Were DVC members offered free DDP or was that just for non DVC reservations?

Probably seems like a silly question but I looked and could not find an answer.

The free dining plan was available to guests who paid rack rate for rooms (no discount) and purchased tickets at the same time.

You are still able to purchase DDP as a DVC member staying on points. Depending on how much you eat out while there it can still be a good deal. I think the current price is $39.99 adults/$10.99 child per night.

Very close: $37.99 for adults.

Convincing Rumor has a $1.00 incease effective 01/01/2007.

If that is true, look for more food standardization across restaurants, and worsening quality as has already been reported on numerous threads. ($1.00 isn't enough of an increase IMHO)

Not that this would affect us. Kiddies eat Mac & Cheese (or is that Mickey and Cheese) and those cute PB&J sandwhiches.

Next year, I'm gonna book a 1 BR for me and DW so we can get the DDP, and a studio (HOPEFULLY attaching) for the Kiddos so they can eat the above mentioned, cr#p!

The difference between the DVC DDP and the regular hotel DDP is that with a regular hotel room, you have to buy a ticket to the park to get the dining plan. As a DVC member staying on points, you only have to buy the plan, there is no ticket requirement purchase involved.

Much better for DVC members since they gave the AP discount and many has APs now and wouldn't be interested in buying a ticket!

I'm a DVC Member, but I'm staying on my in-laws points. (They had banked points about to expire, which is why they didn't simply do a points transfer.) As I posted in another thread, as far as MS is concerned my "member" status doesn't apply toward this ressie and my in-laws have to make all of our requests for us. I just asked my FIL to request the DDP be added, but now I'm paranoid they won't let him.

Does anyone know if I will count as a "member" or will MS treat me like a "renter" with regard to this trip and my purchasing DDP? (Am I correct in my assumption that "renters" can't purchase the DDP?)

Renters can purchase the DDP, but the member making the reservation has to call in and request it.

Thank you SO much, Rita! I thought I had read something about renters and the DDP, but since we weren't planning on renting to anyone and never dreamed I'd be a renter, I didn't pay it any mind. Just knew I'd read something about it somewhere and my faulty memory made me assume it was that renters couldn't purchase it.

Now that I have a trip planned -- just me and the kids! -- I was comparing DDE (which we already have) to the DDP, and it's a no-brainer for my appetizer-desert-and-snack loving kids. Of course, I'll keep that DDE card handy for a :margarita or 2 (or 5)!
