Has there been any movement towards a DLR DVC? It sure would be great for us, because when we are Stateside, it is mostly in CA.
Thanks

Just rumors. CA is home for us and we grew up going to DL there - so we'd be thrilled if they decided to do something.....
They have the DVC kiosks - but no news yet!

For those of you who are familiar with the Disneyland area, where do you think a possible resort could go? From what I've seen of my one visit, I couldn't imagine one being onsite.

I read that a new DVC model was at DLR, but I have as yet to confirm this or check it out myself, so I'll ask some of my buddies to check it out that live closer to the area.
As for a spot to locate a DVC on property, I can't see anyplace either. There are still the other parking lot areas that I think are earmarked for future DCA expansion, such as the Midway Mania attraction rumored to go in behind California Screaming. Tower Of Terror is already in place on previously unbuilt lot in back of Hollywood Backlot.
There is also some room near the Grand Californian, and the DVC and Weddings office.
My sources are well connected, and well informed, but rarely spill the beans until news leaks out on other websites. I have asked about a CA DVC before, and got no response. I need to ask in person when we get together this summer at the parks.

When will you be out at DLR? We're visiting the last week of July.

They have yet to develop the "Strawberry Field" - it's across the street, I believe, but manageable. I heard a few years back that it was going to be a water park - but we'll see. I've heard rumors about expanding the GC- and they do have room for units there.....

We may go on Sunday of the last week, but at the end of the week we are heading to Guerneville CA for an event.
Are you on the Yahoo DVC group also?

It sounds like our dates won't mesh. We're arriving on Monday 7/24 and leaving Friday 7/28 for Taft (near Bakersfield) to visit family. Disneyland to the oil fields. Are we nuts?
I don't know the Yahoo group.

The new DVC showroom/model had it's grand opening yesterday, my buddies reported to me. They are CM's and heard about it, but didn't attend. They have been using their opportunity to dine at Blue Bayou at POTC for free during it's soft opening runs. They are also riding the new/updated POTC during this time also. Pirates unofficially opens on Sunday.

I would LOVE to see a DVC resort at DL. I would never own there, but would certainly make the 2000 mile trip a couple of times in my lifetime. I'd love to be able to stay "cheaper" than the current trade-in point values.
That said, I can't see them building anything right "on site." Real estate is at such a premium there. Sure they could pocket a few million dollars with one-time sales of DVC units, but then the revenue stream is largely gone. (Sure the guests have to spend money in the parks, but I would question whether a DVC resort would really generate NEW revenues or just be a different option for people already resigned to go and stay at either a current cash resort or off-site.)
When it comes down to making long-term decisions about their limited real estate, I tend to think that a third gate (theme park, waterpark, etc.) would produce a lot more revenue (and profit) in the long haul than a DVC resort.

As I live an hour from Disneyland, I would love to have a DVC available for long weekends there. Fighting the freeway traffic makes the drive twice as long sometimes. If I could pull in on a Friday night with groceries in hand, and a few changes of clothes for us, it would be heaven. We have a lot of Disney pals that we could invite for a weekend, such as we did when staying on points at The Paradise Pier. But staying at any Disney hotels, it is just a hotel room, no kitchens.
We are in a position of trying to burn off points from a canceled trip,in a holding account. We can only use them here in CA as we don't have enough to warrent plane tickets to FL. for a weekend. A DVC would be cheaper points I would imagine, thus making for a longer stay.
We do have friends in the area that also are DVC members, and stay at the DL hotels during the holidays every year. I am sure if there was a DLR DVC it would be well used by locals.

After telling my partner what I just wrote above, he said if a DVC was available at DLR we would definitely by a contract there, so as to have the 11 month window to book all of the dates we would want, especially during the holidays, and some in summer. Also to use points for a bigger unit for family to use, and for us to invite friends to stay with us.

I'm with you Gaston!
We also live an hour from Disneyland and it would be heaven to be able to drive up with groceries and a change of clothes! We always stay at the GCH when we want to stay over night, but the points are a bit expensive.
I had talked to a CM at GCH a while ago and she said they were planning to put a DVC on Property. She thought it was going in the Cast parking lot by the GCH. As I'm not sure where that is, I don't know how big that area is.
I do know that if they do sell a Disneyland area DVC, I'll be waiting to buy! My DH wanted to know if we could add on to our DVC contract and I told him, "Not until they put a DVC in Calif!" I hope I'm not waiting for nothing!

The cast parking lot is next to Paradise Pier, and one behind the Disneyland Hotel is nearest the DVC office. I heard they have already built a model unit there, but I haven't seen it myself. I don't know if it is the tabletop model I saw last summer, or a full size one.
As for a DVC here in CA, I have been told it was greenlit already, but no details or time frame.

Don't know why I'm so excited. We probably will never visit DL.
We live in NJ and would DEFINITELY buy into a DL DVC resort. Unlike a lot of folks, we don't think 5 hrs. is a long plane ride. ;)
I love WDW, but DL was my first park, and also Mr. Nono's first park, and D's first park...:loveisint
