We have hot water radiant in floor heat in our house, and our water heater went out Sunday morning. Fortunately, it only got down to about 38 last night, so it has stayed above 62 without any heat on in here. I'm sure glad we have a heated mattress pad on the bed though! It's just so inconvenient to have to heat water on the stove for everything, and taking a shower is out of the question. We can't find the part locally, so it has to be ordered from the manufacturer, and they are in Kentucky, so I don't suppose we will be able to get the part before tomorrow, and then it will have to be installed, so I'm hoping the warmer temps hold here for a couple more days. :brrrrrr:

Oh Brrrrrrrrr! I'll be sending you warm vibes from FL! I hope they get the part installed quick - can you do that yourself or will you have to wait for someone to come out and do it? Stay warm!

Well, it's 2 PM, and it has been a nice sunny day, so the house has heated up nicely. It's actually about 68 in here now, and the logs act as thermal mass, so it shouldn't cool down too much tonight. Hopefully the part comes early tomorrow morning, and DH can install it tomorrow after work. I just HATE not being able to shower! I have had to heat water on teh stove ala "Little house on the Prairie", and it's getting old fast! :hammer:

That was not the part of "log cabin style home" you were looking for, huh?
Sorry, and hope you get it fixed soon!

Bummer! I can't stand being cold! I hope you get the part tomorrow!!
You have reminded me that we need to go and get some kerosene to have around for our spare heaters in case our heat goes out this winter!!

Good luck on getting the part sooner rather than later. Radiant heat flooring is great but we only want it in our bathroom and kitchen and not a a source to heat the house we will stick with our natural gas for that.

I think I could stand being cold - lots of blankets and all - but not the shower part.... I love my showers! Crossing my fingers for you!

DH got it fixed by 5 PM, so I even had hot water by the time I had to make dinner. It was so nice to have heat in the house again, but the best part was getting to take a nice long HOT shower!!! :bluebloun Today, I intend to fill the Jacuzzi and take a long soak!

Just in time for the lovely storms to roll through. I don't know if you got hit by them but we sure did. Weird to have such massive storm in November. Lost power until about 1am last night.
