New, new, new member!

Hello!

I keep getting prompted to post by that little bar at the top of the screen.....I have a few posts over at the big, crazy board, though I look over here as well. :)

We are pretty new owners - we bought in, what, February I guess....and still have a full set of bright shiny points. Our first trip is planned for October and will be a 4 generation deal in a 2 BR at OKW. Then we are going home to SSR in January for a "just our little family" trip.

My husband and our two boys (then 2 and 7) had such a fantastic time at WDW last January that I got on the DVC bandwagon. It was a crazy, bold move, as we had thought while we were at WDW that we weren't interested in DVC. Don't even ask me what changed - I'm not really sure. But here we are and here I am and I look forward to more time here with you all!

I'm impressed you could wait until October to use your points. We closed in February and had to start right away, by extending our May visit and going to Disneyland! All I can say is I'm glad a new use year rolled around...

During my first trip to WDW with my family, I looked at the DVC signs/ads and said "Who would be nuts enought to do that?"

Apparently, the answer was "Me."

Hi Dirk - Sounds like you had fun with your new points. :)

I guess there were a few things that kept us from using the points burning a hole in our pockets. 1. We had already taken my son out of school for almost a week for that trip in January. We don't much relish big crowds or heat, if we even could have gotten ressies for school break times. 2. We have had an insane amount of travel to do this year, all family-obligation-related. My two year old has been on 20 airplanes in the past year alone!

Yes, that is my little son - he fell absolutely in LOVE with Pipa the talking recycling bin in Animal Kingdom. We actually spent about 20 minutes waiting around for him to come back out (after talking to a CM who radioed to find out when Pipa would be back out again) and switched things around to have a second day at Animal Kingdom for pretty much the sole purpose of seeing that thing! We did other fun things that day as well, obviously, but Pipa was the reason that we were there instead of another park! DS had to give pipa a BIG kiss goodbye. I normall would discourage him from putting his mouth on a recycling bin, of course. Pipa seemed even cleaner than the other receptacles at AK, though, being part of the cast and all, I guess. :)

We got to see Pipa perform during our trip in May. I was drinking a bottled water, and when I finished it I waved it and called out, "I have a bottle for you." Pipa came charging over so I could put the bottle in its (His? Her?) recycle side.

That is so cool. We are big Pipa fans. And I am going to say that the days we were there anyhow, Pipa was definitely a "he" - or at least his operator was!:shhh:

My husband and I are big fans of PUSH. So we were quite happy when we stumbled upon Pipa at DAK.

We came across PUSH one day as well - we were hoping to and got lucky, I guess. He was also really great! My son, however, did not kiss PUSH. We had an encounter with Wes Palm before DAK opened for the day - he didn't get a toddler kiss either, though!

We did not, however, have any luck tracking down the talking things at Epcot. I had heard that there were a few, including a talking trashcan (of the automatic variety) in the Electric Umbrella, but we didn't find that or the talking drinking fountain. Maybe next time. :)

We too have spent a great deal of time chasing Pipa and the Palm tree! LOL DS and DD could follow them all day! The only problem we had was after the first meeting, DS kept sticking his head in EVERY garbage can trying to see if they talk :scary:
