Luggage limit with DME?

Is there any maximum number of pieces of luggage that you can transport via DME?

For our next trip one of the scenarios I'm exploring is having my immediate family arrive a couple of days ahead of our guests. The 4 of us would use DME upon arrival and stay in a cash resort for a couple of nights. Sunday we would move to DVC and a couple more people would join us. Our guests would rent a car upon arrival.

We will all likely depart together, but there won't be enough room in the rental car for all 6 of us plus luggage. Assuming that at least 1 or 2 of us uses DME for the return to the airport, we're wondering how much of our checked luggage we can get Disney to transport for us. Anyone know for certain? Thx.

That's an interesting question - there's absolutely nothing on the DME webpage (http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/common/helpFAQ?id=HelpFAQDMEPage) to tell you that. I suspect you could get away with shipping more luggage than less (say 4 bags each for 3 people taking DME) since you don't use DME tags for going home. However, if you do resort check-in, with one of the airlines that allows for it, then you probably are limited to the what the airlines allow.

You might have to call to get a confirmed answer. If so, please post so the rest of us will know, too.
