The store(s) there now are not as nice, sniff-sniff - seems like there is some basic character stuff, then a huge section of pet stuff, then it spills over into the cheapos-r-us store (everything under a 10-spot). Frankly - I was bummed. THe Pooh store was like the last place to have decent kids/baby stuff. Plus - they had GOPHER STUFF. WHo was the evil mastermind behind this store's removal?!? What bumbling heffalump engineered this? I demand to know!
As for your bench, as I recall, it was still there, and very much in use by camera-toting families that like to say "CHEEESE!" But as for "butting" it your way...well, my furry gopher fanny ain't high-powered enough to send that puppy flying that far (big enough, perhaps.... strong enough, not so sure.)
So I suppose you want me to dig it out, eh?
Well, the first thing to be done is get rid of those people. They're gumming up the whole project. It'll be hard digging... might hit bedrock...danger can happen... risky! Needs planks for bracing! Big job - take two, three days!
Lunches are no problem - I always go home for lunch. Of course, this will run into money. I'll do the job for hourly wage, plus cover material, plus overtime, plus 10 per-ssssssssssent. Can't give you an estimate, too risky.
On the other hand, we could blast it all. A good idea... it'll save time. The charge? About seven sticks of dynamite ought to do.
But no charge account allowed - I work strictly cash.
Well, I can't stand around lollygagging all day, I've got a tight schedule...Think it over. Let me know. You've got my card.
I'm not in the book, you know.

Don't pull the bench out of the ground. Doing so will drain the Seven Seas Lagoon.

You're right Laura! Note to self: As much as you'd love to, never meet goherit. Her voice would change! :D
Here's the real kicker gopherit, they pulled it right before Pooh's 80th b-day!

Are you *sure* the bench is still there? I noticed that it was gone when I was there in May, but maybe I was looking in the wrong spot.

Yeah, and I love the way you Canadians type without punctuation marks. It makes ever post a riddle.

Back to topic............
While the World of Disney was undergoing their renovations, Pooh Corner was being utilized as "World of Disney Kids." This is why the Pooh Corner signs were covered up and non-Pooh merchandise was brought in. The signs were back to normal the last time I looked, but they still sell an asortment of Disney characters and not just Pooh. I don't know where they are going with this; they might not even know. We have recently been given a new GM of DTD, so who knows what will happen. Disney Tails is still there for all you pet lovers. And please remember that Mickey's Mart (out in the breezeway between Pooh/Tails and Goofy's) is "everything $10 & under," and not a "clearance shop." :ROTFL:
I always laugh when I hear people say that.
PS: I used to work in Pooh/Tails before I transferred to another location in the marketplace, ergo I am not spreading rumors (:sunny: ).

Is there a reason you felt the need to add this disclaimer ?

Thanks Doom!
Isn't anything under $10 at WDW pretty close to clearance? ;) I just have to laugh about the complaints of high costs at WDW. No different than local sports arena, except I'd much rather be at WDW! :D

Carrie, I know exactly what you mean. We have an older guy at church that always has to mention "how much money" we must be spending on our Disney trips. "NO way" can he afford to go. Then I ask him "how much did you spend on your round of golf, and cart rental last weekend?" Most golf around here is $40-60, plus cart rental. I tell him that he got three hours of enjoyment out of his money, I can get a whole day for the same!

Yes, dear, I put that in especially for you! ;)

I get what you are saying, Poohspal. For the most part, however, items in this shop is stuff you can get anywhere in the park for the same price. For example, antenna toppers. They might have the POTC one (MM with a pirate hat) that you would have purchased at the MK if you had thought about it. The toppers are $4.95 whereever you go. They do have grab bags and weekly specials, but they really are not a clearence place. Unless they changed things since last fall. I got deployed there one night (when I still worked at Pooh) and I am not working outside in the heat (I don't handle the heat too well). Now you know why I transferred (me and several other CMs). The zones of the marketplace were also reorganized a little bit.

Here's another tip you might not have known:
Disney is famous for piping in smells/scents. When that shop was remodled (in 1991, I think), they piped in a scent. I think it was supposed to be woodsy (you are supposed to be in the 100 acre woods), but it think it smells a bit sweet, more like vanilla. Where is it? Next time you are in the shop, look for the tree in plush mountain (over near registers 2 & 3) and see if you can find it. Hint: Pooh has smelly buns......

Don't we all?
Weird - I just posted about this same sort of thing (scent advertising - not smelly buns!) on the DTD restaurant thread. Goofy's candy store at DTD will kill ya with its bubblegum scent. Made my throat hurt. I don't mind if Disney wants to "enhance" my experience, but not all scents agree with folks and one man's potpourri is another man's poo. (Not to be confused with "Pooh", although then again, if he does have smelly buns, perhaps that works after all... :yuck: :pooh: :faint: )
