If I buy APs for my wife and 3 year old son online via the DVC discount - do they have to be with me when I pick them up at guest relations?

From allears.net, a very reliable WDW source:
"The exchange of a voucher or purchase of a new AP/PAP will usually take about 5-10 minutes. A photo ID is required for identification for each adult.".

Thanks, that's helpful, but I am wondering if she actually has to be there or can I just bring her ID to get it. Since the biometric finger scan doesn't take place when its picked up and I don't recall signing anything, I don't see why this couldn't be done. I suppose I could make a phone call but am hoping to leverage DVC member board experience :D

She has to be there. I asked the same question last time I was there and they wouldn't let me just bring hubby's ID. That is the official rule at least. You can get the children their passes at any time.

When we got our APs, they wanted us to sign the backs right there.

Also, if you call MS for the DVC discounted AP's, they actually will mail you vouchers. Then you and your wife can go separately, as long as each of you has a picture ID and the DVC member card when you redeem the voucher for the AP's.

I'm just starting to look in to buying points...What type of discounts do you get on the Annual Passes?
Every little perk helps me convince my husband.
Thanks,
Cheryl

It's $100 discount on an annual pass for DVC members and $125 for a premium annual pass. But I am not sure this is a fair bargaining chip to use on Hubby, as DVC perks are not guaranteed forever. Not to say they will definitely take it away, there's just no way of ensuring it.
The main reason most folks buy into DVC is to be able to stay at Deluxe accomodations for the same cost you'd pay for a moderate if you didn't own DVC. If you and your husband currently go to WDW at least once every three years and stay in moderate or deluxe accomodations, DVC will definitely save you money in the long run.

Cheryl...order the DVD from Disney that talks about the DVC. It's not very detailed but does give a flavor of what Disney's version of a timeshare is all about.
As Mar' said, DVC makes a lot of sense if you plan to go often to WDW and would otherwise stay in moderate or deluxe resorts. Personally, I think it needs to be an average of every other year at least, as the only way every three years really works is if you buy exactly the number of points to stay in a specific resort, in a specific sized accommodation, for a specific season of the year. Otherwise, you will either come up a little short on points needed or waste some.
