeschooling mom's are better in that they are usually staying current on news, science, etc to teach their kids (but sometimes the view there is very contrary to mine!):help:

Oh you and me both. It took about 5 years for mine to get my score back up to where it should be. When my mom cut me off I was still in college, and lived off credit for a couple of months. Then you know the story, got behind. That was over 12 years ago, and I am always preaching to the younguns what a horrilbe mess I made, and how long it took to fix it. I paid back every dime. :sunny: It taught me the very HARD way how to be responsible----I think some kids will never get it. This generation just baffles me, they all expect new cars, and when they get deep in debt, most of their parents bail them out. No lesson learned sadly. Yeah, I might carry some debt here and there, but I know the limits. Especially with house hunting. I knew we could afford more, but we didn't want to be house poor. Some of my friends (when I had em', LOL) were just buying these insane cost houses. :bugeyed: okay, I'll stop! Sorry, just one of those subjects I could go on and on forever.....
besides, DVC is a investment in happiness, right?! ;)

Oh Susie, I'm disappointed! If Bavaria can stop in the Nothing thread from a rest stop in Germany, I think you can find a way in Colorado! :fresh: Just kidding! I hope you have a safe and wonderful trip! :sunny:
Well, nono, I don't even drink coffee but I could probably use one this morning too! Dh came home from work about 4 AM (usually doesn't get home until about 8 AM) so I knew something happened. :( He got into a fight with an 18 year old drunk kid. While he was trying to arrest him for a minor thing, the kid decided to start punching him in the head. So he had to try to get control but the kid got away. DH was sent to the hospital b/c he had a really bad headache. Another cop was able to catch him but I'm pretty sure the kid doesn't look too good this morning :( He didn't give me too much details yet.
DH is ok now, he's taking a nap but head injuries/trauma things seem to worry me just a tad. LOL Although I'm surprised with DH's thick head the kid didn't break his hand
The bad part is the after effects. DH works in a small, very affluent town where the kids can do no wrong. (It's always the "other" kids from neighboring towns causing all the trouble  ) Mommy & Daddy always take care of their kids and their problems for them. So I'm already dreading how they will make this all about their poor baby...the one that started beating up a cop. :burningma They'll put pressure on the Big Bosses, who will in turn go after DH and his partners.
Heck, forget the coffee...send a Yuengling!!!

Stimpy- I hope your DH is okay. Too sad about the "poor" rich kids. I can kinda relate. When I taught school before Briley was born, there were a lot of affluent families in our school. I got stung a couple of times by disciplining children from these families. I don't understand why these parents think they are doing these kids any favors. They are just doing them such a disservice by allowing them to think they are above the rules.:( Hope that the whole thing doesn't turn into a nightmare for you.
Soozay-hope you have a great trip to see your nephew.
Kristy- so glad that you are back with us until your next venture to CA.
Laura- glad you made it through your tough weekend. I hope you are finally getting over that virus.
Well, I'm taking the girls to the bay to take some photos of them today. My Mom is at work, so they are all mine today. We'll probably meet my Mom for lunch.
Stimpy,
You are right, Yuengling is a much better idea. <<pulling up a chair>> I'll join ya! I hear ya about the "privileged kids." Parents are already lawyered-up I'm sure.
One of my better friends is a police officer in the most affluent beach town around here. The stories he tells....it's more of a political office than a law enforcement job. :thumbsway

Well, Colorado weather is beautiful, but also HOTHOTHOT. Maybe Soozay will need to get out of that 100 degree weather and come up to high country to visit me! She can always 'drop by the wayside' here and check in with everyone!
Hmmmmm. Yesterday. Some men were working on my stream (irrigation ditch) yesterday. I went out to try, one more time, to let them know that since flood irrigation has worked on grass meadows for 100's of years, that 'if only' they would follow the long working concept, that the swamp grass now growing in my meadow would be gone. So I tried to find the places where the rivulets had been left open for eight years so that they could plug them. Not sure why or when or how it was left there, but my foot managed to find a 6inch square piece of plywood that had 3" nails (about 7 of them) sticking out, facing UP. Luckily, only one nail went through my shoe and into my foot. When I tried to take the next step, it was kinda surreal that my foot was stuck to the ground (well actually to the nail.). So EEEEWWWWWW, I had to reach down and pull the plywood UP out of the ground and THEN had to pull it off my foot. It was spouting blood like a geyser, so I stuck it in the irrigation ditch...cold mountain water to try to stop it.
Boy, the swear words that came out of my mouth brought those two guys running! THey helped me back to the house and I was surprised that the bleeding stopped in only 10 minutes...didn't even get any on my rug! I figured I had to get a tentanus shot, so I drove to the clinic, all the while hating my clutch (left foot injury). It was BUnko night, and I figured I needed to drink a little!!!!,
so I went. There was only sweet wine (yuck) no beer and sprite. Bummer!!!!
When I got home I took a long bath and a vicodin:yes: slept like a baby. This morning, the foot is only sore, but the arm is REALLY sore from the shot. Jeez!
I believe things come in threes.....so can I count the shot as the third thing, pretty please?

Soozaay - have fun! We will certainly be wanting pictures.
Stimpy - I hope hubby is still doing better and that there is no fallout (wrongful fallout especially). I used to rum a grocery store front end (cashiers, bagboys, etc) when I was in college and I worked in an affluent area. One of my bag boys drove a Porsche. No joke. At least he was working, but you can imagine the attitude at times. WEEEEEEEE
Nothing much going on here. Getting caught up on office clean up so doing LOTS of shredding! I actually love getting things cleaned out. Home is getting the same sort of cleaning right now, but on a smaller scale as I have more free time here lol
Have a great Wednesday! It is "dinner at Grandpa's night" so I will be leaving soon to head down there. He picks up all 3 of my youngsters and makes all of us dinner :) Very nice to get together each week but I don't always go as it makes for a really short day at work. Today, I am fortunate enough to not have a huge pile - so I am going to meet them at Grandpa's. :)

It's futile to resist....
Mr. Rozzie has his big yearly meeting this year at the Hilton at DTD in August. NO families/friends are allowed to stay with him during conferences, and they are way serious about it. You actually get into doodoo if you are caught, guess they are serious about needing his undivided attention. Anyhoo, since WDW is a super big family affair, they are offering for 3 days after (or before the conference) a rate of 139.00 at the Hilton. I almost jumped on it, big time. I got these whole sceme of me staying at OKW studio during the conference then jumping over to the Hilton for the weekend. (sounded like a purty good rate, maybe? :idontgeti )
I can't decide. It's during hurricane season, and I promised my boss I would never ever take time off again during storm season, (plus it would get cancelled anyway if a storm was in the Gulf)----you see I have had 2 vacations cancelled b/c of hurricanes.
I would have to borrow the points
it would cost at least $700, maybe $1000? (plane ticket plus $450 room at Hilton)
and I am TRYING to save money. :crymeariv
So I decided to skip this one out, and wish Mr. Rozzie a fun time at WDW away from me. He already can't wait to take "the boys" to RR, and see POTC.
So I saved $1000 dollars tonight. Sorry just had to share. I still am bummed major!!!! But I'll survive...

DH is giving ME a headache now! :headache: His headache is gone but now he's been complaining all morning about his back and neck hurting. The PA he dealt with in the ER just gave him tylenol for the headache and didn't run any type of tests at all. (Which probably wasn't totally her fault, I know how much DH can downplay his injuries/sickness to others to make it seem like no big deal)
I told him he should go to a doctor to get his back and neck checked if for no other reason than to have some documentation that it was a result of the assault. DH can be a BIG baby when it comes to going to doctors. :whatababy (Ok, I am too LOL) But he keeps telling me he's fine and is just a little sore. Really?? Then how come you can't move off the couch without being in pain?? :headbange
I may have to resort to dirty tactics and start IM-ing his work buddies and ask them to force him to DR. :innocent: He tends to listen to them much more than me anyway.

LOL Erin! I did do the right thing NOT going on this trip in July and I had a long talk last night about the trip we are all taking in December because we are staying at SSR and my sister wants her family and our dad to stay at a monorail resort. So, last night - I told him my concerns that I can't seem to get my sister to hear.
1. HOLY COW are monorail hotels expensive and they are JUST regular hotel rooms and 3 adults, 1 five year old and one almost one year old in a regular hotel room - YIKES! It is tough on us when it is just the lllovells, but I think my dad would go bonkers.
2. If we are in seperate hotels, it will be difficult to meet up. Last time we were there and they stayed at OKW, it wasn't QUITE as bad because I drove the kids and I over to OKW to meet up with them in the mornings, but if they stay at a MR resort, we can't drive over every day. (and even then - when we would get back to the hotel at night, the boys and I had to schlep to the car, drive back to our hotel and then unload - so we lost 20 minutes each way that they didnt have to deal with - doesn't quite seem fair.)
3. My dad wants to be around my children a lots (especially my oldest who he is bonded deeply with due to Charlie and Mom being so close). My sister gets upset when dad doesn't split his time well between the grandkids, so what would happen is dad would end up schlepping between hotel rooms at night (living out of a suitcase) or he could stay with us (thus possibly hurting my sisters feelings) or my kids would end up in that already too crowded hotel room so he could be with them all.
4. My sister's family eat out almost all of their meals at WDW and we don't. We actually use that lovely little area on your DVC room sketch that is called the "kitchen" :fresh: for two reasons - one being cost of meals and the second being the wait time when you have small children. If they are staying in a traditional hotel room, they will be eating out except for a muffin for breakfast probably...so we will end up splitting up for meals too - again leaving Dad in a bad position.
So this is what I did. I waitlisted a 2 bedroom at SSR for that same week (going to cancel our 1 bedroom if it came through), but last night dad said he would prefer to have his own space to crash in and take one grandchild at a time (smart man). He also flipped out at the price of the hotel room my sister wanted. So...I said my piece, which is that I thought the 2 bedroom would be best. He doesn't think we should all be so close for a week (which I finally broke it to him that it was Sun - Thrus night - not even a full week for $1400 which is the CHEAPEST the monorail resorts are listed for - he doubly flipped out). So now I feel like this is going to be too complicated. I also suggested that maybe he just come to WDW some other week with my boys and spend a lot of this week with my niece and we would just meet with them here and there. (he doesn't want to do disney at all - but this might ultimately be the best route). I suspect he thinks he can get a couple of "studio" rooms at SSR and this will solve the problem and I did tell him that the resort is booked and that it cost as much if not more than the monorail rooms. I pretty much said we are locked in (I didnt bother with the "we can cancel" routine becaues honestly, my family needs the kitchen, so changing to a regular hotel room wont go for us). So, we will see what happens. I have given him lots of notice here and he realizes that they have to get it worked out soon. I hope family feelings dont get stressed here, but I really think my sister was expecting my dad to pay for their hotel room (for them all to stay together) or to split it and even $700 for 5 nights DOES seem pricy to me - - - especially for a standard hotel room...monorail or no.
*sigh* I love Disney and DVC but I will certainly be glad when we get these first few trips out of the way. I suspect Dad wont go again (he just isn't a crowd or theme park person) and I just have to let my sister know that a one bedroom isn't big enough for all of us comfortably so they can come along on their own if they would like or I will help them rent points, but every time we go to WDW isn't an open invitation for them to crash on our sofabed. Her sister-in-law also has DVC points, so every time I try to tell my sister to buy their own (resale), I get some "joke" comments about why should they when they don't have to pay now. It kinda stresses me out.
Love my sister....vacationing with them is getting to be too tough.
Argh!!!

I'm back! Dam arm still hurts...what is it about tetanus shots????Feels like this huge lump of dead weight on my upper arm. NOT conducive to playing tennis. Foot is healing, but yesterday, I didn't leave the house. I liked being lazy. Dog and cat are worried though....keep looking at me funny.:fresh: as in: why is mom lying in bed all day????
Rozzie...what kind of company FORBIDS spouses to come along to Disney World????? Do they have dinners with dancing girls jumping out of cakes or something??? Not sure when in August DH's meeting is, but you do know that half of August and Sept are FREE DINING , dontcha???? Which means that for less than $100 a night room and board, you AND hubby can stay at the POP and eat FREEFREEFREE!
(That really does feel a lot like paying you to stay there!) Including tax!
Of course, if that doesn't work, you can always yell :D GIRL TRIP :D and join Matysgranma and I in September (we couldn't pass up free dining!)
The h*ll with the vent bucket....I'm just opening the bar. Tropical Rum Martinis all around.
Let's just say after two hours of my daughter screaming at me to leave her alone/come here Mommy Mommy Mommy/then screaming in my ear when I picked her up....
MOMMY LOST HER COOL! :burningma

Ginger - sendging prayers to your MIL and your family... I sure hope those tests come back ok...
CB - my arm hurt for a week after the last tetnus shot I got! Those suckers are nasty!
Rozzie - you're a stronger woman than me! I like the POP and free dining idea! You'd still be saving $$$$, but you'd get to go! We're horrible influences, aren't we????
I'm all packed for the plane, leave for the airport tomorrow at 2pm.... I'm so nervous though. I've only been a bridesmaid once and that was for my sister 16 years ago. Now I'm the Matron of Honor - and the ONLY attendant. I've also been eating like a pig this week (I've been so darn hungry - PMS......) and I'm praying the dress will still fit! Shower is on Sunday - so we'll only have Sat to prepare. I bought almost everything and shipped it to her (the rest in is my suitcase) - all I'll have to shop for is food. but I'll have to cook it all and decorate..... ug. I'm excited - but it sure won't be a relaxing trip! We do get to go for a night to Napa and do wine tasting with her 2 aunts (her mother died when we were 23 - they've taken over the role for her) - that will be wonderful!
Doubt I'll be back.
I hope everyone is ok while I'm gone (I'll try to sneak on her computer - but she only has dial up..... I have no patience for that.....) I'll have so much catching up to do!

Oh Ginger, I am so sorry that I missed the post about your mom. I'm hoping that the tests come back negative, that her syptoms are just those caused by needing another trip to DisneyWorld....free dining included!!!
AFMOM, I agree with lllovell that even tho you will be busy and working hard...without the kids it will be a different kind of busy, and that you will have a ball! I love weddings and I'm planning on going to one in early August at Notre Dame. Have a wonderful trip!
Rozzie: Ok, here's the deal. You DO have to add a ticket for each person in the party. BUT the tickets can be used for a 'credit' on an annual pass/ renewal!
Soooooo: our 5nights for 2 cost $572.80 less $67x2 for the tickets = $440 for 5 days including the DDP (and a little bonus dinner at Planet Hollywood) So I'm actually paying $45 a night to both stay at Pop and have the $38 DDP...and you know me, can't pass up a freebie!
Sorry for going dark, folks, but my DVC friend who's divorcing came over to visit and to buy H & me lunch. Then D woke up in a better frame of mind and was super-nice and we decided to go to the beach. H was able to take about 3 hrs off this afternoon so he came along. And, two of our neighbors did as well. So, we all had a great time hanging out, reading, swimming a bit, and just well, getting back to normal.
All this beach time was a big big bonus as thunderstorms were predicted today, and at Noon it sure looked like they were coming. Then -- poof -- sky is clear! :sunny: Since we're a little peninsula hanging out in the Atlantic, we never know what's really coming.

Okay, now you are talking more sensibly. You must have had a fever or something last night! (I hope you are not taking offense to my comments today!) Forget Disney's insurance. Go to www.insuremytrip.com and get a quote. We got insurance for our cruise last Sept. through travelguard. It was like $80 for the whole family for the cruise. You should be able to get travel insurance much cheaper than Disney's.
Ginger- hope things turn out okay. We'll be thinking about you.

Thanks Rozzie! It was at the park, next to the pier. Down by the duck pond. I printed the one of them with their feet in the water in B&W and framed it by my dining room table. I was really impressed with the photo quality. I took them with my new digital cam that I got for Mother's day. I took about 25 pictures, and about 4 of them turned out really well! But trying to get 6 girls to cooperate at the same time is fun! I wanted them to sit by the duck pond and pose for a couple of pics, but they were all whining about duck poop!:whatababy We had fun, especially considering it was 95 degrees yesterday. The pier won't be open for awhile. They just started fixing it a couple of months ago with some fed. money.

WOo hoo ROzzie! Great to have at least one nice doc for you!
OK for got to tell you yesterda's vent. Here's $20 for the jar. We should be able to afford imported coffee soon!
Where to start?
Last year I finally found a girl I love for my hair. WOnderful adn failry normal. A little TMI soemtimes, but I liked her. At some pt, she started dating teh bldg owner's son. In Dec, they broke up. Guess who was gettign evicted. SO, I'm all worried, because I had my hair cuts all lined up to get cut right befor emarthon. She says nto to worry she will get me in in Jan.
Well she moved to a place that just got a new bulding and was fairly ritzy. OK, I can get peds and stuff here. This might be nice. She did nto seem happy, though.
Well, about 3 hair cuts ago, she quit. Got sick of dealing with poeple and got out of the biz altogether. :(
So, I show up for my appt and they tell me she quit. Can't get me in.... I was ticked. She quit Saturday adn they di dnot clal me or try to get someone in to cover my appt. Gave me the run around. Well, my co-worker started going there a little after me. After I calmed down (when I'm ready foe a cut, I'm ready fo ra cut), they looked up my co-worker and found out who did her hair. Started going to her a few days later. She was ok, but my hair didn't seem right. Not bad enough to go through the hassle to find someone else, though.
Yesterday, I go for my appt. It's been so humid that I've felt like a mop and pulled my hair back fo rthe last few days. Couldn't wait for a cut.
So I say I've got a 5:30 with Kory. Ok, Sue.
No, it's Carrie. I've ghot a 5:30 with Kory.
Oh, no, you're with Kristen.
(Now, when I leave my appts, Kory walks me up and gives them the record of what she does. Then I make another appt. No chance I could have asked for the worng person.)
No, I'm with Kory.
No, Kristen.
No, someone screwed up. Kory does my hair. I've never met a Kristen.
Well...(she starts flipping pages) Kory can get you in at 4:15 tomorrow.
(OK, where's my apology. Where's my we made a mistake and let's see what we can do to help? Why do these poeple act like I screwed up and I'm a low life anyway. I pay good $ fo rmy appts there.)
I work 'til 5!
Oh, well, we'll have to go to next week then.
(OK, I'm about to blow. My hair's driving me nuts. Someone screwed up. And they're treeating me like dirt. jnrrt, I'm losing my halo again, you may not want to read on)
So, I reply with, "This is the second time you've screwed me over. I'm out of here." as I walk through the door.
Why do people in nice salons think they rule the world. WIll somebody let the witches that work there know that they are not any better than me????
I would have been fine if ANY sort of apology was made, but they just treated me like dirt!
So, I drive off in a huff and hope that the place half a block away has an opening. I juststorm right in and remeber that I did not even look to see if they take walk ins. SO, rather flustered, I humbly ask,"do you take wlk ins?'
"Yes."
"Do you happen to have an opening now?"
"Of course." in a very nice tone. :worship:
I must say that my new person is MUCH better!!!! Now, her slaon is not half as ritzy, though, but she costs more. Oh well, I think she has a lot more experience than my last person.
Thansk for understanding. No females in the office today and, although, my dh said all the right things, I know he doesn't understand. ;)

Oh Carrie. I so know what you mean. I divorced my old hair guy for his attitude. You had to book 6 months in advance to get a cut with him. I was planning my entire life to get a cut with this god to scissors freak. (and isn't life supposed to be planned around Disney trips anyway? ;) )
The salon was rude to me, and I am like, I AM PAYING YOU for a service. I found a girl just like you did, by just walking in as a walk in at another salon. Not as fancy, no mocha's while I wait, but she gets my hair cut.
I would write a letter/or call to the salon's owner. I hate people feel that they can treat customers that way, it's called customer service for a reason!!!!!!!!! :headache:

Well, the delivery truck with chocolate should be pulling up shortly to restock the closet! And the good news is, I saw a report on the German news last week that one needs to eat over 300 liqueur filled chocolates at one sitting to cross the legal driving limit.... :ROTFL:
OK, I'll admit that I need several hours to try and catch up again! Great to see lots of new faces on the forums - amazing how many new members join us each week!!
Carrie, I hear you on the hair - I am struggling right now as I don't have a WDW trip planned and need a haircut - I use Evangeline at the BC/YC salon and otherwise a haircut is like going to the dentist for me...
Rozzie! Does that mean that I will need to consider your great deal as I will most likely be in so AL in August???? I think that you should definitely go for it! (OK, I'll admit that I am not a reasonable person to ask about taking a trip to WDW....)
Erin, I love the photos - it almost looks like the girls were dressed for a professional session in those great bright colours and the white!
Ginger, I hope that everything goes well and best thoughts....

Thanks for the kind thoughts. Just to clarify, it's my husband's Mother, not mine. She had the test yesterday, Monday she should hear the results. I felt bad for her last night. She looks very sleep deprived and you can tell she's had a good cry or 2. And to make it worse on MIL, DH's sister (the one that just got married) is moving 8 hours away Sunday. So I'm sure she's going to have a tough time with that. I'll keep you all posted.
Carrie, why is finding someone to cut your hair so hard? I HATE trying to find a good stylist. I went through this several years ago and finally found a great stylist. I would have left that rude salon too. There was no cause for not even saying "sorry".
Erin, those are great pictures. I love how the girls are all wearing bright colors. Really makes for a fun summer picture.

Like you, I'm a bit leary of the Pop; we requested a water view top floor for the quiet. I think my only real concern is the small window....I need light, and I don't think Pam is gonna let me leave the door open all night!:bugeyed:
Sounds like you could fairly easily talk Stimpy and Nono into joining you...Lets put the pressure on!
Both my arm and foot feel better today. Decided against putting a tennis shoe on, tho I miss tennis!!!! I am going out today to try and get the irrigation system running. I promise that I won't step on any more nails!!!!

Have to chime in on the hair rant. Y'all haven't seen me yet (I know, I'll come up with one soon), but I have very easy to butcher hair. Believe it or not, I have a friend who is a full-time attorney and he cuts my hair.:bugeyed: I go to his house and he has a chair set up for haircuts. No extras or mochas and what I pay him, he gives to select charities that he wants to support. I just write the check out to the charity of his choice and he gets it to them. Except for a five year break (I cut it myself for most of that), when he married and moved off to Montgomery, he has cut my hair since 1988!! He probably gets with 25-30 clients regularly. Weird, huh?
I hope she gets good news, Ginger!
Welcome back, Bavaria and bless you for all the yummy chocolate:worship: :D

ahhh. Guilt is a pretty powerful thing I tell you. Yes, it 0330 my time. I have had the worst case of insomnia I have ever had. I get it about once about 4-5 months, but I usually can drift off by 330. I just called in to work. Told them I have been up all night sick. There is just no way I can go in with no sleep. My alarm is going to go off in about 30 minutes. I just feel it is too dangerous, for myself with the drive, and for the patients. I just can't risk harming somebody and myself. They were peed off too. I never call out. (twice in 2 years, one for being sick, and the other the night my cousin was found dead. Just had my review, and got the highest score for no call outs. My supervisor even told me if I ever called out, she would totally believe me. Why is the guilt killing me??? :( All I can think about is them running short tomorrow. What's done is done. I am still wide awake. Think I'll go read...
i'm calling my doc on monday for some ambien. BTW, has anyone every noticed the tons of commercials for RX sleep medication on tv between midnight and dawn??? :crackedup

Rozzie, hope you finally drifted off into sleepyland!!! That must have been some chat here last night ;) Having sleep problems myself, I know you did the right thing by calling in. There is just too much risk, especially driving and with your patients.
It is pouring rain here today. Thunderstorms all night that shook the whole house! Today is supposed to be DS & DH's first father/son fishing trip with the cub scouts. They said rain or shine but I doubt they'll go in this weather! Which is probably a good thing since he's an animal lover like me. I don't think he really understands that people catch fish and then eat them! LOL He says he will catch some, look at them up close and then release them. That's great (especially since we don't eat fish here! ) but the other people going are going to want to KEEP what they catch. That might upset him. So this weather is probably a good thing. ;)

The ambien should help in cases like this. I have it and it works for me even when it is pain that is keeping me awake, Rozzie. I usually take an alleve with it :crackedup Just be sure to take it early enough or break one in half if it is already late. Hope you feel better today!:sunny:

Were you just too excited/guilted/anxious about the trip that you couldn't sleep????
That's about the only time I have trouble sleeping: when I have to get up early the next day to catch a plane or go to court or something equally monstrous.
I'm sure the new sleep drugs work fine, but since I am so anti-pill, I find a cup of hot milk (no chocolate, sorry!) works wonders.
Quit feeling guilty and enjoy your day off! We all deserve a mental health day off from time to time anyway!!!

Rozzie, hope you got some rest today. I hate when I can't sleep. For me it usually happens on Sunday night and then I have to go to work the next day. Have you thought about herbal sleep aids such as melatona (or however you spell it)? But if it's just happens to you every once in a while, that probably won't help.

Got back last night, major traffic, road flooding, and bad accidents on the roads. At one point near Frederick, MD, we waited an hour to drive 3 miles, thanks to an overturned semi. UGH. Nothing like 9 hours in a car and 3 baskets of dirty laundry to make a Gopher's day, right? :faint:
Weird Weird trip to in-laws. All I can say is, you guys did NOT pray for me nearly enough. I am a very easy-to-get-along with gopher, especially when visiting DH'sfamily. My only altercations typically are with DH, LOL, and those I *try* to keep just between us. But this time, well, I was a rodent ready to explode. I was doing great....my tongue was half-severed from biting it, but I was making it, ya know? And then it happened - some she-said-he-said convo came my way mid-week, with a request for an apology from my DH, and I vented. What was interesting - I never lost emotional composure. Normally, when confronted like that, I am a puddle of tears. THis time, though, I was so calm and composed - I scared myself! And I am so proud of DH - he stood up for me, and for our kids. IN the end, though, we had to just swallow it and pretend it never happened - that was tough, but we knew if we didn't, our kids would pay the price, and we just couldn't see that happen. Plus - having a major, no-holds barred all-out discussion would NOT be pretty - not so much for us, but I think there are resentments amongst that family that they have harbored for YEARS and I think it would seriously impair the relationship between MIL and BIL, and since they live only a mile away from each other, we didn't want to be the wedge that unglued them from each others' hips. So in the interest of family... we sucked it up, but at least we did it together, haha. In that respect this was a MONUMENTAL trip for DH and I because prior to this, I had always felt these undercurrents brewing, but DH just never saw it, or didn't want to see it, whatever. Having him there kind of solidified "us" more, and I think, as a result, I will have easier trips there in the future. So I guess THAT was good... kinda in the way a colonoscopy is "good", but you get the idea.
Other than that - got lots to catch up on. Don't know that I'll EVER catch up around here! Tried to log on at IL's but could NOT remember my password and system would not send it to me, despite 2 requests! Once I got home, it was easy enough (it's saved in my computer @ work). It's just as well - my ILs are still phone-modem folks, and once you've gone cable, it's too hard to go back! My home computer, however, appears to be FRIED. No clue WHAT it's issue is, it was working fine when we left, but something is tying it up inside, it won't access about 90% of our programs, including the Net... it will take me all of this week to sort it out, thanks to alrady being busy and physically/mentally fatigued.
Well, lots of email to read - catch you later! It's good to be back in the burrow agin!:sunny:

Gopher- glad the trip is over. Not sure if it was a good one, or a bad one from the sounds of things. At least August is not too far off, and that should be a "good trip" right? When do your kids go to camp? Can't wait to hear how your daughter does for two weeks.
CB-(and others) thanks for the sweet comments about my pics. My camera is a Canon SD630. I just got it for Mother's Day, so I'm really trying to figure out what I'm doing with it. I was pretty pleased with it. I had wanted to take just my girls after Easter to take pictures in their Easter dresses, but I never got around to it. I'm going to try to go one of these mornings, when it's not 100 degrees.
Rozzie- get me some ambien too! I have been suffering from insomnia a lot lately. Never have had a problem in my life, but here lately, it's been bad. I've noticed the older I get (ahem), that I can't have caffiene very late (used to never bother me), and even then, I'm still having difficulty some nights. Sometimes, I can go to sleep, but then Addison will wake up at 3 or 4, and then I can't go back to sleep. Glad you didn't attempt to drive to work. You did the right thing by calling in.
Not sure what the plan is today. Waiting for DH to call and see if he wants to take us to lunch today. Addison is in love with LuLu's. LuLu's is a restaurant that is owned by Lucy Buffet (Jimmy's sister). It's right on a canal in Gulf Shores, and sits on a Marina with lots of nice boats. DH likes to sit and eat and drool over the boats. Addison just likes the big piles of sand that they have for the kids to play in. We went last weekend and took my parents for their 40th anniversary. We sat at a table right next to Lucy and her family. (no Jimmy that day) My Mom talked to Lucy the other day and she recently remarried a guy from Krispy Kreme donut fame! Man, what a marriage, a seafood restaurant married to a Krispy Kreme donut guy! :worship:

Well, I said that I maintained composure....not the case for MIL, so I guess it meets your latter criteria! It was just so weird - I mean, BIL was supposedly mad at DH, so their whole family renegged on dinner 10 minutes before dinner time (so MIL was stuck with dinner for 12.... with only 7 diners). I never said anything about it, but knew in my heart - something was up. So we eat, we wash dishes, and lo and behold, in walks SIL. She drops off nephew (he spent the night - every night but one - at MIL/FILs - while we were there.) and says she's there to get food to take home! (I was appalled, but MIL catered to her, so who was I to say anything. I just dried dishes and talked about the weather.) SIL wouldn't even look at me - very aloof. DH was out back playing baseball with the kids. A melee erupted - SIL hollers out for the older kids to be "mindful" that her son is younger (Hello, he's 8 mos older than my dd.... biting tongue...biting tongue....) So she leaves... with MIL carrying her "to go" order to her car. When MIL comes back about 15-20 mins later, she tells me to tell DH that he needs to "apologize to his brother", because SIL told MIL that BIL told SIL that he was "hurt by our lack of appreciation." (Whew. Anybody else think this family needs some SERIOUS communication classes?) I said, "Why are we the messengers?" Frankly, I wasn't upset about the request for DH to "apologize" - he can be insensitive, LOL, I ought to know! I didn't think he was, but an apology is no biggie. I was VERY upset about the fact that BIL couldn't speak his own mind and that SIL came in, pulls MIL to the side, and tells her to tell me to tell DH! Good Grief! I have seen less confusion on a 3rd grade playground. So when I say that this whole artful dodging is ridiculous, MIL bursts into tears, saying she can't understand why we can't all get along and have a "nice family time". I told we CAN have "nice family time" but she has to limit her expectations. She thinks it should be as it was when she was a kid, but I pointed out that in her childhood stories, it was her, her parents, her grandparents - no extra kids, no real differences in parenting styles. I told her I am glad she has family near by, I know they depend on each other, but that just once, it would be nice if, during our 2 weeks out of the year, she put our kids first, spent some time alone with them, got to know them one on one, not with extra cousins tagging along. DH waddles in during some of this and listens - as for the "apology", he says his family does stuff he never asks them to do, and then expect him to be "thankful" for it. (I should also note that in BIL's case, he complains while he does it - that always bugs me. Why do it, if you plan to grouse the whole time, like you are doing me a Texas-sized favor?) And somewhere in all of this - MIL decides to dish on ME! This was a real first, folks - she has NEVER done that before. But get this - guess what her prime 3 complaints were about me? You would think, after knowing me for 16+ years, it ought to be pretty good - oh, I don't know, I can think of a number of things she could have cited, LOL... heck, I bug myself sometimes! But here's what she said are my faults:
(1) Too fair.... I try too hard to make all things equal for my kids.
(2) I don't love my nephews/niece enough, or make a big enough fuss over them.
(3) I am too generous. I give gifts to my nephews/nieces and my other 2 kids when it is my kid's birthday, and that's wrong.
I think there was a mention too of me "trying to organize things". I think (1) and (3) are faults I can live with, frankly, as is a desire for order. But as for (2), foremost, I disagree - maybe I don't DEMONSTRATE love in the same way she does (she is much more a coo & gush type person with kids.) But she can't put a value on my feelings. Now, if she expects me to treat them as my own kids, however - well, pose the same question to SIL/BIL and see what response you get. It's so funny - DH has 2 cousins I never met until we had been married for 5 yrs. Why? Because MIL wouldn't have anything to do with them! Didn't care for the kids or the way they were being raised. (Pot - meet kettle. Kettle, this is Pot. ) And she hasn't spoken to her only sibling in years, perhaps never again - another falling out. So actually, I think we're doing DANG GOOD here! MIL has no idea what work I do behind the scenes to make our trips flow as smoothly as possible, and I didn't see merit in educating her. DH really impressed me by stepping up and saying she wasn't being fair to me, and in the course of that conversation, we discovered a terrible truth - our MIL is jaded AGAINST one of our kids. Thinks he's a trouble maker. He's not - he's impetuous, yes. BUt he's my little Hammie the Squirrel! A more loving, sweeter kid you never ever will meet. ANd ironically, it's THAT kid that loves to visit his grandparents the most. DH really stood up for our middle DS, too - another thing to make me proud. We also noted MIL seems jaded TOWARDS our eldest - she commented more than once that our eldest will "always be her first grandson". Ummm, what about his 2 siblings - what are they, swiss cheese? Our eldest also bears the strongest resemblance - ok, VERY strong - to my DH. Wondering if that plays a role. It was all a real eye-opener to say the least.
MIL wanted to open the tables up to the whole adult family and have one big verbal pow-wow the next day. But I told DH privately - NO GOOD CAN COME OF THIS!! MIL's birthday was that weekend, and all the woman wanted was a "nice family time". I am certain that a "no holds barred" talk would most likely open up wounds that couldn't be glossed over during cake and ice cream. Ther could be big rifts - and not necessarily between us and them, but within their groups, based on the info they seem to always want to dump on me when I visit. And then I thought - well, poop, who even knows how much of any of that is even true. I think sometimes they dish on each other around me to see if I will join them... but I know how that game goes - that just leaves you open to be discussion fodder the other 50 weeks of the year you aren't there! No thanks! So DH and I made a pact - neither of us would leave the other in a situation where we might be forced to enter one of those "what do YOU think " little private side-bars.... especially over at BIL's house, where SIL seems to do that every time to me. WHen we left, SIL said maybe they would visit us for Labor Day - frankly, I won't hold my breath. THey haven't visited us as a family for 5 yrs. Picturing them now, with 3 kids, driving 8 hrs out, 8 back, for a long weekend - well, it ought to be interesting.
Sorry to have bored you guys with all this. Guess I just needed to vent. Rainy days and Mondays and in-laws always get me down..... CArry on with all previously unscheduled nothingness!

We're here to listen gopherit. Sometimes, there's nothing you can do but vent, and it causes less friction at home if you vent to us. (Even though dh agreed, I'm sure you don't want to harp on it with him. *I say this, as I tend to do it when MIL gets to me. My poor dh.*)
If I were you, I'd pat myself on the back. If those are your worst traits, you should be nominated to sainthood. They all sound quited admirable to me.
DOn't get me started on grapndparents playing favorites. My grandma failed my grandpa by never giving him a boy. So, when there first grand child wa sa boy, the sun rose adn set with him. Me, being the last and one of those meanly girls, I did not exist. After grandpa died and THE grandchild did not get the house up north (my selfish grandma sold it and used the money to live on), he treated my grandma like dirt. Sad, but what goes around.....
Let's just hope your kids never find any of this stuff out. Sending you some :sunny: ! SOUnds liek you did very well. Wow, also sound like a good thing you do not live nearby. Pretty good thing those roads only go one way too. ;) I don't think I'd want them visiting too often. ;)
Greetings from SUNNY Seattle!!!! :kickingco :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:
Not too often in the last 12 years I've been able to say that!

Ginger~ We haven't decided yet....but it will probably be around the middle of the month. When are you going? I would LOVE to meet up with ya if we're down there at the same time!!
Gopher~ I feel for ya!!! My Mom is the one that plays that role in my family :headbrick . And as for
(1) Too fair.... I try too hard to make all things equal for my kids.
(2) I don't love my nephews/niece enough, or make a big enough fuss over them.
(3) I am too generous. I give gifts to my nephews/nieces and my other 2 kids when it is my kid's birthday, and that's wrong.
Doesn't #2 contradict #3?!?
Nono~ I've got the beach covered!! Luckily, it's been nothin' but rain here!

Oh Gopher. I can't imagine what going through all of that was like. I guess the good thing about my family problems here is we can do 80 mph backwards out of the driveway when things start going south (and be home in 10 min-1 hour). Sounds like MIL needs a home visit from Dr. Phil. I do so admire you for refusing to dish. You are very wise to know that any words will come back to haunt you. I have learned the hard way about that. I agree with Carrie, if that is all your MIL can fault you on, you just surpassed the Pope for sainthood. (my MIL could write mulitvolume size complaints on me, 50% which is true) Good for DH to stick up for you, and for your kids. It is so amazing to me how so many times, families pick favorites. Sounds like she really has issues, and BIL, etc. There are lots of things to be thankful in life, I think one of your biggest one's is that you live 8 hours away! Can you imagine if you lived across the street, like Everybody loves Raymond? <<hug>> to you Gopher. We are always here to listen. I truly believe in the power of venting to parties not involved. Venting lowers blood pressure too! :)
nono---see what a great person you are----go to a rainy dreary city, and the sun comes out!! :sunny:

wouldn't it be nice if we all had a 7th Heaven family?
But we don't.
I've found when you live far away and don't get to visit as often.....you cna't begin to 'get into ' the stuff that the regulars have going on , and if you do..you will ALWAYS be blamed for horning in...Such is the way of extended families!
Welcome back Susie...yes, Colorado is a pretty state. Where did you get to go?

Welcome back Susie...yes, Colorado is a pretty state. Where did you get to go?
I flew into Denver, but mostly stayed in Fountain & the Colorado Springs area. We did take a trip to Castle Rock outlets and I was able to make some nice purchases! It was such a nice & relaxing trip! Next time I'll bring DH and we'll visit w/o my mom (I love her, but I can only stand about 2 days of her before I want to run into traffic! :hammer: ). We'd like to see more of the state & maybe stay a little longer.

THanks, Guys, for the moral support! (Or is that "morale" support? :veryconfu ) Either way - THANKS! :goodvibes
I'm writing this from home on my very disturbed computer... which is currently operating under "safe" mode. How pathetic is that. (ALmost as pathetic as calling last week a "vacation"...) One funny thing happened - DS11 (the "Chosen One" from our herd, LOL) decided it wasn't cool to hang out w/ the relatives during this trip. He would not go spend the night at SIL/BIL's house (said he wanted time AWAY from the "little people"). And of all the strange things, he wanted to come with me every time I left the house! One day I had errands to run (it was the morning after the "talk", and yes Susie I thought that too - Complaint #3 DOES contradict #2, although it backs up #1. So dress me in red and call me Santa.) ANYHOOO... Young ManChild bolts up out of bed, ready to come with me! I said - It's shopping! He said, "I don't care!" So I took ManChild to Starbucks and bought him a hot chocolate and some cinnamon cake. He in return carried my bags for me and even helped me pick dresses for his sister! The one thing ya gotta love about where my ILs live - lots of outlets, no sales tax. Got some GREAT Strausburg dresses for DD, shoes and jackets for the kids at LLBean, shirts for me at E.Bauer, we sampled all the goodies at Harry and Davids ;) , got oodles of GREAT kids clothes for like 1.99 a piece at Children's Place, just lots of good "stuff".
Well, gotta go try to solve this computer thing. Later gang...

Geesh Gopher- you are going to have to call in sick just to get a couple of days to recoup! I can't believe you restrained yourself! (no way could I have made it through) I guess if those are the worst things your MIL has to say about you, than you're in good shape. I'm way nicer to my MIL than my DH is, so she treats me good! We have a family business (which I know I've mentioned before) and DH and his Mother don't see eye to eye. They are in your face people. If they have a problem with something they will let you know about it right away. I have been a part of more family meetings than I would care to. I just keep my mouth shut! I am not confrontational in any way shape or form. It takes a lot to get me to say something or complain to someone, even if I totally have a reason to. I'm just a wimp I guess. Too funny about the golden child going shopping with you! He really must have been desperate to get out of that place. And a big woohoo for the children's place sale, I got myself some $1.99 pants for the kids last week too!
Soozay- what a cutie!
VBS is going well. I haven't killed anyone else's kid yet this week!:hahahaha: 2 more days to go! Off to pray for more patience.....

Yes, we almost missed all those deals @ Children's Place too - they didn't have the signs up, it was only because a woman in the store scanned some items through and noticed the markdown. So I started scanning EVERYTHING at that point, LOL, on their courtesy scanner - I got a $30 spring coat for dd for 3.99, swim suits for both boys for 1.99 (plus shirts that match), denim shorts for DS11 for 1.99... hard to beat that. Especially if they are just going to TRASH it all at camp, LOL. I leave with DS9 and DD6 for camp this weekend - trying to get labels in everything they are taking. UGH!! Just found out today that the riding boots I ordered for DD are NOT in stock - have to go find some locally. Grr. Too late to order now, or at least, without paying FedEx rates! DD is VERY VERY VERY excited and talks about camp every day. DS9 is excited... but trepiditious. DS11, meanwhile, leaves for Boy Scout camp this Sunday. Got his new cot out tonight... darn it, the rubbermaid bins I bought won't fit underneath it - gotta go get new ones. Double grrrrr.
Well, it's after midnight and I still have UNpacking to do, so that I can PACk for this weekend! If yall don't hear from me for a while - you'll know my "safe-mode only" computer imploded. That, or my head. Hard to say which would happen first - it's a crapshoot. :veryconfu

Wow Gpher...sorry to hear about the in-law mess! In a strange way you made me kind of appreciate living only a hour away from my own in-laws.....atleast I don't have to spend more than a few hours at a time with them!
I can relate about getting sucked into conflicts. My in-laws are always trying to trip me up about things. I learned a looonnnggg time ago to just keep my mouth shut about things. They all think I'm a you know what and/or way too quiet/shy because I barely talk to them about anything besides basic stuff. I was talking to SIL (DH's sister) a few months ago and she was having big time problems with them...and this is her OWN family. I told her "I found it is much safer to stay neutral and silent when it comes to them" She told me that I was the only smart one. They're all crazy!
Dh wants to take us all to see Cars today, including the terror child! She's never been to the movies before (besides WDW shows/movies which are much shorter!) and I seriously doubt she will make it through. I've been trying to talk him out of it but no luck :( So, I give her about 15 minutes before she starts up and then I'll be spending the rest of the time walking around the lobby with her while DH and DS enjoy the show. (Thankfully it's one of those 16 theater places with a BIG lobby)

Greetings from the sweatbox.
My AC went out last night, and it did not sound good. Not blowing air at all (compared to when it doesn't blow cool air) and making the sound of a moped trying to crank up. We bought the house new 1.5 years ago, so the AC is 1.5 years old. Isn't compressors supposed to last longer than 1.5 years??? The AC people are not answering their phone, still the answering service, even though they have been open for almost an hour now. I probably need to use them if there is any type of warranty left (they were the installers). Pouring over research last night of our warranties, looks like we just missed the deadline. If we couldn't laugh, we would go insane.
In other news, we finally agreed upon the what to do for our 10 year anniversary. I finally bended and we won't be going to the mouse, probably to the Gatlinburg, TN area----> where we honeymooned. Kinda cheesy I know, but I think it would be neat to go up there where we were 10 years ago. The chalet we stayed is still available for rentals, but I think we are going to pass. It was awesome, cool views, hot tub etc, but the new owners have redecorated it in this contemporary mode that is :thumbsway. I just don't understand people that will take this adorable mountain country decorated cabin and put bright red and black and try to make it look like it is a city slicker new york apt. I guess I am just weird. There is another chalet we were looking at photos to and it is decorated in the style I like (you know, mountainy) and is higher up with absolute incredible views, and only $190 a night, and your 7th night is free. not bad huh? We plan to do a lot of outside stuff, you know hiking, horseback riding, whitewater rafting. We didn't get to a lot of that stuff last trip, well, becasue we were on our honeymoon. :innocent: I might too look at Grove Park Inn in Asheville that is in the concerige collection I believe. mmmmnn.... think I will do do some more research. ;)

Rozzie, the Grove Park Inn is NICE!!! It's $$$, but there are often weekday deals. There food is very good. I think it's usually a buffett. The spa is nice too. Asheville is a great city. I vote you go there. :)

I feel your pain about the AC Rozzie! Why can't the AC go out on a day that you just kinda need it?!?!? And not on the hottest & most humid day of the year?!? To help keep you cool, here's a :margarita & :ale: on me!
And I never got the "city look in the mountains" either! If I'm going to the mountains, I want that cabiny look....if I wanted the "city" look, I'd go to the city. :fresh: Sounds like you found a nice place! I don't think it's corny at all to go back to where you honeymooned! But then again, I'm about as corny as you get  . :ROTFL: You're going to have such a great time! They're transplants (which from what I understand...there are alot of!). They live in a new development (can't recall the name). The name of their street is Coral Sunrise. They love it down there. My DH & I went there for NYE last year and had a great time. If Harry's job didn't require him to be in NJ, we'd probably be down there too (bothering all of the natives :ROTFL: ). My BIL works for Wachovia at their corporate office in Charlotte.

I don't know where that road is. If you think of the development name, let me know. It's probably near my house, they've built a lot of developments. Do you remember how to get there (what main road it's off of)?
Yes, there are a lot of transplants. As a native, it can be good and it can be bad. LOL :) We live at what used to be way out in the country in the middle of no where. Now it's not so much.
Let me know next time you visit.
