Add this to the Rumor Pile, but for what it's worth....

after purchasing our DVC membership this sunday at Disneyland Resort, While waiting for the DVC bus to take us to the front gate of Disneyland, A DVC representative (no names here, but this person was credible) told us that the Head of DVC had recently visited and told the staff there based on the sucess of the west coast DVC sales, to look for a Disneyland Resort DVC property "sooner rather than later"
This was news to the DVC staff there, althought they could not get him to give them any more information.

Add this to the strong rumor on several Disney sites of an expansion of Downtown Disney, and draw your own conclusions. There are large parking lots both to the north of DTD and the South of the DLH (several acres each), and Disney designed the main existing parking structure to allow additions to compensate for lost parking elsewhere on the property. I think that one of these sites is a good possibility for an all new resort.
There is a severe shortage of Disney rooms at DLR and all 3 hotels are at full capacity most of the year. So if there is a new DVC, look for a combo situation similar to VWL and BWV.

Also remember that the Grand California Hotel has expansion property set aside as well.

Only time will tell...

I know I might bring a ton of derision down on my head, but I really do think that this scenario is possible.

No derision here. I had the same thought - but I don't see how that could be!! It's such a blessing or riches.

On the other hand, Maybe that's how they prevent a run on any one resort: give us several options for great new places so no says "I'll wait for xxxx"

PS - if they announce more than one DVC, can they please also finish building Pop Century? I hate seeing the conrete hulks.

The most likely possibility is if they can justify an all-suite value resort after the experiments at All Star Music.

During all but the very busiest times at WDW, they have plenty of Value rooms to meet demand. They can't justify the cost just to absorb additional demand during a handful of weeks.

I am all for a CA DVC. Then we can use a few points for weekend overnights at DLR.
I get so jealous of FL residents being so close to WDW and being able to just drive and stay a night or two.

At least you are on the right side of the pond. :jawdroppi
Think of me, I have a 2hr drive & 9hr flight just to get to the USA.

Now, what about a DVC resort in Paris? That at least, is only a 2hr train ride or 6hr drive away:thumbsup:

Yeah - blasted finances getting in the way of aesthetics!!

Quote today from Al Lutz at MiceAge.com

"There's plenty slated for Anaheim through the end of this decade, including a massive remake of the Paradise Pier and Route 66 sections, the first DVC property in California, Downtown Disney expansion, and a decision on what to do with the aging Disneyland Hotel. Jay Rasulo has already got it in his head that he wants all of those things readied on the Anaheim property, and its Griers job to serve them up to Rasulo on a silver platter without getting in the way of Rasulo's vision."

As most of you know, MiceAge has been one of the most reliable sources for this kind of information over the years.

Bruce, :fingerscr for ya, but aren't French property ownership laws tough for foreigners? Might make DVC in DLP a bit in the offing....

I'm another one of those just dying for DL DVC. I'm not right around the corner, either. I'm a 2 hr drive to the airport and a 5 hr flight away...but I'd buy in a min. Hoping hoping hoping...:loveisint

I just caught that too. Hopefully, this will come to fruition and they will do a bang up job.

We toured the SSR model Sun afternoon, and asked about a CA DVC. She asked me what I had read on the various boards. She had no info, other than to say that members should write or call and say they want a DVC in CA. But she also mentioned there was no room for one at the DLR, but if one were built as an addition to the GC, it would sell out in a month.

Gaston,

I see you are close to Disneyland. Im sure you have seen the large parking lots to the north and south of the DIsneyland Hotel. These can be used if adtitonal parking is added to the parking structure. The lot south of the DIsneyland Hotel is about 16 Acres, there is plenty of room for a new resort there. Also remember that Disneyland has 85 Acres at the corner of Katella and Harbor that was once going to be used for a 3rd park.

Well, last week while doing a little add-on while in WDW, one of the DVC folks, who will remain nameless, said that DVC DL is "sooner than you think." :highfive:

I was thinking it would be a week from next Tuesday. It's going to be sooner than that. That's fantastic!!

If there ever is a DL DVC, especially GC, even DW would be all over that one.

I was told by a DVC cm at DL, that a third ship for the west coast was a definite, just not official. And a fourth for the Mediteranean cruise, if the tryouts went well. This was told to me a week before the AKLV were announced.
