View Full Version : Favorite Store in DTD?

Inspired by JiggerJ's thread about restaurants....what's your favorite places to shop at DTD?
I LOVE the 12 Days of Christmas Store!!! I feel like something is missing if we don't go there each trip. That's the one store I am sure to walk out with atleast one bag full of stuff.
I also really like Basin and usually buy some of the homemade soaps. (even if they are more expensive than I would normally spend LOL) DS likes to make me a special candle or bath salt thing each time too.
And I'm not sure about the name of it but that outlet type store in the alley way with everything under $10 is great for stocking up on small toys and goodies for home (stocking gifts, Easter baskets etc.)
Both kids love the Once Upon a Toy...of course! And DH must go to the Sports store with all the ESPN stuff in it....takes him forever to pick that perfect item :catchingz
Surprisingly, we can actually do without WoD. I hate crowds and it always seems to be crowded, everything is too close together and most of the stuff we can find elsewhere in the World.
So what's your faves??

:headscrat You mean I have to pick just 1 store oh man that is a tough question. I guess I would say the christmas store.

We enjoy all the stores, but I would have to say WOD. I just wish it wasn't so crowded.

I'd have to say the LEGO store.
My son discovered LEGOs about 1 1/2 years ago and now he's totally hooked. I used to love them as a kid, so now I'm getting to revisit that portion of my youth. ;)
There are quite a few LEGO stores around the country, but the closest to us is about 4 hours away by car. The LEGO stores carry many items you can't find in run-of-the-mill toy stores, not to mention the pick-a-brick area where you fill up a bucket with whatever you want. :D
Oh, and they have a 10% AP discount, too!

:howudoin: Stimpy! :)
I love the Art Gallery - I always take a walk thru there and drool - :)
Basin to stock up on Mickey Mouse bath fizzies...have you seen those? :kickingco
I wasn't aware you could make candles there- My ds will have to check that out this upcoming trip- sounds fun! :)
The Christmas shop to poke around and maybe get some early ornaments-
And always, always shop at the HOB company store- the cajun cooking spices, some guitar picks for dd and a shirt for ds.

Disney's Days of Christmas, of course! :slyasafox
Disney Tails being my 2nd favorite. :kitty:

Just a heads up, this is not an outlet store. It is called Mickey's Mart and it sells items for $10 and under. They usually run a special every week, and they do have grab bags for a set price and a "4 for $10" area where you must buy 4 items from the grouping for $10. Everything else is the same items and price that you would find anywhere else on property. For example, you forgot to pick up that MM shaped ice cube tray at Yankee Traders in the MK. Lo and behold, you found it is Mickey's Mart.
I have heard rumors about this area, but I won't spread any. :viking:

Love that 10% discount!!
Stimparoo, you might have to wait on me for a little while, LOL. :beaniepro (we really need a cash register smiley) My favorite part of WoD is the jewerly portion. I love to look at the watches and necklaces, and knowing I can get 10% off. So agree about the crowds though. Mr Roz has now started to refuse to go in there if it's after 4pm.
Don't worry Stimpy, we can raid the Basin together. I was already taking "inventory" of my Basin basket in my bathroom. I am good on Bath Bombs, but need a couple of Olive Oil Bars. :)
Oh the Art store, and the Christmas store. Oh gosh Stimparoo, our "budget" trip is going to be a trip!! :hahahaha:

That's the place! You are right, I didn't mean to call it an "outlet", I meant more of a place for discounted or cheaply priced stuff. I love getting to those grab bag things! It's always fun to open them up and see what "treasures" we got. Please don't tell me it's going away :faint:

Basin is my favorite. I buy a LOT of bath bombs each trip. My favorites are the Mickey ones, hidden treasures, the cinnamon scented ones, and the powder-scented ones. My kids love them as well, and as a special treat I give them a Mickey bath a couple of times a month.
My second favorite is Once Upon a Toy. I just love all of the great theme park toys in there, and the "My Side of the Story" books.
My DD4 loves to get manicures. (I made the mistake of taking her to the spa for her 2nd birthday and she has been spoiled ever since.:help: ) So I would imagine that the next trip we take will involve a trip to the Bibbidy Bobbity Boutique. Our last trip there they were almost finished with it, so we haven't seen it yet...

I also love Basin! Last visit, we got about four of the special soaps and 4 shampoo bars. The shampoo bars are just great and last a long time! I have quit buying shampoo at the store:D
I also love Art of Disney - what a beautiful store
WOD is great too; I agree with Roz that the best spot is jewelry :loveisint I bought one of my Disney watches there and my Mickey earrings.
...sorry, can't pick just one store:upsidedow
I'm with Tim on the Lego store. Both kids insist on spending an hour or so there every trip. We usually stock up on a extra parts, like wheels and odd shapes.
WOD is a must. DW and I take turns in there, one stays with the kids in Lego and the other buys presents for upcoming birthday's Christmas, anniversary's etc. In fact this thread reminded me I have something stashed away I bought last summer for this summer's wedding anniversary!
DW and DD also spend time with a Pin Trader who sets up his shop down near the Christmas shop. The gals love pins and this guy seems to every Disney pin known to mankind.

Good topic!
The art of Disney is the ONLY store (except for electronics stores and toy stores) my husband will voluntarily go in to. Some day we are going to get the statue of Walt and Mickey.
I also like WOD, but as mentioned, that store is so dang crowded.

Well, my DW would vote for the scrapbook place, whatever its real name is... To me it is "that Damn scrapbook place" as I review our credit card transactions after each trip.

:D I haven't had the opportunity to check that out yet- but I will now for sure!!!! ;)
Laura,
My wife, Susan, has a huge magnet in her belt buckle that attracts her to the most expensive item in any shop. My magnet, on the other hand, merely pulls me to any place that serves margaritas....which is how I met the Boardwalk Babes....so it's not a bad thing!

I must have magnets implanted in each hand --as generally I'll have one hand reaching for the expensive goodies....while the other reaching out for a drink! :hahahaha:

As to favorite DTD stores (aside from WOD and the Christmas shoppe) any other fans of Hoypoloi here? :)

I will admit that I have not been in most of the stores at DTD and have only walked from Cirque back to WOD once and seen the things in the PI end.
That said, the Lego store is a MUST for hubby and boys on each trip. (PJ and I spend that time wandering around outside if the weather is nice....because WOD is a nightmare with a stroller). Next would be WoD and Rainforest. The boys love the t-shirts there and like to browse the store and they always seem to have some great clearance.
I have so much more to explore and do!!! :bluebloun

Yikes, now I'm worried about being bi-buckled. :hehehehe:
Well, it used to be teh Pooh store. :( Unless they have put the Pooh back in it, it's likely WOD. Emporium used to have way cool stuff too, but seems all homogenized now. (I know, I'm not the first to say this)
Hoy poloi looks awesome convert! Dh will have to hold on to his wallet (and my key ;) )

Actually, Laura's comment regarding the Lego store was not silly and probably was helpful.
However, we've seen that ignorance about something doesn't necessarily stop people from having an opinion about said thing, does it? :scratchch

oooh we have similar tastes - love that store!!!
BUT I am in the minority - I can't handle WOD unless it's first thing in the morning. I like Basin for the Mickey soap (and princess soap, and shoe soaps - make good gifts for the non-Disney friends). Also like the Art of Disney (?) and the book/papergoods store next door.
Having just spent a Sunday morning roaming around DTD in DL, I much prefer the shops at DTD WDW. But I do like La Brea Bakery in DL; wish that there was something similar in WDW. (ie coffee and excellent baked goods) We had Sunday brunch sitting on the patio, listening to Disney music and watching the crowds head to the parks.

I love walking through the Art of Disney and Hoi Poloi with a margarita in one hand and......wait, I was going to say a credit card in the other, but honestly, I love looking at stuff, but rarely buy...So am I a virtual bi-buckle, Convert?
Funny, John, that when I went to Captain Jacks for my requisite lobster tail the night of the pirate cruise, I SAW that margarita stand and wondered why I had never seen it before!
Ok...this is off subject but my computer is making bad 'fan' noise and my clock is off by an hour...or is it daylight savings time??????hmmmm. Sleepy minds want to know?
Hmmmmm, hate to tell you this, CB, but unless you've become Indiana Belle, the clocks did indeed go back last night and you've blown an opportunity for an extra hour's sleep...unless, like me, you're stuck with dealing with animals who don't understand these things.
And, please, CB, tell me I'm dreaming. Did my favorite margarita babe REALLY not know about that Margarita bar. Please tell me i'm dreaming.

p.s. can help with the computer farft noise

Hmmmmmmmmm...it seems like many of you like Disney's Days of Christmas.....
That must be why we have been so busy lately......
From what I have been told, Pooh Corner has gone back to being mostly Pooh. I haven't gone in there recently, but I do chat with some of the CMs from there (I used to work there) when they come into DDOC to use the rest room...

We're hooked on the shampoo bars at Basin, so we always go there. And we've started a new tradition of buying a Christmas ornament on every trip to WDW, so we now always go to the Christmas store.
