Big news out on the west coast.

Matt Ouimet was largely credited with leading the recent revitalization of Disneyland--bringing the park back to pristine condition after years of neglect. There were even rumors that Matt might take over operations at WDW after Al Weiss was elevated to head of all worldwide theme parks.

Hmmmm..... going to Starwood.

Starwood operates the Sheraton Timeshare Resorts.

Many rumors about DVD being sold off to an outside hotelier/resort operator.

No one knows what Disney will do unless they're Bob Iger but, in my mind at least, DVC is such a home run for Disney that I don't think selling it is remotely possible (I am assuming you meant DVC and not DVD, by the way).

And Matt rightfully deserves the credit for making The Disney Cruise Line as sucessful as it is!

Matt will be missed.

John, in essence Disney could sell the existing DVC resorts to Starwood for an extrordinary sum of money - basically selling the points twice - plus collect fees. Disney would still own the land. They could also start DVC II. The cash cow would simply grow an extra couple udders.

Let's not forget that Matt took control of DL after Pre$$ler & Harris completed their era of pillage. All Matt needed was a few cans of paint and a truck load fresh light bulbs to look like the knight in shining armor.

I do believe though that he really did "get it" and he will be miised by The Mouse.
