would you try to go - or just wait - I will be there again and maybe WDW will move it from a Friday to a Sat or Sun or Monday..... or anything but Friday......

Are they doing it Sunday night as well Spicey?
I think I would skip a Friday night party after driving so far. The weekend parties like that are when the locals go so their children can stay up late and not miss school, so it will be very crowded (and I think the whole "limited number of tickets" thing is true - but the limit is climbing rapidly from what I have read)
When we went, it was on a Tuesday night and we had a fantastic time. We stayed until midnight and REALLY had a blast. When it was almost midnight, the boys wanted to go and see Mickey in his house (Minnie too) as they were in their halloween costumes. I was pooped and didn't go in with them - Dad did. About 2 seconds later they can screaming out to get me. They were the only ones in there and "Farmer" Mickey was chasing them about and having a blast with them. So, if you can go, stay late. It only gets better as less people are around. (sorry - I know I have told that story before so if you have heard it, forgive the repeat!)

Several years ago Doug and I traveled to Massachusetts. I drove for about eight hours. Trust me, all I wanted to do when we arrived was take something for my headache and have some down time.
I honestly don't think you'll by physically up to it. If you try, I suspect you may not enjoy it.

Disney won't move the dates for the party so if that is the only time the party is going on then that will be it.
It is a nice party, however if it has been a long day and you are tired you really won't enjoy it that much.
I would err in the side of caution.
