Mouseinfo.com is reporting that backstage work has begun at DCA in DLR for Midway Mania. The same attraction is slated for MGM, replacing Millionare. MGM will open it's Midway Mania before DCA does, but the attraction was initially designed for the CA park.
Maliburritos will be history, and other shops on that side of Paradise Pier will be relocated. No info on opening dates.
Midway Mania is a Toy Story themed, dark ride with a 3D shooting gallery similar to the Disney Quest Pirates attraction.

This sounds like a great draw for MGM. I know all three of my boys (DH being number 3 ;) ) will love this. DH is sorry to see Millionaire go though...

I moved the thread here since this thread is more news related and the Theme Parks forum is for trip planning rather than news and updates.

Thanks for the update Gaston - it's exciting to know that new attractions are still in the works, though we'll miss Millionaire at MGM. Keep us updated!

Yes... More Toy Story attractions!

Now, how do we convince them to let Pixar do Toy Story 3?

Midway Mania is a Toy Story themed, dark ride with a 3D shooting gallery similar to the Disney Quest Pirates attraction.

I know that details are still quite hard to come by, but I've heard some slightly different details on the ride:

* I was under the impression it would include a variety of Pixar characters, not just those from Toy Story.

* The technology will go much deeper than simple 3D. My understanding is that the glasses worn by riders will work in combination with the guns on the ride to essentially reveal things as you "shoot" certain areas of the attraction. In other words, there will be many, many areas of the attraction are only revealed when riders successfully shoot the proper section of scenery. If true, this would add an unprecedented level of replayability to the attraction. You could go on it a dozen times and still find yourself discovering new things.

* I've heard the ride system compared to both Spiderman at Universal and the Roger Rabit attraction at DL. Spiderman uses a hydraulic lift to raise the cars into the air during the ride, making for impressive 3D vehicle motion in what is otherwise a track-based "dark ride". Not sure if MM will incorporate this feature to such a degree or not.

Sounds really cool. I'm a little concerned that DH will suffer motion sickness because of its comparison to Spiderman at Universal. Even dramamine doesn't help there. But I am sure to love this.:beatinghe
