Wow - $500?????????????
I took care of my friend's 2 psychotic pugs over Christmas for 16 days and she paid my kids (thankfully they agreed to do most of the work) a total of $230.00. This included me having the flu and pneumonia, one dog ripping out a toenail and having to go to the emergency vet, one dog was on antidepresants twice a day, and both dogs peed and pooped all over my house. 16 days! You were gone over a long weekend. The math isn't working there - and you had to be worried about them the whole time?
Time to find a new dog sitter!!!! Just FYI - there are wonderful pet sitters that will go to your home 3 or 4 times a day to give your pets love, let them out, etc, and they are only about $40 or so a day - might want to check into that!
Being sick of being "Understanding "about DH's work...... yes - I'm currently there as well. The return date has changed so many times my head is spinning. This just happens to be in the middle of Cub Scout Day Camp - and I'm one of the Directors. So I'm trying to figure out what day he's getting here so that I can get someone to cover for me if I have to. Arg. How hard is it to just say - "we're coming home on ___" and leave it there!!!??? What drives me the most nuts are the wives that have no lives outside of their DH's jobs and call me constantly asking "What I've heard" and "What are we doing" the day they get back. Well - I'll be at Day Camp all day for 9 hours...... they flip.
'Nough of that. It's 7:57 and I could really use one of those Chocolate Martinis.
DH just e-mailed me last night with a photo of an oil painting of his helicopter saying he was sorry - but he had to do it. $400 later...... we still have to get it framed too! It's a nice picture of the helicopter - but I'm getting worried. He's not going to want to hang a $400 painting in his office...... and there is no room in the entry hall for anymore military stuff...... I just know it's going to end up on the living room wall!!!!!:Paranoid:
So - today is work day. Have to clean up the garage, DH's office and our bedroom (I've let it become a disaster lately) before DH get's back and this is the only weekend I'll have any time. If youdon't hear from me again - I'm lost in piles of paperwork, or stacks of camping gear.......

Rozzie, your poor doggy probably had a better time on his vacation than being with your mom anyway! He's probably rubbing it in to your little one about what a great time he had. ;)
CB, glad to hear you got your truck back! On the other hand...I am never visting your state! LOL Having worked with the courts here for years, I've seen some absurd things but the stuff you have been through boggles the mind!
Erin, quite often I am also worried about my written words here and DH or someone else I know reading it :hahahaha: You should see the stuff I self-censor out of this thread in particular ...just in case! :scary:
Laura, I would double check with your DH's boss's schedule....:scratchch Just kidding, I'm sure he's very eager for the Operation! :slyasafox
Kristy, I'm sure that painting will look beautiful in person, in your DH's arms :lovestruc It must be so frustrating having the date changed so much! I really hope he comes home soon!!!
Nono, glad to see you had so much fun at the Church picnic. Your DD sounds adorable!
Sorry if I missed anybody! :o I hope everyone is doing well!

Ok, my own update...we had the cub/boy scout flag ceremony this morning at Calverton Cemetery. I was going to skip it but decided last minute to go. I'm glad I did.
So this morning, we all took the trip out to the cemetery. This place is huge! It's one of the largest (if not the largest) National cemeteries in the country. (according to the website:Calverton is the largest, and one of the most active national cemeteries currently overseen by the National Cemetery Administration.)There are almost 200,000 grave sites there.
It's actually a pretty amazing and moving site. When you get there in the morning, there is just acres and acres of white headstones and in about a half hour, there are thousands and thousands of American flags in front of every single one.
I finally told DH last night about what I found out, of course I get the usual "get over it look" and no empathy at all but he did promise that DS would not put a flag on that grave. Since I know DH too well, I couldn't really trust him to be honest with me about it. I know darn well that he would come home, I would ask him and he would lie to my face and tell me what he thinks I want to hear (and more importantly to him, what will keep me from being upset and mad at him )
For those of you that missed the original post before I deleted it, last week, I found out that someone who caused me a great deal of pain in the past was buried in the one section we were assigned to. 200,000 graves and the 1 person I had hoped to never have to think about and allow into my life again is in our area! I did not want my own son to honor this person in anyway and was very upset, depressed, anxious etc about it. Basically I was an emotional wreck!
Fortunately, our section alone had about 500 graves and we didn't run across it at all. :o It's over and I have a huge sense of relief now. Of course, now they need volunteers to go back next weekend and pick up all the flags :faint: But I don't think that will be as difficult as placing a Flag to honor his memory, KWIM?
So if the bar is open early today, I can really use a nice celebratory drink for making it through the past 2 weeks :) (I REALLY hope that doesn't seem selfish of me :tearsaref )
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I am very glad you got through this Stimpy!!! Nothing like having real pain dredged up in such an awful way, so I am glad you never saw that particular stone at all:hug: I never saw the original post but I am happy for you anyway:goodvibes and no, you are not selfish!!!!!!

Is the bar open? I could use a Stella. :)
I'm tired. We cleaned the house from top to bottom this morning. Everything is extra super clean!
Then we worked the rest of the day outside. All weeds are gone, roundup is out, gutters are clean, grass is cut, ivy is cut, bushes are trimed, old satelite dish is down, etc, etc. Still need to re-stain the deck, but there are 2 more days of the long weekend left.
In honor of not being at WDW :( we are cooking the Flame Tree's ribs for supper. 30 minutes and then we can eat.
Time to rest. Have a good weekend everyone.

Stimpy--congrats on getting through today. It had to be so tough for you, I can't imagine. I hope things get better for you. Do something nice for yourself, you deserve it.:)
Mr. Stimpy and Mr. Rozzie are so much alike--- DH is all ready talking aboiut when we meet up in November!
CB, glad you got your truck back, what a nightmare. Now you are ready for snow season again. Hope you don't have anymore problems with it.
Kristy--the painting sounds great! I know you are so excited for DH to be home, I can't imagine what you must go through on a daily basis. My hats off to you.
Ginger--Flame Tree Ribs, yum, and Stella? Double Yum!!!!

:birthdayc Did I totally miss Erin's birthday? :( If I did I apologize! I know you mentioned that it was coming very soon. I've been looking on the bottom of the front page for it but didn't see it. If I missed it, I hope it was a great day! (And if I'm early, I hope it WILL be one :upsidedow ) Hope your DH was able to get some time off for it!
Mr Stimpy! :hahahaha: I like that sound of that! I've always been Mrs. Flash when ever we get together with his U2 board friends (that's when they acknowledge me at all ) But then they are such an odd bizarre bunch...I mean ALL they talk about is U2 the WHOLE time....can you imagine??? ;)

Thanks Stimpy! Nope you didn't miss it, but the rest of the family seems to have though! My Birthday is today, frankly it hasn't been the best.:sosad: Since DD10 and my Birthday are so close together we usually do a family dinner out somewhere combined. Of course I made all the arrangements and we went to Outback Steakhouse last night for dinner (DD's pick). We went at 4:00 thinking we would miss the crowds, but they were already there. So we ended up sitting at seperate tables. I sat with DH, his parents, and his grandparents. My parents sat at a table with DH's sister and our kids. Not what I had really planned on. The meal was fine, but before the dinner started DH's grandmother tells us that her brother will probably die within the next 24 hours and began to cry. I feel really terrible about the whole situation, she has been taking care of him for months, and they just recently brought hospice in and sent in a 24 hour nurse. DH's grandmother is exhausted, and I can see her and his grandfather being brought down physically and emotionally by this whole ordeal. Obviously no one's fault, just a bad situation. Anyway, sort of put a damper on the whole dinner. To make matters worse DD10 is pretty sick. She has been running fever most of the weekend, and I'm just hoping it's not strep (it's been going around). DH and I kinda had words on Friday about him possibly having to work this weekend! Not a good start to the weekend anyway. He asks me at 9:30 Friday night, "what do you want for your birthday?" I just kinda looked at him, because I thought since he hadn't asked me at all this week, that maybe he had come up with something on his own. I did some heavy duty thinking overnight, and told him that I wanted a new coffee table for my Birthday. You have to know, that I hate the current coffee table that we have. DH thinks it's just fine. He's the type of person that thinks you should buy a piece of furniture once, and NEVER change. I on the other hand think that change is good, and would like to part with the ugly coffee table!:zipit: So anyway, I should have known that my request would not go over well. He never said another word about the table until 7:20 last night on our way home from dinner. He worked at home yesterday for 6 hours on his laptop before we went to dinner, so it wasn't like he didn't have any time to discuss it with me earlier. Anyway, the only person who seems to have remembered my Birthday today is the 3 year old! First thing out of her mouth this morning was "Is today your birthday Mommy?" I guess that I had secretly hoped that he at LEAST had a card for me! The part that aggravates me the most was that he didn't even make an effort to have something for me from the girls. I always go out of my way to make a big deal about his birthdays, because the kids think it's such a big deal. ( I feel like I'm repeating gopher's post from Mother's Day) He even had the nerve to ask me if I have had a good birthday? I don't mean to sound like a whiny baby, because I did get some gifts yesterday from the parents. My parents bought me a new Bible (which I asked for),some new silverware (I think the kids are throwing away all my spoons), and an outfit. DH's parents got me a new purse with some cash inside!:woohoodan Of course I told DH today that the reason his Mother gives me money every year for my Birthday is because she is paying me child support to keep him, so he won't move back home!:jawdroppi (sounds really mean I know, but I said it in a joking way). I told him someday I would get him raised the way I wanted him! Bottom line, my feelings are hurt, and I think that I will sit him down and talk to him about it tonight. If I don't, it's just going to eat away at me until I blow up. He hasn't always been this way, but it seems that here lately, if I don't hold him by the hand, and take him to the store and say "this is what I want" , he doesn't think he has to make the effort.:crackedup Sorry to be such a downer on the nothing thread. Chalk it up to another thread that will need to be deleted when I die!;) Hope everyone else is having a great Memorial Day weekend! Gotta go check on the sick kid...

I am sorry too that your birthday was a challenge. I hope the talk goes okay:fingerscr
DH doesn't hear when I drop hints through the year. We decided that I would point things out as a gift idea anytime they popped up and he's been recording them in his Treo phone. That way when an occasion pops up, he can refer to the list. I got Tempurpedic slippers for Mothers Day because of this new plan :goodvibes

Oh Erin, I am so sorry your birthday was a bummer. I always make such a big deal out of birthdays, I grew up thinking it was "YOUR special day", kinda like princess for the day. DH, God love em', it the worst present buyer ever. I buy all my own presents. :hammer: At Christmas I even wrap them up under the tree and put a tag on them, "TO: Rozzie FROM: Mr. Rozzie" :hammer: :hammer:
But I can't imagine how hard that must have been for you. I would really take it hard if I wasen't the center of attention on my birthday. Probably why I don't want children, I am pretty spoiled. :Princess: Let me know what day is good, and I will take you out to lunch! I wonder where we will go?
Kimberly, Mr. Stimpy sounds really over the edge. Imagine, being online all the time, talking the same thing, about the same stuff. He might have a problem! :ROTFL: :ROTFL:
DH belongs to a Lost online group. Talk about some weirdo's. I would hate to meet up with that bunch one day. Everyone of them thinks the gov't is out to get em'.....

I'm starting to think some of our nothing thread members in-laws are a little behind in the payments ;) I hope today is a better day for you! :flowerfor

Erin - that truly is a bummer. Good luck with the talk - it's a must do - but not somethign that will be a lot of fun......
In our family - I'm the one no good at gifts for DH. He usually buys what he wants/needs (hence the $400 painting of the helicopter) so when gift times come around I'm stuck. On top of that - he loves tools and electronics - 2 things I know nothing about.
For Mr. Erin:

WAIT! That one missed.

It just sucks that some people can't give what is needed to the people they love.
Weird that it seems endemic. But I don't believe it is just coincidental.
Perhaps all boys need to be enrolled in the 'Art of Gifting' class???????
I'm sorry to have missed your birthday Erin....:happybirt belated :happybirt ! Hope your DH makes up for a lousy start.
My truck was home for a day and then I lent it to my Godson's daddy who works at a mechanic's shop! He's going to give it a good 'going over' and then fix whatever at cost in exchange for using it during the summer. Hopefully, the bad people didn't abuse it too much when they used it all winter! I noticed that the rear view mirror was broken off its holder and that there was a key-type scrap down the side (hey, it is old and rusted anyway). Not sure what else they did, but it sure started up right quick!
Hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend!

Gopher here. Haven't caught up with all the posts, but I'll try over the next few days. Did see the most recent stuff about Erin's brithday - girlfriend, you KNOW the Gopher can RELATE! And for that, I am sorry! I am doing my best to raise two boys who are not gifting-impaired, LOL!
Meanwhile - WHAT A TRIP. I told DH that he is in deep doodoo if I become 1/10 the senior cit my mother has become. She is so controlling, and I really feel for my sister (who lives near her) because she really brow-beats her with negativity. And her dds too (that would be the last straw for me, frankly - she can make comments to me and say the things I'm doing are stupid, but not my kids! I'll call a REAL quick Personal Foul on that!) Anyway, she's also constantly RUSHING things. We must open gifts at xmas NOW - no lingering. Go go gogo GOOO! We must eat dinner NOW - God help the person who is late. You done with that? It's dessert. You will have it. You don't know what you're talking about if you don't. Go to church? Go NOW. But then get edgy through the whole thing, and leave before the last song! It's gogogogogo! And YET - of ANY of us - she's got the LEAST to rush FOR! She would not go to my niece's graduation, said she had other stuff to do, she did the same thing to my other niece. Heck, she did the same thing to my older sisters' weddings, too. She tried to guilt me by saying, "Well, I won't see YOU again until late TONIGHT......you'll be off at graduation parties with your sister. ANd she has NO sense of time...." Well, after graduation, and a luncheon after with sis and her DH's family and their kiddos, my dd and I were dropped back off at my mom's to change. My brother, who has been deployed for 4 mos, was returning home to OH and got guilted into stopping by at Mom's. (If I were DSIL - I'd kill him.) Anyhooo, I was very tired, and was already contemplating just staying around to chat with him, and I knew dd wouldn't get much out of fancy country clud soirees versus a swim in my Mom's pool, but before I could say as much, my mom started trying to manipulate my decision. Ugh. I was sorely tempted to just do the parties.... but I stayed home, and I am betting she felt somehow vindicated. I felt badly for my sis, but I can only be in one place at a time, and I knew I would get time with her later this summer. So the next day, Mom insists I should ride to my sister's house with her. Nooo, I plan to leave Dsis' house right after lunch, Mom - I'll drive separate. Well, she must have argued for a good 5 mins on how foolhardy that was. (My sister lives less than a mile away.... but it's in the direction I would be leaving to head home.) My real issue - I did NOT want to be rushed, Iand I knew that with my mom, she would make up her mind to leave, that would be that, and I'd be getting fussed at, and so would my dd.
Well, Mom starts getting edgy, fussing at my niece (who hadn't opened up gifts yet), fussing at me (who was blocking her car in the drive), fussing at dd (who wasn't in the 95 degree hot car waiting to leave)... My DBil's family was leaving at the same time, so we were all making a mass exodus - people were everywhere in my sister's driveway. My niece put my dd in her seat, but meanwhile, my mom had already started her car - I panicked, because I thought, great, here we go, she's ready to go and gonna plow right into me. I race to the other side of my van to quickly hook up the dvd player for my dd. WHile I'm standing there, fastening the last strap, my van lurches backwards, with dd in it and I hear a sickeneing CRUUUUUNCH - yep. She hit me. OR rather, my van. For which, I should add, I am thankful --- rather my van than me, or my child!
We all collectively scream, so she whips it into drive... and promptly hits my sister's car.
We scream again - it's turning into a bad home video moment - so she whips it into reverse - and we all go NO! so she puts it in park and turns off the car.
Well, my mom's car didn't have so much as a scratch. Gotta love those Olds solid metal bumpers.
And my sister's car looked ok, sans a scratch or so. She tapped it square on.
My Sienna - well, the whole front bumper will have to be replaced = she crushed it in. Thankfully it was still safe to drive, but due to the ensuing melee, I didn't get out of town til nearly 5 and didn't get home till after midnight. Dd and I stopped a few times for quick potty breaks, a McD fix for her (she loves those BuildA Bear toys), and a Starbucks fix for mom at 10 pm in beckley (kudos to the clerk there who fixed dd a to-die-for kid's cocoa with chocolate and caramel and the whole 9 yards!)
ANyway, Mom called DH last night (while I was in transit) then again this morning. She says she couldn't recall - did she hit my front bumper or my rear bumper? I am having doubts whether she should be driving, but am already DREADING THAT DISCUSSION. We just had a woman her in her 70's convicted of murder for hitting a pedestrian in a crosswalk. My mom doesn't realize just how very lucky we all were. Her comment a tthe time: "well if we had just left 15 minutes earlier like I wanted, this wouldn't have happened..." I told her it would have just happened 15 minutes earlier, or worse, for had she backed up even 1 minute -- perhaps 30 seconds -- earlier than she did, it might have been Caroline. Things happen, we will get by, but please, PLEASE, STOP RUSHING EVERYTHING. Doubt she will. It's so frustrating, and I told DH last night as I was recounting the whole wkend to him, it scares the everloving crap out of me because I increasingly hear my mother in myself, and could see myself becoming a control freakish senior cit. I just know it.
Well, happy mem day wkend to all. Erin, maybe we should go shopping together - Stimpy, you in? Make up for all the events not recognized by our DHs! A girls' day out, all about us, LOL. How does Father's Day Weekend sound?
I really shouldn't bust too hard on DH lately - my Mother's Day Sorrows have been somewhat softened by his efforts around here while I was gone. Not TOTALLY compensatory - but a nice start! :D

We worked some more. Got the deck pressure washed and refinished. I also pressure washed the front porch and everything else that wouldn't move. I think pressure washing is fun, DH said I was crazy. LOL :)
Also saw the new x-men movie. It was pretty good. Did anyone else see it? If so did you watch the credits? If you did will you tell me what they showed afterwards? Apparenly they showed a preview or something, we didn't stay to watch. :(

I think pressure washing is cool too - off with the old, reveal the new, LOL! LIke a decking striptease.... just be careful not to strip too much - my BIL took the whole surface off his deck, and had to redo the whole sheebang. I've heard stories of folks taking paint off cars with those things... woof!
My kid was really quick to go assess my "damamge" when his dad told him "mom had a little accident." SO he runs out to the garage to check out the car. He and his brother gasped and asked just how it happened - I said their grandma did it. "WHoa - " says DS9 - "Whaddya know. Grandma got Mom loose and put 'er into the wall!"
Livin' in a house with NASCAR freaks. Gotta love it.
Speaking of which - felt really fortunate not to have had repercussions this year due to my destination. WHen I drove to my elder DNiece's grad 2 yrs ago over Mem Day wkend, I was stuck in traffic for 2 hrs - realized OH FUDGE - It's Lowes Motor Speedway wkend / CocaCola race - I am so toast. THis wkend, made the same mistake - realized what wkend it was as I approached Charleston, WV and was listening to the radio. So dd and I stopped in the Charleston Mall to build-a-bear as planned and I admit it - I wasn't in any great hurry. I think either traffic was greatly reduced or we timed it right, bcause other than the horrific rain we encountered now and then, the drive was smooth sailing. I did dodge Charlotte by taking I40 west to Hickory, then down 321 to Gastonia to I85 - that helps some too.
Well, gotta get some kids to bed. dd has kindergarten grad tomorrow - got her a cute charm bracelet for grad, I think she will love it, it will also give her something to "add on to" - like maybe a Disney charm or two (though I did already get a Pooh Bear for it! That, and a rabbit, and her birthstone.) The kids have this week and IT'S OVER! WAHOOOOOOO! I just LOOOOVE summertime! (I think I get more excited than they do!) PLans for Friday - our ritual, 6th annual Pizza Hut last day of school lunch together, and a movie. Can't wait!

Thanks to all of you for the Birthday well wishes, and condolences on my woe's! I wimped out on talking to DH last night. I am not a confrontational person. I'm so fearful that we will end up in a much larger arguement that I just couldn't bring it up. He did mention going shopping for the new coffee table before bed last night, so that is probably why I didn't bring it up. It really is more the fact that he didn't involve the kids in any way that is really eating at me I guess. It's still not a dead issue with me, I just have to work myself up to the conversation. I hope all this doesn't make DH sound like a big jerk, he is not. He is a great guy, that obviously just had a lapse in common sense for a couple of days!
On another sad Birthday note, DH's great uncle died at 11:45 last night. We have the combined visitation and funeral tomorrow. It's sad, but his Great Uncle lived a very long life, and he was so miserable before his death. He had all sorts of lung issues(a lifetime smoker and tobacco user) and congestive heart failure. He broke his hip about a year ago, and everything seemed to spiral downhill from there. He is without pain now, and is in a better place.
Gopher- so sorry about the car. Bring it on down and DH will fix you up. We'll give you a loaner car, and you and I can go shopping for missing gifts!:innocent: Stimpy can fly down to meet us, Rozzie and AFMom are close by. We can have one big MO's meet at Olive Garden. Mr. Rozzie can entertain all the kiddos with spaghetti noodles in the kitchen!;) I know how you feel about school. I was so happy last Wed. when my kiddos got out.
Drug DD10 to the doctor this morning. No strep. She said it was a viral respiratory infection, so no drugs. So we are just keeping her drugged with motrin and cough syrup. She seemed better this evening. Hopefully she will be well enough to go to her Girl Scout outing to Waterville on Friday.
I'm off to do some online shopping for my new coffee table. I'm not really sure what I want, so this could be a problem.....

Erin---So sorry to hear about your uncle, but as you said, he has his peace know and not suffering anymore.
Yep Gopher, come on down! We need to get a Gulf Coast MO group meet going on!
Well if ya'll can stand another minifamily vent I have one for you. If not, scroll down to next post. Was over at brother's yesterday for the cookout. His MIL drives me batty with WDW talk. She is always trying to "up" us, and talks about money non stop. (their wardrobe consists of Mercedes logo clothes, in case anyone misses seeing them in their cars :snooty: ) Anyhoo, here she comes again, talking about their upcoming Christmas trip. And how their trip is going to be the greatest trip in the history of all WDW trips ever taken by all human beings. They have 3 rooms for 4 nights at the CR Tower view at $525 a pop. I didn't even do the math, but she graciouslly did it for me, in case I couldn't add that high. Like I am supposed to be proud that she can spend in 4 days on accomodations what I spent on a whole contract for 50 some years. :sosad: Anyhoo, DH see's me eye balling him, as in "come change the subject NOW" eyes. (These new set of eyes are coming soon as Mr. Potato head parts at DTD....) OMG! The catching up I have to do! Forgive me because I know I'm going to miss someone!
Kim - Oh my, I think I need more deteails on some of those stories. Hope the party was fun!
Stimpy - I am so proud of you fro telling dh (even though I could kicking for not responding s I'd like) and for gettign through the weekend!!! SO, did you say your dh spends all his time online talking about one subject in particular? SOundsliek he needs help! I just can't imagine doing something like that. ;)
Rozzie - Sorry about your mom and teh dogs. Seems like you need to ceck out some other options. Got to get me soem of those new Mr. PH eyes! lol!
Erin - Sorry about your dd's great uncle. Very sorry about your b-day too. Please talk to dh soon. There are things that have been bugging me for years and eventually they build up and explode. For me, teh straw that broke the camel's back occurred after my dh had a day trip to his parents to deliever and install a lift for his dad. he left late, as always, but this is the one that put m eover the edge. (Very long story.) Anyway, I feel like a moster for blowing up when I did. It's much better to have teh talk when the timing is not so bad.
Laura - You will likely get the e-mail from dh upon my demise. PLEASE get her ASAP and edit my posts! Hope the 3rd time's a charm!
BTW - DH and I are getting a who to contact list together in case soemthing happens to one of us. I had wanted to bring it up forever, because I know my imaginary friends, I mean my online friends ;) would worry, but did not want to freak dh out. He had to do bills at his parents house when FIL was in the hospital, though. He requested tha twe make up various instructions. Still need to work on it, but I feel so much better having discussed it. I'll do bill and important papers in mine and he'll put how to light the boiler and hot water heater in his. BTW, even if your spouse knows everything you do and vise versa, make instructions. If you or your spouse in in teh hospital, someone else will be going for you bills and such and will be clueless.
CB - Glad to hear about your semi-victory!
Ginger - Sounds like we had simliar weekends. I only had 1.5 days, so I did much less but oh my body hurst from it. Hope you're doing better than I.
Kristy - I agree taht teh pic will be beautiful in your dh's arms! (Still would nto want it in my house, though)
gopherit - SO glad you adn dd are safe! You remind me of my MIL. SHe's always late, but on her way out the door, she yells at those of us who have been waiting for her for not being in the car yet! Love your kids' recap!
mini rant - OK, last week there was frost and it was in the 60s. This weekend it was darn near 90!!! This northern girl cannot take that! We only have a/c in the bedroom and I had to plant all of my flowers! Yikes! I'm proud of myself for taking hydration/cooling breaks, but could I have had a spring? It just seems to go from hot to frozen to hot again lately!

Carrie, agreed on the importance of a "list". I all ready brought DH to this site, showed him how to PM and all that, and gave him some names to PM. Now, for the bills? He will be clueless, no list will help him. Luckily most of our stuff is automatic draft, at least that will save him some. Now for someone else going through the bills, ooooohwwwwwe, are they in for a shock!! :holymoly: That will be talk of the funeral, how much we spent on our Disney obsession!!!!!!! :teacher:
Hey Carrie, hope things are getting better for you. The last few months sure have been stressful for you up there.

Rozzie - lol! Loved the minirant. I think every family has one of these "Mercedes" people. They're usually too dumb to know that bragging about that kind of spending just makes them look...well, silly. Too bad you didn't have a calculator on you. You could have whipped it out and said, "Hang on, I don't want to miss anything."
And your DH's comment was great!

Gooooodddddddd Morning Nothingerrrrrrrrrrssssssss!!!
Happy Tuesday that feels like Monday to you all!!!
*marking Carrie down on the "delete/edit" list as well* Anyone else? :)
Hubby tollerates my Disney obsession (poor thing even ends up making most of the toast and Pop Tarts in the singing toaster) so he probably wont be stopping in here. I have left instructions with another friend to let you all know if something long term happens that would keep me away. Sadly, I have more people here that I think would be worried than in the real world...friends wise that is. 3 little ones, working full time and lots of time spent with extended family means that I don't have a lot of social engagements that don't include one of those three...i.e. - me gots no girlfriends to hang with (and I have a couple of boyfriends left over from my youth...male friends that weren't romantic issues, but their wives are not so keen on best friend girl friends lol go figure!) So.....as pathetic as it may seem, this is my socializing away from work and family. :upsidedow But, I couldn't have picked a better group of people :)
Erin - Happy Birthday! I hope the year proves to be more enjoyable than the day itself!
Rozzie - I have an all knowing Disney family member who doesn't try to one up me, but we definately see the world differently, so I simply just listen, smile and nod. I do love the CR comment from hubby! My family is all about the zinger (although - not mean spirited ones) so it sounds like he would fit right in as I know you would :)
Its interesting to me how things happening to others can help us to get our houses in order. When my mother died, even though she had been sick for a long time, we weren't really expecting it. She was still fighting and we all thought with every ounce of being that she would beat things and it was quite sudden (she was having chemo and while weak, we thought she was fine...but she slipped away one night...peacefully, at home, not suffering or lingering at death's door, passing on as she wished). We were really caught off guard. I think it truly freaked hubby out that he knows so little about our finances at that point and time and he made a small effort to learn where things are and what is going on. Lasted....errrr...a month maybe. So if something happens to me, Mr. Love is SOL until my sister steps in and helps him (which will happen). I have lists, I have nothing hidden, but even if I tattooed it to my butt, he would say "where is that list again" AFTER I was cremated. God love him, but keeping up is my "job" in the big family picture. Luckily for us, I am not the spender if the family either, so it works out and I am not hiding things as I know sometimes happens. So he won't be in bad shape, just quite lost. If we could just hit the lottery, then I could pay someone to take care of him. Or I can go with plan B which involves the digging of holes in the back yard
OK - off to lunch!!! ACK!!! it is Tuesday. Gotta hurry back and see if everyone is chatting!

I've been saving up for over a year to get some home gym equipment. (and this is my birthday present too) I've researched this for over a year, knew exactly what I wanted, etc. So I ordered it over the weekend. This company gave a discount if you had a particular other store (gnc) discount card. 20% off and free shipping, I knew this ahead of time too. Ordered and noticed the discount wasn't on the confirmation email. So I emailed them to ask. Got a reply today basically saying they didn't do that anymore. Said they quit doing that in May 2006. Um, by my calendar this was ordered in May and it's still May 2006. Basically was told "tough break". So I called and ended up canceling my order. It's just the principle of the thing and the fact that I wasn't getting $200 off and free shipping (shipping was via truck so $$). Do you think I'm silly for doing this?
Now I've got to find somewhere else to order from. I found a place and it's a bit cheaper on some things, more on another. But I think a better choice. And I called a talked with them, seemed nice. The only bad thing is they are on the west coast, so longer time for shipping. But that's not a big deal.
Some companies need to work on their customer service skills. :)
Erin, sorry to hear of your DH's great uncle. I'll keep the family in my prayers.
Carrie, I'm not hurting from the yard work. I think because we called it an early day yesterday and went to the movies. Today I would rather be outside than stuck in the office. :)

Ginger - that isn't silly at all. I would do the same thing!!! I would also call back and ask for a member of management if you weren't talking to one at the previous store and tell them that they just lost your $_____ sale.
Gopherit - I am quite glad no one was injured except your gophermobile! It does sound like it is time for your mother to stop driving. What if she had been going down the road and something startled her? People can back into cars in the drive (don't ask Rash about it though - I hear he is still one sore pony about his lil blue baby) but her reaction of jumping back forward and hitting your sister's car is very telling that she really shouldn't be behind the wheel. My great grandmother used to drive well beyond her time for stopping had come and gone. She lives in a small town and her comment was "they see this big old white car coming and know it is me, so they get off the road." Her daughter ended up taking her keys because we knew it was just a matter of time before she hit something or someone. She was 102 when she passed on, so I do think she drove some up into her 90s.
Rozzie, Nono and ReWe - i am sor sorry I missed you all at chat. I swear that there is a sensor on my computer where it KNOWS when I am trying to chat and makes my life crazy for an hour or so at work! :computers

I wouldn't have bought from them either! You go girl!
In about 20 minutes I'm on my way to a nerve wracking meeting. I believe I will be being voted in as the new Cub Master for our Pack (I think I should be called a Pack Leader since I'm a girl - but DH disagrees.....). This is all fine and good - but the current Cub Master doesn't want to loose the job...... I really don't like this! When I was approached about taking the lead - everyone assumed he would just bow out, his 2 year commitment was up anyway... so I said I'd go for it - and then he didn't want to bow out - but everyone wants a new Cub Master! I'm hoping the Committee Chairman wil do all of the awkward business - I'm not good at hurting people's feelings.
I do think there needs to be a change - just wish I wasn't going to look like the big, bad blond this evening.
Oh well. DH said he'd wait up at the computer in Iraq this evening for me to e-mail him about how it goes. I really wish he was going to be home tonight! Oh well - I'm a big girl, right?
The countdown is looking REALLY GOOD!!!!!!!!! I can't wait!!!!!!!!!:jumpingbe

Had the funeral yesterday, it was all very nice. Met more cousins of DH's that I have never met in almost 13 years of marriage.:handshake Both his Mother and Father are from our county, so tons of family around here. I guess it's kinda shameful that the only time that huge amounts of family come together seem to be at funerals.
Nothing, I repeat nothing planned for today! Ahhh, I love summer! Slept in until 8:00am, and now I'm starting to plan my NYE trip to the world. I think that I'm going to get the kids to scrub the car out one day this week. They love to wash the car in their bathing suits. Next week is a little more exciting, a dermatology appointment for me, and braces for DD10!
I'll take that coffee, though you know what I really want....:ale:
Off to have lunch with a 95 year old! Poor guy just lost his wife (#3 by the way) and needs some company. Swell guy, it should be fun, but afterwards I'm sure I'll be in the mood for something other than lukewarm tea.

Greetings all.
Man, is may nuts or what? Yesterday was kindergarten graduation (always cute), after which I had to run to WalMart to fulfill my duties of buying 2 cans of shaving cream and 12 small toys for dd's "Messy Day" party. THrow in a 3rd can of cream and a few extra toys (because you KNOW someone else is gonna forget to do their part). Today, I drop 'em off at the school, along with money for dd for pizza, money for ds9 for his class gift, meds for poor DS11 allergies... then to work. Then it's to the house to get dd and a baseball uniform for ds11, who is at a end-of-school-yr pool party waaaay across town. Grab grumpy "hey-I-still-want-to-swim-not-play-ball-in-this-98-degree-sweatbox-wearing-polyester-pants" boy and put him in the car, along with a left-over slice of pizza and beverage for dd. Pit-stop for Gatorade and thank you notes; watch baseball games while supervising dd's signature on 15 thank you notes for her b'day gifts. DS9 and DH stroll over at 8 pm to catch tail end of game (ds9 had a game on other end of town that ended early.) Home for subs for whoever didn't eat pizza, left-over or otherwise.
Tomorrow the madness continues. I have to be to work at 6:30 a.m. to prep for a big conf. call (that folks aren't gonna like cuz my data says something isn't giving them the data they thought it would. Nothing says "stinky day" like being the messenger of bad news.) DS9 has another game, and gotta get all those end-of-yr teacher gifts put together (4 teachers, 1 principal, and one right-hand person that helps me with my committee.) THank goodness at least all my scout gifts are done, LOL. Friday, I'm only working a few hrs, gonna take the day to go to my kids' school for awards day, then take them out for pizza (our ritual), then take the van to the Toyota guy to see just how badly my mom "put me into the wall" as my boys say with her Sunday ram-a-thon. 3 games Friday night - each of our kids each on a different team, a different field, at the same time - AUUGH! What's a mom to do? And where's that cloning device when ya need it? Then DS11 is spending the night at a friend's. DS 9 goes to a party on Sat while the rest of us get set for the next wkend's yard sale...some baseball practice is in there somewhere too .... but lo - could it be? Yes - it's a miracle - SUNDAY IS WIDE OPEN!
Clearly God was a parent - like nono, He also recognized the merits of a good nap... and on the seventh day, I'm hoping we gophers will finally get a rest, too!. :faint: :faint: :faint: :faint: :faint:

Welcome back, Bavaria! I kow how you feel - more than a day or two away from the Nothingness - and it's too much nothingness to catch up on.....
Well - I'm Cub Master. Good thing I didn't know this at the time - but I'm the first female Cub Master the Pack has ever had. That stresses me out for some reason. Other Cub Master never even showed up, so I wasn't even really running against anyone! That just makes me feel like they didn't have any other choice.....:scratchch But I'll just have to do a good job and then there won't be any complaints.
I know there will be some traditionalists (both Dad's and Mom's) that will not be too thrilled when I get up on stage at the begiinning of the year (a girl?) - but hey - I got over needing everyone to like me a long time ago, right!!:Pokepoke:
Anyway - have about a million things to do, Day Camp is next week and I'm one of the Directors. DH is getting back one day next week, really late - so we're taking the next day off day camp to spend the day with him. His last real work (flying) day was today!
I'm also thrilled with my signatures - DH's countdown is diminishing fast, and I actually have 2 trip counters on there! Never thought that would happen!
Gopher - I'm trying to fast-forward time for us to Sunday - but it just isn't working!
I'm making coffee - anyone need some?

Congrats Kristy! You'll do a great job! I was hoping we were going to squeeze lunch in before your DH gets home, but I guess that's not happening if you have camp next week. Rozzie and I were trying to figure something out.
Nothing to report at our house. Spent half a day bathing suit shopping for the kids yesterday! DD3 was easy, DD6 picked something at the 4th store we looked at, and DD10 (ugh, it's happening already) finally picked something she could live with at Target last night after church!:woohoodan Thankfully, one of the little girls from church who is going into 8th grade showed up with her Mom. She is a tiny one like my oldest. She helped DD10 pick out a suit that was "cool" but that had a least a little coverage! Because you know if Mom suggests it..... "no Mom, I don't like that one, uuuwwwee, that's just ugly Mom"! I'm sooo looking forward to the teenage years............NOT! DD6 didn't even need a new suit, she got one in March, just before we went on our trip. She picked it out at the Disney Store. Sometime between March and May, the princesses are no longer "cool" so she doesn't want to wear the new suit now. I'm not sure what I'm peaved the most about, the waste of good money on another bathing suit, or the fact that my almost 7 year old doesn't think that the Disney princesses are hip enough to be seen wearing it!:sosad:

Erin - The loss of princesses being cool is tragic! My niece will be entering public shool next year as a 4th grader. She has been home schooled up to now, except for k-garten. I'm so afraid she'll lose some of the characters being cool thing before she even makes it to WDW! :(
Welcome Home Bavaria! passing one down....:ale:
Survived lunch at the nursing home with my "old" friend, though I must post two corrections. He won't be 95 until the 13th. He reminded me his 90th bday party was premature cause his wife miscounted. And he has not had 3 wives, He's had 4! Outlived them all! Anyway he's sharp as a tack, very witty and fun to spend time with.
Anyway, can't believe its June!
DD turns 12 this summer but we've bumped the traditional sleep-over pool party up to this Saturday night :scary: since most of the girls will be away at camp any given weekend.

howdy friends. Mr. Rozzie and I are off together today. He got up and "made" instant pancakes, you know, the stuff you just add water to, Healthy Choice sausage, with I can't believe it's not Butter SPRAYYYY, and sugar free syrup. Yum.:scary: Not exactly the Olivia's breakfast I remember a week ago today, but it filled the belly.
Then we put in our new "50th" Anniversary CD of the parks, and cleaned out the office, and finished Disneying the office with all our SW merchandise. I loved the CD, it has all my favorites, and goes land to land. Starts out on MainStreet, and makes it's way. Nothing like singing CoP to the top of your lungs to make your neighbors think you are finally cracking up. :woohoo: So now in the office we have a SW wall and shelf, and then the other 3 walls of course WDW. We framed a lot of our vacation pictures, been putting together a lot of collages, and finally got to see the finished product. We still left all the WDW collectibles in our china curio in the LR. I absolutely love it! Now by organizing, we have discovered more space for more souvie's! Can I say that we are really big on souvie's and colletibles. We find the more we go, the more we get. Kinda opposite from what I have read other people do. Good thing we get 10% off at WoD!
The most important discovery today is I finally found the picture of me being held by my Mom, and she "introducing" me to Mickey when I was a baby. I have looked for it for months, and she and I both had forgotten she had put it in a Mother/daughter journal she filled out for me several years ago. For Christmas, I think I am going to ask Mr. Rozzie to have created into a painting, like how you can do, from a picture sort of thing. Something nice that can go the fireplace ledge or something. Whata ya'll think? :scratchch
TW1, how cute of a man he sounds! I have a thing for little old men. WHOLESOME thing I might add, I just think they are precious. I love taking care of them, talking to them (when I have time, which is never) about their stories. I especially love the little homeless old men. We get them all cleaned up, wash their hair, shave them, get them in scrubs, and it is kinda like a fashion show at the Nurses Station to see them look so different. They are always so funny, and we giggle so much. One of the few bright spots of my job. That is so nice he has a friend like you TW1. I bet he looks so forward to your visits! :)
Hey Erin, you just gave me reason #4567 to stay a DINK, Teenagers!!!!! The thought alone of having someone to be responsible for that is bad as I was is enough to run away screaming!
You are such a great mom though, and you are teaching your kids about the correct path so young, I bet those years will be a lot easier than you think.

:scratchch
Very cool!! WHen you gonna' scan the pic and post it for us? ;)

Congrats Kristy. Enjoy the new Scout Master job.
Rozzie, I think a painting would be lovely.
Today marks my extra super busy time at work. The 1st-10th are always like that. So I wore my Mickey tropical print dress. Got it at disneyshopping.com a while back when they had a sale. Wish they sold stuff like this at WoD. At least if works sucks, I have on fun clothes. LOL
Today is my Nana's 80th birthday. We are going to eat supper with her tonight.
Ya'll have a great day.

Ditto! Even dh does that when he can! He had me pack more clothes for him when he was at the hosp with his dad and requested anything he had Disney. Got to have something to smile about sometimes! Good luck Ginger.
BTW - When you can't have Disney on the outside, Disney on teh inside clothing helps too! ;) (Although it seems much harder to find inside stuff these days.)

OK - so I just got a call from a "little birdie" telling me that the old Cub Master is quite hurt and not happy about the situation, and still hasn't spoken to the committee chair. Chairman is in Talahassee - and has been playing phone tag with him.. I'll be so glad when all this drama is over! I'm so not into it.
Teenagers..... ug. I have boys - so not as bad from what I'm hearing - but I'd really like to skip a few of those years..

Kristy- :whatababy What's he going to complain about... that you are a girl? Or the fact that he didn't even show for the voting.
Rozzie- Funny about your pic. I was going through a CD that my Dad gave me recently of old family pictures. He always took slides, so he put them all on a CD for me and my sister. It has been so fun looking at them. I found some cool old pictures of Fort Wilderness that had the train and the truck that used to come around and sell supplies. There's even a shot of the family with Dumbo.(except for you can only see about half of my head! thanks Dad!) Any way, regarding your painting... there is a guy down at the Grand Hotel that does chalk. He does an awesome job, and is pretty reasonable. He did one of my good friend in Birmingham in her wedding dress. Her DH wanted it, and the guy was able to do this huge drawing all off a wallet size wedding photo (he did ask her to come by so he could look at her face in more detail). I've also seen one that he did of DD6 best friend. Her Mom had it done at Easter a couple of years ago when she was going through Chemo. She had very little hair at the time, but he was able to draw her in her Easter Dress and add in some real short hair in the drawing. It is adorable. I think both were done for less than $200, and he does them pretty quickly. Anyway just thought I'd mention it in case you were interested.
The sad news of the day for me...... we washed the car a little while ago. While washing the front bumper I noticed that the love bugs have eaten the paint off my Disney license plate!!:crymeariv I hate those little critters! I know that all God's creatures have a purpose, but I haven't figured out theirs yet! Anyway, I'll have to wait until Dec/Jan. to purchase another one, or be forced to shop on Ebay for one. What a dilema!

Well today had more than nothing to it.
I am thinking of buying a condo in Puerto Vallarta. It's beachfront, has these awesome panoramic views and, up until recently were wayyyyy underpriced.
But then along comes CB and the prices TRIPLE. GASP. So I spent yesterday digging up the dirt on these units (there is always dirt). And I asked if I could make an offer on an 'unremodeled unit' as the remodels suck...and gasp, they said yes. And then I got to drawing up what I could do with the property. (it is on the 17th floor, very small, but then so am I). That's when it gets dangerous...when I start designing!
I also noticed that my creek was running (previously it has been snow melt, but now they have opened the gate and it is really running) I of course love the sound, so I decided to open the bottom windows (of a huge picture curved top window) in my living room to let the sound in. AHHHHHH. But what was all that DIRT caking up the window? And when I knocked it off, what were those little green worms doing? Ewwwwwwww. I think it is wasps or killer bees. Both of them visited with me whilst I was scraping their babies off the window sill and frames. That was an amazing amount of 'dirt' homes that they built for the cocoons. So if you don't hear from me.....I may be a victim of mamabees who think I'm a baby killer.
Then, I inadvertently made an offer on a timeshare. I actually think it will be accepted. And that's ok, as its more points at a place that I like a lot.
Other than that, I'm not doing what I'm suppposed to be doing, which is somewhat the intent of the Nothing Thread anyway.
Sounds like we are all coming out of our winter/sick/angry/cavity searchin (or is that soul searching) doldrums. GOOD.
On with the show!

Teenagers, harumph!!!! I have two currently - DS16 and DS13:scary: :faint:
The latest crazy stunt was Tuesday night. Mind you, I have two very good kids, imo. DS16 was at work and was not due home till after my bedtime (now that it is summer). So, he's leaving work close to 10:30 and he realizes that his buddy called and wants him to come spend the night...and well, he doesn't want to wake me to ask...so he calls his thirteen year old brother and they decide that DS13 will just write me a note about it!!!!???? Can you believe it???
I told him the next day that he better have made plans and asked permission all before my bedtime in the future. He started yes-mam'ing me like crazy that day! Sometimes it seems like all their good sense drains out in the teenage years!!!:headbrick :idontgeti
Anyway, congrats to Kristy for your single digit wait for DH (be sure to thank him from me for being military and protecting my freedom! I was a military brat and my dad was Air Force :lovestruc ) Also, congrats on the Cubmaster position. I hate that kind of drama too; he sounds kinda babyish to me... Hey, it's the wayward j. You remember me, right? Pop into the nothing thread like once a week? Oh yeah, HER... you say.
Okay, here's the sad thing. I read the nothing thread. I enjoy the nothing thread (especially the mickey underwear, TW1. Where can I get me a pair of those?!?!). And yet, most days I think, I don't even have anything to report on a nothing thread. So there it is. There you have it. I'll try to think of more nothing, but really, can you think of more nothing? Let's all get philosophilcal for a moment...
Okay, done now.
Welcome soozay! I have to say, you have one of the happiest avatars I've seen - makes me smile because you guys look like you're having so much fun. And that's a skill - I can't self-take a picture to save my life!
Speaking of pictures, if you all can tell me SLOWLY how to post them, I will post pics of my dd's new room. I finished it last week, just in time for her birthday, and it came out so well - I want to show off the mural of Peter, Wendy, Michael, and John flying out the window!
Other than that, we're just gardening a LOT, doing all the end of the year madness at my kids' schools, at play rehearsal a LOT because my show opens in two weeks, and working on more stupid, boring paperwork to launch the CD (no really, j, how do you feel about that?)
You go Kristy!
And CB, I love the inadvertant buying of a timeshare!!! How does that happen exactly? "Sorry, I don't know how it happened! All the sudden these mobsters with guns dragged me into the alley and told me if I didn't buy more points now..."
Happy Friday everyone!

Burrow full of excitement and disdain this a.m..... Spent all night looking for a ticket to LegoLand that I had promised 2 months ago to pass on to a friend. I knew where I put it... but it wasn't there, and forthe life of me, could NOT find it. Finally collapsed in a heap of frustration and tears at midnight... and remembered that I GAVE HER THE TICKET ALREADY. How pathetic is that? Woke up extra early to put finishing touches on teacher gifts. I am a firm believer in rewarding them well! THe only thing I still needed was a gift cert to this great local bakery. I had tried to get the certs earlier in the week, but they had closed at 3 pm. Not exactly conducive for this working class critter. So I called yesterday and decided I would take the kids this a.m. , treat them to a fresh bagel, and get my certs (and a good cafe mocha for self!)
It was not to be.
Got kids up - check. Got over to bakery - check. Got bagels - check. BUt 25 minutes later, and they hadn't even begun to make the kids' hot cocoa or my mocha, I was still agrguing over the bill (in which I was charged for SEVEN cocoas! Who do they think I am, Snow WHite?!?) and the guy getting the gift certs was cutting them out by hand! On the one hand, I was super ticked - my dd missed the bus, so I had to drive her to school, and my kids went cocoa-less and made do with lemonade. ANd I had no coffee! WAHHH! ON the other hand, I reallllly feel for the place - the fact they have cut their hrs to a 3 pm closing is not a good sign. A Panera Bread moved in down the road, in a more prime though pricier location, and I think it's sucki8ng this place bone-dry. I won't miss the treatment I got today, but I would miss their breads and bagels - best in town, bar none, way better than Panera's. (Well - except for maybe the Cinnamon crunch. But that's the LAAST thing this gopher needs anyway!)
So I hustled into office today, nailed down a few to-dos, and am taking the day off. Headed to kids' school to watch awards day, then out for pizza and a movie. I had anticipated needing today off to get the huge dent in my car looked at - but get this, the earliest the insurance folks can see me is June 13th! Is that ridiculous or what?!? BIL was probably right - just get an estimate and let my mom pay out of pocket. WOuld have been faster, and who knows how this will affect her insurance in the long run. Oh well. Live and learn.
Well, gotta go live a little - done enough learnin' for a day! BYE! (Hey, is there a chat tonight?!?)
Passing one down the Gopher hole this morning..:ale:

Well something unthinkable has happened in our house the other night.....DH wanted to buy more points...and I said no! I don't know what happened :jawdroppi Usually, I'm the one drooling over more points and he gives me "the look". But the other night, he came to me and said why don't we sell some of our Disney stock and we can buy 50 more points! After checking for alien invaders, I thought about it for a minute and said No, I don't wanna sell my Disney stock :crymeariv (Because of course he was planning on selling the stock that is just my name that I got in college!) Then I quickly added, "besides...we have to wait for CRV to go on sale first!" :fresh: I can still dream about it.

LOL at the disney underpants. I've actually seen them for grownups at Kohls, I think. :)
We don't have uniforms at work. And can pretty much wear whatever we want. We do have a few rules to adhere too. So the dress was within the rules. I usually try to wear a dress or skirt. If I had a "nice" fitted t-shirt with a tiny disney logo, I could probably get away with it. I wish they made more nicer clothes, as I would buy them. I know they have polo shirt, but I don't really like wearing polo shirts.
Gopher, glad you can still drive you van. Imagine being car-less for 2 or 3 weeks. Have fun at the awards and movies.
Not sure what we are going to do this weekend. Probably some more outside work around the house. I need to repaint a few spots on the deck furniture.

Helloooooooo people!!!
Welcome soozaay!!! You seem like a great "nothing" person to me :) When you get a chance, tell us a little bit about yourself. We would love to know more.
Funnel Cake and Yuengling! I love it (I also loved tha Bavaria saw a Yeungling sign and though of us....cementing membership in the "nothing clan" for sure!!! Way to go Bavaria and welcome back!
TW1 - do you OWN a pair of those undies? and...do you KNOW how much trouble I would be in if our IT people did any sort of tracking of what I searched for :jawdroppi Lets just say that DVC Member will get you an interesting site if you aren't careful!!!
CB - good luck with the potential condo deals and with getting rid of your flying friends. My dad's garage is covered with those dirt cocoons, but I think they are dirt dobbers, not wasps or bees thank goodness!
J - good to see you and to know you are still checking out the nothing thread! As long as people are hovering, its all good! That way you will know when we are throwing AFMom a party for DH's return and all sorts of other nice things we need to celebrate! We have had such a hard time lately for us all it seems....*group hug* hopefully the summer months will bring us all some happiness!
Gopherit, if your mother can afford it, I would let her pay for the damage as a claim on your insurance right when your oldest gopherettes are coming of driving age will not be a good thing! IT would be hard as heck for me to give my parents a quote though, so I can understand!
ANyone have big plans for the weekend? Hubby just called and has finished with "the big snip" and it seems all is well. Ok - so it CRACKS ME UP that they give men valium BEFORE they go in to have this done. Do women get valium BEFORE we check into the hospital to give birth???? ummmm such babies! lol Anyway, we wont be doing much at home this weekend. The boys are at my father and his wife's house at the lake, so just hubby, PJ and I will be home with hubby recooping. I just want one long nap and I don't care what we do for the rest of the weekend!
Rozzie - do you care if I post the pictures of you with PJ and the boys? they both came out very good :) and I wanted to share them if you didn't mind.

TW, as any self respecting funnel cake lover knows, the cake MUST be covered in strawberries and whipped creme. FOR SHAME!
Kristy....you have been so upbeat and brave while your DH has been gone! I know I could never do that, so I greatly admire you! Hope that we won't hear TOO FAST when he gets home...methinks there should be a great deal of RnR (in this case Rock n Rolling) of the 2 person kind going on! We'll understand if we don't hear a thing for a few days!
Stimpy...you have surived basic addonitus, but you might catch the mutated version called......inadvertantaddonitis:ROTFL:
Lllovell...not sure about you, but I bet hubby takes it easy this weekend. If you think men can be babies about these things, wait until you actually see the little nip/tuck/stitch. I remember that my words were conforting and solicitious, but inside I was thinking: YOU BABY!
Lllovell...tell me more about these doopers. I have no idea what it was..just these little green wiggly grubs about a 1/2" long and all this caked DIRT. I had to chase 2 wasps , 1 mosquito and 2 bees from inside the window back outside...hate to kill or injure them, but the only thing handy was a broom...I think all but one made it to freedom. What are doopers and can they live at 9300 feet?????
Gopherit: I don't know, seems like your mom might need to learn a lesson or two. I say just give her the estimate and let her get it fixed. On a more compassionate note, sometimes as we age we actually have chemical brain changes that cause symptoms like your mom's need to do things NOW. I wonder if you might not mention this to her doctor or at least talk to her about it? (I know that's hard tho)
J....even if you lurk, it's always great to hear from you. We know now busy you are!
Roz...tell lllovell YES
Suzie...I agree, you're smiley face in your avatar lights up a room!
And yes, it does seem that we are all in need of a quieter, calmer, summer.

Thanks for the great welcome!!
I'm glad that you like my avatar! We've become addicted to taking self portraits! It's driving our family & friends nuts! They are always explaining it to others that offer to take our photo when they see us taking our own..."it's something they do ". We've became better at it when we bought a digital camera....we can check to make sure the photo came out ok and not have to wait for film processing. The earlier ones with film were a little scary...a lot of noses & chins or just the top of our heads! LOL!
Now...for funnel cake.....it's low-carb, right?!?! Then, I'll have 2!!! Along with my low-carb margarita & Dole Whip!!
Here's a little info on me....
I'm 39 (so is DH), will be 40 next year and are planning a WDW 40th celebration....no better way to bring in the 40's! I swear, I don't know where the time went...I was just 18 yesterday!!! (still 18 at heart though!)
We live in south NJ (not as south as Nono) near the shore. I'm originally from the Chicagoland area, lived in Atlanta for about 3 years with DH before moving to NJ (where Harry is originally from).
We are DINKS, but love kids....just not for us. We have so many nieces, nephews and Godchildren...that's plenty for us!
The one thing that friends don't understand about us....we rent our home in NJ, but we bought a home in SSR!!! What's the problem?!? We have our priorities straight!!
Ok....I guess I should get back to work (since that's where I am right now :crymeariv ).
You guys are the best! Glad we met!!!

of course lllovell you can post! :jumpingbe
CB--you just crack me up! So question, I am a little slow, was the condo in PV a timeshare, or did you buy a condo in PV and also a timeshare somewhere else?? And the flying critter thing, yikes, what scares me is termites. My next door neighbors lost a wall a month ago to those evil things. Dirtdobblers are disgusting. Maybe you should start dating a extermintor person? Just kidding, but then again, it would solve the problem, and get some free meals while your at it.....:upsidedow
lllovell, send our condolences and get well wishes to DH. I'm sorry, but men are such babies!! OMG, the stories. Usually the story always ends with the wife storming out of the hospital room, and the Mother coodling the poor striken man. I especially love it when the mother starts cutting her grown adult man son's meat. I'm like...what the????? :grrrrr:

Laura....Valium???? My DH had no valium...that I know of anyway :scratchch Maybe that's why he was such a baby afterwards LOL Heck I could have used a Valium or two for putting up with him  I am glad everything went well and he heals quickly :goodvibes
Sooozay, a day or two with my children and you'll definately be convinced that DINK is the way to go! Just ask Rozzie who's met my kids :hammer: Low carb funnel cake....hmmm interesting concept! I like the sound of that...but does that mean no powdered sugar on top?
Our add-on will have to wait....I'm just too stuck on waiting to see if the Contemporary rumors come through. We just did an add-on about 9 months ago. Plus it's may DISNEY stock I'd have to get rid of! :scary: Any other stock and I ma have gone for it!

Stimpy, I loved your trip reports!! Glad that you DS had such a great SWW.... and believe me, I'd take your DD on any of my flights over the misbehaving adults. At least she doesn't know better at her age...... vs the adults who really should know better than to behave as they do. (Flying home on Memorial Day through Chicago with bad weather really made me a little cranky about airline travel, and it wasn't a screaming child who made me cranky - just a lot of misbehaving adults!)

This is why a married a technical geek, aka, technical genius.
BTW, Bavaria, is that your actual car, or just one like it? Because I'm telling you now that if it's not your actual car, you should acquire it. It looks like what you should be driving.
Thanks Rozzie, lllovell, CB and everybody else for inviting me to lurk and post at will. Sometimes, you all are so interesting, by the time I finish reading, I have nothing to type! And the CD's are a really long story. Suffice it to say, I'm almost done with all the things I didn't do, they're going really well for what I have done, and I'm hoping for better things when we can get on with it. But the more I know about the industry, the more I go hide in my garden. The music I love - it's everything else that stresses me out, and I'm realizing that the music is a very, very small part of it.
Kristy, I think it's amazing that you're still going to go do the camp thing and not just drop the whole world when your dh gets home. You go girl, and when he gets here, don't waste your time here! Or, not much of it, anyway;) .
BTW, I've been meaning to ask for a long time - do the smileys move for you all too? Like, the wink is on the main page one day, and then it's only in the more section and they all move so I can never remember where they are? Or is Kim just messing with me?

It's not just you. They move for me too. Don't know why. :doublejum
I have 1000000 things to do here at work. And I don't feel like doing anything! It's raining and I'm just surfing the internet looking for things to spend $$$ on (and it's $$$ that I don't have, guess I'm window shopping). :jumpingbe

CB - Dirt Dobbers (sorry if I typoed before ) look a LOT like wasps, but they dont sting. They build tube shapped houses together like little condos (wonder if they are timeshares  ) made from mud with a hole at the bottom for a door. The cocoons are usually about 3 inches long and maybe 1/2 to 3/4 inch wide (but there will be several together over time). I didn't know they could do perm. damage like Rozzie mentioned though! As far as I knew, other than making little "houses" all over the place, I thought they were harmless since they don't sting. Maybe we better google these little guys!
Rozzie - I will get them posted before I leave today :) :jumpingbe Thanks!
hahaha Bavaria on the speeding ticket - did you get out and push to get it going fast enough? :upsidedow (I am sure it has enough power - just teasing!)
Stimpy - not only did hubby get Valium (two no less), they also gave him a script for 20 percocet!!! I wasn't going to get them filled, but I am not home with him today and decided if he really did end up in pain, boy would I feel like a terrible person! (Luckily - with insurance, both scripts were $1.41 - yep - no typo...$1.41 ....so no real reason NOT to get them filled). Apparently he was surprised at how "simple" it was so maybe doctors need to give more actual details about the proceedure and it would take away the need for Valium......naaaaaahhhh

OK, you're almost making me feel bad for my DH ...no real pain killers, certainly no Percocet! Only extra strength tylenol and ice. But then, he was probably offered a prescription but he's a "real he-man" and probably thought he wouldn't need them. :lmbo: And I say almost feel bad b/c I had two very difficult, extremely painful labor and deliveries...I would have changed places with him in a second ;)
And yes the "evil" smilies are messing with us! It never fails, the one I'm looking for always disappears when I need it! It's a smilie conspiracy.:holymoly:

ooooh no!! I'm a Volkswagen girl, thank you very much! Currently on VW #5. The 'Ente' (what Germans call a Citroen 2CV) belonged to my neighbour and I would borrow it in a pinch. Hers was the same bright green but with 'Entes' (ducks) on it, not daisys!
For those of you who have never had the pleasure of driving one, the gear shift is a giant ball in the dashboard, the windows 'open' by flipping up the bottom half and having a magnet catch the frame, and the roof peels back like a sardine can lid. :scary:
Ginger, sounds like you are getting as much work done today as I am!!

Hey Ginger! I knew I missed someone in my previosu list!!!
Laura - Love the beautifu women in your pics! ;) The boys are adorable as always too! Can't believe how much PJ looks like Charlie!
Smilies - This geek thinks that the ones that are used most move to the top..That's my best guess.
Strawberrie & WHIpped cream is for waffles, not funnel cakes. Silly, CB! ;)
Love that car Bavaria (the one with the flowers)!
I have breakfast with friends tomorrow morning and then I'm free for the weekend!!!! How cool is that????

Oh my God, lllovell...PJ looks exactly like you! And she is beautiful, so any way you look at it, it's a compliment!
Roz....you are too cute and too young to hang out with a old parrothead like me, but you are welcome to any day!!!
Bavaria...I LOVE that car. A VW was my second car and I learned how to rebuild engines (3 VW engines) because of it. (No, tell the truth CB, it was really because I didn't mind the oil and I blew a few engines in the process.)
THis thread moves way too fast. But I came back so that I could copy/paste the photobucket play by play directions. Jiggerj taught me how originally, but I've found if I don't practice it often enough, I forget how to do it.

Photobucket instrucitons - I don't know if they're quite as detailed as this, but after I finished those, I remebered that I put instruciton on teh Tech Support board a while ago. SO, you can look there if you forget again.
OK, here's some real Friday afternoon Nothing. My co-worker looks out my window and says,"Look a tthose clouds. They're so pretty and fluffy." She was right, of course. But you know what they look like to me? The DCL commercial where you see Mickey in the clouds. Perhaps I should take a road trip until I find that Mickey!

She and Charlie look sooooo much alike, but she has Richard's nose (you can really see it in other pictures when the two of them are side by side). They also do look just like I did as a child, which makes my step-father so very happy. He sees my mother when he looks at PJ and he loves holding her and gets her now when he gets the boys from school on Wed nights for ba-sket-ti night at his house. This is pretty amazing for a man that didn't change a diaper until his grandchildren came along and now offers to do it. Bless his soul. Anything to make him happier makes me happy. He is still a lost pup without my mom but the kids help SOOOO much. He is just too young to be this sad for the rest of his life. (he is only 56)
I have never had one of those drinks nono, but I hear from you ladies that they are wonderful - so shoot one down my way!!! Variety is the spice of life I hear.
