I'm planning to call MS and order our AP's tomorrow. Do I need the voucher # off the APs to order the DDE? Also who do I call to get the DDE? Will they issue 1 or 2 cards?

Have your AP info ready when you call. They issued us 2 cards.

Here's how to get DDE:

You'll need the voucher or AP number. We got one card initially, then I later requested a spouse card for DH. It's been well worth it...we're trying many restaurants that we never would have without the card.

If you are going soon, you call DDE with the number off your AP voucher. They are only open weekdays, business hours. Tell them when you are going and they will arrange to have temporary cards (2 of them if you wish) at the Guest Services desk before you enter Epcot. They will only be there, which means that you may want to plan your first day in such a way that you'll be at the front door of Epcot. For us,this was the trickiest thing - we didn't have Epcot in the plans until day three, and we made a special trip over on day 2 mid-day. Which was fine, it was our full MK day with two kids who needed a mid-day break - and a long monorail ride was a good way to get it.

Ordered the PAPs online yesterday and should be here w/in 2 weeks. Called the DDE # and they can't take the confirmation #, so I have to wait.

Good news is that since our plane lands before 7, we plan to hit Epcot just in time for Illuminations, so we'll be going to Guest relations anyway to activate our PAPs.

Definitely ask for two cards. We used these if we split up for any reason, and also when our party was larger than 10 because they'd put 10 on each card, so you can really get the discount for 20.

Remember to use the front door at Epcot (we stay at BWVs so using the front door is usually out of the way) The temp cards will only be available at the front. Also it may take some time to activate the AP and get the dining cards. There was a line at guest services that took a few minutes to get to and a lot of DDE envelopes that the CM had to go through.

Is EPCOT the only place to pick up the DDE card? Do they mail them out? I'm going in January and am planning to order my AP in the next week or two.
If they mail the DDE, how long does it take to get it?

Thanks!
Terri

Yes, Epcot is the only place on-site to claim the DDE card. And it's at the main gate--not the rear International Gateway.

If you buy your AP in the next week or so, you should have the redemption voucher about a week later. The voucher is all that's required to order the DDE card. If you order the DDE by December 1st, I'm guessing you will have the official DDE cards in-hand before your January trip.

We got our DDE cards late last week. We ordered my husband's AP at the end of September for a mid October trip. My husbands AP arrived about a week later, I immediately called for the DDE. We picked up the temp cards at Epcot. So about three weeks from ordering the card to having it in our hands. Its quite possible to have the real cards in your hands if you start now for a January trip.

The DDE card is good for a year from the end of the month following the one you order in. I'm adding this because it was important to us as we wanted it to coincide with our APs and we also wanted to have the actual card if possible. We ordered our DDE cards mid August for a late September trip and they came 3 weeks later. They will be good through Spetember of 2006, so we can use them on next year's trip. It seems that they keep getting faster at getting the cards out - they tell you to plan for 3 weeks, and they try to get them to you a bit sooner than that.

Can you use the discount on character meals?

Sure can, as long as the restaurant is on the list.

The only unusual exclusion I can think of are when you book the Fantasmic dinner package. Mama Melrose's, Brown Derby and H&V are all on the list, but you do not get the DDE discount if you dine at those locations under the dinner package.

I ordered our DDE cards yesterday (11/21/05), and Tim said they would be here in 2-3 weeks. I want to make sure they coincide with our APs too, so will get 3 trips on them. I think the DDE benefit is so much better than the dining plan!:bluebloun
