Getting ready to book for the F&W festival for 06. I am thinking of October but not sure which week would be best. Are some weeks better (or quieter) than others? I have never been to the F&W festival before. This is a special trip as I am taking my parents for my Step-dad's 70th and trying to make it as smooth as possible. We will be staying at BWV. Any advice VERY welcome! :)

We went the first week in October this year and it was nice. I have never been the other weeks and we chose the first week because we could check in during value season and pay value season for the remainder of the trip.
I hear Presidents day gets really busy and the weekend beforehand. We checked out the Saturday before. The crowds were more than what we are used to the week after Thanksgiving but I think the biggest factor was the free dining.
Overall we hardly waited for anything at the F&W festival in the lines. And we went on a Friday! I guess I would chose going during the value season part of it then the regular season just because of crowds.
The wait times were about 30 minutes on average if you didn't have a fast pass and some of the more popular rides (Pooh, Peter Pan and such) did have 50 minutes posted for stand-by.
Soarin of course was popular but that is to be expected.
I hope that helps some!

Avoid Columbus Day Weekend if possible. Schools are out all over the country and that always makes Disney busier.

We have been in October, and it wasn't bad. The third week you are talking about is when Minnesota and several other nothern states have teacher's break, so lots of folks head down to WDW to take advantage of the smaller crowds. Last year when we were there during that week, it certainly was more crowded than we are used to in December and January, but not so bad as to be impossible, and certainly better than summer. When you get into the early part of November, there is Jersey week, which is similar, but only for NJ. I would think the first week of October would be best for crowds, but not so good for hurricanes.

I vote for the 1st week of October--because that's when I'll be there (10/1-10/6) and we can hang out again! :bouncingc
Seriously though, I think it's a great time. Avoids the columbus day crowds and the crowds Diane referred to in her post. I was there this year the first week of October, and the crowds were very low. Just called MS this morning to book my first night, I do it day by day because I am always worried I won't be able to get a standard view (due to F&W) if I wait to do the whole trip at once.
