That's the 2nd time this year - something about 'meeting the needs of the travel industry' which I suppose is a reference to the robust growth in travel?

wowser. Wonder how much AP prices are going to be in Jan???

that's scary - the price of a one day ticket is about the same as an All Stars room in value season or with an AP discount. When we started going to Disney just 3 years ago, they had barely gotten over the $50 mark.

I'm just glad that I still have an AP waiting for me at 'will call' - I bought it last year on Dec 30 to hedge against a price increase (and prices did go up Jan 1st)

Argh!!!! I'm not planning a trip until next March but, I may just have to pay close attention and buy my new AP before THOSE go up too.

Holy cow! Thank goodness we are still getting two more trips outta our APs. Amazing! Figures we'd have an obsession that is so expensive... And to think soon we'll have to start buying an AP for a 10 year old! And then soon after that another one! Now that is gonna hurt! :crymeariv

Bummer! But I guess the good thing is that we have 6 days left on our park hopper no exp. tickets. That will probably get us through until the next price increase! This change won't have any effect on our tickets will it? That would really be a bummer.

That annual pass discount just keeps looking better and better.

Once you buy our tickets their good until they expire or are used up. There are even a few tickets running around from the '70s and '80s that are still good (at least for the parks that were open at the time). The owner just has to go to guest services to trade it in for media that will actually work in the machines.
We still have 1 day and 4 plus options left on our old hoppers when entry was "only" $50 a day. We'll save them to use when ticket prices hit $100. (Probably in 5-7 years at this rate!).

that's scary - the price of a one day ticket is about the same as an All Stars room in value season or with an AP discount. When we started going to Disney just 3 years ago, they had barely gotten over the $50 mark.
When the ticket structure was altered about 18 months ago, prices began to strongly favor multi-day passes at the expense of day guests. While it does now cost over $70 for a one day, one park pass, you can get 10 days admission for as little as $23 per day!!! I guarantee that wasn't the case 3 years ago.
I will selfishly admit that I strongly prefer a system with high volume discounts over relatively flat prices.

I agree - the current MYW structure is much better than before. We've just used APs ever since it came out, though, so I haven't tried it. However, didn't the Hoppers have some sort of volume discount? I seem to recall our 2003 7 day hoppers averaged out to about $3x a day. The 4 plus options on them also saves a ton of $$$.

Park hopper tickets did cost less the more days you bought, but the discount wasn't as severe as it is today.
The oldest receipt I have is from an on-line purchase of 5-day Park Hoppers back in September 2002. This purchase occurred literally 24 hours before a price increase went into effect.
We paid $214 per adult pass.
There have probably been at least six price increases since then.
Using today's ticket structure, the equivalent ticket for us would be an expiring 5-day park hopper. Disney's price for that with this latest increase is $249. Over a 4-year period, that's an average annual increase of about 4%. That's about the same rate that ALL prices at WDW seem to be increasing (except for after-hours ticketed events and CRT meal packages :blech: ), so I guess it's hard to argue.
It's also worth noting that I'm comparing a 2002 discount retailer price with 2006 Disney prices. The price I paid in '02 was the lowest I could find anywhere, short of joining one of those membership-based price clubs. I'm sure Disney was charging at least $15-20 more per pass for the same 5-day tickets I bought back then. The '06 Disney price is almost certainly the highest pre-arrival price anywhere.
Under MYW pricing structure, you can really make a killing, though, on the longer trips. A 10-day, expiring park hopper is less than $258--you get twice as many days as the pass I noted above for just NINE DOLLARS more!!!!
Back when we took our '02 trip, we were actually at WDW for 6 days but only bought 5-day tickets since we didn't want to pay $40+ per person for a couple of park hours on our departure day. We surely would have hit the parks for those couple hours if we could have upgraded from a 5-day to a 6-day pass for just ONE DOLLAR more. :D
(BTW, the new prices are now posted on Allears: http://www.allearsnet.com/pl/ticketchart.htm)

We don't purchase AP's we do 10 day hoppers no expiry we use 5 days each trip so we get 2 trips out of them cuts our cost down considerably.

We just ordered 2 AP vouchers before the price goes up again.
Our current AP expires this Dec. We will not activate the new vouchers until next Dec 2007. After that, we will probably also do the 10 day non-expiring passes also. Oye:mad: But glad we have the DVC discount:bitemylip

If I go ahead and order an AP voucher for my oldest who is 8 and I don't end up exchanging it in until she is 10 would I have to order the adult pass or could I order her the child pass now??? I thought I read they would upgrade it to an adult pass no charge? :reporter:

By the way, AP prices are going up tomorrow too.
I just ordered mine from the DVC site and it still had the old price. I think with tax the increase is about 20 bucks.

I looked too and the price increase was $20 more for a DVC AP, about $18 for a child DVC AP. I'm now starting to think we might be better off doing the 10 day no expire and just keep buying those. I want us to get into a spring break every year trip and that is really not maxing an AP since our spring break has been hitting the same week every year. Oh, well.

Am I correct in reading that the AP price did not increase?
Thank you.

I did get an AP this year because of the extra trip with my mom in October. I bought yesterday before the price increase.
However with the DVC discounts being the same as the AP discounts (MVMCP, tours and such) I might re-consider getting the AP and get 10 day non-expires instead.
Partly because we really don't need the AP room discount (just a few more times, but AAA is available so better than nothing), we can get the same discount on party tickets and such.
The only thing that might keep me getting it is the DDE. But only one for me and 10 day non-expires for the rest of the family.
