I noticed there was a Pirates Cruise out of POR on the Sassagoula Rivew (Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday at 1130am) - wondering if anyone's kids had experienced this and if you have any feedback?

Wow, the pirates cruises must be getting really popular. They seem to be popping up at all the resorts that have water access. My kids did the one at the GF a few years ago. They thought it was fun, but I'm not sure they would want to do it again. One good thing you have going for you, your boys could be "buddies". They pair the kids up when you get to the dock. It would be nice for them to already have their "buddies" built in. I don't think my younger daughter would have gone at all without big sister. If your kids go, give us a report.

DS#2 is not old enough yet (he is 3) - DS#1 is ok going by himself but does love to pair up with someone as soon as possible

I did some research and it turns out that this cruise is not a pirate cruise per say - it is a "jester" cruise
From allearsnet
"Port Orleans Riverside offers the Sassagoula River Adventure Cruise. Children travel along the Sassagoula River to learn the "Jester's" way of life. Along the way they explore the Sassagoula River and finally meet the character known as the Jester. The cruise is held Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. for children ages 4-12. Cost is $28.17 plus tax per child. Call 407-WDW-PLAY to make reservations."
I will post the report after DS#1 goes on this

I can't help with this particular cruise but DS has done the GF Pirate Cruise and the BC ALbatross cruise and loved them both. I'm glad Disney is finally adding additional cruises for the boys (& girls too!).

DD 9 and DNep 10 did the Albie Cruise. They didn't seem to enjoy it as much since it is really geared towards the younger kids.

Sorry cruise-o-matic they didn't enjoy it! I think the "prime" age for it would be about 5-8...depending on the child. DS loved them but he passed this year since he thinks he's getting too old now. (He'll be 7 in October)

I just booked DS#1 (will be 7 at the time) on the Sassagoula (aka Jester) Cruise - turns out that the scheduling has been changed from mid-day to a 0930 start (lines up with the other pirate related cruise times)
Will file a trip report on this cruise
Cheers
