Disney Vacation Club Members have a unique opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at Walt Disney WorldŽ innovations through a special Disney Institute tour.

During the three-hour Innovation in Action tour, groups of 20-40 Guests learn about the early days of Walt's career and take an up-close look at places typically off limits to the public, including the Nursery and Tree Farm, where Disney horticulturalists create those world-famous topiary displays; Textile Services, one of the largest laundry facilities on earth; and Central Shops, home to the builders of the Disney magic.

While this tour usually is available only to convention groups, Disney Institute leaders are making this experience available to Disney Vacation Club Members and their Guests on Sept. 14, 21 and 28, and Oct. 5, 12, 19 and 26, at a discounted price of $99 a person. The tour begins by picking up participants at 9 a.m. at the Epcot main entrance Guest Relations area, and at 9:15 a.m. at the Disney's BoardWalk Resort porte cochere.

To participate in the tour, you must register before 5 p.m. on the Monday prior to the Thursday tour

In Disneyspeak what they just said is : We have no convention groups booked for those days and we REALLY need someone to help us achieve maximum shareholder value.

We signed up for the tour on 10/5, but we're not sure we're going to go on it. It sounds quite a bit like the KTTK tour -- though it would be kinda cool to look at the horticultural stuff and the workshop stuff. Still, committing 3 hrs. and $90 for what may partially be a repeat tour makes me a little wary. We can cancel up to 48 hrs. in advance, so that's what we'll do if we decide to ditch it.

I too am interested in the Nursery and Tree Farm. If you do go for it Kim I will want to catch up with you later that day for a full report! :)

Checking out the Textile dept would give a great opportunity to see how many of those bedspreads are going thru the wash too ;)

It's too bad they didn't include the Production Center in this verison of this tour.
Any one who has an interest in 'gardening' would love the horticultural aspect of this tour.

$90 seems a little steep to me, esp since the KTTK tour is only about half that with discount. But I'd love to see the tree farm and other horticulture stuff.
Oct 5 is busybusybusy tho with the BB's piratey MNSSHP!
