View Full Version : Drumroll...here is our August Challenge!

Hi everyone! :computerg I want to start this post a couple of days early so all of us have a chance to decide what our minutes goal will be for next month.:teacher:
This is my month to fully exercise before I have to have another surgery on August 30 - this time on the MP joint in my left foot. I know that sounds crazy but I have very bad arthritis in that joint and it has been an issue for me for five years now. I am hoping/trusting that this surgical correction will allow me to actually have better walking ability for fitness afterward.
With this in mind, I am planning a big month of fitness :highfive: I am going for 1300 minutes. A new to fitness person might pick 700 minutes. Everyone is free to pick a goal tailored to their wants and needs:sunny:
I hope many Mouseowners will decide to join us for this:grouphug:
Okay, here we go:sailing:
amybeth68 : 680/1300
athenna : 140/700
DarthGoofy : 105/1000
Disneymooners93 : 250/1000
mickeyndvcfan : 710/700
nono : 996/860

I'm in for 1300 myself Lisa! Kicking in for those last few weeks before killer marathon training starts :). Need to get super fit by the end of August!!!
So thanks sooo much for starting this :grouphug: !
860 min
620 running (average of 10 min miles)
240 yoga (two 30 min sessions/week)
anything else, gravy :teacher:
32 min run this morning. :kickingco It felt much better than yesterday's run heat-wise etc. I have so much sweat pouring off me -- it's as if my body just learned how to really sweat. Probably why I feel more comfortable today v. yesterday.

I am in for August!!
I realize I was a complete no show for July. But things have been very stressful at home, and have been ignoring taking care of myself. Things are still stressful, but I need to start the month off right.
Even though I am not new to fitness, I am setting a low goal. 700 Minutes.

Glad to have you, Athenna, as well as Amy, nono and DG :grouphug: Hopefully, others will notice us and join in as well. This is a great time of year to pay attention to fitness. Just be careful outside, nono, although I am sure you are:D
I did an hour on the tread yesterday doing one big long hill:holymoly: Today, I did a mile and then did all my leg/knee work plus ab work for a total of one hour!
pouncingpluto
08-02-2006, 03:18 PM
I'm still exercising! Not really counting minutes, but I probably exercise between 800 and 1000 minutes a month.
I'm doing a mix of ice skating, walking (or run/walking), and strength (ballet barre for my legs, core work- back and abs, and dumbells for my arms). Also the occasional elliptical, though I'm a bit bored with that for now. And the occasional swimming, which I love but hardly do.
I'll check in occasionally and let you know about my ice skating progress! I'm in the middle of my Adult 2 session. Starting Adult 3 on 9/11!
I will definitely be careful. I even bought a "fitness water" for my run tomorrow. I'm in official training now for the 1/2 marathon :whistlebl, so I don't feel like messing around with the schedule too much. I run with my husband and we push the running stroller, so we can pack it up with all sorts of stuff: fitness water, extra shirts, change of socks, etc. Lately we look like we just robbed a running store!

75 minutes KBX yesterday.

Good Luck everyone!

Well, I'm not off to the greatest start, but it's better than nothing. I decided to start my abs workout again, but I had cramps last night (I know, too much info) so not the best time to start it, so I only made it through 20 minutes.:burningma
Should have a bit more time to work out going forward, since I won't be going straight to the hospital every night after work (Dad has been very ill, I didn't even tell you Mouse Owners:grouphug: ) but he is coming home from the hospital tomorrow!
Hoepfully all is well and I can start getting in a good workout.
P.S.-Send pixie dust for dad!

Hey guys, I'll get in at some point I hope. We had a forest fire start up that raged toward the house last week. The family was evacuated for 5 days and I've been working on it with 16 hour days for the last week. We're back at home but the fire is still burning close by. Between the long work hours and choking smoke, I haven't been able to get in any exercise.
We did get DW signed up to walk the WDW half-marathon with my sister.

I will be away for about 5 days....I'll report back on my exercising since I don't think I'll have access to a pc or laptop. I promise that I'll keep with the fitness though LOL!
THANKS! :) amy

Thanks everyone for the thoughts. I think we're fine now, just a lot of smokey mornings ahead. Here is what we were looking at a week ago. This would be have been taken from near our house. It was quite a show that night.

I'll put down my goal of 1000 minutes. It will be a stretch to meet that this month but that's been my minimum goal since February so I'll stick with it. I've got a lot of catching up to do.
70 minutes yesterday of running and stretching. 40 minutes this morning on weights.
Ah, let's see. Friday...42 minutes running. Saturday...32 minutes running. Today...30 min yoga + 20 min walk.
My up-to-the-minute :reporter: skills are not good this month!
DM93, glad to read that your house is going to be OK!

withdisneyspirit
08-09-2006, 02:22 PM
I think I am gonna have to lose 15 lbs to get my flat tummy back again :upsidedow I have super muscles underneath...:D
I did 70 minutes today - 17 in a fast walk on the tread all my leg and knee exercises and my core exercises. I only do knee PT exercises once a week now and I really notice that my knee has suffered a bit from the lesser workouts, oh well! I was supposed to be back to normal by the three month mark - I guess normal isn't in my cards:jumpingbe
Happy Wednesday all!
Lisa,
Too funny. I have this bulge of fat just below my waist that I now LIKE because it helps keep my running shorts from riding up and sitting on my waist. :kickingco I much prefer my shorts to sit on my hips.

08-14-2006, 02:15 PM
Boy, you get out early, nono :bugeyed:
I finished my hour of cardio on the bike - only 16 miles today which is slower than usual:tilt:
Lisa,
The alarm goes off at 5:30 a.m. I like to run early so as to avoid the tourists who have trouble walking/biking/skating/etc., even though that is what they have set out to do! :help: In about 2 1/2 weeks, we'll be getting up an hour later as everyone disappears after Labor Day. :highfive:
withdisneyspirit
08-14-2006, 08:30 PM
Our alarm goes off at 5:30 too:Pokepoke: most all year! We don't drag out of bed till 5:45 though! Then I feed the cat (she comes first of course :slyasafox ) make coffee, make my DS's lunches, eat something, check out MO real quick and then go work out:faint: I usually make it downstairs for my workout between 6:35 and 7:00 so I am a real slowpoke!
mickeyndvcfan
08-14-2006, 11:43 PM
Do you do 2 full circuits at Curves, Gail?
Yes, I do two full circuits and usually another circuit of just the machines. I then do the ab machine and the bike. I'm usually on the bike for about 23 mins.- I do 3 miles set on level 2 , 2miles set on level 3 , and 1 mile set at level 4. I don't know how good that is but that is what I have worked up to so far.
I couldn't go today because I am babysitting my grandson (22 months old) and then I go to work on second shift. I won't be able to go on Tues. or Wed. but I am hoping to get there on Thurs. & Friday. Keeping up with my grandson is quite a workout in it self.

Ok, Ok... I've been busier than h***. No formal exercise sessions for my training schedule but lots of things that will add minutes to my time for the month.
Gotta go... See you all again after Labor Day. Can't wait to get back into it.

You aren't alone in the needing rain, nono! We are having a level 2 - severe drought here. Last year, we made it into the top five wettest cities in the country...then this year
Hope things get better soon, Pete :sunny:
You were busy working out, Kerry! :highfive:
I did one hour - 50 mins on the bike and 10 on the mini trampoline!
58 min. this morning.
If I miss this challenge because I'm running faster, I'll live. :kickingco

I promise I will add it all up, nono! I am convinced you met the challenge already! Good for you on a faster pace. :clappingh
This is my last regular workout for a long time :sosad: I did 70 minutes. It was my last treadmill workout for a couple of months so I did 40 minutes. Because I am worried how my knee will fare, I did another 30 minutes on leg/knee strengthening! Surgery tommorrow at 6 am!

40 minutes yesterday.
I'm gonna have to take a break from my goal for September, because I'm having some minor surgery on Friday, and I know I'll have to take at least a week off of exercise.
25 min yoga this morning.
