In late 2004 i bought 450 points at SSR from Disney. My family and I are are huge fans of the BWV, we stayed there last year and wil be this July, and had no prob getting Boardwalk view for 2bdr. Its one of those if i knew then what i know now I prob would have gone resale, and I crunched the numbers not really worth it to sell and then buy resale, and theres the point that BWV contract will expire when I'am 62 compared to 74 for SSR.

My question is what are everybody elses experiences with getting BWV 7 months out for late June through early Aug.

I can't speak from first-hand experiences during that time, but I doubt you'll have problems in the forseeable future.

BWV really is quite a large resort in the grand scheme of things. The fact that you were able to get a BW view at 7 mos tells me the resort was probably less than 50% booked for your dates when you called. Summer really isn't one of the busier seasons among DVC members. Based upon the people I've come into contact with, DVC members tend to be more the die-hards who like to visit during low point times and when the big seasonal celebrations are happening (Flower & Garden Fest, Food & Wine Fest, Christmas, etc.)

We've booked BWV ourselves 3 times--twice in May and once in February. Only one of those trips was booked at 7 mos. The other two were booked on 3 and 4 mos notice, and the trip booked 4 mos ahead we even got a Standard View room.

I'd hang onto those points if I were you. And don't be afraid to try other resorts, too. I can appreciate wanting to stick with "what works" for your family, but you'll never know what you might be missing elsewhere until you give it a shot. ;)

Thats good to hear we might do 3 nights in early DEC sometime like 2008 but for now we are summer people with my son in school and fall and spring being my busiest seasons at the practice.

I don't think that summer will ever be a big problem. It might be high bookings in general at WDW. But the summer months are some of the least popular months for DVCers.

Early December and the F and W festival will be more difficult to get BWV now and in the future.

I've had the same dilemma as you. I own two contracts at SSR and wanted some home advantage at BWV. After a wonderful stay there. So I am selling one to get it. Keeping the other. Financially makes no sense but my contracts are small so it is not as much as selling a 450 contract.

I got a one bedroom standard in March last year, close to 7 months but not booking day by day, to give you an idea of another time of year at this point.

cool its good to here about the summer thing. We were thinking about a 3 night super extended family trip in early dec 2007 but since there are only 7 grand villas at BWV we will prolly have to stay at SSR and that will be fine. My Mom is interested in OKW but with only a 7 month window evan though theres like 40 GVs there i'am not sure how easily that will happen.

I'm not sure I agree 100% with this. We don't like the summer heat all that much but every DVC trip (8 now) we've taken is during the summer because of the kids school schedules. And we've found the DVC resorts to be quite full when we've gone.

Throw into the mix SSR when it is complete, and I think getting various times of the year at non-home resorts will be getting chancier as we go. Let's put it this way...it's as good now as it will ever get.

Booking BWV at the 7 month window for the summer right now shouldn't be a problem. The word in the first sentence of the quote that I am not sure about is "ever". 40 years is a long time, and who knows how many DVC members there will eventually be.

Of course, lots could happen. DVC could build on at a monorail resort creating another high-demand destination. Or Disney could build another theme park with some new resorts that would have high demand.

I think things will be fine, but the conservative in me never assumes that things will stay the same forever. :)

I agree. You just never know.

Even if the resorts are full my thoughts are that a greater % of those rooms, than usual, are booked after the 7 months. I booked BCV without a problem about six months out. There in about a week!!!! I was surprised because of all the talk about BCV. There have been a lot of stories about people getting "prime" (ooohh testy word) resorts 2- 4 months out in the summer.

But once again you are right who knows what the future of DVC will mean for booking.
