I think the best meals you can find would be in Epcot as opposed to MGM perhaps Le Cellier, which a lot of people tend to give really good reviews. I personally like cape mays breakfast (I'm a character and buffet kind of girl). I have never been to jiko's but from the reviews I've heard they are terrific and I hope to one day try them. You have to be into exotic experiences I think. I personally love boma's.

You also have Artist Point in WL. Close by is the California Grill at the top of the contemporary which gets good reviews by and large. These are fancy places. You have Narcossees and Citrico at the Grand Floridian.
I'd suggest reading menus here. http://allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm It always helps me decide. :goodvibes
Wishes starts at 10pm usually so try for at least 2 hours ahead to allow for travel time. Check your times for wishes for your date of travel if they are listed yet.

Some random ideas...
Chefs du France? My mom, DH and I went to EPCOT for the day when I was finishing my grad degree and we had a wonderful meal there, though we nearly spoiled it by getting a bite to eat at lunch at the Garden Grille (back when it had a menu you could order from, instead of the family-style AYCE). What we THOUGHT would be a "bite" turned out to be huge platters of food, LOL! Nonetheless, dedicated diners that we were, we still went on to Chefs!
Le Cellier always seems to get consistently good reviews. We enjoyed Teppanyaki, though it really isn't any diff than a Benihana's or such, and it can be so dependent upon who your chef is....
We weren't that impressed with Coral Reef. We sat right near the tank (which WAS cool, I admit!) but felt the food was pricey, even by Disney standards, for what we got. However, my SIL really liked it, so perhaps if you're a big seafood buff, it might be worth it...
As for the lodge - well, to me, the lodge is just so "awesome" that ANY meal there is good, LOL. AP is good, and for something much more casual / lighthearted, try WCC. We love it - though I know its rowdy atmosphere doesn't suit every palate!
What about Ohana or Kona over at the Poly... then you could take in another showing of Wishes from their observatory area! (Same goes for Cali grille).
In MGM, my sister really likes Mama Melrose's. Said the flatbreads are really good. We have tried both Sci-Fi and Prime Time - I think it just depends upon the person. We didn't have a wowser time in Prime Time, food was good enough, just didn't wow us... maybe we'll try it again in a few years when our kids are teens and need to be harassed, haha.... For now, we like SciFi (mainly for lunch - it's a cool escape from the mid-day heat!)
The most "special" meal we have had at WDW was at Shula's. Very very nice. DH is not one to pay big bucks for food, and the dinner was a surprise planned by me for just the two of us, but honestly, he would do it again and has already said as much as I plan for our trip in August '06!
Good luck planning - so many choices, never enough time / moolah!

Hi,
Thanks!! We are going to stay away from Chef's this time. In June, the service was really slow. What's an alterative? Been to Nine Dragons & R&C.
We weren't too impressed by the ploy, sorry to say. Would love to try Calif Grill though.
Been to both AP & WCC. They are nice. Have you ever had Lunch or dinner @ WCC?? Only been for breakfast.
Never tried Mama Melrose or Sci FI. Been to prime time many times. Any suggestions!
Thanks,

I've only been to Mama melrose not to sci fi though I think It would be fun. Mama melrose can be quite goood, the second time we went was a disappointment but I would attribute it to our waitress. The first time was stellar our waiter was excellant I wish I could remember his name. He was tall and quite thin and wonderfully accomodating and lovely with the kids.

We've done WCC for dinner a few times. It's rowdy fun, and we thought the pork chops were good. The last time we went, DH ordered the AYCE skillet, though, and thought service on refills were slow. I ordered those chops again and thought they were still good as ever, LOL! :goodvibes
I've done RFC at both DTD and AK - it can be cool, though to me, it's another one of those that seems pricey, even by WDW standards, for what you get.
We've done Sci-Fi many many times... we didn't do it on our last trip and honestly, we missed it! The theming is very cool - starry skies above! THe movie clips ain't exactly Johnny Depp... more like Johnny Schlep, with outtakes from bad ancient sci-fi fliks. I know some folks complain about the food here, but we've never gone wrong there, especially with the lunch menu. As I said before, it's a great mid-day escape, and to go from the sunshine to the night just makes it more impressive from a theming aspect!

They also have the Brown Derby at MGM which I've heard good things about. I think it is there most upscale restaraunt. Go to the link I put in my second post in this thread and read their menu and see if it appeals to you.

When you are making your reservation for CG, just tell them that you want to be there to see Wishes. They will know what time they start.

Hi,
She says it starts @ 10 p.m. & the earilest she would get would be 8:30 p.m. or 9 p.m. Which means we need something to eat after we arrive @ VWL!!
There have been many great suggestions already, of course! I would add in Marrakesh in Morocco, as we always have such a blast there. It's one of those places for me that I go and actually order different things on the menu vs. the same favorite thing at certain other WDW restaurants. :yummy:
Nono in NJ

The Concourse Steakhouse @ the Contemporary might be a good place to go when you arrive. It's a short boat ride from the VWL and the food is good.
