View Full Version : Tell me if Vero would be the right place?

looks like the travel schedule may bring me close to Vero Beach in the near future - I've never been.....
I may be in Florida working for some time; my friend who does some of my Disney trips will also be there. Somehow her brain has been fried in the heat; she told me today that she may not want to go to WDW on a weekend..... :bugeyed:
So..... if I tried to pry her away from the very high end place she is staying, would Vero be an alternative for two single ladies with a passion for the mouse? Remember, I am the active vacationer who likes to be on the move. I don't care much for the beach except during storm season (ok, I live 5 minutes from the ocean, so I don't NEED a beach on my vacation)
I did do a search for some previous threads on VB - Convert, loved the photos. Tony, HOW WAS THE FOOD???

It's all the imported sweets! :hyper: ;)
Seriously -- there's some pretty neat shopping in Vero. One of my fav spots is
The Village Shops at 6100 Highway A1A . An interesting collection of small shops there. Of course you're on the 'treasure coast' so there's some things to see about pirate booty recovery and the like. There are by many accounts some nice places to eat as well. I think you might enjoy a weekend's stay -- but if the beach isn't a draw I'd proably not stay more than 3 nights. You might want to check out the campfire at the resort - it's pretty cool! In the end you'll never know unless you try it! :)

Very true, and I think that I can safely say that I often follow that rule! VB just appeals to me a lot more than the southern Florida chi chi type of weekend...

oh, I love my solo trips, Spicey! And my trips with this friend - She just had her brain fried last week and I had to smack her a little to get her back into the right frame of mind!
(Still haven't figured out the plan so don't know if we're go to Vero or not!)
Commando park visitor checking in....
Yeah, for us its go go go, so why do we go to VB? and why did we buy at HHI?
Location, location, location. For us, its all about the beach. Sure, we're only an hour+ away from the Jersey shore and we make many day trips every summer, but for a real relaxing beachside vacation its either VB or HHI for us.
Is there much to do? Not in the WDW-sense that's for sure. We go to VB after park visits to relax and unwind. We've never taken in shopping near VB so we can't comment (not that that has stopped me before.)
Food is pretty good in the onsite restuarants at VB and there are plenty of offsite alternatives.
My only lodging advice is if you are shooting for a VB studio and the Main Lodge is where they want to put you, avoid the third (top) floor at all costs. The ceiling eaves are a real pain.
