Congrats hope you like the new job and hours. I could never do teh 9-5 thing ugh I prefer my days with the 2 younger kids and my nights at work alone 3-11.

Over the past 1 1/2 years my work hours have gone from 7a-3:30p M-F.

Then we cut 3rd shift, so they went to 5a-1:30p Tu-F and Sat Am....I could normally get the Sat stuff done in 3 hours or less and they would pay me for 8, plus Monday's off....but thruthfully, I'd rather work 8hr on Monday and had Sat's off. I liked this schedule b/c I could pick up my DD from school.

Then 2nd shift operator left, so I had to replace her. Hours went to 1:30p-8 then I dial in from home at 9:30.....I just missed being home at dinner time and all the evening activities, etc.

Ahh, days will be nice again...... :)

LOL good job on getting your days back again. DW and I see each other about 10 minutes a day and we usually never have days off together. She works 7-2 and I work 3-11 so she is gone in teh morning when I get up to get the kids ready to go and then she gets home around 2:20 and I leave for work at 2:30. So what type of work do you do? I am in teh insurance industry I work for the second largest bank in Canada in the life isnurance department.

Yeah Cruise!!!

I am very glad to hear that things are working out for you! I know it was stressing you worrying about it all.

(apparently there might be some major changes coming up at my work and I am very much stressing it because I am out on maternity leave, so I don't really know what is what right now. I work for 4 different people...2 of which as an independent contract, one is a one man real estate guy who pays 25% of my salary and another is another real estate company that pays the other 75%. Apparently the 75% company might not be renewing the leases for my 3 independent guys....I know they will absorb the other 25% of my salary (they have always told me they would love to have me full time), but I am not ready to lose the extra income from the other two {$1300 a month currently plus I get 25% of the occasional rental commission from 25% pay guy - which can be an extra $3000-$5000 a year} It might all be pie in the sky wishing that was going on when it was discussed because my 3 independent guys are friends with the owner of the 75% pay company and I can't see him kicking them. Time will tell - but maybe its time for me to negotiate working from home, etc. so I am going to let the powers that be know that just paying me 25% more isn't going to cover it.) *sigh* I hate worrying about things like this!

Again - congrats to you and welcome back to 9-5!!!

Yikes, I can't even follow that, let alone figure out how to worry about it properly for you!

But it would be great if you could work at home some. Pixie dust for the whole thing.

LMBO - yeah ...this is why I don't write instruction manuals :P

Lets just say that if they think paying the other 25% of my "base" salary is all they will need to do, they have another thing coming....and I am going to "warn" them about it. I drive a LONG way to work and work some incredible hours (before leaving for maternity leave....I basically had enough time to "comp" the rest of the year...although I am salaried, I kept up so there would be no question that I put in the time incase any one needed to see such "proof")

It will be ok :) Maybe it is time to move on. I would say it might be time for me to be a stay at home mother (or to work from home) but I need something workwise to do or I would go nuts! Maternity leave has shown me that. lol :hammer: I am crazy I know.

I know what you mean. I consider myself a stay at home mom since I am home most of the time, but really I work a lot here and work strange hours for my job. I consider it kind of a perk of doing something a bit odd that I can work and stay at home with my kids. But I don't think I have the personality to stay home entirely - I like to go be just me and working and everything at least part time.

Put in my notice today....since I have to be in orientation on my new job on the 14th, I only gave a 1 week notice. Initially, the boss was upset, but he was kinda cool about it. I still have 5 vaca days from this year, so I asked if they would give me 3 and keep me on the payroll until the 15th (the 11th is a holiday for us). They agreed, which was nice b/c they didn't have to do it. Since I get 20 days vaca, I didn't request the other 2 since they haven't accrued yet.

My new employer gives you 2 days at T'giving and 2 at Xmas, so it is like I'm getting 2 extra holidays this year. Plus, I'll be getting 2 1/2 days in December for our Disney trip.

llovell - I couldn't quite keep up with your situation....all the %'s was confusing :hypnotict .....I hope things work out for you.

Rash - It will be nice to get back involved with our local Mustang club. I was VP this year but b/c my hours wouldn't allow me to attend the meetings, I was removed from my position.

Thanks for all your support.

In the States, it's referred to as "Veterans' Day" and it is also a Federal Banking holiday. I think in Europe, it is called Armistice Day to recognize the end of WWI.
