Found Guilty have not heard from hubby yet
http://www.wral.com/news/9694407/detail.html
Thursday, August 17--A partial verdict was reached yesterday and hopefully this will get wrapped up today, maybe before lunch. This has been very hard on hubby, not as cut and dried as one would have thought. He is the forman of jury, by the way :(
Here is a link to what was in the news about it. http://www.wral.com/news/9688221/detail.html
--------------------------------------------
My hubby has been called up for Federal jury duty. He was called up back when he was going thru his heart rehab, and his cardiologist wrote a letter saying it would be detremental to his health if he missed his rehab appointments.
So, they send him another letter. He had an appt. with cardiologist last week and mentioned it and cardiologist says he can write another letter. Hubby says no, he will go and do his civic duty and then his name will be off the list for a while.
So, he has to report today at noon (2 hours ago). Normally you call a phone number the night before and you find out if you actually have to show up or if they have plenty of people. He got a letter on Saturday telling him not to call, just show up and leave your cell phone and any electronic stuff in your car or it will be confiscated (not standard practice here).
We then start putting two and two together and today is the day they are picking the jury for the Pasarro case - the afghanastan detainee abuse case. :( The paper says they have built a special room at the courthouse for the classified documents and they expect CIA people to be showing up to testify in disguise and using pseudonyms.
I have to say that I am a touch concerned that I have not heard from hubby since he left for the courthouse.
I am wondering if I will be sorry that I didn't take out that trip insurance for our October trip. :boohoohoo Surely, this won't go that long, if he even gets selected, will it?

Surely it won't go beyond 2 months. And maybe he won't get picked. I think the chances are in your favor that your October trip won't be in jeopardy.
Hang in there, and keep us updated, K? Lots of PD for you and DH. That would be really stressful circumstances for him.

I hope you hear from your DH soon. I know I would be worried, not that anything bad would happened, just wondering about what is going on. Did he have to go to Greensboro? I've only known 1 other person who got federal jury duty.

I've had jury duty re-scheduled when I told them I had a vacation paid for. :fingerscr

Hopefully he can be excused, IF chosen for the case!!! They usually ask if there is any medical or personal reasons a person can't serve. Maybe he just hasn't had a chance to go back out to his car yet to get the cell phone.
Sending good vibes your way!!! :goodvibes

Ginger, it is here in Raleigh. And I still haven't heard anything. I told him to make sure he had change so that he could call from a pay phone, but maybe they aren't even letting them get to a phone.
Could be he isn't even in line for this case.

There are a lot of what if's here - so don't worry yet.
1st - jury selection can take days, and if it is a sensitive case - they will not allow him to make a phone call until the day is over, and if he's not on the first round of selections - he won't be let go early.
2nd - with his heart condition - they'll probably not select him
3rd - yes - it could easily go over 2 months, but I don't think you'll have to worry about it!

no news yet. I am guessing that court lets out at 5:00, so I should hear something when he gets to leave the courhouse.
I am suspecting that all of your comments are correct. He probably won't be chosen, etc., etc. I just keep telling myself that over and over. Each time the phone rang this afternoon and it wasn't him, I just kept wanting to say, What are you thinking by calling me right now?
I am supposed to be going to Curves tonight, but I think I am going to sit tight right here and wait for some news.

He just called and said he is on his way home and he cannot discuss anything with me.
I asked if he is on a jury, and he said yes. I asked if it was THE case, and he said he could not discuss it.

Oh my.
Of course we understand whatever it is has to be kept private. When it's over and he's free to talk let us know what you're whatever you are able to share. Whatever it turns out to be chances are your October trip will be fine.
Hugs to you Rwe! :grouphug:

Sorry he got picked. Gee - all this can't talk about it stuff sounds a lot like my DH's career. It can be awfully hard to not get to know the details. Hopefully he'll be able to hint enough that you can figure out what's going on. We'll all be sending pixie dust your way that the trial is a fast one!

Glad DH wasn't thrown in the hoosegow or something else weird.
But with his health problems, he probably shouldn't be on this case. Perhaps he can speak with his cadiologist about the matter.
I'm suggesting this because if it is the case you suspect, it really could go on longer than 2 months. And woudn't that be a financial drain on the family in addition to health concerns?

CB, thanks for your concerns, but I really think things will be o.k. This may not go on as long as I had thought, so please keep your fingers crossed for us that it goes that way. I can't say any more at this time, and honestly don't know much more, but am afraid to say anything at all. :tapedshut

Will keep everyone posted as soon as I know anything. Hubby has shared nothing except that the CIA doesn't spend much on the hair pieces and disguises that they put on their folks. :ROTFL:
What do you think the chances are that our keystrokes are being monitored?

It looks like the trial is now completely over? Your husband must have showed some wonderful leadership since the jury had to get get through its stalemate this morning.
At least it's done (and maybe your husband can write a book?). :) :computerg

Glad it's over. Glad it wasn't me trying to make that decision.
I'm still reeling over the arrest of the guy claiming to have killed JonBenet Ramsey.
Hope hubby is able to relax and not go into replay over the trial..we're all proud of him for doing his duty!

Up to 11.5 years that is it why bother I am guessing he will get about 5 and be out in 2 that is a joke he should see atleast 20 plus years CIA or not he needs to be locked up for a good long time.
I am glad your Hubby doesn't have to sit through anymore of the details and hopefully it doesn't affect him at all glad it is over so he can get back to a normal life again.
Myself I would have been one fighting for a harsher sentence and more than misdemeanor assault against this guy.
