I remember reading a few months back on "another board" about how Disney was putting a DVC where the Pavilion in Myrtle Beach is. Did this rumor completely die, or is there any chance of it?
Just wondering because I went to the Pavilion website to check the hours for our upcoming trip there and noticed that their farewell night is September 30, which would coincide with the anticipated October DVC announcement.
Just wondering, with all of the other rumors out there about proposed buildings, if this one is still at all viable. I know that time shares in MB seem to sell quickly, so it would seem to be a place they could market and sell with ease.
Just curious...

That would work for me. I have a friend who's planning on moving to Myrtle Beach. This would make it easy to visit her.

Looks like Disney has teamed up with the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce on a training seminar! Kinda weird that I saw this when I searched for info about their pavilion closing...

And I go further -

Burroughs & Chapin Company is also partnering with the Horry County School District, Horry-Georgetown Technical College, Coastal Carolina University and others to help implement the Early College High School concept in Horry County.
If I read correctly Burroughs & Chapin Company owns the Pavilion. And Horry-Georgetown Technical College is in on the Disney training session.

But change is necessary to keep a destination viable, said Gary Loftus, a former hotelier who now is director of Coastal Carolina University's Center for Economic Development. Think about Disney World in Florida, he said, and all the new rides and changes it has gone through.
"It is just part of the evolving market," Loftus said. "We are just doing it a little less subtly than Disney does it, and it is happening all at once. It's just what happens. It's called 'evolution.' Every 20 years or 30 years, it churns."
They are using Disney as an example as to the future of that land... :headscrat

Doggone lenshanem! You are quite the bloodhound!:worship:
We are headed to Myrtle Beach the end of this week, and of course going to the Pavilion. I'll snoop as much as possible to see if there's any other signs of Disney around there!

My husband spent a couple of hours at Peach's cafe last night asking the locals about what the plans were for the Pavilion area. Here's what I can remember right now. If I've left anything out, I'll ask him when he gets home and add it.
The ride owners are hoping to do a large property buyout a little further south and move all of the rides there, around Family Kingdom. All except the roller coaster, which cannot be moved. (Well, I guess it could, but it would not be worth it. They are trying to decide whether to keep it operational and just charge to ride it alone, or just keep it there static. I hope if they keep it there, they don't let it just decay.)
No one seems to know who bought the land. Just that a realtor bought it all. This one statement alone reminds me of the Florida Project. :reporter:
The Attic and all of the domed building holding the arcade, as well as the rides and possibly the parking deck will go. Peach's was offered $5 million for their little spot, but they have been family owned for like 75 years, and they refused the offer. Likewise, The Bowery (where Alabama got their start) turned down a hefty offer.
The news is supposed to break in October...
