Gopherit - great new pic and Avatar! The picture is so cute!
Thanks - FINALLY got around to the avatar thingy, and the pic is from our trip to Disney's HHI resort, of course. It was a totally impromptu shot - I lost sight of ds9 as we exited Murgie's den after some lemonade and cookies one day, and was calling for him. My other two kids started yelling, "He's in the doghouse!" I assumed they meant he was in trouble! (I often use the phrase someone is "in the doghouse" when I'm displeased with them... I used to say this about things their dad did until one of my kids began crying, saying, "Don't make daddy go in the doghouse! We don't even have a DOG!!!!") Anyway - I finally noticed DS9 was in fact IN THE DOGHOUSE, and the other two, standing on either side, pointing him out - well, so I took the shot. THe more impromptu shot, regrettably, didn't focus well - this one looks a bit more cheese, but is still good!
I need to take photo lessons from my DS9. I gave him my old digital camera, which he proudly took to Bristol for the races. When he came home, he said, "Oh, I took about a hundred pictures..." I thought he was just being a typical kid (like, the teacher gave us a MILLION things to do today, etc.) Nope. I put his photo card in my reader, and spent nearly an hour going through his shots, DH found me in the computer room, both in awe and dying of laughter at the same time. Understand that every year, DH takes a camera to Brostol and every year, I get three photos - two of which are blurry, and the other is clear ... but from a distance of 3 miles away. No people in the shots, nothing. DS9 goes to the race and OMG, the great shots he took! He was really playing around with the zoom (which explains the hilarity of it - he had extreme close-ups of the people in front of him, some guy's watch, his dad giving him a CLASSIC "What are you doing?!?!" look.... some shots he took of himself with various facial expressions... too funny!) But some of thsoe shots he took were EXCELLENT! Makes me wish I still had that camera, LOL, because I swear he got more out of those 3 little megapixels than I ever did, or have gotten from our 5 MP camera since! He's got the touch. (But thank goodness for digital... I cn't imagine the photo-developing bill we'd ring up with a shutterbug like him using film, LOL!)
CRAZY night here... DH worked all morning, now he's working all night. I'm here with the kiddos, plus DS9's school bud is spending the night. I'm cooking all night for a church bake sale, so it's not like I'd be sleeping, but these kids are WEARING ME OUT! Ooops, I hear mayhem in the family room .... better go protect my domain from destruction!
LATER!

Bavaria - hope your dad is ok....... When is the next time you'll be out his way? Do you live far away from them?
Took tons of video yesterday of the Easter party, and got some of Kyle's swim team (dad wants to see what he's doing...)
It's soooooo light (lighter than my regular camera) that it will be a cinch taking into the parks. My old video camera that broke a while back wiehged about a ton, and I never wanted to take it to the parks. I'm already the pack mule of the family - why add more weight?!?!?
It'ss 11am and I haven't gotten out of my jammies yet. Shame on me.... First relaxing morning I've had in ages!
Going to go see Ice Age 2 today - anyone seen it yet? Kids are very excited.
Gopherit - my DS 8 has a little digital camera but his pics leave somethig to be desired still. I'm hoping he firgures out what to actually take pictures of soon! That;s why we got him the digital - we couldn't keep up with film and developing for him.
Hope everyone has a nice Sunday!
Edited to Add- My countdown says 2 months today!!!! 1 Month down - 2 to go!!!!!

kristi, we thought Ice Age 2 was cute and fun, not as good as the first one, but still worth seeing. I loved the possums.
Thanks for asking about Mom, all you guys. They have now said that she has a hernia and a mild case of diverticulitis. She has had little sleep since Thursday. She seems in good spirits, but I still worry. She has spent more time in hospitals and rehabs than she has been out. I am worried about her attitude and outlook. They actually have her in the heart wing and hooked up to all the monitors and stuff. No idea when she might go home. They have not mentioned surgery for the hernia, so I hope that is not even a possibility.
So, now on to the latest. While hubby and I were doing our "mall walking" I get a phone call that that my son is heading to the emergency room because he has been really sick all night and hurts and he suspects food poisoning. This is the same child that you can grab his skin and twist it and he never feels pain. So, when he tells me he is hurting, I know he really hurts. Turns out he does have mild food poisoning. They gave him fluids and nausea stuff and stuff for the other end and kept him about 5 horus and sent him on his way. So, the day was spent with him in the same emergency room that Mom was in last January.
Son is going to be fine, Mom is going to be fine, and I need a good long nap.
Hope everyone else is having a good weekend.

wowser Rwe! Hope your mom and son are OK! goodness gracious!!!!:worried:
well I am back from my SIL's baby shower. Remember she and I can't stand each other. Always makes for a enjoyable afternoon. We have learned to be cordial and nod to each other, big break through. She was trashing my dad sitting there with everybody, and I know he is a jerk, just one of those things where you want to be the only one to trash your parents. Oh, and to make my afternoon even funnier, there was one of those "know it all" Disney people, that thinks she knows everything there is to know, because you know, they have been there 3x. I have learned to just nod my head and smile. Not even worth the energy to get into conversations with these type of people.
Well I think the book that Rwe suggested is a great idea. Proceeds go to the Nothing Trip Fund. (NTF, inc.) A working title, hum,......how bout' "I can't make this crap up!"
hope your dad is doing better Bavaria.:flowerfor

Rozzie, I hear you on the Disney know it alls!!! I know a few who go on about how we must be crazy to be fans (becuase they went one time at peak season with no dining reservations, no advance planning, and no advance research) They are the ones who get mad at people who use the fastpass line!

rwe - Glad it sounds liek your mom is doing better. Sounds like a hiatel (sp?) hernia? Hopefully tehy can get it to heal with meds. Surgery is a last resort and not fun.
Bavaria - Hope your dad is ok! Sounds like they at least know what's wrong with him now. Hopefully, that means they can fix it!
OK, I hate to bring on another one, but I had a 5:15 am call this morning from MIL. SHe's been in the ER with FIL since last night. They could not figure out what was wrong, extreme pain in his legs and they were splotchy. Thought it might be kidneys, which they have been checking lately. Last update was they think it's shingles or a bacterial infection. Shingles fits, as he has dormant myeloma and that tends to go with. Still not sure, though. The hospitals where they are suck. Seriously. If you could send prayers and good thougths fo rhim and the doctors so they can figure it out, I'd appreciate it.
Happy Monday.
Can someone share some good news? Looksl ike we could use it!

Got a phone call from Mom this morning. They were going to possibly let her go home today, but her blood pressure is 184/84, and she is having shortness of breath and can't keep food down, so they are putting her on a liquid diet, which she should have been on in t he first place.
Son is out of the ER and is resting comfortably.
One cute thing. We got new cell phones. I wanted a Sony Ericsson and hubby and son wanted the Motorola Razr. They won. I was telling Mom about it and she was telling one of her male nurses about it. He said that he had one and showed it to her, now she wants one. Can't you see my 86 year-old Mom with a Razr. :bitemylip When she told me she had seen one, I asked her what she thought and she said "I think it looks real slick and I think I want one."

That is cute. I recall, when I was 13, running had become the "in" thing, and my brother and I both were long distance runners. The running shoes were just starting to come onto the scene, like the Nike "waffle" sole, and the new lighter materials (today, they would probably feel like bricks, but to us then, they were a miracle of science!) ANYWAY - I will NEVER forget my brother putting his brand new Nikes on our 86 yr old grandmother (she was a dress-and-apron-and-loafers sort of depression-era grannie). She started giggling, we all started laughing, as she danced around with his obnoxiously bright Nikes on her feet. She admitted that they felt WONDERFUL... but alas, we couldn't get her to trade in her wedge-heeled leather plain janes for 'em.
I say if your mom is willing to embrace technology, more power to her! ;)
I am supposed to get a new cell for mom's day this year. I don't need bells or whistles... just a phone that doesn't crap out on me with no notice. My current phone has all the coverage of trying to spread frozen peanut butter on soggy bread.... (and NO, I CANNOT hear you now! )

OK, FIL has been in surgery for about an hour now. They found a mass on his leg that is flesh-eating bacteria. Yikes!!! I remeber hearing about it a few years ago, but didn't realize it was still around. Quick research tells me that it's the strep bacteria, but it attacks your body this way if your immune system's down. Yup, that would be him and SIL hasd strep throat last week, so it's around. According to the doc's, if they cannot get it all, they will have to take his leg. I know it would shatter anyone, but for him, it would be thoroughly devastating. I don't think we'll knwo if they get it all until Wednesay, as they will leave it open until then. The docs were hopeful, though because of its location. Any spare prayers or pixie dust would be greatly appreciated.

That's scary - I'll be praying for him! Hopefully they caught it early enough that it won't be a problem.
My good friend is off to Atlanta to pick up the baby they adopted from Ethiopia! I'm so excited for them - they've been dealing wiht all of this for over a year now - and have had the baby assigned to them - pictures and everything - since January when he was 8 weeks old. He's now about 5 months old - so they are anxious to get him.
I get to meet the little guy tomorrow!

From children with tonsil issues to father in laws with yuckie leg issues....I am sending all of you pixie dust and keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
Jnrrt - I am so sorry I didnt get to meet you. I feel like you kept trying to track me down and I couldn't seem to get my act together enough to be anywhere at a specific time. The boys had to walk almost the whole time on this trip, so things were pretty difficult for them. They are used to riding at WDW (at my insistence and this trip proves I am right about tired children, etc). I hope you and Shan had a GREAT time and that one day our paths will cross at the world again!
I missed all of you terribly. I was tempted to check in via my palm phone thingie - but I just never really had time to let the pages load (it is pretty slow). Didn't take the lap top on purpose and I am glad I didn't. I would have been tempted to check in.

Well it sounds like we are off to a not so good Monday..
Carrie- I hope your FIL's surgery is successful, what an awful problem to have.
RWE- Hope you mom is improving.
Just got done picking DD6 up at school. The office called to tell me she wasn't feeling well. Incidently DD's best buddy, went home early today with a tummy bug. She came home and laid on the couch for about 5 min. and then asked for a sandwich. I gave her one and then she promptly went upstairs to "play". I think she was having a case of "I don't want to be at school today!"
Addison had her appointment with the ENT today. He looked her over, and said she looks like a good surgical candidate. We are all scheduled for a tonsilectomy on the 26th of this month. I think he is going to take out her adnoids too. Since she is the youngest patient, we get to go first, which is a good thing since she won't be able to eat or drink. I'm not looking forward to it, but I'm hoping she will be so much healthier when it's over.
Welcome back lllovell and jnrrt- can't wait to hear all about your trips!

FIL is out of surgery. They took 1/4 to 1/2 of his quad. Have not hear whether they think they got it all or not. He cannot take pain killers, so they are leaving him under until Wednesday. My MIL is a basket case, but it really is for the best. So, please keep him (and her) in your thoughts. Let's hope Wednesday they'll declare that they got it all.
Erin - I'll be thinking of your dd. Let's hope this does the trick!

OMG Carrie! Did FIL have necrotizing fascilitas? Misspelled, but it is a flesh eating bacteria that I have only seen once close up in person. (which was enough to last a lifetime) The good news is that he is out of surgery, and it did not require a lot of grafting. From what you say about how much they cut, sounds like they did a great job in catching it in time. Kudos to the medical team. It spreads very fast and if this is what he has, than he will be very thankful to catch it in his quad. <<hugs>> to him, and to you. Hang in there Carrie! Better days are ahead! Will keep him in my prayers. and your DH too....
Rwe, even though her BP might be less than ideal, glad your mom is doing ok, and Bavaria, your dad too.
Sounds like it is time we sit all our parents down with a firm talking to, no more falling apart! Not allowed! Rozzie - I believe that it is Necrotizing Faciitis. (I can only spell it because the WebMD info is on my desk.)
OK, well, the docs were very happy about catching it early. DH told me they took half teh quad eyesterday. My rbain couldn't comprehend that, I must have miisheard. The surgeon last night said most. The bad news? They typically need to go in 3 more times. Theyare saying anothe rsurgery tomorrow for sure and likely one more on Friday. My MIL has not slept or eaten since SUnday morning and can't figure out why she's tired and dizzy. DH is going to try really harder to get her to breakfast and home to sleep when his sister comes in. he had the night shift. FIL will likely be mostly under until Friday, provided that's his last surgery. It's going to be a long week. The good news is that they're pretty sure he'll keep his leg. He'll likely have a limp and be a bit disformed, but I think as long as he can walk, he'll be able to deal with it. He has no clue what has happened yet, though. I hope he can put things inperspective when he finds out.
We really need our parents to stop falling apart! Rozzie - I'll add your mom to my prayer list. It's gettign pretty long, but as I am having a worse than normal time concentrating at work, I've got plenty of time. ;)

Yes, Laura, it was a tad chilly at times in HHI, looks like spring missed us by a week. The day we left it was supposed to be clear and in the upper 70's, a good 10 degrees warmer and much sunnier than our week. Glad you had a fab time and remember those ice cream pounds are part of our dues, so unavoidable for the next 50 years. Laura, I'm sorry we missed you too! Hopefully we'll cross paths on another trip. I did get to meet Shan and her family for a bit at Prime Time, and that was so fun. Her girls had spent the morning at BibbidyBobbity Boutique and they were adorable.

jnrrt - Yes it is very rare. It's the regular strep, but if you're overly run down or have immune issues (from cancer or other things) it hits you this way instead of strep throat. It's still rare even when you have teh contributing factors. My FIL has pneumonia, which he must have had for a while plus he has a ;dormant-as-of-last week form of cancer that effects your immune system. So, our guess is that he picked it up in the hospital when my SIL was in for a miscarriage 2 weeks ago. (Yes, it's been a bad run in their family lately.) She picked up a nasty infection too, so that's our guess.
OK, I need some happy thoughts before I turn the noon chat into a noon cry.
My parents will be home Saturday and I should get to see them and my niece and nephews Sunday! I cannot wait! :jumpingbe I'll think about the trip I'm going to take if I ever have points again where I'll take my niece to meet Minnie and my nephews to meet Buzz, Woody adn Jessie. :D

Carrie, hope today is a better day for you. There is no telling where he picked the wicked bug up. It lives everywhere. We had two patients with it in 2 years. That is how rare it is. One got it from hitting the pavement in a car accident. (the bug loves to live on cement) and the other got it from working out in the yard. Now I remember a third case, he got it from a on the site job injury. Or at least this was thought to be sources. You know how research is. The last research I read is that it is more prevalent in salt filled air for unexplainable reasons. That is why we down here on the coast we have to really be on the lookout for it. Are they doing HBO therapy on him? (hyperbaric oxygen chamber) Give him our best. :flowerfor He is a very very lucky man. Our prayers are with him, you, and your whole family.

him: "yes, my dog bite my daughter (13 mth old?) and I have to leave and get rid of it..."
okay folks you know where this conversation is going! :zipit:
Me: did it break the skin?
Him:"no, no nothing like that, but I have to leave NOW!"
me: your getting rid of the dog?
Him: manager screaming--"yes, it bite my kid"
me: take it to a no kill shelter :sosad:
sorry, folks, I am not heartless. Really. But he has to leave the restaurant to take the dog NOW? He can't take the dog tomorrow, and put it up in a bathroom unitl then? I was really short. He was really really short. Oh well, just call me Rozzie Heinz today.
I know petty considering all going on on the thread. Just stuff like this just IRKS me to no extent. Thanks for letting me vent............

Rozzie - No wonder you are thinking about shelters right now. Yes, this dog should probably not stay in teh home. However, have they looked at what may have caused this? Did they pay attention to what type of dog tehy were getting and if it dealt well with kids? People just do not think sometimes. My St. bernanrd was abandoned after this original owbner, who lived in an apartment could no longer deal with him. Duh!!!!
MIL is having a rough time. She is usually a very strong person, but I think this is the straw that broke the camel's back. Plus, teh doc came in with a "They kidneys are shutting down. If he doesn't get dialysis by tomorrow, they will shut down." Oh, that went over well. Luckily, teh regular doc spent 1.5 hours going over all of their questions today and put htings in perspective, after teh damage was done of course.
He's not in a hyperoxygenated area, just regular ICU as far as I can tell. Sounds like he's getting pretty good care, though. It's so handy having my own personal nurse. ;) Thanks Rozzie!

oh Carrie, the bedside manner of some doctors is horrible! Your poor MIL, no wonder she fell to pieces. Just makes me want to slap the doc upside the head. The delivery of news is vital, but needs to be delievered in a respectful compassionate way.
HBO therapy is a hyperoxygenated chamber he may do when he is done with surgery. It is like a capsule, and it oxygenates the tissue, like in a incredible way, to feed the tissue vital components to heal, as without oxygen, tissue dies. I am not a doctor (thank god for that), and by no means am I saying he needs it. I saw extreme NF cases, and maybe it is not indicated in his case. I am glad he is in ICU and not on a floor right now. He can get the special care and attention he needs. Sounds like he is in great hands. You can PM me anytime. I don't have all the answers, but I make a good venting board, LOL. continued hugs and prayers for all your loved ones.
Yeah the dog thing irked me. I realize the dog should be better out of the home, especially if they hate it now. Poor little guy. He was probably being pestered by this kid, and now he is losing the only home he has ever known. I would take him, but my border would have a meltdown for sure. She is a jealous little thing. I always ask people "if your kid bite the dog, would you get rid of the kid?" that goes over really well, LOL. thanks for understanding. I think some people think I am anti-kid. I am not, just anti-notsmartdogowners.:hammer:
hang in there Carrie. We are all here to help you get through this!!:grouphug:

I totally gave the poor dog a pass on that one. They never bit each other again.

Well, speaking of furry critters, had to take the pig to the vet yesterday (guinea, that is). (Ummm, guinea PIG, not guinea vet. THAT would be weird.)
ANyhoo, I've noticed the pig's head is tilted - increasingly so, until she's now really listing to port as she waddles around. Not good. :worried: This is DS9's prized love of his life, so he and I packed up the leaning tower of Pig and drove the half hour to the nearest piggie-capable vet. I felt certain that the vet would render it unfixable (this is an almost 5 yr old pig... life span on the average pig is 4-7 yrs.) At best, i figured ear infection... at worst, well, lots of things, most fatal. Lo and behold, the vet seems to think it's the former, treatable with antibiotics, and said, "I'll go get some drugs for her and be right back." Well, my son nearly freaked out, says I can't let the vet DO this to her!
"Do WHAT, honey? This is a good thing - she's going to HELP Gracie!" :headscrat
DS replies with angst and fear, "But Mom! Don't let her do it! We CAN'T let Gracie do DRUGS! Those things are SO BAD FOR YOU!" :tsktsk:
(My son - the extreme literalist.... I can see Gracie now, hanging out on street corners, lookin' for a dime bag of Baytril. The shame and horror of it all... :sosad: )
So now I'm administering piggie meds twice a day. Jury is still out on any improvement - we'll give it another 24 before I determine if it's working.

Carrie and RWTY, I'm so sorry your families are going through so much the last few days! You and your loved ones are in my thoughts and prayers!
Kristy...noticed you have 1 month down already! :dancingba
Rozzie, I would have done the same thing. Big animal lover here!
My kids have had little nips and scratches from the cats, but it's because the kids antagonized them. I have VERY easy going, mild mannered cats...especially the one that thinks she's a dog sometimes. :kitty: DS learned after the first ...and last....scratch he ever got...don't be mean to animals. DD is another story! My little "Tara of Terror!" She tortures the cats once in a while and they usually just walk away or look at me. She's been nipped at twice, very lightly, after being told a million times to leave the cats alone, she's been taken away from them but hunts them down, and I feel she asked for it! I don't punish the cat at all...and quite honestly since it's the lightest little "nip" that you can't even feel it, I kind of think "good kitties!" (1. the didn't actually hurt her so I thank them for that and 2. maybe she would get the hint!)

Well, we are going to be at the first ever US "concert" for the Doodlebops tommorrow! :hammer: Can I just say I can not stand them!?!!? That has to be the only show on Playhouse Disney I can not have on when I am in the room. I hate them! Wiggles annoy me after a while, but I can listen to them. I love Stanley, love Bear but the Doodlebops are "evil" in my mind! To make matters worse, DH watches them with DD when I'm not home so she loves them!
But I brought it upon myself. :worried: Being a big animal lover, I refused to go to circuses with live animals. Way too much abuse going on. Well, I finally broke down and said ok last week and we purchased tickets for Ringling Bros tommorrow morning at Madison Square Garden. I felt really bad that DS is 6 1/2 and has never been to a circus before in his life. I know he would LOVE the other acts and all the activity, plus we all love going into NYC....and it's Spring Break, we needed something to do to break the monotony of being home all week.
So 2 days ago, DH gets an email from ticketmaster telling him that the Doodlebops will be performing live for the first time after the circus show we are attending! And we can see them free! :hammer:
This is what I get for backing down on my principals! Now I really know the circus is terrible! First the animal treatment, then the emptying of our wallets and now the Doodlebops! I feel a migraine coming on already.

Yes - 1 month down. I hate to be a glass 1/2 empty girl - but I'm telling you - this is dragging for me. This is the first time I've been homeschooling with DH gone, and it's tough. We didn't really start our school year until October because of going to CA for a month and then moving to FL - so we aren't stopping our school year until the end of June-ish - we'll have a really short summer break. Of course - with DH coming home in there somewhere and me going to CA for my friends wedding - we'll probably have to take sometime off in June - so that means school in July. Hmmmmmmm..... no way around it really. Oh well. We'll be completley back on track next school year. I'm so glad we don't have to move again!
I vented last night in a really long e-mail to DH all about my stress level, kids, other cub scout parents, Easter Party I'm having, etc. He felt so guilty about being gone - he called last night before he was technically allowed another phone call. It was sweet. He only got to talk for 10 minutes, but it was great to hear his voice. I hope he can call on Easter. i know they'll still be working - but the kids would be happy.
Boy - this will be fun to read.... sorry
So - I can't get the image out of my head of an over the hill guinea pig standing on the street corner with a cane trying to buy drugs.....:scary:

Morning all.
Carrie- do you mean your FIL is in surgery, please tell me your DH is okay?
Gopherit- your kids are so cute. What a great story.
Stimpy- I can so relate to you. I HATE the doodlebops. Thank goodness with satellite we have two Disney channels. I always turn it when the Doodlebops come on. I really don't like Lilo and Stitch either. They are always arguing on that show. It just gets on my nerves.
Kristy- I admire you so much. There is no way I could homeschool my kids. I would just think, oh we'll do that tomorrow. My kids would be in high school, and doing
4th grade work!:teacher:
Okay, I'm getting off the computer now. Guess what Sunday is... that's right, Easter. I just started making my girls Easter dresses last night. I'm such a procrasitinator. It's the thing I hate the most about myself. I said that was the only thing I was going to do today, so I must get busy.

He's out of surgery and they only had to take little tissue. Plus, they will re-pack and inspect the opening on Friday, but they do not think they will have to do surgery!!! Now, he did have a lung collapse and quickly recover during surgery and they have to keep him on the ventilator a little longer but all in all it's looking like a better day.

lol Gopherit - you have the most colorful family! They must get so much from you as you are too too funny!!! :hahahaha: I hope your son's lil piggie gets better. I know she has had a few episodes this year already. Its hell getting older.
Carrie - do keep us posted on your FiL - I sure hope this surgery goes well. Hope hubby is holding up too. Big hugs for you both!
AFMom - I am so glad a month is gone! That is fantastic and I can understand EXACTLY what you mean about it being harder without Dad around. I have a sister that is a stay at home mother (and many here are as well I know) and I really don't know how she does it when her hubby is gone on trips, etc from time to time. You get NO time off! Hang in there girlie - - - the time is going by even if it seems so slow!!! (does this mean you are aging more slowly? )
I bought lil PJ's Easter dress yesterday Erin but it would be so neat to have had time to make it! I do hope you will share some pictures of the girls when you get a chance in their Easter finest!!!
Stimpy - say it ain't so!!! I immediately turn the channel when the Doodlebops come on as well. Too annoying and I just don't want the boys to see it and decide they REALLY like it! ARGH! Luckily, we don't watch too much tv when they are on, so it is not too hard to miss them. Good luck with your concert and the circus. I hope the kids have fun :)

I mean, here they are, in probably the world's most annoying costumes ever (have you ever tried to paint your face???? And they do it every day and then wear fake fingers and a head thing that covers their whole neck and stuff, and yet, somehow they can STILL play??? Oh, the magic of television...) and yet, they are amazingly PERKY!!!
They are so stinking happy!
And yet, they are hated. I'm going to send them a note to tell them to get PERKIER and HAPPIER! Then maybe you'll all give them a chance, although I think they're doing remarkably well, battling against the odds as it were.

Well, still no sign of improvement in pigland, but we're not giving up yet! If nothing else, I think she's really enjoying the quality time each evening and morning, LOL - DS9 really caters to her, fetches her cilantro to nibble. What a spoiled piggie.
I once made my dd's Easter dress - it was a thing of beauty... and she hated it! Wore it one time. I think I would have a better shot of making something she would like now (she was 2then, now she's almost 6 and much better at voicing her opinions on wardrobe!) Unfortunately, I'm just not sure I'd LIKE what she would want me to make, LOL! She's all about the glitz and glitter.... ugh. Fortunately, she and I were shopping this xmas and stumbled into a Strausburg outlet and found a GORGEOUS lavender smocked dress at about 60% off. It was something both she and I could agree on so carpe dressum and away we went. Got the boys some dashing Ralph Lauren plaid shirts in spring colors during a winter sale too, and just found a nice one for DH at TJ Maxx, so they will look snappy on a bargain budget, LOL. One problem - absolutely NOTHING for moi. Whatever. I'm so non-plussed about clothes right now, I could wear a burlap sack and be content, so long as my gang turns out well! Women's clothing prices won't really drop until after Mother's Day anyway, so I'm content to make do with last year's outfit and bide my time! I should be able to get a good deal on something in time for DD's mother/daughter tea, kindergarten grad, and niece's HS graduation, all near the end of May.
Gotta tell you what DS9 did today - so sweet. We're on our way to school, and I'm in a bit of a fret because we are running late. If we are too late, dd will miss her bus from the boys' school over to her school, which means I'll have to drive her to there, which will add about 40 minutes to my schedule. Since I'm already leaving work early to pick up dd and her friend for a play date, the kids knew it was important that Mom get to work as on-time as possible. So I look in the mirror behind me at dd and ask her, "Where is your jacket?" She had forgotten it. Oh nuts. I am now debating - late for school, or coatless kid? It isn't that chilly out, it will most likely warm up, but spring weather is so unpredictable. The school usually has extra sweatshirts or sweaters (they wear uniforms, and have a "spare" uniform closet) but on the other hand.... I can't decide to go back or go ahead.
DS9 pipes up, "Well, let's just go ahead to school. When we get there, Caroline, you get out first, and if you are cold, I will give you my sweatshirt to wear, okay?"
When we arrived at the school, the bus was just pulling up. DS9 was true to his promise, he bails out of the car and takes dd to bus stop and proceeds to take off his sweatshirt. Dd5 stops him and says, "No, I'm fine, you keep it, you may need it. I will borrow one from school if I have to." Just so darn sweet watching the 2 of them, I wanted to take off MY sweater and wrap them both inside it with me and freeze that moment forever!

oh well, i am busily avoiding my work. I have gotten so good at this, I might just have to write a book on it. Of course that would be work and I would spend all my time avoiding that too. Sigh.

I promise I'm just taking a short break.....
AWWWW, Gopher, that is so sweet. We really could use a sweet boy in this family. My girls sweet moments to each other are few and far between. I know what you mean about picking out the wardrobe. I think that is what has made this year sooo difficult. Last years dresses were easy, they were all alike (in the pic below). This year, I wanted them to match, but be different styles. DD9 is too old for smocked dresses, but DD3 isn't. So I had to come up with a compromise. They all like hot pink and lime green, so the fabric is hot pink and lime green. They will all have the same fabric, but they are different patterns(does that make any sense). DD6 loves glitter, and gaudy. I constantly have to rein her in, in the clothing dept. all the time. She would dress like an absolute floosy (sp. ?) if I let her. She loves for her belly to show(the Brittney Spears look). Do not ask me where she got it, I'm as conservative as they come. She tells me all the time, "I don't have any cool clothes!" I think that I'm going to be hanging on for the ride with this kid.
Carrie- glad to hear it was just a typo, I was afraid I had missed something.
lllovell- I will post pics when they are done. Please don't post your trip report until I finish mine from 3 weeks ago. It will really make me look bad!!!!
Okay, as you were, I'm going back to the sewing machine....

HELP!
So I'm new here. I was on "the other" board as MOQu, but I like Piglet513 better, as I am married to a pig and have a piglet for a child. (OK, my other two kids aren't pigs, but my DD14 certainly lives in a pigsty she calls her bedroom).
Here is a little nothingness about our family:
DH, while being a pig, is also an actor/musician/singer/songwriter and has a day-job working nights as a Polysomnographic Technologist (Sleep Lab Tech).
DS2, also a pig, is extremely cute and keeps us all on our toes.
DD14 only lives like a pig. Typical teenage girl. (Mom, can you buy me a Coach purse? Sure honey, when the money tree starts growing again in our backyard.) (Keep in mind her father, my ex-hubby, has lots of money he likes to spend on his "new" family and NOT her.)
DS15 is our resident videogame expert and allround nice kid.
We love Disney and just recently purchased a BWV resale of 68 whole points! When you're poor you start small....
Years ago (1992-2000) kids and I were members when I was married the their dad. 230 points go alot farther then 68 points! But although I had to give up the DVC membership, I ended up marrying a much better man! Character is worth a lot more than $$$!
I will spend some time reading some posts here to get to know all of you better. Feel free to fill me in with an abridged version to help me out :help:

OK, some un-nothingness - FIL is doing much better, all things considered. Latest news is MIL has been a basket case and is getting much worse. DH is afraid he'll eb checking her into the hospital soon. I understand why this typically very strong woman is losing it, but that does not make it weasier. DH is hoping he can get the RN or a doc to give her something. Oh bother.

Carrie - I dont suppose the doctor can sit your MiL down and tell her to cool it? Sometimes people in heightened emotional states need someone they "think" has authority to tell them what to do (and relatives usually dont it the bill). I do hope she gets some rest soon.
Piglet - WELCOME! Sounds like you will fit in wonderfully here! Prop up your feet and help yourself to some snacks and/or libations in the closet. We all mostly come here to escape and support each other and just blab about DVC so please join us anytime!

Being the mother of a 2 year old, I can't help but jump into the Doodlebops discussion.
I wouldn't call it my favorite show (that would be Vegietales DVDs), but I've seen worse!
There are so many more choices now than when my DS15 and DD14 were little. DD14 liked Barney and Teletubbies, but wouldn't watch Sesame Street. I endured an 8 hour video tape marathon of Barney when I would drive back and forth between Tennessee and Michigan.
Luckily now I can introduce DS2 to more variety. He is more obsessed with his drums (real drums!) than in TV right now. But the DVD in the car is a Godsend!

lllovell - DH thinks doc is aware of her issues. I think sh'es beyond cool it. She is making herself physically ill. I am so tempted to dirve teh 3 stinking hours tomight just to go give dh a hug and leave again to get out of the way, but then he'd worry about me driving back late alone. He's doing ok, but He is teh oldest (by 5 to 15 years) and the one the others depend on most.

This is slightly OT, but what isn't here? Has anyone else tried No Pudge! Fudge Brownie Mix? Whoaaaa, are they good! No fat, all natural ingedients, no artificial sweeteners. Dense and chewy. You make them with non-fat yogurt or just about anything else - applesauce, lite sour cream. Use an egg white for more cake-like brownies. And boy, are they a good cure for a chocolate attack. LOTS of cocoa and chocolate taste.
I bought a box and made them yesterday. I was fully expecting a so-so result. I was wrong. I love finding stuff like this.:D
(This won't cure any of your current woes, but it won't hurt, either.)

Welcome Piglet513! The great thing about a thread about nothing - you really don't have to go back and read all of the nothingness! We have a lovely closet with wonderful snacks (and drinks.....) to hide in, people to complain to and have fun with, and the all important word of the week! Come share your rants and joys!

Welcome Piglet! So glad you found us! I so agree with you on the better to be with someone of character than to have $$$$$$$. Little know fact about me, is I dated a millionare for a long time. Biggest jerk that has ever walked the planet. I look at my DH now, and just thank my lucky stars I could be so fortunate to marry a man that I can trust and enjoy growing old with!
Carrie, sounds like your MIL might need a break. Has she been staying at the hospital this whole time? Maybe when he gets out of ICU and to a room she can step back and start taking some breaks. Does she have a GP that can maybe give her a little Ativan or something to just help her poor mind relax? I would be a basketcase also if it was my DH in there. That is great news on the latest surgery. Sounds like they are really knocking it out. Your poor DH, the weight of the world must be on his shoulders. Maybe when FIL gets out ya'll can take a small trip somewhere and unwind. Mmnnn....wonder where you could go?????;)
I am working Easter, no need to buy any clothes for me! Erin I so admire you for sewing your little one's dresses. I cannot even sew a button on. DH does all our mending around the house, much to the horror of MIL. Oh well, they knew he wasen't marry a domestic goddess!:innocent:
hope everyone is on the mend. Rwe, how is your mom doing?
And of course the little gopherit, the cilantro loving one-hope he finds himself back to his old er, do they hop? scoot? anyway back to his self!

Carrie, sounds like your MIL might need a break. Has she been staying at the hospital this whole time?
Yup. However, she did leave to shower and eat today! DH is only owrking on 7 hours of sleep since Monday Mornign himself and tonight he gets the night shift agin. He's tired, but doing ok.
No bad news since last update. Theyreally think he's turned a corner. Still likely in ICU until at least Friday when they do what will hopefully be the final check of his leg.
Does she have a GP that can maybe give her a little Ativan or something to just help her poor mind relax? She has some heart issues and is really sensitive to meds (I'll not say drugs as I'm afraid of what gopherit's ds would think ;) ) So, it's difficult, but dh said she was much better tonight.
Maybe when FIL gets out ya'll can take a small trip somewhere and unwind. Mmnnn....wonder where you could go?????;) Really wanted to do the Minnie Marathon. Then again, I have no points until 07, and that's only 17 points. :(
Gopherit - You make me feel like a bad pig parent. None of mine lasted more than 3years. :( I hope your's is doing better!
Yes, rwe, any word on mom?
Piglet,
My 2 yr old likes drums too! She's pretty decent with her sticks....but she mostly plays along with the Wiggles. Doodlebops are not for us (it's the seams on the costumes around the faces!)

I was waiting until I got my mornign report from dh to post. Well, FIL is back in surgery. Bacteria may have spread to his calf. This is a blow they did not need.
On the bright side, this could be nothing adn they just want to make sure they catch it soon if it's another outbreak. ALso,, they got him into surgery instantly. While this scared teh ILs even more, it means they are really looking out for FIL and really on top of things.
I was so hoping to have more good news to post today.

And of course the little gopherit, the cilantro loving one-hope he finds himself back to his old er, do they hop? scoot? anyway back to his self!
They waddle... and this one definitely does that well, just a bit too far to the left, though! Actually, I really think I'm starting to see an improvement. We REALLY cleaned the pig pen last night - she loves a clean cage (hey who wouldn't right?), in fact, she was so happy, she "popcorned" (that's what they call guinea pig excitement - they "pop" up, just like one of those little balls in the timeless kids' push toy, LOL!) I'm getting quite adept at shoving an oral syringe down her squeaky little face, too! Of course, she's coming to associate medicine with parsley and cilantro, so perhaps she WILL become a "druggie", LOL! Nothin' soothes the nerves of the savage pig quite like parsley, sez I...
Some quick catch-ups here : person who wrote about no pudge brownies was JustDenise (whom I haven't heard from in awhile - Denise, you out there? I am hoping all is well and she's just caught up in the throes of puppy-training!) Carrie, parsley won't help your MIL, but sure sounds like a good doc with an understanding of the duress she's been under could help, if nothing else than to remind her from a med professional's viewpoint that the patient needs her to be well and not be stressed out worrying about her in turn. By working herself into a lather, she can potentially hurt 2 people - herself and her spouse. It's easier said than done, though, I'm sure. Hopefully everything will turn a corner for the better soon and stay there. Same goes for your family, RWeThereYet! Hello / welcome to Piglet! Llovelll, read your report... sigh.... what I wouldn't give to try a GV! Sounds like you had a good time! Nono - I know it isn't Friday, but since it's Easter week, could ya open bar a bit early? Kinda longin' for a Long Island iced tea over here! But no regrets that my kids are too old for Doodlebops - ewww. I tolerated Wiggles, did not care for Barney, and absolutely saw no value in those tubbie thingies. And what is with the recent dumbing-down of my beloved Sesame Street lately? I was always just fine (as were my kids when they were younger) with SS just the way it was. Of course, I haven't seen it lately and don't have a toddler anymore, so maybe I'm not the best judge.... It sure seems like there ARE lots of TV options out there, but man, so many of them are so BAD! My kids are into some of the older-kid stuff now, like Ned's Declassified and Drake&Josh - I suppose those are ok, but don't get me started about Danny Phantom or that dreadful thing with the angry girl and grim reaper dude. And Ed/Ed/Eddy is banned in our house. Gives me a shudder just thinking about it. Brrrrrrrrr.
ANYHOOO... so we get a long wkend off work (supposedly.... DH is hoping he's not still chained to his job and can get a break!) Kids all have baseball tonight, starting with a cookout. Tomorrow I've promised Ice Age II, sneaker shopping, and egg dyeing, with another dose of baseball, we think, weather permitting. Then Saturday, MORE baseball (it's getting OLD, people!), trip to bakery for Easter bread, grab SIL's favorite wine and some Easter chocolates at our WONDERFUL local swiss confectioner's, and a then debate on what to do about church. My mom wants us over in Dayton for Easter (about 3 hrs away) and I'm thinking about doing the Easter vigil mass on Sat. night so kids can just wear comfy clothes for travel and we can leave the house in the a.m. and get to SIL's house by noon. Otherwise - we may show up in time for Easter dinner and that's about it! THose of you who are Catholic know, however, that the Easter vigil mass is soooooo long - and to me, it's just not the same as Easter Sunday. (Weird, isn't it - because I LOVE going to xmas eve mass....It wouldn't seem like xmas if I didn't!) Decisions, decisions. We get Monday off too, which will hopefully give us time to return home, recover, and wash some clothes!
Well, gotta get some stuff done around here if I expect to ever partake of all that business listed above...... Later!

Welcome Piglet! :clappingh
Carrie, ...I don't know what else to say. Hang in there!
We survived the circus, and the "evil" Doodlebops. I cringed whenever the elephants came out and the announcers made comments about how they were only doing what they do in nature. Ummm I don't think they walk around in a "train" with their front legs on the backs of the elephants in front of them! ALthough, I can be wrong  Fortunately, they are not allowed to bring the Big Cats into the city for shows.
We also confirmed that our kids are total opposites from each other. Even though we treat them basically the same they still are turning out so different! DS was always a great baby and kid, always very active but he listens to what he is told, usually very well-behaved...and a little bit too much like Mommy in that he's a people-pleaser. He has his moments but is basically a good child to take places, great traveler and very well-mannered (in public atleast ;) ) .
Then there is our little terror! DD is completely opposite. She's been a shock to us since the day I found out I was pregnant with her. I love her to death but man does she drive me nuts! I always say that if she was my first child, she would have been my only child. I don't know what the heck we were thinking bringing her to the circus...she could have BEEN in the circus the way she acts! Of course DH...who spoils her rotten and helps contribute to this problem....has blinders on and doesn't see her climbing all over me, yelling to be let down etc. People on the train are saying how adorable she is, and they seemed sincere LOL, I'm telling them no she's not! She's a little monster! She would not sit still through the circus but those damn Doodlebops came out and she went nuts! Started clapping and dancing and having a grand old time. Basically the only break I had all day. :hammer:
We tried to take them to Empire State Building, but that didn't go over well with her highness either. Fo some strange reason DH thought it would be a good idea. :hammer: We got on the line to go to the top and found out it was 1 1/2 hour wait to get to elevators. That was the end of that! DS was very disappointed and I felt really bad for him. We promised DS we would go back into the city on his next break, with just him, and take him to the museum and the Empire State Building.
So we went back to Penn Station, got lunch at a McDonalds where DS met a woman from Nigeria and was talking to her for a while...until she offered to take him back to Africa with her...then he got a little worried LOL
So overall, DS had a great time, I'm worn out and DH can't understand why
And now DS is over his Grammy & PopPop's for a sleepover and some spoiling of his own, DH went to work early for overtime and it's just me and "the Terror" for the night. (Who of course is acting all cute and innocent as I write this  )

C Belle, I can definately feel for you with the $$ and court stuff. Went through years of courts and $$ because of ex and his crap. And at least once a year I still have to go sit in a court room because he can afford to waste money on attorney fees. I got tired of paying my attorney for doing stuff I could and just go by myself now. It makes it a little more bearable to know that while waiting in the courtroom he has to pay his guy $250/hour! And since I ditched my attorney, I've settled every matter without a trial and every time we end up at court, the ex's plan just backfires and I end up better off making a deal with his attorney!
Due to Gopherit's request, the bar is open 24/7 from now (Holy Thursday) until April 19/20 (last day of Passover). Don't imbibe if you're going to get crazy -- nothing worse than being sloppy on the High Holidays. :tsktsk:

Bavaria - So glad your dad can at least be home for Easter!

OK, last report, the only negative was teh temp going up a bit. Of course, the last time that happened wa sths morning just before hey discovered teh new spot. I'm just going to hope it's from 2 surgeries in one day. If that makes no sense to those of you who know better, please don'ttell me.
Oh and the nruses changed today (they work 3 12's). The new day one was awful. FIL was very irritated with ventilator and nurse did not bother to sedate him more. 3 out of 4 RNs and the doc do not want him irritated. Plus she really limited visitor time. Said her drawing blood, changing sheets and bathing was stimulating enough for him. No, the family was not being loud or keeping FIL from resting (although irritation was). The other RNs were in the room most of the time. If they were at the desk, they were watching FILs monitors. She was rarely in the room adn never watching the monitors when she was at the desk, but the family could not look out forhim, because he had enough stimulation. Grrrr....
New night nurse is great, though. SHe asked if the family had been spending the night. DH explained that MIL will not leave adn at least 1 person stays with her because she is not doing well. He was scared to death she would say that was going to end. Instead she said, "Well, let me know if I can get you anything." That as a ral relief. Especially, as it's dh's night off and he will not have to worry about the treatment. He needs sleep badly. He's started to crack a few times today.
Good news for all fo you, you won't have my depressing posts for a few days, as I have Corporate Dungeon tomorrow and then I'm heading to ILs adn hopefully to my family Saturday night. We'll see. So, take a break from teh depression withuot worrying that anything went wrong.
Have a great weekend everyone adn thanks again for your supprt this week!

Carrie, I'm going to be worried about you and your family all weekend now. Please hurry back with an update and hopefully good news.
My big "adventure" for today is the grocery store with DD :scary: If we didn't needs eggs for the Easter Bunny, (and oh yeah.....something to eat for Easter dinner!), I would have waited until DH was off and he could stay home with her. She's usually good until we get to the check-out line. That's when she decides to escape and try to climb out of the cart...and we basically have to bag our own groceries around here. One hand holding a screaming, wriggling toddler down and the other putting food in bags and the cart is just :holymoly: (All while the clerk watches you and gives you a look like what's taking so long?? But they wouldn't dare lift a single item and place it in a bag for you!) Sooo hopefully it will be a quick trip...and uneventful trip!
Hope everyone has a good day today and if you won't be around here this weekend, I hope it's a great one!

whooooooo.......all the choices in the closet, I take some of gopher's coffee and roll this morning, and here *rinses out go mug* I'll put nono's creation in this for when I go to the river today!
Some of my clan are camping at the river (not roughing it I assure you, in their $$$$ RVs) at the camping club they belong to. Mind you, their "timeshare" is a great investment/idea/wonderful thing to do, and DVC, well the"have you lost your mind" look is perfected around here.
We went out there last night for steaks, and I took Inky (greyhound) and Angel (princess pictured) and took them down to the river, and Angel just cracked us up. We have always had BIG dogs, labs, dobies, river loving dogs. Angel, well she is the first little *princess*. She needed a home, I was going to help the owner find her a home, as DH says, the rest is history. Anyway, she put two front paws in the river, and jumped out and into my arms (all 50 lbs, ugh) and was telling me "mommy my feet are DIRTY!" Tomboy she is not. Meanwhile Inky is making mudpies...
Stimpy---you have brought up one of my biggest pet peeves. How the cashiers refuse to lift a finger at the check out line. It just irks me to no extent. I guess as a former bagger/cashier, I should be on their side. BUT OMG, can ya get any more rude? people like Stimpy---battling litle ones, and little old people who are doing good to be in a scooter. They just stand there and smack their gum. Oh no please, don't smile too, or say hello, your face might crack. One time, I was in one of my moods, decided to have a stare down at Walmart with one of them. My groceries were on the turn thing, all ready to go. She was staring me down, because she really can't say "take your crap off the thing" and I wanted to see how long she would stand there before she cracked and said it. (don't worry, I was only person in line) Several long minutes went by, and finally someone got behind me in line, and I grabbed my stuff. The thing is, I always grabbed it before, but now, when they are refusing to do anything besides take up precious O2, well rant over, sorry.:bagovermy
Oh, Erin, what do you think about Walmart in Fairhope????? Intrested in your opinion!!
Have a great weekend, I'll be at the river or working all weekend. Hope the bunny brings everyone something good! Take care Carrie, please update us as soon as you can. hang in there, and sending many prayers your way!!!

I know, Gopher, it's a great excuse to visit, but I still get sniff-ly at times. We're SO proud of him, and this is such a great opportunity for him. He may be my kid, but he's just an all around great guy. Disney couldn't pick a better person. I'll probably be going down with my DIL in Aug. or Sept. when she moves their apartment stuff down. It won't be a "vacation", but it'll be nice to be there. Hot, but nice.
Get this for being a nice son - he called last night and said that since he'd have time between graduation and Disney, he'd come down, spend time with us and help me clean out the garage(!). Gotta love it. (Aw heck, I'm sniffly again.)

I know some of you have REAL problems with family health and separation right now, and I'm just being a silly Mom. Mine is just a little blip in comparison, and my heart goes out to you.

DisFlan, it sounds like you did (and are doing!) a great job as a parent! You should be really proud of your son and of yourself  As much as I gripe about my kids sometimes, especially the little imp , I know I'm going to be torn up inside when the time comes for them to leave the nest....and I still have many years to go. Hang in there!!
Rozzie, yep, that's one of my big pet peeves too. I can't tell you how many times I have helped older people and moms ( & a few dads too) with kids bag there stuff on line. (Of course, those are the times it's just me, DH is with our kids at home and I'm usually in no big rush to get home ;) ) Since this was a BIG trip and I haven't been to the grocery store for a big food shopping trip in over a month (thank goodness for 7-11 and Target!), it was an adventure! Oh well, it's over and done for atleast another 2 weeks! (But next time I do it on DH's day off!!)
Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!

Can't type much - my fingers don't want to work after using all the gas trimmers and edgers on the yard today!!!!!

AFMom, you are much more energetic than me! I was 'working' ;) today; started to make a card to send to RWe and ended up with a whole new batch of Disney cards.....
Speaking of, RWe, hope that things are going ok with yoru mother.....
Well, have a great weekend everyone!!!
I think I skipped last week - sorry.
This week's Word-To-Scream-In-Public-For-No-Apparent-Reason is: bunny.
Got the stang back from the shop - looks good as new, Life is good again - except for the $3.00 gas. Looks like DD's going to community college. Any higher it'll be a technical institute.

Get this for being a nice son - he called last night and said that since he'd have time between graduation and Disney, he'd come down, spend time with us and help me clean out the garage(!). Gotta love it. (Aw heck, I'm sniffly again.)
Hey!? I guess at this point, maybe we can admit we've made it as successful parents? Wow, what a nice feeling!

Oh yeah!!! You made it in the successful parent category, DisFlan!!!! Wow! So what is his first job title or description with Disney?
Happy Easter to all of you! May you see a Bunny today!

BUNNY everyone!! (So long as it's not chocolate.....) OK, I'll admit it, one of my favourite words. I still have 'bunny' from when I was a baby, along with Lousy (a Steiff hare) and a Build a Bear bunny.
Love bunnies!!!!
Have a wonderful holiday everyone, and looking forward to a brighter rest of the year!

Happy to give a shout-out to all my lagomorphin' friends .... BUNNY!
Meanwhile - we're in Dayton @ SILs. I'm trying to convince DH to go do an overhaul of SIL's garage to give our vehicle safe haven from the impending storms. Hail a'coming....
Hey, here's something I didn't know til yesterday. Our neighbor's dd is working at WDW until Aug 18 (which means she will still be there when we get there!) She's in the college program, and her dad took her down there and got her settled a few weeks back. She is working on M:S (but she was off the day of the fatality).
My DS had me laughing the other day. I told him, just think, in 5 yrs, you'll be driving. His reply: COOL!
And 6 years, you'll be getting ready for the prom. (His reply: Ewwwww.)
And in 8 yrs, you'll be hunting for work inbetween semesters at college!
His reply: That STINKS! You mean I'll have to work, and MISS Disney World?
My response: hey, maybe you can get a job working AT Disney World!
His Reply: NO WAY! I don't want to be Snow White!
Me: "Huh? What makes you think you would get THAT job? Wouldn't they put a GIRL in as Snow White?"
His Answer: Not Necessarily! Didn't you LOOK at that last shot you took of RYan and me with Snow White? That was NOT a girl - that had to be a guy! Every time I look at that photo, all I can think of is Andrew..... Ewwwwwwww.....
(Andrew is our neighbor's son who, along with his rowdy buddies at age 13, dressed like a girl cheerleader for halloween and apparently scarred my son for life!) When we got home, irony of ironies, the neighborhood kids were coleected in our yard, discussing summer jobs, and how the girl up the street now works at Disney, and what a cool job it sounds like, etc..... I looked at Andrew and said, "Funny you should mention that... Evan thinks there's the PERFECT job for you there, right Ev?" (I should note that Andrew did hear the whole story and thinks it's hilarious!)
Well, happy easter to all. Gotta go help shift stuff in the garage to avert potential hail-impact automotive disaster!

He's going to be starting a Management Internship in retailing. There are only about 8, so it's pretty competative. And it's a salaried internship. We'll know more after he gets there.

DisFlan-congrats on your son's new job! Hopefully you'll get to visit a lot!
Gopherit- Your story about the less than feminine Snow White cracked me up. DH and I have decided and confirmed on our recent trip, that... (how shall I say this in a nice way....) well, it seems that the young ladies that are chosen for Snow White are not quite as attractive as some of the other princesses. It's actually become a joke with our family. (We are really not mean spirited, it just seems that way sometimes!) I sure hope that no ones daughter from Mouseowners is serving in the Snow White capacity!:hahahaha:
Well, the dresses finally got done about 8pm last night! Here's a couple of pics of the girls from this morning. Not as fancy as last year. I know the color is bright, but these pics seem to make them even brighter than they are in real life.

Sorry for the dalay. I was waiting fo rthe mornig report from dh, when I started to catch up here. Then, some rude persondecided I needed to do some work. In the meantime, dh called.
Things are great!!!!
It was a general upswing over the weekend, but still had some scares. Yesterday was ll good news. Very appropriate for teh day. Worked hard over the weeknd doing MILs Easter shoppign for teh little ones and catching up their laundry so that SIL3 could get to the hospital. SUnday am, I went ot see my parents and dh was able to get away and come for dinner. When he was with his family who were all rather dismal, he just kind of looked like the rest of them. However, he's notrious for being fun with my family. My niece shouted, "Unclle Scott' shere, now we can have fun!" when he arrived. Although, he tried and enjoyed being in a happier pplace ofr a bit, you could tell there was no sparkle in him. Made me so sad. Then we had to drive off inseparate directions when we left. LAst night was hard. I knew it should only be one more night, but I haven't really slept sincehe left.
Well, today was even better news! SApring details, they're basically going to start the healing process today. The ventilator should be gone by Wednesday, his temp's been going down and is about normal now, his kidney production has gone way up the last 2 days and they are taking off the sedation meds a bit to let him be more conscious. (not awake, but so you can yell or speak firmly adn get him to squeeze your hane or wiggle his toes.) Next week, they will start skin grafts.
Oh, I found out Friday that he had moved up to a 50/50 chance of surviving. What??? They said eh could die from surgery adn WebMD mentioned it, but teh doc's only talked about keeping his leg. WHat good would his leg do if he was dead? Probably better that they didn't mention it, but still seems kind of wrong to bring it up that it's only 50/50 when you think he's through the worst. Then my BIL found out that they only gave him a 10% chance on Monday. Wow. As lof last night, the doc was "optimistic." I know that if he made it through what he did, though, he's not giving up now.
So, dh will some home tonight. I can't wait. There'll likely be a lot more weeknd trips to come, but at least things are looking up. Thansk for all of your thougths and prayers. Please keep them up, as it will be a long haul for everyone. I had to tell dh as he was lamenting what's still to come that it's just like our marathon. You take it one step at a time and don't look too far ahead.
That's it for now. I'm exhausted, as we were at the hospital until late every night adn up early and mnot in our own bed, but at least dh is coming home (because everythign else is good).
Erin -Love the dresses!!!!
Rozzie - Angel's a doll!!!
bavaria - Hope you enjoyed Easter with your dad and that he continues to improve.
rwe - ANy update on your mom?
Carrie, sounds like FIL is coming around. He's a lucky man to have a great family like your's.
BUNNY to one and all. Glad Rash has popped back in and his new wheels are spinning again. Now only if we could track down Toon!
Hey, about that add-on I eluded to after our HHI trip. Wanna see..

Gotta have A/C - it's supposed to get upper 80's to 90 today and tomorrow. And so humid! TW - good choice!
Carrie - I'm so glad he's doing better. Can't believe his odds were so low! Where do they get those numbers anyway?
Erin - Awesome dresses!
So - Had a big Easter party yesterday - 18 people - 10 were kids, and 6 of them were 3 and under! Very busy!
MIL and FIL took an overnight flight here and landed this morning - they were ok for a while - but are now both sacked out for a whil. They thought they'd sleep more on the plane - but that didn't happen. Hopefully after their nap we'll be able to hit thebeach or something. It's so darn hot!
OK - gotta run to keep the kids quiet while they nap.

Caution - Military Wife Venting and Whining - - - - -
Ok - so talked to DH on the phone yesterday - which was nice. But he procedes to tell me all about the deployment changes they are making. He'll be back in June, and could deploy as soon as September for another 3 months. Oh - but then - he's due to leave again in December - so might not come home in between. So we'd have him home 3 months out of this year. I didn't sleep at all thinking about it last night. I seriously don't know what I'm going to do. This last 1.5 months of the 3 month deployment have been really crappy. I mean - I have two very active boys that want their dad around. This just ---- well - I can't say here but if I did you'd all be blushing.

Carrie, glad to hear the good news, and that his #'s are going up. The numbers for NF are very very scary----looks like your FIL is improving with each day, and ya'll finally made the turn in the road I was so hoping to hear about. Give him all our MO best, and your DH and MIL also. What a nightmare road this has been for everybody!! It must have been so hard to leave. Big hug for you. You are such a strong woman!

Carrie, glad to hear the good news!
Erin, I am so jealous. Those dresses (and the pretty girls wearing them) are gorgeous! I wish I had an ounce of talent in that department but alas, I stink at anything sewing related.
Rash, glad to here the Stang is back and looking perfect again!
TW1, congrats on the new addition to the household, I hope you get many many years of great use out of it. We got so spoiled by having our central A/C!
Kristy, man, the news about your DH really.....ummm..."Disney" friendly word.....stinks! You and your boys must be so disappointed. I imagine you must have a million emotions and thoughts going through your head right now. I can't think of anything to say that would help make you feel even a little better right now. Please feel free to vent anytime you need to! :grouphug:

Carrie, I am so relieved to hear your news! That's so wonderful that he has turned the corner! I will continue praying, but I'm so glad for all of you.
Kristy, that's awful. I really don't know how you do that. Are you all planing to be in the AF for his entire career, or is he planning to leave after a certain amount of time? I think that lifestyle would be really hard - I always say I think the spouses of the people who are deployed have one of the hardest jobs I can think of.
Well, my news here is that we survived Easter - it was really fun, but is so hectic with my job. I had two choirs, 4 instrumental soloists, our regular band and and piano and a set of timpani to fit on the stage all at once, and after we worked it all out, we realized that I hadn't left room for me to conduct, or the pastor. Details, details. And we were running rehearsals for everything continuously from 8:30 until the 11:00 service. At one point the children's choir was so late that I had 17 minutes left to run 4 pieces, and yet the director didn't seem to understand that that was not the time to talk them all through the words again. Oh well, it all came out in the wash, and frankly, everything went smashingly.
And, in Disney news, my FIL has decided to come with us in September. I'm actually getting used to the idea, and thinking that it may be very fun, although I'm a little sad about less alone time with my dh. The most surprising news to me is that I called this morning, and was able to switch our one-bedroom res. to a two bed at the BCV. I was going to be very sad if we couldn't be at the BCV because we've never stayed there and are looking forward to trying it, so that's cool.
I hope everyone had a great Easter!
