View Full Version : Proof that I did once live in Epcot

The train village outside Germany in World Showcase is very similar to where I once lived in Bavaria.
The pathway across the village is in the same location as the Autobahn, dividing the village into the old section and the new section. I lived on the hill in the old section, where we had the old pub (dating from the 1500's) and the new pub (dating from the 1600's). We also had a tiny shop with everything behind the counter - one had to ask the proprietor to purchase items.
The new part of the village was in the lower section, and this is where one found the train station, just like in the train village.
On a recent trip, however, I found the ultimate proof...
My (pre-reunification) postal code was 8235 - check out the postal code on the farmer's truck.....

:ROTFL: It takes a true Disney nut to make that connection and even hone in on those numbers like that. :goodvibes

OK, I'll admit it.... every time I go to WDW, I hang around the train village and feel like I'm 'home'....

Welcome home Bavaria.
I like your part of the globe. I have some very good friends in Dietramszell and always enjoyed my time there. Small world!

Next time we are down I will scout it out for you. I think that is really cool that even the smallest details are from your town.

:) Thanks for the offers to look for my old house! (Actually, an apartment building, believe it or not....)
The train village is actually a mix of a variety of architectural styles found in different areas of Germany, just like the pavilion itself.
I've never seen a house like this one though in the train village, although it is very indicative of a traditional painted Bavarian home.

Haribo macht Kinder froh
Und Erwachsene ebenso!
(sorry, just had to add that as I like to chant it whenever people eat Gummibears - it's the Haribo slogan!!) :)
