I know all about the long walks from the elevator at BWV, but where are the steps? We have Boardwalk view for our trip in October. Are there steps in that area that we can use and walk right out onto the Boardwalk?

There are exits that lead to stairways all along the corridors of BWV. Where the steps closest to your room exit on the ground floor depends on exactly where your room is.

Some words of warning: Sometimes the entrances to where the steps are aren't obvious. Look for a door that has a lit "exit" sign above it. Or ask the bellman where the closest steps are if you get your luggage delivered. I have often found the steps to be more convenient than the elevators at Boardwalk.

That's true, Mar. Rita, take a good look at the map at checkin. If you're there early enough (and don't mind perhaps having to wait), decide where it is most important to be close to -- a certain pool, lobby, boardwalk or mgm walkway? Those hallways are long but depending on where you are placed, you are close to one of those thing.

Wanted to add something, since you mentioned having a BW view:

Most of the BW views are over a store or a restaurant, and so there are no steps in those areas leading to the boardwalk. There is only one stairway in the BW view area that lets out onto the Boardwalk that I know of. If exit the elevators and turn left you go down a long hallway. At one point in the hallway there is a huge open Rotunda type of area. The stairway on your right, as you enter the rotunda, let's you out onto the Boardwalk, as you exit you'll see the surrey bike area. The problem is that you can't go back in this way, as the door is locked on the outside at all times. I really looked around when I was there last that's all I could find. If anyone knows of a stairway I missed that also leads out to the BW from the Boardwalk view side of the villas please do let us know.

There are a lot more stairwells that let out onto the Canal side of BWV, many which get you closer to MGM. It's nice on a hot day to walk through the halls and all the way to the end by the tennis courts, and then out to the path to MGM.

I just spray paint a big X on all the stairwell doors. Makes it a lot easier to find them.

Vikings are so smart.

DVC doesn't actually advertise their staircases. You will see once you are one - they are definitely fire escape.

but they are in great locations and there are a bunch of them.

I like the ones close to standard views. one of them is a short cut to the bus stop.

I think there are two to the BW - one lets you out near Jelly rolls (behind it), the other lets you out near the ATM.

there is one that lets you out near the quiet pool - but you can go around the building for a short cut to the main pool.
